Everything I worked on today from building to a boat part and moving arcade gamesAdded:
Hey guys, welcome back. It's about 8 o'clock in the morning. Um, I'm going to work on the building for about a half a day and then uh I got a bunch of other things I need to get done. And I'm just going to make a video of my day and just uh show you guys exactly what I'm going to get done today. And I'm going to plan on I'm going to work on these sophets right now first. And then uh I'm not sure if I'm going to start the siding on this one or put the sophets on that one. I'll probably get the sophets done on both of them first and see how my time is. Maybe I'll start putting the siding on the front of these two and then I just got to do the sides afterwards. Roof's still a little bit wet from the uh dew from last night. Um I did get all the grass cut yesterday so that's nice to get that out of the way. Don't have to worry about that today. But, um, I'm going to go ahead and just do some high-speed videoing, work on this for a little bit, and then I'll come back.
Heat.
Heat.
That last little piece is going to stay loose for now because there's a flashing that needs to go underneath it. So, this set is done. So, now I'm going to do the other side off camera. Then I'll come back and we'll start working on some of the siding. All right, both sides are sophets are done. This took me hour, hour and a half. Wasn't too bad. Really went pretty quick. So, we got all the sophets done. Now, I can uh I'm going to bend some flashing for the roof and then uh the siding can go on. I still got to put a last piece of uh ice guard up there today. Just uh don't feel like doing it right now. So, I'm going to go down and bend some flashing and then we'll put that on and then we can start putting the siding on. And I need to leave the flashing up um 3/4 of an inch. So, I'm actually going to leave it up 1 in so that the metal roofing will slide underneath it. Um on the front here, I'm going to butt it. I'm going to put it right on top of the roof because there's not going to be metal roofing right here. So, I'm going to go right to there. And I don't know how I'm going to transition this yet. I'll figure that out. Might have to do a little bit of coaul right there once the roof goes on.
It's not going to hurt anything right now, but I'm going to go ahead and bend up some flashing. And then uh I'm not going to video that. Uh maybe I will.
I'll take the tripod down there. So, let's go bend some flashing. All right.
Now, I want to bend some flashing. I have a piece of flashing that's a little messed up on the one end. So, I'm going to bend it and I'll just cut off the bad part.
All right, we're going to tape measure.
First, I'm going to cut it off at 6 in.
utility knife. Might have to get a new blade.
I scored a couple times.
Hopefully it'll crack.
There it goes.
Now we're going to mark it at 3 in.
I just bent it the wrong way.
Need to bend it the opposite way.
I think I can fix it. Luckily, this is roof flashing and it goes behind the siding. So, think I can fix it.
It happens.
Not the end of the world.
I think I can fix it.
What's going on with this thing?
That'll work. That'll be fine.
Rocking my shoe.
Okay, I'm going to go ahead and make a couple more pieces and then we can go up there and start putting this on.
What you call?
Okay, now I want to cut the front piece first and go 6 in longer than the building.
61 plus 6, so 67 in.
Now I'm going to run back down there and bend this downwards into the gutter.
And I'm going to grab uh some 1in blocks.
This is a little bent right here, but it's going to be underneath the siding.
It doesn't matter.
Okay.
So, I'm using the stapler because when I put my starter strip for my siding, I'm going to put roofing nails into that.
This is just to hold it in place. And there's a couple in the bottom of the gutter there, and that's to keep it from flying up in the wind. Now, the four that I put in the gutter, I'm going to put coaul over top of those.
So, now I need to run up the side of the building.
This one should be okay.
This way.
This is 78 of an inch tall.
I should have probably put this behind that.
It doesn't matter.
It really doesn't matter.
Just leave it just like that. It'll be fine.
See? Then when the roofing goes on, it'll slide up underneath that. And uh I'll probably run a bead of coaul between the two just to be on the safe side, but should be fine. Um that's why I always double overlap everything that I do because why not?
It's not going to hurt anything. Now I need to cut a little piece for up there.
And then I just got to duplicate it on the other side. Um this is going to hang up in the air for now.
um figure that out when I put the roofing on because the roofing is going to come right to this edge here. So, I might end up making like an L piece that goes underneath the roofing or goes on top goes underneath this but on top of the roofing and then L's down and then I'll coaul that little seam. Not sure yet. I'll deal with that when I get to it. Right now, it doesn't really matter.
