Trade Site Reveals Lost HistoryAdded:
See that?
Look at there. That's a rim something.
Hi everyone and welcome in to digging deep detecting. Well, I'm excited. Um I'm going out to a new permission today.
well over 100 acres of land in a in a great location where there definitely should be some per might take me a little while to find it or get on uh the site, but uh it's got to be here. Uh so I'm excited. I'm going to get out there, get swinging. I'll bring you guys in soon with the first dig.
I got a loud one here.
66.
Pretty solid 66.
Hope it's not a bullet casing.
I missed that.
I missed it.
right here.
I feel something.
What do we got here? Huh? It's big piece of kettle scrap. Okay. All right. Yeah, that's the right stuff. Little piece of 1700's copper kettle. That's definitely the right stuff. That's a good sign.
Let's keep going.
Well, I had an absolutely terrible sound. Just a 14. I thought I was going to just be digging a a lead 22 round. Um but, you know, got to dig them. And uh I just pulled something crazy out of the hole. It's very brittle, but if you guys look right here, [snorts] this is a very, very delicate old ear wheel and it is just in very, very brittle shape. This is [snorts] probably pewtor uh and very old. You know, these old pewtor ones like this predate the silver. This is probably early 1700s.
Probably 17 15, 1730, somewhere in that range would be my guess.
A cool save. Amazing save.
Um, just can't believe when you get a really bad signal like that, uh, you don't think something like that's going to pop out of the hole. So, great save.
Let's keep going.
All right, got another really good one here.
50 52 kind of in there. Sorry.
Be very careful.
Coming right in the bottom of the hole.
I think I see that musk ball.
[snorts] Nice musk ball. Perfect. All right, musk ball. Let's keep going.
Ah, I did it again. Didn't get live. A scratchy 22 signal on the manticore. Um, wasn't expecting very much. Been digging some modern bullets and stuff. And then I just pulled something crazy awesome out of the hole. Check this out.
That is a copper arrow head.
That's awesome. Made from kettle scrap.
And that thing is just beautiful shape.
Hand said hand cut out of copper. I've been finding a lot of copper scrap, too, which I'll show you later. But that's just a beautiful kettle point right there. Great condition.
Nativeade, no doubt about it. Awesome save.
Let's keep going.
[snorts] Take a nice round here.
All right, here we go.
All right.
I think I missed it just a little.
Go far enough.
Sorry.
Let's see what we got now. Yep.
I moved it.
Oh, I see it. I see it right here.
It's a silver [snorts] silver hair bead.
Okay. Nice.
[snorts] Sorry that took so long. Oh, there's some handcarved etching on it, too.
Right at the top. So, this is a a silver armband that they've cut up and they've made into a hair bead. They would just, you know, put their hair through this um and it would hang and shine. And there's some carving at the top. It's hard to see in this camera, but there's definitely some hand carving on it. Let me see if I can show you that a little better. See that up top? Almost what looks like a beaver tail right there carved into it. So, great save. Nice piece of fur trade silver. Let's keep going.
All right, we got a good one here.
All right, here we go.
Right in the bottom.
right there.
Silver brooch. All right, this one's missing the tongue, but good find.
Let's keep going.
All right, we got another good sound here.
Pretty loud, though.
A little worried about how loud this is.
Oh, thimble.
Nice. 1700 symbol right there.
Great save. They always put a little hole in the top.
I don't know if that was for carrying or why they did that, but that one's in great shape. I'm not even going to take the dirt out of it right now so it doesn't get crushed or anything in my box, but um 1700's thimble.
It's nice brass thimble.
Great save.
All right, right there was that thimble.
Another sound right here.
Yeah. Oh, look right there. Another one.
Another thimble. Oh, this one doesn't have the hole, but um another 1700 symbol thimble.
Great save. Good condition on this one, too.
These were, you know, heavily traded to the natives um for furs and food. So, great save.
All right, I'm on a little bit of a slope and had a soft 45. It was kind of jumping. Thought it was going to be nothing. and thought it was going to be like a modern bullet or something like that, but I just flipped the hole and I actually see something right here with a kind of round shape.
And I think I Yeah, this is definitely the backside of a uh cloth seal.
It's got some writing on it.
Oh yeah, transport office. Oh yeah, I found um these before. They even had like a little bit of a gold guilt to them. You can see it up top.
