This video presents a critical review of Christopher Nolan's 2023 film adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey, highlighting major flaws including excessive runtime (3+ hours), poor sound mixing, forced political messaging, and poor casting choices. The reviewer rates the film 40/100, arguing that while some scenes (Trojan Horse, ship scenes) were visually impressive, the film suffers from unnecessary length, modern dialogue in ancient settings, and a focus on social commentary over storytelling. The reviewer recommends waiting for streaming rather than theatrical viewing.

The Odyssey Movie Spoiler Review - First Shots Live
Added:Heat. Heat. N.
Heat. Heat.
What is going on everybody? I'm not sure why I played that old school intro, but here we are. I mean, here we are. I just was like, well, we just had the midday mixer. We just had this. Yeah, I know, right? This is Saturday stream. Yo, what's up, Kings? I can Sparta's here.
Summer's like, oh, I can't wait to hear what Jay's saucy thoughts are on this.
Do you think I got saucy thoughts, Summer? Saucy thoughts. Um, I do realize that uh a little early. We usually do these at 7, but there's a lot of other stuff happening that we're going to get through. Uh, anyway, this is just going to be on the Odyssey. And I brought in a a new guy, my friend Nerd Slat there on the bottom.
Uh, he always does awesome intros for me and does all these cool thing. I'm like, you know, I saw his review and I'm like, let's just bring him on, you know.
>> Appreciate it. Yeah. I don't know how uh how happy Mo is that I'm here, but uh I think it'll be all right. Just >> Hi, new guy. Look at that. Already getting some love. That's getting some love. You know, >> Kings of I wanted to know, Mo, did you like the Discovery Center?
>> I've been there before actually. I saw The Dark Knight in that theater and oh boy. Yeah. So, I saw this movie in a dome I think I'm still recovering. I think I still have a headache. But uh yeah, it was nice. I love Discovery Center. It's great. All right. So, how like I saw you I saw the video. So, it's just like you're like in a recliner.
>> No, that's the worst part. They're uncomfortable seats. So, your butt falls asleep halfway through the movie, which well a normal movie. So, around an hour I'm like leaning. I'm doing this going back and forth. So, no, you are actually just kind of almost in driving mode where you're leaning back just a little bit. So, and then you got to go like this and you got to look up and it literally encompasses almost the entire dome. So, when things are happening, you have to shift your focus. You can't look at the entire screen at the same same time. It's impossible. So, >> I feel like my neck would hurt.
>> It was bad.
>> Like uh like watching >> I had a recliner. Like I was glad we had that at least, but >> n stationary.
>> How do we get that shirt?
>> Um Canal is in the chat. Shout out I Canalyst for hooking me up with the >> No.
>> Yeah. Oh, >> he's like, "Jay, I sent you something."
I was like, "Thank you."
And then I noticed I was drinking it today on another show and they're like, "You shouldn't do that. Don't put this anywhere near your mouth." Uh, I was like, "Or at least do it this way." I was like, "Okay, fair point. Fair point." Uh could you imagine if uh watch this in like a debox like theater where like the whole seats move and everything? Actually, I think I would enjoy that a lot more simply because listen, I'm not I'm you're not going to get like a deep breakdown from me when it comes to the Odyssey. I just was bored and I w my whole odyssey was trying to keep myself awake for three hours. And see, here's the other thing, too.
Before I went to watch the film, I was told like, "Oh, man. Get there on time."
Boom, boom, boom. No previews. It's going to go right into the film. Now, that is specifically for IMAX viewers.
Apparently, it's just IMAX viewers that don't get a lot of or hardly any previews. Uh, at least that's what I was told. So, I get there and I'm like I'm right on time and now it's like 35 minutes more of previews that I didn't care to see, but you know, here we are. Uh, but yeah, so that was that was my Odyssey. I was I was kind of bored of the whole thing.
>> Yeah. What what are y'all overall thoughts like before we get into like the the dough of whatever it is?
>> Oh, go ahead, Nerd Slap.
>> Well, uh along the same lines, I was bored. I stepped out probably three or four times during the movie just to walk around and wake myself back up. Um, it jumped a lot, which I didn't like the like I felt like they explained most of the story within the first hour and then it was just kind of a lot of jump cuts that they didn't know what to do with and it lost me. Visually at some parts it was great. It looked good. The the scene on Cersei's island, I liked that.
