In criminal investigations, 'consciousness of guilt' refers to behaviors that indicate a suspect knows they are guilty, such as fleeing jurisdiction, hiring anonymous intermediaries to move property, and disabling tracking devices; these actions suggest the suspect is attempting to evade detection and prosecution, which law enforcement uses as evidence to build cases and justify arrests.

The Brian Hooker Question: Has He Left the Jurisdiction?Added:
Good morning everyone. Bill Cannon here from Police Off the Cuff, Tuesday the 19th of May. You know, a lot of people have been writing me and texting and making comments on the podcasts, specifically the ones I do outside here in my beautiful yard, um, about where is Brian Hooker and how do we know he's not fled the jurisdiction?
Well, look, we don't know that right now. But the other thing is we as podcasters can't go looking for him because the authorities don't have enough yet to make an arrest. They could arrest him, right? I believe that they have probable cause right now. However, if they arrest him and they're not ready to prosecute the case to take him to a trial where they can get a guilty verdict with a jury, they're going to hold off. time is on the side of law enforcement, not on the side of Brian Hooker.
So many things that he's done in this case would indicate as professor Mike Giri says consciousness of guilt from his body language to his story to his fleeing to the US from the Bahamas to him hiring two anonymous captains to us to take that boat the soulmate the 46 foot sailboat to Florida where it was seized 40 miles off the coast of Melbourne.
All of those things are consciousness of guilt. In addition, the two captains, why did they turn off the GPS on that sailboat? The salt made. Someone has had said to me something that was very interesting. Did they go take that boat out to sea specifically to trash it perhaps to blow it up and and take off?
I I Interesting. Very interesting. I don't think so because why would they have traveled so far from the Bahamas to do that? Why wouldn't they just go out 15 20 miles into the ocean and do it there instead of getting awfully close to uh Melbourne, Florida, 40 nautical miles off the shore. And we're all waiting to hear what did the Coast Guard recover in their search warrant in the search warrant of the sailboat soulmate that belonged to Brian and Lynette Hooker. That was basically their home.
What type of evidence did they recover?
Is that evidence enough to put handcuffs on Brian Hooker? Well, we don't know that now. But we, like everyone else, have to wait to see what this case uncovers, where it goes, and when, if, in fact, he will be charged, when Brian Hooker will be taken into custody.
These are all questions that we have.
Anyway, thank you so much for listening.
I'm Bill Cannon from Police Off the Cuff.