So this is after the Stamp Act uh which really started the revolution um in America. like this is all about taxation uh to the colonies and this would have been a t a tax stamp that was put on goods coming to the colonies. Um so like I said the other side would have had a a seal uh usually the the crest or the seal of uh of England and uh but maybe we'll still find that. But that's a great find.
That's the backside right there.
in an amazing condition. Fantastic.
Great save.
So, that'd be, you know, 1760s, 1770s, somewhere in that range.
Um, great save though.
Well, let's check this sound out.
>> [snorts] >> Hope it's not a rifle shell.
all down There way down there.
Well, I don't know if that's good or bad.
It's right here in this clump.
Maybe something right here.
Oh, nice. [snorts] Yeah, nice big blowhole button.
All right. Shank's still there. [snorts] Sweet.
That's the stuff right there.
Early 1700's blowhole button.
Uh, I'll clean it up a little more later, but nice. Still got a nice little silver patina, but um, very cool. Very early 1700s.
Great save.
All right.
Got a nice sound here.
Dead center.
Root.
hole sidewall underneath the root.
See if I can get a different angle.
That's still in there.
Got it out.
somewhere right here.
This thing.
Yeah, I think Oh, yeah. It's a broken ring.
Yep, it's a broken ring.
Yep, there it is. You can see like that's one side of the ring tab right there. The other and would have gone all the way up and around. I think it's pewtor.
So, this is either you know native made or uh made and uh traded. But um sometimes they'll have some stuff carved into the face. Maybe later when I get a chance, I'll clean that up and I'll put a picture. See if we see uh anything on the face. But yeah, that's a Peter ring. Definitely 1700s.
No doubt about it. For a trade.
Let's keep going.
Well, sorry I didn't get this one live.
I've been digging, you know, a lot of modern bullets and stuff and this one ranging just like the last bullet. But um you see it. Nice brooch.
It's great sign. [snorts] Had a couple more of these I, you know, didn't catch live. Didn't put on the video, but I'll show them in the wrap-up. That's a nice big one. So, good save.
Silver brooch.
1700s for a trade right there.
Okay. Right there was a little musket ball and then the uh silver brooch. And then I got a cricket sound right here.
up as high as 46 pretty down the center.
got a little in there. Sorry.
All right.
Unplug.
Oh, right there. Look, another little silver brooch.
Great save.
Little one, but it's intact.
Perfect. Nice. All right, let's keep going.
Well, I got a big iron target here. I just cleared off the leaves. Um, you can see it's sticking out of the ground right there. So, we're about to find out what that is.
Oh, big 1700.
Awesome. That's a great save. Hoping it would be an axe, but we will. I'm not going to complain about that.
1700s all day. Great save. Let's keep going.
I got a really screaming sound here.
46 right on the center line.
Hoping this is not a bullet.
All right, here we go.
Right here.
Oh, wait. I think I see something right there.
You see that?
Look at there. rim something.
Oh, it is a ring.
Oh, it's a seven stone trade ring.
Awesome.
Seven stone. All right.
Very careful here. I see a few stones in there.
[sighs and gasps] Might be missing one there. Look at that green stone in the middle and then blue on the side.
That's really neat.
Sorry. Check that out. Seven stone trade ring. Absolutely beautiful. I'm not going to clean this at all in the field.
It's just too delicate. Could lose the stones just by brushing them. So, don't really want to risk that. Um, but it is a absolute beautiful piece.
These are brass and they're just glass.
They're not real gems. You can see they're blue, but a green one in the center. Um, and uh anyway, these were mass- prodduced in Montreal uh and and brought in large quantities to trade with the natives for furs. So, this is just a great piece of history.
These are all the way back to the early 1700s through uh the mid to late 1700s.
So different varieties over the different periods, but um the natives really liked these like I said with brass that when shined up when they were new looked almost like gold and the gems, you know, stones, glass uh you know that mimicked gems made them look expensive or beautiful, worthy of of some good fur trades, I imagine. But uh great save. So thankful to have it. Piece of history right there.
Well, thanks everyone for tuning in this week. Had a lot of fun out there for sure. Uh, you know, this site's really large that I'm working in. I'm sure there's tons more to find, but uh unfortunately I got to get headed out, but uh I'll show you guys uh pictures of everything I found in the wrap-up here.
Uh but appreciate you all tuning in.
Hope you enjoyed the content. If so, hit that thumbs up, leave me a comment.
Always uh love connecting with you all.
So, good luck on your hunts. Hope to see you soon. Take care, everyone.
