India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on his official visit to Vietnam held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang in Hanoi. The two leaders reviewed the growing defense partnership and explored ways to deepen cooperation in maritime security, defense industry, training, and regional stability.
Both sides exchanged views on regional and global security developments, stressing peace, stability, and freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific.
The Defense Minister reaffirmed India's commitment to Vietnam's defense modernization under the enhanced comprehensive strategic partnership.
General Phan Van Giang appreciated India's continued support and highlighted the long-standing friendship between the two countries. The ministers virtually inaugurated a language lab at Vietnam's Air Force Officers College established with Indian assistance.
India's Defense Minister also announced the setting up of an artificial intelligence lab at the Telecommunications University in Nha Trang.
An MoU was exchanged between India's Military College of Telecommunications Engineering and Vietnam's Telecommunications University in artificial intelligence and quantum technology, marking another milestone in bilateral defense cooperation.
Later Defense Minister Rajnath Singh called on Vietnam's General Secretary and President To Lam, conveying greetings from India's leadership. Both leaders reaffirmed the strong India-Vietnam friendship rooted in shared civilizational links and strategic interests.
Earlier in the day, Rajnath Singh paid homage to Vietnam's founding father Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum on his 136th birth anniversary, recalling his vision and contribution to India-Vietnam friendship.
India and Vietnam continue to share a strong bond of trust, values, and close cooperation in defense, security, and regional stability, paving the way for a stronger partnership in the years ahead.
