TB TEST DIDN’T GO TO PLANAdded:
Son of a crush just broke there, so I'm going to take it out and then go and buy a new one. Lovely. Finished.
>> Yeah. Done. Job done.
>> I wish.
>> Well done.
>> The blue and white are both inconclusive reactors.
>> Uh I forget what I'm doing there, though.
>> I don't know.
>> What am I doing there?
Hello.
>> It's freezing. It's boiling yesterday and freezing today. What are we doing today?
>> You farmers, all you ever do is moan about the weather.
>> Yeah. So, we're TB testing today.
>> Okay. Right.
>> First part of TB testing. So, vet will come jabs.
>> So, for someone who doesn't know what TB is at all.
>> We're finding out where there are cats who have tuberculosis. Uh, generally, it's a bit of a hot topic, but badges can be an issue with that. I was going to say so people people who have heard about TB would have heard about it. You know farmers mention it a lot. Um everyone who has cows has to be tested for TB, don't they?
>> Correct. Yeah.
>> Whether you've got one cow or whether you've got 100 cows.
>> So we're on a yearly here. So hopefully >> So they get tested once a year.
>> And here's my father.
>> Hello.
>> How are we?
>> So we'll put these cows in there and then we'll put a crush out.
>> Are you going to Are you going to move them and then tell us a bit more about TV? because you did that very briefly.
>> Yeah. Maybe the vet can tell us about the TV if he or she is feeling keen.
>> Okay. Well, I'm just going to film you because then you might be able to speed up.
God, come on.
>> You let it pass.
>> You let it pass.
>> Go on.
Good.
>> Lovely. Finished.
>> Yeah. Done. Job done.
>> Well done. In coffee and cake. So, first of all, I guess what's your name? What's your role? What do you do?
>> Uh, my name is Sophie and I'm a AT. Um, so which is a TV tester.
>> Okay. um which it's an authorized tuberculosis technology now aren't we?
>> Um so I go out four days a week two days jabbing and two days reading.
>> Okay.
>> Um and then so you are jabbing aven tuberculin and bovine tuberculin.
>> So like briefly explain what those two things.
>> So Aven is like from the birds. So that goes you jab that on the top and then on the bottom is boine. So >> your boine animals like your cattle and stuff like that.
>> Um and then when you're they only get a tiny tiny little amount of it. Um it's the same for any size animal that gets TB tested.
>> Oh, interesting. So whether you have a 600 kilo bulock or you have a 30 kilo calf, they get the same amount of >> tuberculine put into them.
>> Um, and then you wait 72 hours and go back and read it. And if they have no lumps, >> life's all good.
>> Great.
>> Um, if they have a top lump, it's fine.
That's just they've got a bit of aven and that's absolutely fine.
>> If they've got a bottom lump, they've got boine, but if the top lump is bigger, then it's fine. If they're the same size, it's fine. It's only when the bottom one is bigger that there is a problem.
>> Um whether that becomes an inconclusive reactor or a reactor.
>> Um we have a chart that we use um >> which we'll maybe we can show you in a minute. Yeah, that' be cool. Um, we have a chart that we use to go to work out if we're not 100% sure.
>> Yeah.
>> Um, but yeah.
>> Okay. So, if I'm understanding this, what what you jab them with, it's how their bodies react to that and it creates lesions. Is it?
>> Uh, it can do. Yeah. So, it will it will create like a >> depending on what reaction they have.
So, there's two different types. There's a >> um circumscribed lump which is like a hard lump. Okay.
>> And then you have a lump which is called like some edema. So, >> it sort of feels like play-doh. It's quite squishy.
>> Um, it's quite hard to measure because it sort of >> malleable, like movable.
>> It moves a lot and it sort of like spreads further. So, >> it's a bit harder to measure. Um, but you don't see those very often. Like most of the reactions that you'll see will be your circumscribed ones because they're hard and it's quite obvious.
>> You can show us all your lovely nails now and explain what the SH is. So the red is your reactors.
>> Okay.
>> Um blue is So the blue and white are both inconclusive reactors, but blue is so you have two different readings. You have a standard reading which is normal like you do every time and then you have severe reading which gets done if you're shut down or you're on a tracer allocation >> or anything like that. So, if it's a blue IR on day two and you're on severe, that instantly becomes a reactor.
>> Okay, fine.
>> Um, but on a standard, it's still an IR.
White is always IR, no matter. And green is where you want to be.
>> Okay, great. Fine. And so, what we're looking for is the difference between the numbers we read today and the numbers we see on Friday.
>> Yeah. So I'll be so if it was 77 and then you'd go along the bottom for how much your top lumps your aven has increased and then you come up for how much your bine has increased.
>> Super awesome. Thank you very much.
>> No worries.
>> Our crush just broke there so I'm going to take it out and then go and buy a new one.
>> Easy as that. Hey.
>> Yeah. But that was okay.
>> Yeah.
>> Got kicked or >> No. No. Everyone did quite well.
>> Yeah. Right.
Okay.
Unfortunately, the floor has given out and our crush.
>> I mean, every cloud, the cloud being it happened on the last one.
>> Yeah.
>> So, >> it's it didn't slow things down.
>> Wait for the lovely vet.
>> Bye, lovely vet tech.
>> She was nice.
>> She was nice.
>> Uh, what was her name? Sophie.
>> Sophie. Has this been going for a while or?
>> Not really. No, it's just gone.
>> And does this happen? Is this quite common on crushes?
>> Well, it's wooden in it, so Yeah.
>> Is it easy enough to replace or will it be Surely not a whole new crush just for a floor? Surely you'll be able to replace that?
>> Yeah, I'll be able to replace it.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. Another job for the list.
>> Yeah. So, that's part one. Part two will be >> Friday.
>> Friday. And that'll probably be out Saturday. This will be out Wednesday.
And then the video will be out Saturday.
>> Yeah.
>> So, okay. The lovely vat did say how friendly your cows were.
>> Yeah, >> they were overly friendly.
>> Almost too friendly really to the extent where they're annoying. Yeah.
>> Yeah. So, yeah. Did she explain to you a bit about >> Oh, yeah. Yeah.
>> Okay. Right. So, we shall see you guys on Friday for reading, but actually Saturday >> today. The maze is growing.
>> Is it doing well?
>> No, it's dry. Needs some needs some rain, really.
>> Well, I mean, I feel like we got some coming, right?
>> Yeah.
>> How many heads have we got to do?
I forget what I'm doing then.
>> I don't know what am I doing.
