Michael's Robot Has a Drinking Problem...
Added:Hi friends, welcome back. It's Ina and we're going to watch another highly requested Michael Reeves video called teaching a robot dog to pee beer. Of course, it's another animal themed video. Let's get started.
>> So there's this company called Boston Dynamics. Their whole purpose in life is to create the [music] most advanced robots the world has ever seen. They've gone from nothing to heroin bot that snorts crack and just wriggles around on the ground.
>> First of all, this video very ahead of its time. I think this video is from five to six years ago, but now in 2026, I think we have the biggest craze about robotics ever. From dancing robots to different brands making robot dogs and having them compete with each other.
This is really cool. [music] So good job Michael in being the frontrunner of this trend.
>> To actual moving quadruped robot to this insanely advanced robotic dog named Spot. It can map its environment and learn [music] in real time from things around it. It can traverse terrain that robots could previously never walk on.
It's the culmination of 30 years of [music] research and development. It's an engineering masterpiece.
>> I wasn't sure if he's joking about the heroin dogs, but we actually have prescribed heroin programs as a part of the opioid addiction programs. So if we can somehow utilize the dogs in helping patients somehow, that that would be really cool.
>> I want to make it piss beer into a cup, so It was two years ago when I watched the reveal trailer for Spot on the Boston Dynamics YouTube channel and I lost my goddamn mind. It was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. It was a robot that could move like a dog. I had to see it in person. So what did I do?
>> I think for sure if two years ago from this video, this would be eight years ago from today, everyone's mind would have been blown by this. I think when I first saw this dog at a auto show in Vancouver, >> [music] >> they had one that was dancing around in the middle of the show floor and this was maybe about three to four years ago.
I was blown away. But now in 2026, [music] we're seeing light year speed advancement in robotics, and we're even seeing things [music] like exoskeletons.
Kudos to all these robotics company for making such advancements. [music] >> I messaged them. I emailed them. I even tweet >> Please, please, please. I'll do anything, bro. Please, just let me see the robot dog. It's so [ __ ] sick. A very [music] sincere attempt, I must say.
>> at them. I would do anything for a Boston Dynamics robot dog to just be here. [music] And what did they say?
"We're only giving it out to construction companies." And of course, I was torn about that. What am I going to do? So, I just accepted it, moved >> Oh my god, I thought he was going to say, "What am I going to do? Of course, I'm going to start my own construction [music] company."
>> on. And then 2 weeks later, what do I see but Adam Savage gallivanting around with the robot dog? Does he look like [laughter] a construction company? No, those bastards lied to me. And so, I waited.
>> Actually, it kind of does. Kind [music] of looks like a construction site in the background. I don't know. Maybe he's actually using the dog for construction purposes, Michael.
>> lied to me. And so, I waited, and I waited, and I waited until Spot became publicly available. And then with the help of [music] Offline TV and the sponsor I lied to about where the entire budget was going, there's a Boston Dynamics robot dog right >> No way! These things are expensive.
They start at $75,000.
$75,000? [music] Oh my god, he actually got his hands on one.
>> And it's the coolest [ __ ] thing I've ever seen in my entire life. Look at it.
It's so sick. You can control some of its movement with this little baby [ __ ] Nintendo Switch controller.
>> Hey, that's actually really cool. [music] I did not know you can control it with a Nintendo-like controller? What?
That's cool.
>> let you write code for it, and the API documentation is only kind of ass. At that point, you don't even need the [ __ ] GameCube controller [music] cuz you can run it entirely off of a written on a computer. The level of advancement is just staggering. It feels like I'm holding a piece of the future in my hands every time I execute code on. And above >> Okay, the entire concept of using code to control machinery is just so cool. I think in my last goldfish reaction video, I talked about how I want to learn coding again and to maybe make a a beginner product that someone can actually use and maybe I'll set that as a goal for 2026. And maybe I'll make a video of myself learning code from zero as a beginner and making a product.
>> Everything. It's just so [ __ ] cool.
[laughter] It's so sick.
>> It's so sick.
>> But you still lied to me.
You lied to me, Boston Dynamics. And so you're going to have to watch as I turn your state-of-the-art robot dog into a machine that pisses beer [music] into a cup for me to drink. Why specifically that?
Because it sounded funny. I don't [ __ ] know.
Let's say I want to get shit-faced, you know, to cope. But eventually, my beer's going to be gone, but my sadness isn't.
So what am I going to do? Fill it myself like some [ __ ] Neanderthal? No.
Here's what I want.
>> No, I'll teach a robot how to do it.
>> Boston Dynamics pissbot over there to use its cameras and survey the room for any red solo cups on the ground. If it detects one, I want it to move over to it, position itself above it, and piss me a nice tall glass of beer so that I don't have to.