I thought it was kind of unnerving how they showed her doing that kind of stuff, but uh that was about it. Other than that, I was just I was bored. And I would not recommend going to see this.
If you really want to watch it, wait until it goes to streaming because it's a long movie. You're going to want to take breaks.
>> Yeah. And I think it's unnaturally long.
I think they extended it where the beats of the story didn't need to be that long. I thought uh and this is the the kind of movie I hate is where it's got promise. like you could tell there's there's something competent, but overall they just there's too many times where it takes you out of the movie and puts you into the real world like they keep mentioning things like on purpose.
>> Uh that Yeah. And like what about like I I didn't think it needed like foul language. The foul language of today didn't wasn't needed in the movie.
>> Well, just how they talk to each other.
It was very just like modern how they talk to each other, you know? It was kind of like if like me and Mo were in a Discord call talking to each other and like giving each other crap for stuff, you know, >> they would not be able to air that. That would never be able to be. But uh >> well, >> JC JC a little preview. But uh no, it's it's just a it's it's just Christopher Nolan is huffing his own product. Let's just put it that way.
Will be nice. But uh it just it just was very he he he knows that nobody's going to say no to him. Like like somebody said, it's like George Lucas in the prequels.
Nobody's saying no. And you can tell that nobody pushed back on any part of this movie. And it's >> Wasn't Patinson the only one that wanted to read the script first before saying yes? Pretty much like everyone was an immediate yes, but then he was the only one that wanted to read it >> regardless. Yeah, it was I don't know anything about that. Yeah, he was going to do it. Nolan's gonna do Nolan and nobody's gonna tell him no. He's the king of Hollywood right now. Yeah.
>> So, uh, I gave it, uh, on critically I gave it a 40 out of 100, which is basically like four out of 10. Excuse me. And also, I'm like a camel, man. I went in also like I'm going in with a giant sized icy knowing it's 3 hours and I'm like, I I'm I'm going to I'm going to test fate here. didn't have to get up once, but boy, when that end credit scene hit, it was like out the door right to the bathroom. The uh the one thing that I did appreciate, I I'll talk about the things that I did like. I appreciated that I actually was more involved about like um I was into the ending of the film more than some of the side missions that he was going through to try to get home. Uh so it it it's like I was kind of like, okay, where's this going? When when is dad going to show and this is spoilers, by the way. When is when's dad coming home?
When is he going to like clean house?
When is he going to get his wife back?
when is he gonna like take down? Like that was probably what I was waiting for. It was just the the buildup to get there was a tough pill to swallow. It was uh it was rough that first hour. I feel like if they cut out that first hour and just kind of tightened up some of the dialogue, I probably would love this movie a lot more. But since the first hour to me anyway was like walking through quicksand, man. like it just I it just was hard to get through that first hour and then they started getting into the adventure.
I think one of uh I love the scenes on the ship. Like I thought that was I thought that looked great. Uh whatever they were doing on the ship uh the the ship and everything looked good. But the Trojan horse scenes were my favorite. I I I loved that seeing all the men crammed into the horse and he was like, "Yeah, people were dying in that horse and like they were trying to keep him alive for a few days." I thought that stuff was was pretty cool. And then how they how they got out and opened up the gate for everyone to come in. So, uh it was uh so I I enjoyed that. I liked um some of the other like the Cyclops wasn't terrible, but it was some of it was kind of funny. I uh I hated the scene where the witch turned them into the pigs. I don't know why. I just was like I I could have done without that whole scene.
>> Um they could have just ended up on the island and she could have been like, "Hey, go drink some blood and bring the dead back, you know." Oh, shout out Wicked. I see her in the chat. And um the one the scene with the whirlpool I thought was pretty decent. There are a lot of great things in this movie that you could take apart and watch as a clip and as long as you didn't have the rest of the story to ruin it, it would be really cool. These make great Tik Tok YouTube clips, some of these scenes. The problem is the first five minutes of the movie to bring it back to the beginning are annoying as all hell. Uh, excuse my French. First, we start off with Travis Scott banging the stick, which after he did that, I wanted to take that stick. Anyways, um he it was very annoying. His his his city accent or he sounds like he's he sounds like a rapper. He's not trying to put any afflection on his voice.
>> Yeah, the first 15 minutes were brutal.