So, I'm going to go ahead and put it on high speed. We'll finish up this side and the other side.
Okay, I want to cut these. Hopefully, this is long enough to do both sides.
It's going to go right down to the top of the metal right here.
46 and 12. It's got to go on an angle.
I'm going to guess now I'm going to make it 48.
At least it's long enough for both sides.
48.
Wish I had my saw up here.
Don't I'm going have to get my saw.
Heck was that?
Heat. Heat.
42 and a half.
this on an angle.
All right.
Now, this little gap will get cocked when I everything else.
Okay, now I got to make one on the other And if you're wondering, how do I know what angle that was to cut it at?
I guessed.
How did I get that correct? Just because I've built this whole thing, and I kind of just know by the by eye what the angle is. So, if you're wondering, that's how I did that. Purely guess.
Heat.
Heat.
down.
Doctor.
Okay. So, I chose to put J channel on the front here simply because I needed it up the sides. So, I figured make it all match. So, now what I'm going to do is drill some quarterinch holes in the bottom here for water to drain out.
the sides will naturally drain because they're on an angle. But now the front water gets in there, it can drain, hit the uh flashing, and then go down into the gutter. So now I'm going to start working on the siding.
Heat. Hey, Heat.
All right, that's one front done. It's going to look good at night with that lit up. Uh, next is the two sides. That'll be a little bit of a pain in the ass. I got to get a level for that. All right, I got to figure out the first piece here.
I put a bulb in the thing when I went down there and grabbed it and I lightly tightened it and it broke. So now I got it stuck in there. I got to get the bulb out. Get another one.
First piece is the hardest.
But in theory, I can use this.
It's a little off because of the uh corner.
Getting hot up here now.
Heat. Heat.
cut this wrong.
Screwed up. But can use it as a template. Maybe.
Yes, I can.
All right. That's definitely right.
But I did it backwards.
All right.
So, it goes like this.
That's all right. I'll have it for a template for the other side.
Heat. Heat.
And that piece I screwed up on, I'll keep using as a template to go up the side.
So, the first one's level. Now I can go from there.
left the little 1 in strip on the top.
That sucks. But what are you going to do? Happens. So, uh I'm going to go ahead and work on this other side off camera and then I'll get it finished up on this side. All right. Um I got the door out of the van that's going to go there. So, both doors will match. Um the reason why I switched doors is I didn't have a door for there obviously.
And those are like $700 now with the blind in them. And since I was putting windows with the grid, I was like, "Ah, you know what? I'll just put the door grid windows in the, you know, with the doors that have grids in them." Plus, this the sill is broken. It's all dirty, but the sill is all busted. So, I said screw it. I just replace both of them.
Um, we're go up there. I finished the one side completely. It's cocked and everything. Um, these are the other two shutters that I I made shutters earlier.
These are the other two that are just drying the paint. Um, for the other side, um, I did not wire the light yet.
I'm gonna do both of the light wiring at the same time. And I'm probably just going to run it through the attic and tap it into that one up there. Then all three will turn on cuz they're dust to dawn lights. Um, I got to get a couple more things off the roof here. And I need to cut back my uh uh house wrap inside the window opening because you could see it from down there. But that's not a big deal. But the side is complete. I even put the ice guard up here. Now I'm getting ready. I don't know if I just said this, but I'm getting ready to paint a boat part.
We'll do that. Then I got to do an oil change and a tire rotation on the van.
And then uh pull those games into the addition.
So that's what that looks like. And this one's awaiting. Oh, I got to get more stuff. I got to get more more siding, more J channel. And I got to bend some more metal for here. I got two or three full pieces in there.
Siding. I just slid everything into there. It's kind of a nice area to store um like building extra building materials.
To be honest with you, it's actually a good idea to keep them in there. Keep them off to one side out of the direct sunlight. Work out well. Um so this week I'm going to finish up this side and get these lights wired up. And then I'm going to take a couple weeks off working on the building because I need to get these arcade cabinets done and uh some cars and then we'll be back on the building again. So basically this week I'm just going to concentrate on finishing that up and hanging that do new door so it's not um uh sitting outside leaning against the building. Hold on one second here. Let's go down the ladder.
grab a couple things. Have to come back up for one more trip to fall down the ladder.