>> Oh yes, we learned this from the goldfish video. He also used a color detection model. He can track the goldfish because it's a different color from the background. Yes, we're learning here. We're learning here.
>> guess it can [ __ ] off and find more cups to piss in. And you got to start somewhere, right? So let's start where most things do. That's right, the penis.
This is my first prototype of the penis.
And by prototype, I mean this is what's going on the dog. I'm not going to make another one. Like all penises, it's a two-axis gimbal driven by servo motors.
>> That's very true. The male genitals have two sphincters to control the output.
>> One is left and right and up and down all to aim this guy, which is I guess kind of like the urethra. It's what's being fed the pressurized beer. Using water right now, but it's using it like a solenoid to control it and >> That sounds a little true, making it more like a male urethra, which is anatomically longer. Usually that means in humans it's harder to get bacteria infection because of the length. In this case in the dog, making it longer will help you get less outside contaminations in your beer.
>> For a better example, it's facing straight down like it will be when it's attached to the dog and I can move it around and reposition and kind of aim the piss so that >> The aim.
>> Oh, yes.
>> [laughter] >> Which is kind of cool. But the thing is, I'm the one aiming the piss. We need a way for the dick to detect the cup and aim itself automatically. I'm thinking a camera and some sort of computer vision system thing.
>> Camera, detect a difference in the pixel, right, in the cup cuz it's red, and then recognizes it, aims it, and then shoots.
>> That was a [ __ ] idea from the start and I hate you forever.
>> It turns out when you run computer vision stuff on a Raspberry Pi, you get like two frames a second cuz it just can't process the images fast enough.
That or I'm stupid and set it up wrong.
Probably the second one, honestly. But either way, it's not fast enough to track the cup. But ooga booga caveman brain idea, we don't need the computer to understand that this is a cup. All we need is for it to see all the brightest pixels in the image [music] because the inside of the cup is entirely white. So I wrote this code that generates a mask of the brightest pixels on the screen and then it literally just averages their position. It's maybe the smallest IQ solution I could have come up with, but it works [ __ ] amazing. But Michael, what happens when the floor is also white? Won't the camera get confused and not be able to track the cup? Well, first of all, [ __ ] you, smart ass. But also yes, you're right. You can see that the camera's having a super hard time differentiating between the bright pixels on the floor >> Okay, solution solution. You can't really change the color of the floor, right? Unless he actually goes ahead and puts like a dark carpet. What else can you do? Will that work?
>> cup. But there's a pretty easy work around. First, you dynamically set the camera's brightness on startup. And two, you just light the shot. And now, all that's being detected is the cup. This is >> Make it brighter.
>> Thanks to a quirky little physics thing that Veritassium would call the inverse square law, and I would call light get more [music] dim when it more farther away. And since the cup is closest to the light source, it will always have the brightest pixels in the frame.
Please don't trust anything I just said.
I didn't go to school. I'm stupid. I'm not a physicist.
>> Don't make sense, though. I was thinking make the cup darker and you detect the darkest pixel, but if you make it the brightest thing in the end view, then you detect the brightest pixels. And that That makes sense to >> all been wrong. It could have all completely been wrong, but it but it still works. It still works, right? So, yeah. Now, when we combine the camera system with the penis, it can aim itself perfectly at the cup anywhere it is in the frame. And when I leave it alone for a while, >> What?
Wait.
>> [laughter] >> Perfect cup of beer every time.
>> So foamy, [music] so rich. Great dark amber color. This is like the color of pee if you haven't drank water in a day.
Oh, by the way, if you enjoy watching chemists and engineers working with pee, I have another reaction video to Nile Red turning pee into other chemicals.
So, I'll link that down below.
>> Perfect cup of beer [music] every time.
Oh my god, it [ __ ] worked. I never tested that before. I was like 95% uh sure it would [ __ ] >> What is this misty spray at the end?
That's so interesting. I don't know if this is just a screw up or is this on purpose? Are we misting over another layer of I don't know different flavor of beer on top to make it all blend in nicely?
>> It's time to attach it to the dog, but how How we do that? Maybe we can use >> god.
>> movie magic. I forgot to >> I was just going to say poor dog. He's lying belly up, completely helpless, just waiting for his master to do the right thing, but uh there we go. It's It's already all connected, [music] isn't it?
>> record the attachment process. Let me go find someone to test this.
>> Okay.
>> Hey, buddy, pal. Let's go and get some cool thing to test.
>> So, you're famously alcoholic among us.
>> Wait, no, I'm not.
>> So, this is really going to suit you very well. And welcome into the garage.
>> Why is the robot dog chained up?
>> Why is he chained up? That I have the exact same question. Well, we'll have to release the hound and see.