You had Travis Scott doing the poem and then you had Elliot Paige uh doing her thing, his that doing doing whatever Elliott is doing. So, >> yeah. And the problem is uh they say like well she's only in the movie for five minutes. Yeah. Unfortunately her and I said this before she's like a lingering fart. She just it's a little instance that happens at the beginning but you can just smell it for the rest of the three hours of the movie. Anytime we get away from her character we get brought right back into it. They mention her.
>> She was huge part she was a >> she was integral >> of the ending too.
>> Mhm. you know, when he sticks that whatever that was, that pencil or whatever in that man's mouth at the end.
Um, it was all like, yeah, the whole movie was a was kind of like he was right. He was getting revenge for Elliot Paige's character, >> which doesn't make any sense cuz he could give a turkey about the rest of his soldiers. Like, he's not doing that for anybody else.
>> Let me explain for the chat that didn't see. So, I'm just going to say Elliot Pa's character. I'm not going to go him her because I'm I I confused myself. So Elliot Paige's character was called what's the name?
>> Sinn or Sena. I It's spelled like Simon with an N instead of an M in the middle.
>> Yeah.
>> Is a madeup character for this movie.
>> Not in the book whatsoever. A lot of people saying that that character replaces the Achilles character.
>> Probably that is uh a madeup character.
And in this story, the Elliot Page character as a child, um, they were drawing, they go back to a flashback scene where they were drawing like straws to see who's going to serve in the military and who's not. And apparently one of the bad guys when he was a child like convinced Elliot Paige's child to like switch straws with him.
>> Mhm. So she can Oh my god. So the LA Page character can go out and into battle.
So when they when he realized that that happened, he's like, "Oh, I'm going to get revenge for this." So that was part of his I got to get back home, not only to see my son, not only to get back to my wife, but I need to seek revenge for bringing this character out on the battlefield to die.
Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yep. And >> and Elliot P like you said in the entire film in the beginning gets killed.
Um he speaks to the gods and one of the gods says pour out a sacrifice of blood and all the dead dead of his army showed up. So Elliot Page shows up again, drinks blood out of a shield. And he's like, "Oh, why did you let this happen to me?" Um and then he's like, "Oh, I'm going to seek revenge." And then at the very end he's like, "I got my revenge." And so it's all part of the story. So that was >> yeah kind of weird. Anyway, >> well the problem that I had and I'll let nurse lab talk. The problem I had with the action scenes that were actually kind of cool was the sound mixing was horrendous.
It was like some part listen I'm naturally deaf right because I'm old. But the uh there were scenes where it was like quiet and then it got so freaking loud you could see my whole theater go like this.
>> You know what I mean? Like >> just cover their ears cuz like the the the fight scenes were ridiculous.
>> So >> yeah.
>> Yeah. And I did appreciate some of the the visuals in the movie, you know, some of the fight scenes really cool, the on the ships, stuff like that. But again with like this the sound mixing was awful. There was times where it cut off parts of the dialogue and I couldn't understand what they were saying and it was hard to understand just a basic conversation and it it just kept kind of you know reminding you like oh hey this is definitely a Christopher Nolan film like what else is going to be changed? What else is going to be different? You know and I I think that they cut out too much of the story or at least some of the important details. So, like with the with the Cyclops, they cut out a lot of that part of the story. And people that don't that haven't read the book or have seen anything like the Odyssey, they're not going to know the full story with that. And there's a lot that's important with that part specifically. And you said that you didn't like the part with Cersei's Island where she's molding them into pigs. That was honestly like one of the only parts that I did like because it was so unnerving.
And but that's just my taste personally, but >> Oh, no. It's like a lot of people like that part. Even on Daily T like Jay, why did you not like I don't know. I just I just felt it was >> I can see why you don't like it. It was unnerving and weird. And they could have done without that scene, but it was just very hard to stay like focused on what was going on. And like the ending was decent. You know, I did enjoy the ending. So >> the the the problem with Cersei is is not the part not the witch when the not when they're walking up the walkway and they see all the animals which are like okay what's going on and then not when they're eating they're engorging themselves to a point that's disgusting but turning into it's the why do we care about Cersei we don't care but we get a diet tribe and this happens throughout the movie this feminist uh uh dre that just gets puked upon you the entire movie. Like this is the problem with the movie. It knows it can be good, but it chooses not to be to send a message. And it sends that message. It literally pulls the handbreak and says, "Hold on, we got to hear about Cersei's how she was done wrong." And how Odysius has to say, "I'm sorry we offended you." Like, really?