Um, so yeah, if I can, you know, over the next couple weeks, I'll try to that dormer done this week and we'll get the door installed and get it painted black.
Still got to paint the trim around the door opening with one more coat and then I can put the weather stripping back around those two doors. But after I get these couple games done and some of these cars out of here, um, of course I got more cars coming, but um, I plan on moving some cars out of there up here cuz I have to start working on them. A Mustang and a 59 Impala are coming up here. Um, so I can start working on those. And a I don't know if it's a cut cutless. I don't know what's coming, but another car is coming for a quick paint job. but it runs and drives so I can move it in and out of the building. So, that'll be the third spot. And also, I have a uh Oldmobile Vista Cruiser that is going to be coming here as soon as I get the hood painted, which I was supposed to start working on it this week, but I ended up getting stuck working until 9:00 at night, which really set me behind. But, I got to get that hood dug back out and I got to get it done this week so that he can bring the car because it's going to a car show in the beginning of July and he wants to take it. So, I need to get it done. So, basically, I need to get the hood painted. And then he's going to bring the car and I'm going to spray the fenders to match the hood. And then I got to do a little touch-ups on the roof. Um, so that'll be coming soon.
And once again, another driving vehicle so I can kind of move it in and out. Um, which will be nice. Uh, cuz the other two vehicles are nonmovable. And I got to get some gravel delivered here so I can put it in front of there because I have a six inch lip there because that concrete's six six inches thick. Um I don't want to get asphalt grindings.
Eventually this is all going to be concrete.
Um me and my son and probably somebody else will pour it. We'll do it in sections. Uh but inside the back building, I'm paying somebody to do that because they're going to use a finishing machine and they're going to have four guys here.
Um, and it's too much for me and a couple of my buddies to pour in one day by myself. So, we're just going to get a crew for that in there. They're only pouring a little bit more than half of it now. Well, not now, but once I get everything moved. Um, but anyways, so after I finish that up there and get this door installed, well, I'm going to be working on that while working on car parts and cars and arcade cabinets. So, the next couple weeks, I'm going to be just working on a bunch of stuff. Um, and in the in the time of working on stuff, I'll finish up there and I'll get this door hung and get it painted black and get the trim around those two garage doors. But then the next time I come back to working on the building, I'm going to be putting the roof over those two garage doors and man door just like this garage door has here, 3-foot overhang coming out, and it's going to cover over the top of those two doors and the man door. Um, and then that first window will get changed out to a black window.
And then after that section's done, the next section is going to be putting in the garage door where that second window is. And then I think I'm going to just do a lean to 12t out right there so that I can park the Jeep underneath it. Um because it'll be a little bit easier in the winter time. And if I'm already I want to put a roof over the other garage door like these two. So, I might just enclose that whole and not enclose it, but put that whole area up with uh a lean to roof over it. And then um who knows, maybe I'll enclose part of it or something like that in the future.
But I might as well just get the roof up now before the concrete goes in because once the concrete goes in, which definitely not going to be this year. I cannot afford it this year. I am spending money like water. So, I won't be buying any games or anything for a while, but I have plenty of games to work on for people. And I have plenty of games that I haven't even restored yet sitting in the building. So, we got no worries about that. Unless some swinging deal comes along. That's something super cheap and I want it. That would be the only way I would get it. Um, but I don't see that happening. So, I'm not even going to start working inside the building for a while. Um, the outside is more important right now while the weather is here. Once the weather turns to crap, then I can kind of focus on the inside. So, that's pretty much how I'm going to work this. So, now I'm going to move my van back. Um, get those last couple things off the roof. Move my van back and uh get that uh boat motor cover out here. Sand it down real quick. And we're going to put some paint on it.
