Hawaii's weather is dominated by trade winds, which are steady breezes from the northeast that strengthen throughout the week, bringing normal night and morning windward and mauka showers while maintaining drier conditions on leeward areas; these winds create a 40% chance of rain primarily during nighttime and early morning hours, with temperatures in the mid-80s and breezy conditions expected through Sunday.

Hawaii's weather will be dominated by breezy trade windsAdded:
We begin with a look at the Na Wahine run a 5K and 1-miler that happens on Maui every Mother's Day. It's a fundraiser to benefit UH Maui College scholarship fund. Uh, congratulations to all of you who took part of this morning. Strengthening trades in the forecast along with a breezy week ahead.
We're going to have our normal night and morning windward and mauka showers. We did have a disturbance that has finally departed off to the west. We have some drier more stable conditions moving in.
We do have a couple of these high clouds streaming in from the west-southwest.
These are not rain makers. Strong high pressure off to the north still giving us some pretty good trade wind flow and that's going to get stronger as the week goes along. Our first alert future cast shows maybe a couple of showers windward and mauka mainly during the night time and early morning hours. There is a disturbance that's supposed to be setting up shop to the northeast of us and it might enhance some of the incoming showers especially as we head into the latter part of the week. Uh, Tuesday looking pretty good. You can also see those increasing trade winds.
Looks like some of those increasing showers particularly for Maui and the island of Hawaii as we head into Tuesday. Before your Monday looking pretty good. Partly cloudy with scattered showers windward and mauka and locally breezy on Kauai. So still a little bit wet for windward areas. On Oahu sunshine with isolated showers.
Locally breezy trades from the northeast at 20 mph. On the islands of Maui County it should be mostly sunny and breezy.
Lanai City you're going to be warming up to 79° [snorts] 82 in Paia Hana at 78 with winds 15 to 25 mph. Some areas could see gusts up to 35 mph. On the other hand light winds for west of Hawaii with partly cloudy skies. 86 the forecast high for Waikoloa. Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and breezier than normal for east of Hawaii. Kilauea at 81 we could see 15 to 25 mph winds with gusts up to 35 mph. And north of Hawaii you'll be partly cloudy and locally windy. We're expecting winds 20 to 25 mph, gusts up to 35. Kona 65 in the morning, 78 in the afternoon.
Surf and shoreline forecast, it's going to be heading downward on the north shores at least in the morning 4 to 6, 3 to 5 in the afternoon. Rising trade winds swell for east shores at 3 to 5.
Also boost on south shores at 3 to 5 as well. But we also have the monthly box jellyfish influx underway. Tomorrow is the last day of the highest probability for south and some west shores and a lower probability on Tuesday. Should be all power Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So, first alert summary forecast, sunshine, but then we've also got those increasing trade winds. We're going to call it about a 40% chance of rain. Mostly the rainfall going to be during the nights and mornings for windward and mauka areas. More highly likely as we head into Thursday, but those trades will remain pretty breezy all the way up until Sunday when they'll back down just a little bit. The temperatures are also starting to head back upwards. Highs in the mid 80s and lows at night in the lower 70s.
