This Drain Pan MELTED and Flooded the Basement!

[00:00:00]The drain pan literally melted and flooded the entire basement.

[00:00:04]This customer called us because they had water everywhere, but nothing was making it into the condensate pump.

[00:00:11]The drain pan was completely warped and melted, letting all that water pour straight into the furnace.

[00:00:17]This doesn't just happen overnight.

[00:00:20]This was years in the making.

[00:00:22]Most likely caused by a poor airflow from a heavily clogged evaporator coil combined with a faulty high limit switch that allowed the system to overheat.

[00:00:32]So, here's what we did.

[00:00:34]First, we removed the coil and gave it a full cleaning to restore proper airflow.

[00:00:39]Then we installed a brand new drain pan and slid the evaporator coil back into place.

[00:00:45]The high limit switch had already been replaced over the winter, so that issue was taken care of.

[00:00:51]After that, we brazed the coil back in with a new filter dryer, flushed nitrogen through the system, and pulled a vacuum to make sure everything was clean and leak-free.

[00:01:03]We got everything sealed back up, and now it's draining exactly how it should, straight into the condensate pump. No more flooding.
