I Replaced Claude With This FREE AI Coding Model!Added:
Welcome to channel everyone. My name is Kumar and today I'll be talking about uh I believe one of the most important topic for techies.
Uh we all are trying to do a coding. We all are trying to use maybe a Claude, Codex, or maybe any other model. So, which can help us in terms of doing a agentic coding. And uh yeah, so things are getting expensive day by day.
Uh when we try to use uh some of these model and we can try to fix our problems, fix fix our bugs, or we try to build a features.
And uh yeah, so we all are losing a lots of dollar over here. Now, I have a plan for you. I have a idea for you. So, what if if we can save some of these dollar?
What if if we can try to use some free model which is available out there?
Which is as good as Claude model, which is going to help you out in terms of doing a coding or you know, understanding things, running things in a agentic mode, reading writing a files, controlling your entire CLI, maybe interacting with your Git GitHub, all of these things, right? So, this is what I'm going to discuss and uh in a very very simplistic way, I'm going to show you that how you all will be able to do a setup. So, not just a configuration, but an end-to-end setup I'm going to show you to you. So, let me share my screen and let's start. This is going to be an amazing one and a very very quick one, by the way.
So, basically what you have to do uh let me open up. Yeah.
So, what you have to do? So, you have to go to uh Google and try to search for Open Code. Yeah? And uh here, so you will be able to find out Open Code, the open-source AI coding agent. Now, here you can go and you can try to basically do a configuration. So, we have our docs over here, right? We have our docs over here and here, so you can go and they have given you already an instruction by which you all will be able to do installation. I'm going to show you a very, very simple step by which you all will be able to do installation in no time. So, if you have a Mac, that's completely fine. You can use these commands, and then you will be able to do installation. Let's say I have a window, right? So, in case of Windows machine, what I will do, first of all, I will try to go and download Node.js. And uh yes, so after downloading it, so I'll click, click, click, and install. So, first Node.js must be installed. Then, what you have to do? So, then try to open up a VS Code, or maybe you can try to open up your terminal. So, without VS Code or something, but yeah, I'm assuming that uh as a techie, as a developer, you must be having a VS Code inside your system.
So, here, you can go and uh let's say I'm creating a folder open code code demo. I'll show you a benchmark as well, so don't worry, just sit tight. So, open code test. Let's say this is something which I have created. A simple folder, right? So, what you have to do?
So, inside this, just try to, you know, uh open up uh this one, and then I'm giving you a command. So, this is basically a command, and I have what I'm going to attach this command and even this Node.js installation link inside a description. So, only two uh steps, right? Only two uh steps. So, here you can come, and then you can just paste this command. In my system, it's already installed, so it is not going to install it, by the way. But yeah, in your system, so it will start installing it.
Simple and done. So, once this open code is installed, what you can do, you can try to open up open code. Yeah? You can try to open up open code. And uh this is the open code. Now, I can start building whatsoever I want in a agentic mode. But before I get into a build let's start building it, yeah? So, first of all, what you can do, you can try to do a sign up. So, for sign-up {slash} connect and then you can try to use open code gen provider, which is a recommended one. You can try to bring your own API key as well. As you can see, they're giving you everything, right? They're giving you all the connectors over here, but yeah. So, it's better to use a open code so that you will be able to use a free model provided by open code, which is as good as cloud model. So, I'm going to show you a benchmark as well so that, you know, you will be able to realize it. Okay, fine. So, open code and this is basically a provider. Now, here they're going to give you basically like, you know, this particular link.
So, you can try to copy this link and then you can try to open up this link inside your browser so that you can log in, right? So, get it started with gen, right? So, click on login. So, maybe I will be using my Google login. So, I've already logged in over here. Now, once you will go here, you don't have to add a card, although they have like a paid like, you know, as well. But yeah, you don't have to add the card as of now.
Don't do anything. So, just go to a API key and try to create a API key. Create API key. API key name. So, let's say Sudhanshu is a API key name I'm trying to give. Now, click on create. So, in no time it is going to create an API key for you.
Yeah, so it has created, let's suppose, API key. And what I will do, I'll just go to a VS code, yeah? I'll just go to a VS code and then paste this API key.
Enter.
Very, very simple, right?
So, enter.
Now, so once I have already entered, right? Once I have already entered, so here what we can do, so we can go and we can try to select a model. So, {slash} m o d l models. Now, here so they are giving you a free model. So, see, this ring 2.6 is free, minimax m 2.5 is free.
