Obsession Left You Craving MORE? 5 Horror Movies to Watch Now

[00:00:00]Here are five movies for you to watch if you loved Obsession. These are movies about people who can't let go, love someone just a little too much, or will go to ridiculous lengths in order to control them. And I cannot think of a better movie than Bring Her Back to kick this list off with. You've got Andy and Piper who just suffered from a horrible event with their family. They are then transported to a foster home with Laura, and they have to stay there with her until Andy is old enough to take guardianship over Piper. While they are there with Laura, they are introduced to Oliver, who is also another kid who is in foster care with Laura. What you get is a very slow burn that turns into something you do not expect in the slightest. You get a scene where Andy's trying to feed Oliver that just goes completely bananas. You get Laura who is just teasing it up the whole time in the best ways possible. You've got a social worker that legitimately has no clue on what is going on. And then you've got this cult in the background who you think you're going to want more information on, but you just kind of throw it to the side because everything else is so interesting. They give you just a little taste, and that's all you need. It's a horribly underrated film that has a truly beautiful ending, and you need to check it out. Next up, we have Hereditary. Hereditary follows a grieving family who has just suffered a horrific event, and this is one of the few movies I've ever watched that really does portray how awful it is to lose a family member, and how horrible it can be to the family. It can tear you apart.

[00:01:31]You can make decisions that you don't realize that you would make, and you can turn on people very quickly, and that does happen in this movie. I don't really like to throw it around, but I would say that this is a masterpiece. I have never shown this movie to somebody and they didn't enjoy it. But the thing that makes this movie so good is that it does deal with somebody who will go to whatever lengths they can to get the outcome that they want. And that evolves into one of the best final 10 minutes of a film I have ever seen. It gives you everything. It gives you shocking deaths that you didn't expect to happen. It gives you incredible jump scares, and then it gives you one of the most terrifying deaths as well. I feel like Hereditary also had the same kind of buzz that Obsession had when it first came out. It was definitely a more unique and creative horror movie at the time, and it was during that elevated horror genre of films that were coming out at the time. It is a conversation starter for sure, and whether you like it or you dislike it, I think you will still appreciate it in the end for what it is. Next up, we have Misery, which is the oldest film on this list, surprisingly. Misery follows Paul Sheldon, who is in a horrible car wreck and is saved by Annie Wilkes, who happens to be a hardcore fan of Paul Sheldon. What seems to be harmless at first turns out to be something completely dangerous whenever you realize how obsessed Annie Wilkes truly is over Paul. are a lot of events that unfold in this that don't seem as scary as they actually are, but whenever you look at it and you realize how real this movie can be, it becomes terrifying.

[00:03:08]Annie is very much obsessed with the character that Paul has created to the point that she would do anything to get the outcome that she wants from that character that Paul writes about, even if it involves torturing this poor man.

[00:03:22]And something that really helps this movie is you don't have many locations.

[00:03:27]You are mainly locked in Annie's house.

[00:03:30]You do follow a sheriff around who is trying to find Paul, but 90% of this movie is locked in Annie's house, and it is incredible. You really do get to find out the location and explore how the house is, but they do a great job on making you not completely know everything. That way you can feel like Paul feels in the situation. You're stuck. You don't know what's outside in the house, and when you finally do get out, you don't have much time to explore because you're just trying to get out of the situation. It's got an amazing ending. It's got a fantastic cast. It's got one of the more horrible scenes you'll see in a horror movie. And once it's over, I guarantee you this will be on a rotation every year for you to watch. Next up, we have The Invisible Man that came out in 2020. Invisible Man is about Cecilia and her abusive ex, Adrian. Adrian has died and left all of his money to Cecilia, but Cecilia does not believe that this is true and is trying to get everybody to understand just how crazy Adrian is and the lengths that he's willing to go to. As the movie goes on, events start happening, things aren't what they seem, they're moving around, and it just feels like somebody is stalking her. She picks up very quickly on what is happening due to knowing what extent Adrian would go to and it's trying to explain to everybody else in this film what is going on. This movie does a great job on making you feel like Cecilia and just wanting to shake people to get them to understand what is truly happening, even though explaining that an invisible person is causing all this havoc just [music] sounds ridiculous. Adrian is obsessed with Cecilia. Will do anything he can to control her and to get the outcome that he wants to keep her under his thumb. It does not matter the lengths he needs to go to. If it can be done, he will do it with the suit that he has to make him invisible. This movie has incredible jump scares. There's one involving a paint can that when I saw it with a buddy in theaters, it made him jump out of his seat. It was spectacular. There's also a scene in a restaurant that deserves to be on everybody's favorite what the heck just happened moments in a horror movie. It is perfectly done and it just leaves you speechless after you see what happens. Invisible Man has a lot more locations than other films that I've talked about in this movie. You do go around the city and the multiple homes. It is very well shot. Once you roll the credits on this, it will become something that you will watch every year. Last on our list is I Saw the Devil. I understand that this movie will not be for everybody. I completely get that. If you go and you look at all the the trigger warnings behind this film, you can definitely decide on if you want to watch it or not. This is about a special agent whose wife is horribly murdered by a serial killer. The special agent tracks the serial killer down and will stop at nothing to make him feel the amount of pain that he feels from his loss. He puts him through a series of catch and releases to make him feel like he's gotten away only to recapture him and torture him once again. This movie is kind of surprising because there are quite a few action scenes in this. It is very unrelenting and it does make you question the main hero of this film. It makes you ask yourself, is he still a hero? It does make you look at the title and go which one of these is truly the devil after this movie is wrapped. There are a lot of moments in this that are very difficult to sit through, but it does lead to an ending that is something that you will be thinking about for quite some time.

[00:07:10]It is something that I had never seen before. I remember when I first watched this, I had heard about it from a friend and I checked it out and watched it at night and it was one of the most brutal movies I had watched in a long time. This came out in 2010, so it was whenever I was really starting to get into Korean horror movies and this was my first big example. I don't know if you count Oldboy as a horror movie or not, but I had also seen that at the time as well.

[00:07:36]I do really hope that you do look into this because like I said, it is a truly difficult movie to watch, but I'm telling you even though it's hard to watch, it is a good film and I highly recommend it.