I'll just do a high-speed videoing of that. And then, um, I'm going to paint it right outside so it dries fast in the sunlight. And then um we'll go ahead and change the oil on the van and rotate the tires. And then after that, we're going to get the uh we're going to get at least three games moved tonight into here. And if you're wondering how am I going to get them up the 6-in lip, I'm just going to use my dolly. Not a big deal. I got those big tires on it. But anyways, um I don't know if I'll get the Frogger out tonight because I got to move a bunch of stuff. And to be honest with you, the sun on the roof whooped my butt. It is freaking It's only 70Β° out.
It's beautiful out, but up there it's likeund and something because I got there's a black uh asphalt ice guard up there. So, all right, let me quit talking. Let me get some stuff moved around and we'll get that boat part out here. Sand it down real quick, shoot it, and then move on to the van.
All right, turned out pretty good. I'll let it set now and dry. I'll probably take it to him on Tuesday, let it dry, maybe just hit it real lightly with the buffer, but it looks good. So, now I'm going to work on changing the oil in the van. I think it's a 15 mm on the uh drain plug, but I brought a 14, 15, and an 18. Probably should have grabbed a 16.
Six. team like I thought.
Well, check real quick. I forget what size the This has a uh a uh like a canister style filter rather than a regular filter. All right, I grabbed a 16 and a 17.
17.
I'm uh like 3,000 mi over on my oil paint.
But to be honest with you, It's really not that horrible looking.
It's still a little transparent, which is surprising because I don't use expensive oil.
Buy into all that crap.
Now, you're probably wondering, why don't you just take it to get an oil change? A, I don't have time, and B, last time I took my van for an oil change and a tire rotation, it was $120.
I'm going to spend $120. Something I can do myself. And I looked at the tires and I'm not rotating them this time. They don't look bad.
Why is this thing so tight?
I almost need a ratchet.
They put this in the dumbest places. Put it up here.
So, this is the filter. Definitely dark.
Not horrible, believe me, I've seen worse.
So, that's the style filter these take.
And there's an O-ring on the uh thing here that usually comes with a new O-ring.
Grab that.
Had something on the lens of my camera.
Um I do like the Wix filters though. I do think they are a much better filter.
They're definitely a lot more expensive, but I think the filter is kind of where it's at to be honest with you. Just going to kind of get the crap out of the motor.
Man, I made a mess.
Look at that. Brand new now.
So, we got to get this old O-ring off.
flung over there. I'll pick that up in a minute. Put our new O-ring on.
Just roll it on.
Filter in.
This takes 5 W20.
And this thing does make a clicking sound.
Once it clicks a couple times, I stop.
Now I got to put my drain plug back in.
Drain plug looks good. No metal on it.
I think I have 115,000 on this Okay.
Grab my oil. Now I uh my uh funnel is dirty. I have to clean it out. Or I'll make my own funnel out of a gallon or out of a quart.
And I'm not joking, guys. I use cheap oil stuff. I don't care. I've All my vans get 300,000 miles plus out of them.
And I've never used expensive oil.
O'Reilly's motor oil 520. Do you really think there's that many manufacturers out there making different oils just like tools?
Do you really think there's 20 different tool manufacturers making uh you know the motors for the cordless tools? No.
Not going to be able to use this for a funnel. It's too too fat. I'm going to have to just clean that other one out real quick. Let me go clean it out.
This takes I think six quarts. Six full quarts.
Oops. That'll burn off.
Start it for a second.
What the Probably let it sit for a minute, but we'll see where it's at.
Reason why I started it was to fill up that new filter because obviously you can't put oil in the filter because it's a canister style.
We're on the low side.
Just going to put it in there to be close enough.
We're at the high end.
Fine. Got to reset the light.
>> All right. I think resetting the oil light.
I think you turn the key on and pump the gas pedal three times.
Not positive if that's how it is on the Dodge.
Yep. I think I reset it.
I don't know if this has a percentage.
I forget. I don't think so.
Good enough.
Um, coolant looked fine. Uh, the tires feel fine. They're not cupped at all, so I'm going to wait until the next time around. I don't really feel like rotating them right now, but there's no cupping or anything, so I'm I'm good with those. So, all right. I'm going to eat dinner and then I am going to come out here and we're going to move games into this front building. I got to move a few things around. I'm going to clean up my mess here. I got to take my old oil and pour it into that jug. That's why the filter That's why the uh funnel's in there. I'm going to take the old oil out of the thing and pour it into there so I can take it to the recycling. All right, I got to move some stuff around in here. All my building stuff is in the middle. Um, actually, I got to take these tarp these uh drop cloths with me tomorrow.
