All creatures are linked by unseen bonds to form a universal family, and the suffering of creation reflects our own pain; when nature suffers, humanity is wounded too, so we must extend our love and respect beyond people to all of creation by staying close to the land, touching the soil, and recognizing that nothing exists alone.

Semana «Laudato Si’» 2026 - Día 2, 18 de mayo: la interconexión de la creaciónAdded:
[music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Within our cultures, we greet one another using words and gestures.
These words and actions of welcome spoken across cultures are far more than polite formalities.
They carry within them respect, love, blessing, and a deep desire for connection.
When we greet one another, we affirm relationship.
We acknowledge that we belong to one another.
Our cultural greetings remind us that communion is at the heart of being human.
As stated in Laudato Si, we are linked by unseen bonds and form a kind of universal family.
Yet today, we are invited to move even deeper.
Can we extend this same spirit of love, respect, and blessing [music] beyond one another to all of creation?
Francis of Assisi showed us a way of seeing the world not as something to dominate, but as family.
Brother sun, sister moon, Pope Francis echoed this vision in Laudato Si, inviting us to rediscover a loving awareness that we are not disconnected from the rest of creatures, but joined in splendid universal communion.
All creatures are linked by unseen bonds to form a universal family reflecting the mystery of the Trinity.
Such awareness, however, does not grow automatically.
It begins when we slow down.
When we allow ourselves to be silent and to listen.
If we listen attentively, we may hear something disturbing.
The groaning of a wounded earth.
Forests stripped bare.
Oceans polluted.
Lands eroded by rising sea levels.
And land scarred by violence and exploitation. [music] The suffering of creation mirrors our own restlessness and pain.
When nature suffers, humanity is wounded, too.
We lose touch with who we are as creatures, deeply connected and dependent.
So, what might conversion look like today?
Saint Marcellin Champagnat offered a simple, yet profound wisdom.
Stay close to the land.
Turned turned a garden.
Touch the soil.
When our hands enter the earth, when we watch seeds slowly break open into life, we witness the quiet mystery of growth and interdependence.
Nothing [music] exists alone.
Everything belongs.
Perhaps this is where compassion for the earth is born.
Not in grand gestures, but in attentive presence.
To be present to creation is also to be present to God.
It is a gift we can offer, not only to people, but to all that God [music] has made.
As brother Francis once was stated, God in everything.
God everywhere.
God alone.
We learn to see God everywhere, in one another, in the soil beneath our feet, and in the fragile beauty of our common home.
And may our lives become a gentle greeting of love and respect [music] to all creation.
