This analysis effectively captures the friction between Ravel’s rhythmic austerity and Zappa’s subversive orchestral wit. It elevates the reaction genre by focusing on the structural transformation of the piece rather than mere emotional response.

Frank Zappa - Bolero (REACTION) with my wife本站添加:
Hello, and welcome back. My name is Andrei. And I'm Dominika.
>> And we back again with another reaction to uh Frank Zappa with a Bolero. Bolero?
Bolero, something different because we know that originally the song was written by French a song. That piece was written uh by French composer Maurice Ravel in '28. '20 '1928. Yes, that's correct. And this is Zappa's uh I don't know, the interpretation of it.
I don't think it's going to be the same exactly. I think he's going to add something from himself to it.
>> Zappa style. Zappa style. Yeah, this one is in Barcelona in 1988.
>> That's correct. And Wayne, we have you to thank for uh this one. Thank you so so much for your support. And we hope you enjoy you continue enjoying our reaction to Zappa's songs. Ready? Yes.
Let's go.
>> [cheering] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Excuse me.
>> [music] >> Wow.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> Well, you know what? I do like it so much that the whole piece is built around the uh the horn section, isn't it? You know, even even if it's only one playing, the other ones is kind of right behind that that one and doing their bit. I do like it, but also like it very very much what's happening behind the horns with the rest of the instruments. It's kind of That's the Zappa twist cuz I uh to be honest with you, I don't know much about the Bolero, but I know the sound of it.
>> not expect probably Zappa to do it piece for piece. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, The Zappa for me is heard in behind that horns for how what is happening and what instrument. I do like the drums. I do like the I don't know they're using some bells and and some rings. I don't know how to even call it. I I very much enjoy listening to it.
That's um that's for sure. You know, then one thing I was I was wondering um how does it work because we know that he wasn't performing or or uh work only with one set of musicians throughout his career. And then I'm thinking how how this ideas come about of the of his songs and all the musical pieces come about. Was he seeking and writing them and imagining how he wants it to um the the song to look like and then he was searching for the musicians or he had musicians available and he was writing with them in mind. I don't know.
That's kind of It's a good question. I I don't know if it is, but that's what I was thinking. I said, "Okay, he's got all these sets of the the horn section is there and that this song is or this piece is definitely for that section written." But did what when he wasn't performing with them, who was filling that? Anyway, >> I don't know. Maybe he just performed with them only. That's it. You you do that part.
All right. No idea, you know.
>> Yeah, yeah, you might be right, you know. You know, it's really You know, you like Zappa.
You he knows to appreciate a good piece of music. And he take it and he kind of make it Zappa style. Yeah, yeah, you can feel the infusion of Zappa in here.
You're right, it's kind of built around the the the horns and all of that. I do like it. He's so naughty with that cigar in his mouth. He's kind of I'm in charge in here. You just But sounds so so beautiful, I would say. It does. You know, I feel everything he touch in a way. But this is such a different kind of piece, I would say.
>> It is. But we definitely with him. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
And everything sounds so so beautiful.
Sorry? I said everything sounds so so beautiful.
>> It does in here, 100%.
>> Yeah, go back. You You did? Yes.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Wow.
>> [music] >> I like it.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [screaming] [cheering] [cheering] [cheering] >> I want to say that towards the end it sounded like you know when you sit with a group of people or group of friends and you starting with the I just relax you start with the one beer and then the second beer and but you meant to do something and it it's kind of towards the end it's a little you still doing it but it sounds a little bit or it looks a little bit messy. I had a I had a different kind of view of it. I'm just being honest.
Some drunk pirates on the on the >> [laughter] >> with the parrot on his head you know what I mean? The parrot That's the vibe of it. You know definitely I enjoyed definitely I like the original the most. You get that essence of it the all the song. I really cool kind of put a rock vibe on it in the the topic yeah that's for sure. But I I did enjoy it towards the end and everybody kind of were I I'm sure it was intentional but it gave me that's okay it's getting a little bit messy. It's like the one is dancing and supposed to be playing. Sometimes you don't know he's giving you the vibe is they making fun or they have fun only. Oh they yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.
But I will say oh my god there are some pirates on our ship like when the sea is calm and the rum is And we find the island let's go.
>> [laughter] >> Take the treasure I don't know it's just kind of I'm with you on this one.
>> So yeah when you say that I say oh party but I see it a little differently.
>> [laughter] >> I go with you.
>> And Zappa is the aye aye captain. Aye aye yeah he was.
Oh my god it was really really cool. It was quite quite interesting but most of all I had a I had so much fun listening to it right.
All right. Hope you enjoyed the reaction and see you again next time. Have a lovely day and all the best.
>> so much for watching. Bye for now.