>> Let me set the scene. Ignore the sex swing robot on.
>> burned out.
>> Now, you can get your fix. You don't have to fill the cup yourself. Uh-oh, empty cup, nothing in the cup. You don't want to pour it yourself. You don't want to pour the >> [laughter] >> You're an alcoholic among. Take the cup, put the cup under the robot dog's crotch.
>> Like right That's the crotch part, right?
>> [screaming] [laughter] >> It's overflowing.
>> a nice cup of beer. Claim your prize.
>> Why [screaming] is it spraying?
>> I haven't got coded that part out yet.
>> Okay. Okay, so the spray was not a necessary part of the peeing.
>> And that's yours to keep, even.
>> Oh, wow.
>> Yeah. And have you noticed you haven't drank the beer yet? You got to drink the beer, buddy. Buddy, buddy, you got to >> [laughter] >> I call that a success for the penis.
Now, all we got to do is teach Spot the robot to move around the room to any red solo cup it can see. Originally, I was going to use the onboard cameras for this, but the quality on the onboard cameras is it's It's rat [ __ ] It's like a VHS tape from the 1990s. The TensorFlow model I've been using to detect the cup does not play well with the camera quality at all. But, luckily, Boston Dynamics sells an improved camera attachment for Spot. So, we just need to head to their site and pick one up.
>> 29,750 dollars. And you don't even get it next day. Ships Ships. Okay, not delivered.
It ships in 6 to 8 weeks. [music] This just takes way too long.
>> I bought this security camera on Amazon for $30.
>> And it's next day delivery.
>> Just take the output wire of your camera and adapt it over to RCA. Now that you got RCA set up, we're going to plug it into your RCA to HDMI converter. And we all know the output of that bad boy is going in your wireless HDMI transmitter, which of course sends signal over [laughter] to the a wireless HDMI receiver. And then that is going to go back to [ __ ] wired HDMI. Plug in the It's just that easy. Now you can vlog yourself on a wireless security camera.
Or [ __ ] What was I doing? Oh, right.
Right, to put it on a robotic dog so it can piss beer into cups. Why have I not said this out loud before? Why am I doing this?
>> Sorry about that. Me. About me. But look at this. I've cleared the dog's astigmatism and it can finally see clearly enough for us to teach it how to find one of these.
>> All right, I'm going to put the program I wrote for Spot up on the screen now. I know you kind of have to be a giga genius to understand code, but let's try to walk through some of the advanced logic I used to program the dog. If Spot sees the cup to the left of the screen, >> I actually know what that is.
That's an if loop.
I learned about the if loops and the for loops.
>> screen, he turns left. If Spot sees the cup to the right of the screen, it turns right.
And now maybe the most advanced concept in Spot's programming, if it sees the cup in the middle of the screen, he will walk over to it and place his dick above it.
>> Oh.
>> I I unattached the dick. But you you get it. You get it, right? Is it not sick as [ __ ] Is it not cool? It's a security camera, right? So, I think the idea is you give it some sort of idle animation.
I just set it to spin around in circles, and then you're chilling. You're day drinking with the boys. No, you're not.
You've been in quarantine, and you haven't seen anyone for 8 months. You're sad, and you're drinking alone, and I don't want to fill up my cup when I'm sad and drinking alone.
>> Can we get a few more idle animations, please? I want to see sitting down on hind legs waiting for master's next instruction, and maybe also nudge at someone's ankle. That'll be pretty cool.
>> plop it near the cup.
Aw, no. I wish that it tested it before.
You know that whole spiel.
>> Okay, one more.
Oh.
>> Oh. Cup. It [ __ ] worked.
>> Hey, Gamers.
>> Piss cup.
>> Wait, it [ __ ] works. Why didn't it work the first time? Then it works. It the first time was a fluke, and I have to fix nothing. Yes. Go, [ __ ] Yes.
Yes, go.
Piss in your cup.
That's so [ __ ] sick.
That's so cool.
That's so [ __ ] cool.
That's all the discrete parts. That's the dick. That's the pissing. That's the moving yourself around the room to the cup. I just have to [ __ ] mush them together.
>> [snorts] >> Welcome to the future of alcoholism.
>> Nice.
>> We've been there before. All cup and no beer.
That ends today.
>> [laughter] >> Introducing Boston Dynamics Pissbot.
Nope, not Boston Dynamics. Please stop sending us cease and desists. Pissbot.
Just Pissbot.
>> If this company was Nintendo, pretty [music] sure Michael would have already gotten a lawyer letter or two.
>> Hours of research have resulted in the most advanced beer pissing robot the world's ever seen. All at the flick of a switch.
>> Maybe.
Wow. Wow.
