This is a Ross classification, a modified Ross classification of congestive cardiac failure. It is available for pediatric usage. So, whenever a child comes to you with congestive cardiac failure, basically we need to know in what stage of disease the child is. So, this classification will be helpful for you. Basically, there are four classes in the modified Ross classification.
Class one, although the child is in CCF, there are no symptoms. The child has no limitations of any physical activity. In class two, on examination, child will have a mild tachypnea and the limitation will be in the form of sweating during feeds whenever there is exertion when the child is playing or any physical activity there can be dyspnea, but there is no growth failure. So, a mild limitation of physical activity is present.
