This video sharply articulates the erosion of meritocracy, where "entry-level" requirements and ghost listings have turned job hunting into a cynical game of connections. It serves as a necessary indictment of a broken system that prioritizes corporate optics over genuine human potential.

How TF are people getting jobs?Hinzugefügt:
Can somebody tell me how in the world people are getting jobs nowadays?
Specifically younger people. All right.
The average age of a new hire, fun fact here, is 43 years old. That's the highest it has ever been in human history. Worse actually than the Great Depression.
I'm convinced, by the way, that about 60% of job applications that are posted are not real. They h they literally have to be ghost jobs. There's no way they're real because you will apply for a job and then you'll hear nothing back ever.
You could send out 10 applications a day consistently for a month and you might maybe hear back from like three or four of them. I mean that's not an exaggeration at all.
There there's so much wrong. There's so much that makes no sense. For example, right? They'll say it it will say entry level but really what entry level is is they want 2 to 5 years of experience internships now are requiring experience. So the thing that is supposed to give you the experience to actually get a real job now wants experience for the you get are you following here? You need experience for the experience to get the job.
How does that make sense? And then the job doesn't just want experience from a resume. Now it wants experience from two to five years doing a similar job. Well, guess what? If every single entry-level job requires two to five years of experience, then how does somebody actually get a job at the entry level?
It it genuinely makes no sense to me.
And for for some weird weird reason, I know all the statistics point to otherwise, but why does it seem like everybody else is winning, right? Like statistically it's a huge problem that kids out are going out of college and they don't have a job. But tell me why it seems like everyone that I know seems to have something lined up.
At this point it's just blatantly obvious that it's all about connections and nothing to do with actual merit.
Right. If your if your daddy is friends with some guy at a golf course and he has a firm and they're looking for somebody Yeah. they'll they'll hire you.
But guess what? That's not my reality.
And I know if you're watching this video, that's not your reality either.
Like, it's not like we just spawned in and had all these great connections. No, bro. I had nothing. My My entire family works for an insurance company, and you'll catch me dead before I'm doing that. No way.
So, yeah. I mean, we're kind of left for dead here. You know, there's there really is a hidden job market.
If you if you put in an honest effort, even in school, and try with a lot of this stuff, you're you're certainly not guaranteed to land a job in a well-paying job at that because they can leverage the fact that everybody's desperate. A resume will say, "Oh, the salary is anywhere from 40k a year to 90k a year." And what that really means is you're getting 40k. and we're going to see how desperate you are and if you're actually going to bite at the 40k. The companies, they have all the leverage here. It's really, this is a losing game for the honest working man.
The worst part about this is that it's not it like the saying, it's not what you know, but who you know, is absolutely true. And sometimes this can work to your favor. But once again, as I was saying before, if you're an average person, if you don't come from a wealthy family that has all these connections, sometimes it can be hard. Now, I'm not one of those people that believes in just, you know, rolling over and just accepting the reality and not trying to improve the your situation. Like, I think you should try, but sometimes you really do try and it doesn't get you anywhere. And that's what I think is is tough because I'm not it's hard to speak to other times in in American history.
But for me at least, I I feel like in the past that wasn't the case. Like when my parents were were, you know, trying to start their careers and work up, it's like number one, the purchasing power now would need to be you would need to make $66 as the minimum wage to have the equivalent purchasing power as our grandparents. So that's cooked. And then even with our parents, it was still much different. Like the average home was like $85,000.
Now it's over $400,000.
in every aspect, we're just screwed. And here's the I've talked about this before, but I'm 22 years old. If you're around my age, you probably experienced this, too, where there's there's never been a period in your life where like of which you were actually financially responsible for yourself where the economy was ever getting better. It's only ever been getting worse. Like what is it 20 for me when I really had to be financially responsible? It was like 2019 I want to say when it started 2019 2020 right when COVID hit and from there it's just been it's been terrible. So yeah, what are you what are you going to do to to get a good paying job? And this this is deeper than just paying the bills. It's also about when you're so desperate you start working jobs that you hate. I mean even when you're not desperate most people work jobs that they hate. But it it sucks. It's like what? I don't understand why everyone is is in this mindset of basically, hey, I just need to get by because getting by is not living. That's just existing. But you're not living.
But yeah, we're all so screw it. All of the young parents, I mean, I feel for them. Single mothers, are you kidding me? How do I I genuinely don't know how they do it. How do you take care of children by yourself and pay all the bill? I I genuinely don't like I I truly have empathy for these people. Um but yeah, there's there's even these things I've been hearing about called ghost jobs. So, some jobs they're not even they're not real. They're not actively hiring. Companies just post listings.
Like I said at the beginning of this video, just in case what they're trying to do is make it seem like they're hiring, make it seem like they're more desirable, increase their market value to candidates.
All it does is waste time and energy.
Now you have all these applicants that are maybe you're giving them false hope.
That's why you're doing it. I think it's messed up. I truly do.
The uncomfortable truth is that it's really not just you. It's actually the majority of the system right now. The majority of the fault falls on the system. So there's more competition, more filters, less human interaction.
when you submit a resume, if it can't seduce an AI with the right, you know, keywords or whatever, then you're not even gonna be seen, your resume won't even be seen by a real human. I think I saw a statistic that said it's expected that by 2027 that 80% of all applications will never be seen by a human. So, yeah, you better you better figure out how you can uh you know, turn on an AI. It's just I can't even believe I'm saying that. This is just the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Late stage capitalism right there.
And how you counter it is by creating a resume with AI yourself. So now you have AI talking to AI. This can't even be a real world right now.
Luck plays a bigger role than people would like to admit. As I was saying before, a lot of it's about connections.
I think the best the the best workable solution to this is you just need to be like depressingly ambitious. And why when I say depressionally ambitious, I mean put yourself in every possible room, shake every possible hand you can do. I think that's ridiculous. I think that's stupid. But that's what you have to do at this point. You just have to woo somebody that has some um you know level or role at a place that they can help you out. My best friend, he's an architect and he could not get a good job lined up. And then they actually had a career fair at his college. And he went there and the entire architecture program was actually studying abroad, but he decided not to go. And so he had no competition at this career fair for all the architecture firms that were there. And so he got to go and he shook hands with everybody. Genius on his part. And then he got his pick of the litter. He got an offer from like all of them. And you know, I'm h I'm really happy for my boy.
But that's just like the stuff. If you're like me, I do college remotely.
They're you're screwed, right? I I just literally I'm not even kidding you guys.
I do all my like this is my computer right here. Every day I just sit down right here. I do all my homework. I don't talk to anybody. I don't It's just I got to lock in by myself. It's kind of depressing actually. And I've had that I did that for my last my first two years I did in person in my in these past two years. I graduate in like um a month from now. But yeah, it's I'm on this home stretch right now. And to be totally honest with you guys, it's not as pressing with me as it is for a lot of other people because I do have social media going for me and I've started to make a little bit of money. Not nothing crazy, but at least enough to where I can support myself enough like if I if I am frugal. But yeah, it it's I I can't tell you how many people I know that are experiencing the same thing, but at the same time, how many people I know that somehow got on the lucky end of it or it's not all luck. I'm not going to sit here and play the victim like like it's 100% my fault, but a lot of it, yeah, the system is just it's rigged. It it's I don't know. But those are my thoughts. Thank you guys for watching.