So advanced, it's [music] in a Tupperware.
>> [laughter] [laughter] >> Bum, pa, bum, pa.
Robot dog.
You can be wherever you want, right?
That's the magic of it. You put it on the ground and you just back away.
>> It sees It sees It approaches.
>> Oh my Wait. Oh my >> Oh, it works.
>> Hey, it kind of worked. It kind of worked. You know what? That's kind of like real dogs.
My dog used to poop, but then he she would like walk while pooping. So, she her poop would come out like not fully done yet and then she'll be walking and we would have to like make sure she stays on the same piece of grass. This is Maybe this is just a dog thing.
>> Do it again. Do it again. Oh no, the tank pressure. Oh god, it's slipping in the piss. Oh no, it's actually slipping.
Oh no. Do it again. Go.
>> Oh my god. Oh my Oh my god.
>> It's perfect. Uh >> [laughter] >> The controller for you bastards that think someone's controlling it.
I absolutely did not doubt that someone was controlling it. I think if someone was controlling it, it would work a little bit better than this.
>> No way.
>> No, wait.
Wait.
Where is it?
My dog.
>> Look.
>> Hey, I see him come up here.
>> Then you barely even notice him. He's just sitting in the corner of your house.
And he just like waits until uh someone else needs their beer filled. Come on, you're really embarrassing me in front of the people right now, honestly.
>> Well, this is Asian childhood trauma from any parents asking you to perform something in front of your relatives while you're totally not prepared.
>> [laughter] >> Oh my god. Oh my god.
>> Come on.
Come on, boy. Come on, boy. You know you can do it.
>> I just feel bad for a spot.
Okay.
>> [laughter] [screaming] >> And then you just grabbed >> Oh my >> Oh my god.
>> Oh my >> Oh no.
>> No, no, no. Move over here, but no, don't go to the piss. Don't go back to the piss.
Move this >> Oh my god.
>> [laughter] >> Of all the terrain that Boston Dynamics tested, you know, like mountainous, water, ocean, they probably didn't think someone would use it on hardwood floor with beer on top.
God [ __ ] dammit.
>> Pissbot is working flawlessly. 35% off.
>> I can see that.
>> It's working so well that I wanted to hop on a Zoom call and show this innovation to Boston Dynamics, but guess which company ghosted me? One >> Boston Dynamics plus Michael Reeves. Hi Michael, I'm loop- looping you in with someone at Boston Dynamics at quick concept, but as you haven't shared very many details about the video I haven't been able to confirm an interview. Reply, reply.
Oh, no.
Oh my god. Oh, poor Michael. He started the email, too. He really wanted this to happen.
>> Again, at this point I just want to drive to their headquarters in person and give them a piece of my mind.
Did you know Boston Dynamics is in Boston?
I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to drive from Los Angeles to Boston. I definitely underestimated the amount of time Oh, hey, it's the school I like, too.
Lily, look, it's my old college dorm.
Good times, man. [music] Good times at this college.
Good stuff. Man, it [ __ ] sucked. I hated it here. Anyway, I completely underestimated what 45 [music] hours of driving feels like. My legs are like 90% blood clots. I just couldn't think of a way to end the video and I went "Herder Boston Dynamics are funny." I don't know. Been wanting to get out of [music] the house and severely overcompensated.
Haven't made a video in a while and I I kind of miss it. So, I'm looking forward to making more. Ideally without the 6-month break in between. But, no guarantees.
>> He says that every single time. Every single time. He's like, "Hopefully it doesn't take me another 8 months to make a new video."
>> The new Minecraft update looks pretty sick and so that I might be busy with that for a bit. And hey, after 8 days, a couple popped tires, and 2,988 dollars later, I can finally [music] do what I came here to do.
>> god.
>> Ha! Get pissed on.
>> You know what movie scene describes this perfectly? Boston Dynamics [music] sees what Michael Reeves have done to their dog and they go, "Look at what you've done to my boy."
>> [laughter] >> All right, let's try that.
>> Hey Victor?
>> Yeah.
Yeah. Just got two flat tires in Columbus, Ohio. [ __ ] you, Columbus, Ohio for that one. We're on the off ramp.
Kind of dangerous, honestly. That guy is totally flat. That guy also totally flat. You know what's not totally flat?
It's how much you can be saving with Honey because >> Ooh, let's not go there. Another great video, Michael. Every time I watch a Michael Reeves video, [music] I feel like a part of my brain gains some new knowledge, but then another part of my brain just loses some of my existing [music] knowledge. But, this was super fun. If you have any recommendations for a future reaction, please leave that down below. If you like this video, please don't forget to give it a thumbs up. And thanks to all my patrons on Patreon. I'll see you in the next one.
Bye.