And this happens multiple times throughout the story. This this movie and people could say, "Oh, woke isn't a" It absolutely is a thing. And it and it is ever present in this movie. And when you start getting into it, they make sure it's almost like they saw it on the cutting room floor. They're like, "They're too into the movie. We need to bring them back into real life. We need to be like, "Hey, Aenon is blah blah blah. Cersei is blah blah blah." It's just like, uh, what about uh Penelope?
Uh, you know, I have to sit on an empty throne. It's just it it there's so much so much nashing of teeth by the females in this movie. It takes away whatever interesting part they could have played in the story and it turns them into com, you know, whiny people that wear those pink hats to protests. It's it and and but they it brings it back to you when when that when that happens and it does it throughout the story like the the we we sail from Ithaca to Sparta. But hell if I know they didn't say it because everybody looks exactly the same. It looks like you you're you're you're in a New York subway the entire movie.
>> Everybody there's black women and Asian men. It's like >> did you like this the scene where the Indian guy was like, "Hey, we're Greek."
Oh jeez.
>> Okay. So, dude, when he said that, I literally I was I watched this movie with Blaine and I looked over at him.
I'm like, and we both like rolled our eyes and shook our head. It was horrible. And that guy, by the way, take all of of of the current day references and and all of the wokeness that's in this movie, Patel, the Indian guy, cannot act and is even more apparent when he's at trying to act next to Matt Damon. He is a he he is he's an amateur at best compared to the rest of the people in this movie. You get people like uh uh Anne Hathaway and you know uh uh Tom Holland and Matt Damon and then Hamish Patel who has way too many lines in this movie is horrible. He delivers them horribly. The way he conducts himself and holds himself is horrible.
It's like watching a high school play with him when he's on screen. He's horrible. He's absolutely in this movie as a diversity hire because he cannot act and he if you just take all the rest of the stuff out of the movie he is he he is a he is a sore on the movie. He is really bad.
>> I thought uh John Bert uh >> Berth >> he just play himself in this film.
>> Yeah. No, he was playing his Shane character from The Walking Dead. That's exactly what he was doing.
>> He was just acting like Shane. John Bernthal is John Bernthal.
>> Yeah, >> he's like the rock.
>> I will say though, I'm glad that the dog at least got to see Odysius one last time before he the dog died. So, justice for the dog at least.
>> But the first hour you had, like you said, we had Travis Scott, we had Paige, and we also had John Leguamo like killing a dog.
>> Oh, dude. Throwing puppies.
>> Random.
>> Throwing puppies off cliff. Like what are we doing? He's reenacting the penguin level in Super Mario 64. He was just going just dropping him right off the end. It was I know. Like there was like no rhyme or reason for that. It was just Yeah, we don't want this puppy. Let me just chuck him over the edge for no apparent reason. Uh I can't list for 500 kicks on kicks. To be fair, that cup wasn't all I sent you. That was just I know, man. I'm going to show it all off soon. So I would have shown it off. Now, I don't know how y'all's theater were was, but mine was uh mine mine like was kind of laughing uh a little more than they probably should at certain scenes, especially like when the f-word was used, when Paige was on the screen.
>> Um maybe in some of the serious moments they thought, but it, you know, I don't know.
Well, there was a few times where like Matt Damon would get done talking and I it was me. I was doing the whole Matt Damon from Team America and people everyone just starts laughing and I'm like, "All right, so this we got a good theater. All right, cool." And everyone >> saying like mostly actors just play themselves and not the characters that were >> Yeah.
>> you know that we're given. That's the thing. So, what's up X-Wing?
>> What up? Thank you for having me.
Interesting.
>> The other day you might have forgot.
>> No, I remember. I thought it was a one though.
>> I don't know why. I thought it was a one.
>> It's okay.
>> But uh dude, the Odyssey, huh?
I actually uh I saw like when you and Beard was talking about it, I actually agreed with you that I was I went in like knowing that the side missions were probably might be what I was looking forward to the most.
But actually about hour two and a half.