Shake them out. I have to uh paint an apartment that somebody's moving into on the 15th.
So, need to take those with me to cover the carpet up.
I'm going to kind of stick all my building stuff over here.
Got to have Raid Hornet and was spray.
You never know, man.
Remember I was building a uh a billboard sign thing and I ran into a big wasp nest.
Was not fun.
It's a mess.
Plumbing stuff.
Not going to go crazy cleaning in here.
Just trying to move a few things around.
That should be good.
Open up this overhead door.
This is for the Cadillac. I got to change the oil in that, too.
All right, I'm going to go uh grab the first game.
I will put this on high speed and we'll yank these in here and we'll take a quick look at them again.
Oh. Okay, as you can see, the first cabinet did not want to go over the hump because it's falling apart. So, I just um spun it around and it worked. Okay, so this, believe it or not, was a more expensive cabinet. The one that's all busted up, but the more expensive cabinet came with all the parts to put it together, minus the artwork, obviously. So, as bad as this looks now, it's going to look good when it's done.
Um, but I have all the boards for this.
Um, it came with all the boards. It came with the nicer control panel with that, uh, original shift knob. Uh, came with the power brick, everything to put this game together other than cosmetics. Um, and then the cheaper one was missing all the parts. I had to buy a board set. I had to buy a bunch of stuff for it. So, um, it almost worked out the same price-wise because buying all the parts was just as expensive as buying a complete cabinet with all the parts, if that makes sense.
This one didn't have a control panel either, so I had to buy the control panel separate. And it's got some crappy ass uh pull ball on it for a shift knob.
I got to figure out what that one goes.
I got to figure that out. And I need some handles for the uh for the uh yolk.
But um this Q one with the Q ball goes on the nicer cabinet, the nicer control panel. All these parts over here go on the crappier cabinet, which will be a nice cabinet when it's done. Um pole positions in here. Um I did not dig out Frogger yet. Frogger's farther back in the C in the building and uh I'm whooped. I'm not doing it tonight, but I will get that in there this week. Um, I'm going to shuffle those around in there because I'm going to start on the two uh spy hunters first. But the other uh the other frogger is somewhere back in there, right towards the front, I believe. It's dark in here right now.
But, um, that's my goal is to get those four done first. And then I'm going to take these four right here, three or four for the guy in Michigan. I think there's four. and take those up front and do those after I get these four done. So, these four are going to get done. Then the next four or five, whatever there are, I think there's five, actually. Uh, one, two, three, four, five. Those five will go up there all at the same time. Six. There's six.
Um, those will all go up there at the same time so I can start working on them. Uh, and, uh, that will clear out quite a bit of this building back here.
And then this car and the car next to it are going to be going in the front shop.
And at that point, I think I can shuffle everything that way and be able to pour half of this concrete in here. So, that's where I'm at with that. Uh, so much freaking work to do. But, you know, I'm making progress. And, uh, it's going to be kind of nice to work on these cabinets because, um, while I'm doing body work and stuff like that, I can run around and finish up these couple things on the building, which will work out nice. So, I'm going to order two art kits from Phoenix Arcade. Um, I believe I have the glass for one of the two. Um, I have to I put them somewhere. The mares I believe are both good. Um, are they? This one's missing a marquee. I'll have to look over my notes and my uh video and just go through it and see what came with what. I I know for sure all those parts go to this cabinet. Um, but as far as glass, I think this one came with glass and this one did not.
But that one came with a marquee. So, I'm pretty sure that's what that is about. So, basically, this is going to get a full art kit, both sides, a marquee and a screen bezel. And this one's going to get sides. And I believe I have the screen bezel for this one.
So, I'm pretty positive this one came with a screen bezel. Uh, so that's where I'm at, guys. So, I'm going to take the um pole position and put it back there cuz I want to concentrate on the two spy hunters first. I'm going get those knocked out fast. Not fast, but get them knocked out and then um we'll work on the pole position and the um frogger.
