Deadly Snake UNDER His Pillow

[00:00:02]Welcome back to another video, guys. We haven't even got home from the last video. That little puff adder out at the horse stables, and I've just got a panic call from a house in Fresnaye here on the Atlantic Seaboard.

[00:00:15]A guy went down to his pool. He went to go sit on one of his outdoor loungers, and he heard a noise, looked there, and there was a puff adder under the cushion. So, we're heading over there straight away. [00:00:39]Oh, there's so many snakes here in the avenues. There's many, many, many.

[00:00:46]Just cuz of you see it so close to the mountain.

[00:00:49]So, the snakes Yeah, just cuz it's been so cold recently. Um and now the sun is out, so then hi.

[00:01:03]Uh where is it down that side? How do we Is this the gate? Okay.

[00:01:13]Let's hope he's Okay, there's quite a few bushes there.

[00:01:26]Okay, so he could have gone there. He could have gone Okay.

[00:01:36]Uh let me just set this up. So, in case he's there, I just want to set the tube.

[00:01:40]Cuz he's going to go into this tube.

[00:01:42]I just want to make sure it's in the shade.

[00:01:46]They are very quick. I just want to move some for some space.

[00:01:53]You know, I just I just want to clear the area.

[00:01:56]Oh, no, it's here.

[00:01:58]It's It's sitting very, very still.

[00:02:10]Yeah, cuz I'm taking videos, so you guys can take So, he's just sitting under the shade.

[00:02:20]So, when we pull it up, he will But, it's Okay, it's just a very little one. Very, very small one.

[00:02:28]It's a nice little puff adder.

[00:02:31]Um The way the snake is sitting, just a little bit of the body was in the sun, and the rest is in the shade. So, what happens that when the snake gets too warm, he moves the warm part into the shade and puts the cold part of his body into the sun. So, he'll just do that until he gets warm enough.

[00:02:48]>> [laughter] >> Because you know snakes, when the temperature is cool, it's very difficult for them to move. You know what I mean?

[00:02:55]They need They need the the heat.

[00:03:00]So, luckily I brought the small equipment, so it's easy to deal with.

[00:03:04]It's It's actually They're actually beautiful It's fine. You guys are completely safe.

[00:03:09]They're They're beautiful snakes. Just not when you're going to relax next to the cushion. It's not uh it's not so beautiful then.

[00:03:16]Um you can see how it it uses its scales on the belly.

[00:03:21]Unlike a normal snake, you know, normal snakes move like this.

[00:03:32]She's She's seen now. She just wants to go into the sun.

[00:03:37]Oh, wait, something happened to it your phone?

[00:03:40]It's okay.

[00:03:43]Oh, no, I think someone is trying to call you, so I didn't get a video.

[00:03:46]But, um I've got I've got a little video I can send to you.

[00:03:50]But, see now, I just want it to go inside the tube here.

[00:03:53]So, we're just going to be very delicate. I want to make sure it doesn't go underneath, cuz he's trying to go He's just trying to go under the deck.

[00:04:09]Let's be very gentle. And you see what he does, when he sees the entrance for the pipe, it's like a nice black hole from somewhere for him to escape. That's why he wants to jump in there quickly.

[00:04:20]But, what I do now that he's safe and secured, I'll just take him back to the mountains, but like far, maybe a couple hundred meters away from the houses, so he's back like, you know, in the bushy part of the mountain. Cuz if you put him just under these trees, he's just going to come back. So, um I'll take him up to the mountains, so he'll be safe. So, no won't see any people, he'll be away from the cars. Because in these areas, a lot of them when they move onto the roads, they get run over by the cars. So, you see a lot of them get squashed. So, I want to make sure the people are safe, and I want to make sure the snake is also safe.

[00:04:51]And then we'll and then we'll take him back.

[00:04:54]Well, guys, that was a simple catch. Um these people are super nice, really patient. It would have taken me about 45 minutes to get there. The traffic was just insane coming from the southern suburbs back to the Atlantic Seaboard, where I live, and as well as where the snake was caught. So, let's open up the tube. We'll pop this puff adder. It looks like a really stunning individual.

[00:05:15]So, I know you guys always like a couple of close-ups.

[00:05:25]So, let's get a nice close-up view of this puff adder. It's an absolutely phenomenal looking specimen, getting its real adult colors.

[00:05:33]Nice and high contrasting yellows and blacks. Um again, we say it's a male puff adder.

[00:05:39]We've got that really long, slender tail, which uh regular viewers to the channel also will know I always say this is indicative of a male puff adder.

[00:05:50]So, I'll just give you close-up look of the hot end or the danger end. Typical triangular shaped adder head. Uh no mistaking that.

[00:06:00]Beautiful looking animals.

[00:06:02]But, I just want to pop this animal into the bushes a little bit.

[00:06:07]Right up here on the base of the Table Mountain National Park. There's a couple of paragliders up there. So, have a look at that. But, guys, let's nudge this beautiful puff adder off into the bushes.

[00:06:19]He can then go about his day. He won't encounter anyone else who's trying to sit by the pool and have a little bit of a sun bathe.