I'm like, "All right, I want to know what happens at the very end." Like, >> yeah, >> that kind of like was the the only thing keeping me going in this film because like they didn't make the >> the side quests all that like they weren't all that super like All right, hold on. Like this scene right here was just so underwhelming.
It's like they just showed up and there was like a little kid screaming. Then all a sudden the giants just come out and and just and they just like, "All right, run back to the ship."
>> Yeah.
>> And this is where he watches like more than so in this scene they show they're going from island to island to find water and food to try to get home.
>> Now people from all the other armies ended up getting home quicker. like pretty easy too. Yeah.
>> Like I don't know why that was like everybody John Berthal like all of them made it home without a problem but except for you know the star of the show here. He decided to go like hey let's just let's just uh you know resort hop here. Let's go to island and see the world on our way home. They end up on this island and they're just walking around and all of a sudden this little kid screams and they chase him and then these giants, these things, they were dressed kind of funny. They didn't really say anything. They just showed up and just started killing everybody.
Here's where he lost like 70% of his crew.
>> Mhm.
>> Because they all get on the boats and his boat of course is the fastest and they're just peding away and the other boats just get wrecked by the giants and You know, this was my problem with the entire like that get that part like cuz there was a part where the guy ran up to the trees and they're only, you know, maybe a few inches thick. It's like just push them out of your way and run through. Like what are you doing? Like >> Yeah. When the when the woods created the prison, the wooden jail cell.
>> Yeah. With twist.
>> No, that was kind of cool. But the problem with every fight in the story in a fantasy that that occurs in a fantasy fashion, it's like you're playing Elden Ring, but you haven't powered up yet.
Like, it's like you it's like you go into something in like The Legend of Zelda, and you're just like, "Crap, I don't have this yet, and I got to now I got to back out until I get powered up."
Like, everything is like this 10-minute fight where it really doesn't really add too much to the story. Well, Nolan was Nolan was able to somehow make >> the Odyssey, which is the the journey, boring, >> and I kind of have to tip my hat to him cuz I'm like, you made me not care about the cool stuff and care about the boring stuff going into this. It was like I I get it. Lastians, you showed up, wasn't a great idea. Got back to the boat, you left. Okay, there's a whirlpool. What about Curt? Like, don't care what's going on with Anne Hathaway. That's what I want to know. How's it going with an back home? And uh unfortunately like the rest of the movie suffers for it. But dude, the last the third act of the film is is the only good part of the movie.
>> But man, to get there though, man, >> it's like you're walking in quicksand, bro.
>> Yeah.
>> You know what I like? Holy crap.
>> It's unnaturally drawn out. It's it's to make the movie that long. It's not that there's no exposition that makes any sense. There's nothing that you couldn't have said quickly or covered in a conversation.
>> The coolest part of the story boring.
>> Yeah.
>> How how do you do it?
>> Well, I'll be honest. I was kind of half expecting them to play that rap song that they made at the beginning of the movie and then go into it like I was like, "Please don't do it. Please."
>> Should we talk about the score for a minute? Because >> I left before the final credits even started. I'll be honest, as soon as it cut black, I left.
>> I am a This Lvig is the Tao Whiti of modern film scores.
>> Uh made like one cool one once and everyone's like, "This guy's just awesome." And now he's everywhere and it's like this stinks. This is terrible.
Where's John Williams when you need him, dude?
I wouldn't even at this point they should have just used AI and just say write us a nice cool I was your theater like aggressively loud at one point then aggressively quiet in the next where it's like that is burning my ears and then the next one is like I can't hear what they're saying.
>> Dude, the Cyclops scene when he gets stabbed in the eye is like cover.
>> That's what I'm saying. The whole my you just saw everybody do this. That's so that's classic Nolan. Like unfortunately that happens with a bunch of his movies.
Happened with Interstellar too. Like the sound mixing is so bad. Uh and it's played so loud in the theaters. I almost lost an eard drum.
>> So to go back to >> I hate it. It takes away from me.
>> Yeah.
>> Mhm. I go back to the score. The score doesn't work over the entire movie for the most part, but when there's like romantic or or or intense like personal scenes, you can have those plinking instruments and have it be like you're on the islands and in in you know in Greece and stuff like that. That works when you're in battle and you're like playing those same instruments. That that is off-putting. It's really weird to be like they're fighting and they're stabbing, you know, and then they're the bows and arrows and all you're hearing is plink.