Get those two done. Um, so once the two spy hunters are done, I'll probably stick them along this wall over here and cover them up with tarps and then uh knock out the pole position and the frogger. And then um I can get rid of these four games and get the other six in here for the guy in Michigan. So I can get those done for him. It's nice weather. I want to get them done. He can pick them up. Um and then that'll clear um a decent amount of space in the back building for me to uh get concrete poured back there. So, I'm going to go ahead and end this video. This is just kind of a video of uh a normal day of what I do um every single day in my life. Uh I get a lot done in a day. Uh a lot of people think I'm like a superhero. I'm not. I have a lot of goals in life. And you got to be motivated. That's the only way you're going to make it in this world is you got to be motivated. You know, if you sit around and wait for everybody to do something for you, unfortunately, your life's going to pass on by. And uh that's not me. I want to get stuff done.
It's important to me to do this stuff. I love restoring these games and making them look good again. Like this piece right here is shot. I'm probably just going to make a new piece right there um and replace that. Got a little blowout there. But uh nothing that's not fixable. This is going to get the arcade Jason pole position board in it uh with a regular CRT monitor. So, it'll play just like original, but he'll be able to play all the he'll be able to play Pole Position 2, which has all the courses on it, so that'll work out nice for him.
So, all right, guys. I'm going to end this video. Um, I'll probably when I take this apart, I'm going to label everything. Um, just so I know what who gets what because I I don't want to screw them up. You know what I mean? So, instant, for instance, this is the cheaper cabinet. This one's going to um uh Michigan. Believe this is the Michigan one.
I might have this backwards. I think I do have this backwards. Um I got to go back and look. Um I have this backwards.
This nicer cabinet does not go to Michigan. I'm pretty sure the beatup cabinet goes to to the other guy. That's what it is. Um but The beat up cabinet goes to Michigan.
Yes, this is the nicer cabinet which goes to the guy. Um I I I had said in the video the serial numbers too, so I have everything. 5797.
Um yes, this is the nicer one. Uh this is the one where he gave me all the parts for. Okay, this one goes to Michigan, the beat up one, which once it's done, it won't be beat up. So then this is the control panel that goes to that cabinet over there.
That makes sense because I remember now when I picked it up, this was the cheaper one. It was taped together and it was all beat to That's right. Okay, I'm right.
They both came from the same guy. That's why I got a little confused, but I've cleared it up in my head now.
But I am going to write down the serial numbers on all the parts that I take out of these cabinets on a piece of tape and wrap them around the part so that they'll just go right back into that cabinet. Does that make sense? Like I said, I don't want to short anybody. I want everything to be right. And now that I'm looking at it, I know that I messed up what I said originally. The nicer cabinet does not go to Michigan guy. It goes to the other guy, which I can't think off the top of my head his name right now, but it's in my text messages. But anyways, um 5797 and this already has a tag on here. I'll just write on the bottom corner 5797. So when I pull the harness, I know that that harness goes to this cabinet. Same thing with the power brick. Same thing with the power supply. Same thing with all the other boards, too. I'm just going to label them all, including the monitor, and then we'll just keep everything together like that. As far as like the monitor brackets and stuff like that, that I'm not worried about. It's just the electronic parts and the wiring harness. I want them to go back in the cabinets that they came out of. You know, the monitor brackets and stuff like that. They're all the freaking same. There's nothing to worry about with those. I'm going to pull them out, clean them all, paint them silver, you know, and put it all back together. But these things, look at how bad they are right now. And wait until you see them done. They are going to look brand new.
I'm going to do an awesome job on them.
I want them to be as perfect as I can because that's what these guys want and that's what I'm going to deliver. Just like when I do a game for myself, I make them really, really nice. Uh because why not? If you're doing it, just do it. Do it right and be done with it. So, all right. I'm gonna end this video. I got to move some stuff around and I will see you guys tomorrow. I have no idea what I'm going to be working on tomorrow.
We'll probably, like I said, we'll probably start stripping this apart and uh labeling everything and then uh we can start the body work on them the next day. So, thanks guys. I appreciate it.
And I will see you guys
