The tragic genius behind modern radio: Edwin Howard Armstrong.Added:
Hello and welcome to a new series here on this week in amateur radio. I'm Will Rogers K5WLR TWIAR's historian.
From the most interesting mind of Philip Nedlinger KA4KOE comes the next chapter in a new series called Dead Electrical Dudes. This is a truly radical look at the past of radio development. Philip has presented these dudes on eHam over the last several years and has kindly granted us permission to use his materials here on TWIAR.
And so we continue with Dead Electrical Dudes number three.
This chapter stiff Major Edwin Howard Armstrong entered mortal coil 18 December 1890, assumed room temperature 31 January 1954.
Major Armstrong, inventor, ham, patriot.
We radio amateurs and the rest of the world for that matter owe a great debt of gratitude to this month's dead electrical dude, Major Edwin Howard Armstrong. Howard's inventions form the basis for all modern radio communications devices.
