I spun a couple wheels to determine what random build you guys, the build relay community, would get to collectively play and share progress on, and you guys got detonate dead titan. Ouch. This one was going to be rough. I think we all knew that. But a few of you stuck through the pain of leveling this build and really came out on top of some interesting interpretations. We'll be looking at three distinct detonate dead titans today, submitted by members of the community. And if you want to partake in future community random builds, make sure to join the Discord in the description. Before jumping in, let me just explain why detonate dead is such a difficult skill to build around.
It requires a corpse from dead enemies in order for it to detonate. And during the campaign, that's a problem. The simplest way to reliably have corpses around you is to use the sacrifice spirit gem, allowing you to use your skeletal minions as corpses. But you only get access to that at more or less the time you finish the campaign, which is kind of far. So suffice it to say, hats off to everyone who gave this build a try. I know it would not have been easy. All right, let's get to it. First up, we have a newcomer, Moraf, with his high investment double DD Titan.
Here's what he had to say about the build. If you read this and choose this build to show, thanks so much. I've watched many of your videos and also approached this game in a make it work with what you have kind of way. When you opened up the challenges to the community, I thought it would be fun.
Thanks for joining. By Dead is not exactly a viable bossing skill, but I was determined to find a way to make it work. Luckily, the league was long and I had a large budget. I probably spent about 5 to 6k divines while building this guy. Clearing trash is relatively easy. Even juiced up abyss rares can be handled without much issue. Main focus for pretty much all my choices were how to get more burst damage on bosses.
Running out of minions isn't death. It just makes you dodge mechanics until they revive, but it is annoying. This is why in charge is preferable to a more powerful rare wand. individual casts might hit harder with a rare wand, but you run out of minions so much faster, making you wait for the next minion revive cycle anyway. That makes sense to me. The build requires a rattling scepter plus sacrifice for boss damage.
I know there's a zombie spectre with better HP to spirit ratio, but they move too slowly and aren't viable for all bosses. It would also require a gear swap for clear to which I am allergic.
Black Flame Covenant, crit DS, spell damage, percent damage, area damage, mana regen, shock magnitude were the passive tree priorities. That's a lot of priorities. I didn't scale minion HP or chaos damage here because those only affect a portion of the damage output.
The second weapon set is to scale sigil of power and despair. Mana is a big problem on the boss skill I linked. I'm pounding my mana flask every few seconds. This is why I have mana remnants, which makes clearing much more tolerable. Not consistent for bosses, though. This is also why I have night scale. It didn't make sense for me to go down the life conversion route since it tanks my survivability and it's not like DD is some powerhouse like comet would be. Crit is a big part of the build because of night scale, but also because it's a multiplier for both portions of detonate dead's damage. I also add cast on crit as well and generate charges to take advantage of charge regulation for more crit and energy shield. It's pretty inconsistent for bosses, but 100% uptime on clearing. Withering presence and despair are straight up damage multipliers. really cool, dude. Um, morph, I I would have like probably done a similar interpretation of the detonate dead titan. This is like the classic way that I would have thought to do it using sacrifice potentially and charge as well and just like scaling the spell damage as much as possible and you know grit and all that. Very cool to see a I guess I want to say like vanilla but also very high investment version of this build just to show like what it can do. So um very cool. Thank you for sharing. Let's move on. jump on to the second submission. Uh we're going to be taking a look at Oen's werewolf wolf pack detonate dead extraordinaire. Here's what Ogen had to say. So here's how it goes. For mapping, I use pounce followed by cross slash and detonate dead any survivors. Spread some thunderstorm to group them up and add shock for rares.
For bossing, it is a bit tricky.
Entangle to break armor. Cross slash then consumes armor break and smelting ends up adding another 20% more fizz damage to that. Use Infernal Cry with Echoing Cry to add fire damage that boosts pounce and cross slash. And to survive, it's a mix of everything.
Blasphemy with infeeble curse, holy descent on Pounce, and Time of Need. And the surprising part is the wolves with Last Gasp. Why, you might be asking?
It's because they leap forward with their pounces and body block projectiles for you so that you don't get hit by all these incoming projectiles. It's like one of those defensive layers that you wouldn't think of, but it's just like the minions are in the way actually protecting you. Very cool. I also made the wolf figure with hulking. For the flavor of the build, I made them unstable with inferno legion. So, it's not detonate dead, but still on theme.
Very cool. Also, I annoyed my amulet with sturdy ally to give them an extra 950 HP, making them tankier and I guess explode for a bit more. Uh, very, very, very cool take on the detonate dead titan. Obviously, in this setup, detonate dead is not exactly the focus of the build, but it's still there for flavor. you're still using it for your clearing. Cool to see this interpretation with the wolf pack and the minion instability. I I do really think that's pretty pretty dang sweet.
Um with the infernal legion and all that, having them also blow up in your shape-shifting wolf and your wolves blow up and then you're also dead and dead just like this whole collection of this theme. Very very cool. Uh plus this time around your resistances are capped which is nice. Actually all of these builds the uh the EHP is is quite nice. I think uh these are tankier builds. Well, I mean, you're on a Titan, so I guess tankiness is part of the deal, but uh it's good to see that uh we're not looking at just like squishy squishy builds all the time. So, very cool. And finally, last but not least, we have another returning build creator. It's Alex G with his big ass hammer goes bonk detonate dead titan hybrid. Here's what Alex had to say. All right, so for this build, I decided not to use detonate dead with sacrifice and minions. So, basically pretty simple. I took the biggest club I could find and smash it really hard on the first mobs I see to create a corpse and then just chain detonate dead everywhere. Of course, bossing requires me to only smash really hard with my big stick. But going hybrid spells and melee made me work my weapon specialization skills and made me better at splitting my passives. By doing a hybrid approach, he focused on using the weapon skill passives to actually split the passive tree points into the different weapon sets, which is something that I myself would like to become better at. It's something that I don't do in my builds and I really really feel like I should be doing that.
I'm not taking advantage of that system.
So, very cool to see that this inspired you to do that. I'm going to be trying to do that in my next one for sure.
Combined with curses thunderstorm, the build resembles the mountain tribal titan shaman. that that's a mouthful, but yeah, definitely it's it's pretty cool having all of these like the spells, the detonate dead, the thunderstorm, and then as well, you're just going full bonk mode. Then I focused on tanking and went with full life regen with zealous oath and became basically unkillable except for one shot. So like very high life regen. I went into the lava of the Molten Forge boss to smack him and I was able to survive the Arbiter's Ultra Beam for a couple of seconds just to show you how tanky it was. Super cool. This is definitely a different take on the DD.
Uh, you know, you're basically just chain DD in in again like for clearing, which makes sense. I think DD for bossing like unless you use sacrifice, we're not in a position where we can really do that. Um, but yeah, super super cool. Good job. Good job, Alex G.