I'll go ahead with this minimax m 2.5.
I'll tell you the reason because I was again and again talking about a cloud model, right? So, I'll be giving you a reason. So, minimax m 2.5. Let's hit enter and then model is selected. Now, I can ask this one to, you know, create uh or do some sort of a task for me. So, I'll I'll do one thing. Uh so, I'll ask them to create a like, you know, do some sort of a task and then in between, so I'll show you the benchmarking so that we can save some sort of a time. So, here I'll just ask the system to agent uh to, you know, uh build a build a portfolio website. Keep it simple with HTML, CSS, Java script. Make it uh responsive.
Yeah. Simple. Uh and keep it modern. Let's say I have I've just given very simple prompt, right? And uh yeah, so let's see how it will start like building it. And uh you have everything over here. Everything that you will be able to find inside the cloud, so everything you have over here. And uh just the way you can try to call the repository, you will be able to drag with the repository. So, everything even like provide this open code is providing. Okay.
Now, do one thing. So, let's go and let's try to check the comparison. Yeah?
So, open code versus uh sorry.
Uh MiniMax M 2.
5 versus let's say Opus. Yeah? Opus Claude, basically. So, let's do a comparison.
And uh you will be literally like uh you know, amazed. So, let me go through some of the article uh where benchmark has been mentioned.
Yeah?
So, here Claude Opus, even here you can see the comparison. So, sweet benchmark 80% and then this was 80.8 and then uh BFCL tool calling, so 76.8% 63%. So, in some of the cases, MiniMax is good, right? It's very very cheap by the way, right? It's very very cheap.
So, 60X price difference you will be able to find out, which is a huge one.
And as of now, Open Code is giving you just for free by the way, right? But yeah, even in a paid version, so it's it's very very basically cheap. Yeah, it's very very cheap. Uh so, here like almost you will be able to find out that output price is 1.2 per million token, and here it's a $25 per million token, which is very high. Which is literally very high. And benchmark wise, so both are almost closer, or in some of the matter Opus is better, some of the matter like uh you know, Minimax is better. 2.5 is better. Now, here if you'll come, so this red one that you are able to see, so basically this is representing our Minimax, and this this AI is representing Anthropic basically, Anthropic AI, let's say.
So, Sweep Bench verified, so here it's 80 80.9 80.8, so almost close or like you can say same. Uh Sweep Bench Pro, so here 55.4 56.9 55.4, so almost close.
Multi Sweep Bench means 51. So, here it's it's giving you a coding benchmark, and it looks like that it's very very close, right? It's very very close. So, if I'm able to get a model, so which is 60X less costlier, part number one, part number two, right? Part number two.
Benchmark wise, even if it is closer to an Opus or whatsoever best model which is available, even if it is like little bit less, I I'm I'm okay, right? I'm okay. And for now, it's free, right? For now, it's basically free with Open Code.
So, maybe like uh they are training that model, so they have kept it free as of now. So yeah, it's it's free.
You all can go You all can try to use it. Even in Open Code, you can bring your own API key, and then you will be able to use it. That's a beauty, right?
That's a beauty which I'm trying to show you. So, as of now, there is no bottleneck, nothing can stop you in terms of basically, you know, uh using an AI in a agentic mode, and uh you know, doing a coding. And as you can see, so yes, it is like, you know, uh uh it has done that, right? It has done the job. Maybe I can like open up this HTML uh and then I can go and check so what it is uh what has been done, what has been like basically like a built, or what kind of a code it has technically produced. So, my name, yes, my portfolio website, it is able to build it, right?
A simple sweet portfolio website, it is able to build it. I can use the same for like any kind of a coding I want. So, like just this was a quick quick demo, right? Quick demo, and I'm able to build it. So, just go ahead, try this out, and then let me know about your feedback. Uh many many of my students was asking about uh free uh best option which is available in the market, and I believe this is one of the best option. Uh if you want me to discover more and more and more such kind of options which is available in the market, obviously, I'll keep on doing that for you. And what do you think about this uh like, you know, uh minimax uh M2.5 and about open code?
So, please let me know inside a comment box what is your experience with this one? So, please feel free to share your experience with the free mode of this one. So, are you able to do some sort of a coding? Uh it is is it helping you out in terms of, you know, uh understand the code, generate the documentation, or complete a task in a agentic mode? So, just let me know about that. With that, thank you so much, everyone. Take care.
See you again in my next video.
