[00:30:30]It's Saturday morning. I'm setting off from my house and I'm going without a dog. Don't tell Todd, but I'm going on a walk with the walking festival. So, I'm walking down this little path which will take me into our village.

[00:30:43]And then I will go into the hall and have a drink and some biscuits and then we'll all set off. The walk I'm going on is going from the next village to us which is called Dog Garag. It's only a few miles down the valley and where we're going to set off from there is um a memorial because there was a dam disaster. The lake at the top of the hill, the dam burst its banks and the water flooded the village. It's just over 150 years ago and a lot of people were killed, but a lot were saved because they were at chapel because it was Sunday morning. So the people who went to chapel weren't in their homes when the dam burst and all the water came down and flooded the valley. So I suppose some people could say it was divine intervention.

[00:31:32]So this is our chapel. It's only used very occasionally for special services and weddings and things these days. A friend of mine is getting married in July and she's getting married in this chapel which is very pretty. They only use part of it I believe these days.

[00:31:49]Obviously, back in the day, Chapel was very big in Wales. And uh as you can see, it's quite an imposing building.

[00:31:59]Very nice steps. I should think I'll get some nice photos of the bride coming down the steps. And then to the left is our little church.

[00:32:08]And that is used just a little bit. I've been to someone's funeral there once, which was uh it's very cozy church. We have a service a few times a year there like a com um Christmas carols and things like that, Easter services. It's quite a pretty little church. And then I go down down the village here. There's the main road just straight across the road into the village hall. So this is the start of the walk and this is where the memorial to the damn disaster is.

[00:32:38]And these massive rocks here were the rocks that were washed down the hill.

[00:32:44]So you can see the houses are ruined by look at this lovely little cottage in the woods. It's a pottery.

[00:32:54]People make pottery in the summit and the owner said it was okay to vlog it.

[00:32:59]So we're here in the ruined village of Awith. Last people who lived here were in 1928 and somebody left their mangle and that's they used to turn the handle and put the washing through the middle of there. for people to dry their clothes.

[00:33:15]I think it would have taken Kate quite a while with her washing load to get a washing dry. We've walked up a very steep hill to get to here anyway. But it's very, very pretty. It's a little bit like an Amazonian rainforest. Very nice. So, we've walked right up this hill. We're high up on the top of the hill here. And you can see right across the Conway Valley. The brown part is the riverbed. And when the tide's in, that will fill up with water.

[00:33:41]The lump you can see at the top there is our destination. We've come quite a long way up. It's called Penagaya which means hillfort.

[00:33:52]We managed to make the best of what we could find to sit on.

[00:33:56]Nice bit of farm machinery made a nice seat.

[00:34:07]>> Well, we've ended up at the home of a man who's made this sculpture >> and it's copy of one in Bondant gardens just down the valley. We're in the garden of a sculptor.

[00:34:18]This is a sculpture that he's done of the last supper of the 12 apostles and he made that all himself and it's life size basically or even a bit bigger perhaps.

[00:34:31]We've just had a stop for lunch. It's now raining just very lightly and that's the summit that we're aiming for. And there's an Iron Age fort up there or remains of one burial mounds. It's been a very pretty walk. Lots of nice bird song.

[00:34:46]You can see the river right the way down the valley there.

[00:34:52]Enjoyed it so far, but I think we're going to get wet on the last bit. Never mind. It'll be worth it when we get there. I'm at the summit and it's very, very windy. So, I'll just show the pictures without speaking because it's going to be very windy.

[00:35:20]We've walked nearly all day and we finally see some sheep.

[00:35:24]Very hardy Welsh mountain sheep. Move off and I don't scare them.

[00:35:30]On the way back down, we've come across a ruined farmhouse.

[00:35:34]Apparently, it was only vacated in 1920s.

[00:35:38]And I presume that these are the buildings for the animals.