It's just like it's so like it's so pompous and stupid that score. Like there's there's ways it could have worked. It should have been it should have been much better in the fight scenes. It should have >> classic.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was it was very annoying and it took you out of the movie.
So yeah, after the first hour, it sets the scene for his son and there's like 12 or 15 pe uh suitors that are trying to marry the queen because, you know, they think that Osidius is dead, right?
He died in Troy. He's not coming back.
>> It's been like eight Did I say his name right?
>> It's been like I can't pronounce these names. Uh it's been like eight years. So you got Tom Holland who's the son who's just wants to be, you know, he wants to be the guy. He wants to be the guy, the best swordsman and all that. He's not, you know, uh he gets pushed around. He's kind of a little crybaby, but not so much like he's got a lot of heart, but he uh he John Leguisamo, who I thought was the most annoying person, like worse than than Paige, I I thought he I couldn't stand his character. I was shocked at how much I liked Leguisamo's.
I hate John Leguisamo. I [ __ ] did a good job though.
>> I That's I didn't I felt like he did a He he delivered it. I didn't >> You guys sucked. He's the worst part of the entire film.
>> I wish that dog off the cliff to die. He just literally walked with it. Like that's what I wanted. So, and and it didn't happen. I was waiting and I was hoping that he would get killed in the film. I'm like eventually he's going to die. maybe, you know, someone's gonna and I'm like, then I finally found some some good stuff I could hold on to. But I did not like his character. Um maybe because I I went into the fact that his last speech was we need to fight for more representation and yet he's in a movie where he plays a uh a Greek.
>> Yeah. And you're just like >> Yeah.
>> What? Buddy, you're you're playing a Greek. Why don't you say I refuse to play this character and give it over to a real Greek if that's what you're really fighting for? It just annoyed me.
So, >> it's like he's got a list of people in the Mediterranean that he wants to play.
He played Luigi Mario. Now he's like freaking Now he's a Greek. I'm sure he's played other characters that are from that region. Probably a Spaniard or something.
>> Yeah. Give me a break.
>> A piece of garbage, huh?
>> Let me uh let me get through these real quick. Krispy says, "I know. I know my message is off topic. It's okay. Okay, it's a drunk 3e stream. Um, everybody's watching Friday Night Tig, so it's all good. But my order of the matrix of leadership for the 40th anniversary of the Transformers 86 movie came in the mail. Hail, thanks for making me feel worse than watching the Odyssey. That I think that's awesome. Uh, I don't know who this person is. I think we should ban them, but since they gave me money.
>> Yeah, banan.
>> You want to say hi to your friend? your only >> I have no idea who this is. Um >> I don't even want to read that name on my YouTube channel. It's pretty disation.
>> How does it feel?
>> Thanks for the donation. I have a feeling I know who this is. Um >> how does it feel?
>> Thanks.
>> How does it feel to be on the other end?
>> You know, for 20 I'm so tired of people talking about this movie. Well, we're done after this. Jay, here's some more money to talk about this movie. Well, we're going to continue for another 30 minutes.
Uh, Colehauser for five. Those three hours, Mo could have been better spent playing Modern Warfare 2. Now, you know, Hell Nurse Lab. No, man. We review movies over here. Cohauser, they got to do the homework. That's what we do.
>> Mu, >> that's what we do. Uh, Magnum Norris again for 10. Mosambi doesn't like anything. He's like a content troll.
I can agree with that. I can agree with that.
I I don't know who this man's talking about, but all right.
>> I was kind of thinking you were going to come out of this like, you know what? I didn't hate it. And then I'm watching it. I'm like, "Oh, he hates it a lot."
>> Well, it didn't help that my I have an old car that ran the air conditioning stopped when it was 100° out. And then I went into the theater. I watched this in a dome IMAX, which is the worst way to watch a movie. I'm sorry.
>> I wish I would watch this in a D box just to just to keep me awake. I didn't hate like I didn't I'm not like hating the film like my god it's the worst thing I've ever seen. I just was so bored that like the temptation to constantly scroll my phone is just like I actually fell asleep, believe it or not. I was in the big one in Orlando. I was up on the second floor in 17 the big theater.
>> Yeah.
>> I fell asleep during the Cyclops scene and then got the most rude awakening ever when it screamed.
>> I woke up. Yeah, I think I lost about four years off my life when I woke up from that thing screaming, but um >> All right, so let's do that. The Cyclops scene. Nothing else.
