Western Culture needs a Unifying Story.

[00:00:00]In a true culture, they've got an overarching story where they're they know their place in the cosmos. For example, when I stayed in the rainforest, the people, the tri tribal people, they're new with their their story. It was coherent story that that fitted them into the cosmos. All their activities, everything that they did in their lives and across the stages of their lives fitted into this to this huge coherent story where they felt held. It's amazing. Really amazing. Um in our western culture we don't have that. We've just got fragments. Uh so you know it's all got very complicated.

[00:00:37]We we we all feel that complicated uh uh lives. Um and then we look at the fragments. You know economics is a fragment. It's a domain all to itself.

[00:00:47]Science is a domain all to itself. A fragment. Religion is a is a fragment.

[00:00:53]Um ecology is is a fragment. Politics is a fragment. So these are all fragments.

[00:00:58]They don't knit into a kind of a coherent story for us. They're all telling us, you know, they're different voices telling us different things that don't knit together. And we're just trying to make sense of the world. You know, we're trying to make sense that the world that I live in makes sense and then we find, you know, that it doesn't. Um and and and it can't because it's all it's so fragmented.
