Tenants what should you do if your landlord increases rent every year #tenants #landlordsAdded:
As a tenant, what should you do if your landlord keeps increasing rent every single year? What should you do? Now, it's important you know this that if you live in Los State and um your tenency is governed by the Lagos State Teny Law 2011.
It's important to know that there is no law regulating when your landlord should in increase rent or when your landlord should not increase rent because of that lacuna in the law. Your landlord can definitely increase rent every single year if your landlord choose not to. So legally your landlord can morally we can say maybe he should not. That's the challenge.
That's the challenge. The challenge is that there is no law that says your landlord cannot. Now, the only thing the law provides is that if your landlord increases his rent and that rent is beyond um it's unreasonable. For instance, your landlord increase his rent from you are paying 500,000 every month. Your landlord increases from 500,000 to 3 million. The law sees that kind of increment as an unreasonable increment. So what does the law says?
The law says that if your landlord increase your rent unreasonably, you can file a case in court for your landlord to review that rent for the court sorry to review their rent and the court in reviewing their rent. The court is going to consider certain factors and one is the one of the factors the court to consider is the prevalent um rent in that environment. This apartment you are living what is the current rent in that environment. So those things the court will look at it then the court will not arrive. So if your landlord is increasing rent every year and you don't want to pack out the next line of action if dialogue is not working is you take him to court. That's what the law provides to protect tenants. Take your landlord to court and ask the court to review the rent. That is just it. Did you gain value from the video?