>> Okay, Cyclops.
>> Yeah. No, weird.
They didn't find out that Cyclops talked till after they stabbed him in the eye.
>> And then like uh Osidius did something so stupid at the end. So they figured out, listen, my theater was laughing when they grabbed the first guy and the cyclops was just having a snack, you know, just grabs him and just just eats them. And >> you know, apparently that's all that creature does >> is uh just eat the sheep whenever he's hungry. I mean, so he grabs a soldier and he munches and then he falls asleep.
>> So, you know, and that's it. So then now they're sitting around. Here's the thing. The thing ate a soldier, spits up like the armor, I guess, and then lays down. And immediately the guy goes, "I think he's asleep, everybody.
Let's walk over and poke at him." So then they're like, "Well, we can't get out cuz there's a giant stone, so we got to wait and run when we lift up the stone." And they try to figure it out.
And like, no. It's like, oh man, it was kind of weird. I >> it's it's it's a super important part of the story because it shows that Odysius is um not conniving but he's he's cunning, right? It's the establishment that he's a he's a cunning leader and he tricks the he tricks the Cyclops. He gets out and then he tells the Cyclops super important part of the story, you know, my name is is no one. I'm nobody.
I'm nobody. And so when the other Cyclops show up and want to kill him, they're like, "Who did this to you? Who did this to you? No one. No one did it to me. No one did this to me. Nobody did it to me."
>> And so even Poseidon doesn't know his name. It's nobody. Right. Which was kind of a important part of the story.
>> None of that happens.
>> Not at all.
>> Yeah.
>> How it how it happens in the movie is they figure out to like when the Cyclops opens the rock.
What? Who is this?
I got to ban a lot of people in my chat.
I don't know what's going on here.
>> Okay, that is the one that has the gerbal account. I guarantee it. Okay.
>> Oh, that was his hamster.
>> So, like, will this Cyclops return for Doomsday? Let's hope. Let's hope so.
What's up, man? How you doing, brother?
>> It looked cool.
>> And that noise was cool. Somehow they made a human voice.
>> Odysius.
>> No, you're you're saying Assidious.
>> Oh, did I say Acidious? My bad.
>> Twice. I don't know how.
>> My bad. Maybe that's what I got watching this film.
>> So, there's a giant rock.
The sheep come in. I guess the this giant cyclops has trained the sheep to come in in the pitch black cave, seal it with a giant rock. Uh the men are in there and they they're like looking for supplies and um they get stuck in the cave. can't see anything. One of the soldiers gets picked up for no apparent reason. He just starts eat just eats him. And then he lays down and goes to sleep and they figure out, well, we got to wait till he wakes up and open, you know, opens the door when all the sheep get out and we can just get out. So the first time they try to do it, they try, apparently the Cyclops lays his finger out by the door so he can feel all the sheep when they walk out.
>> Mhm. So some of the guards or soldiers get out and Odysius decides to stay to help his other, you know, because there's a Zeus code that you hear throughout the entire film. You got to bury yourself >> properly. You've got to give them a proper death and all that or they live in Hades, right? So that's the thing.
>> So he goes back to try to save the second >> round of soldiers. And of course, one gets this is when they stab him in the eye, freaks out. Then they hear the they hear the Cyclops speaking and they're like, "Oh, that's cool. He's talking."
Which does nothing to the plot of this movie. No one, he didn't have to speak at all. It didn't matter. And they open it up and they decide to like disguise themselves as sheep. So when he opens up the rock, they can all go out. So they all escape fine. So Odysius decides to turn around and look at the Cyclops and shoot him with an arrow for no reason, for nothing. There's no purpose for him to >> That was so stupid. That was They're walking to the ship. They got sheep.
They got food. They got everything. The uh Cyclops is in his cave. And he decides, "Oh, look. Let me do one last thing. Shoot this thing with an arrow."
So, he gets mad. Well, he gets mad and then he starts chasing them. And he chases them all the way in the water.
And And some of the guys that didn't swim really well, like they got eaten by the cyclops and they just swim away.
That's it. The side mission is done.
>> There you go. That's step one of six.
>> Yeah, they only showed three in this one though, right?
>> Uh four. So, there's the Sun Gods Island. Well, technically five. There's the Sun Gods Island, the Lotus Eaters, uh uh Cersei, uh the Cyclops, and the Lasonians.
Uh six, cuz there's also uh Caribus.
>> Maybe I did fall asleep. I don't know.
>> Yeah. So, I mean, they do the whole thing. It's just not very interesting.
>> Yeah. And like I said, like uh what when she they're on the island, what's her name? Cersei. Cersei.
>> Cersei.
>> Cersei. Cersei. Her >> supposed to be mega hot by the way.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Hubba hubba. Yikes.
>> Okay.
>> The siren.
>> Seven.
>> That was annoying. That was annoying.
>> Technically seven. Talk about a missed opportunity on that one.
>> Oh, Matt Damon. Osidius. Osidius.
whatever.
>> He goes, "Hey guys, I want to hear the siren sing, so tie me up on the boat."
And they're like, "Are you sure?" He goes, "Yeah, I'll be the first one to live after hearing the siren sing.
That'll be cool."
>> "Are you sure?"
>> They tie him up to the boat, which makes no sense whatsoever. Everybody else puts hot wax in their ears, so they can't hear him sing except for one Asian guy who's like, "I want to hear him sing."
And he just rips out the the wax and hears him sings and just jumps in the water and swims after him. You don't know what happens to him. Apparently, they eat him, I guess, right? And then, uh, nothing. You don't see it. Matt Damon's just screaming and crying like a little baby through the whole thing. And then it's done.
>> That is one of the closest closest adaptations from the book.
>> Yeah. But even on the dome screen, you could barely see the I could see the seals more than I can see the sirens.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. You don't see >> Wait, they were there? I didn't see them. They They were right behind the seal there.
>> Exactly. X-wing didn't even see them.
>> Yeah. Further left.
>> I thought it was just rocks.
>> Nope. There was seals and then there was like a vague female form because we can't have them be attractive. We can't have them be anything other than these wronged people, you know, which is how they portray all the women in this story, which is really which is one of the most aggravating parts of the story.
Hearing Penelopey nash her teeth.
Hearing Cersei talk about how this and that. Who cares? Like this is a non we didn't need a saliloquy from Cersei.
Like who cares what you I don't care what you did with your life. I don't care if you turned your sister into a crow.
>> Like it's not interesting.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. And it's just like she's evil and then but somehow she's wronged and oh I'm sorry I offended you says Odysius.
>> Uh any thoughts on Calypso who kept feeding the man mind-numbing fruit for seven years because she fell in love? The lotus >> the lotus fruit.
>> She should have been cast as Cersei in my opinion.
>> Agree.
>> You know, >> agree. Hardcore.
>> She's beautiful. That's for sure.
>> And Cersei should have been cast into the ocean. So >> Cersei should have been her. Calypso should have been Zenaia. And then uh Athena should have never been in it.
>> Yeah. I I still don't really understand why Zenaia was even in the movie. Like >> Yeah. So that was my I I agree with you.
I was like, I feel like they casted the uh cast from Spider-Man to be in this film to promote Spider-Man.
Zenaia is Athena, >> Tom Holland >> apparently, but not really. Athena. It was more like a vision that he had that reminded him of the brutality taking over Troy because Athena they do a flashback where Athena transforms into like a child I guess or teenager and she's screaming for whoever and then the soldiers just just cut her head off. So, she was a priestess at Athena's temple and it and Odysius's guilt manifests itself as that priestess >> in the movie, >> which is so stupid. I'm sorry. Compared to compared to what I >> cuz it was the only part you're like, "Okay, they have gods here. Cool." You know, Nope. He's just >> She was What? She have maybe 10 minutes screen time, five minutes. Not even in total. Yeah, maybe. Yeah, maybe five.
>> But she showed up >> ever present throughout the movie. Just >> the weirdest thing for me was at the very end when Matt Damon freaking can't say his character name.
>> Matt Matt >> was talking with his wife as the beggar.
And we have to explain that so people know what we're going on.
And Athena shows up and they look at each other and they do the freaking Ray Skywalker Kylo Ren hand touch for no reason. Like I don't even know why they did that. Why they did that? You know, they went and touched hands and then it then she disappears and then he's like, "All right, I'm about to take over my I'm going to get my kingdom back and my wife back and all that stuff back." So what happens is throughout these journeys, Matt Damon loses his entire army. Like little by little, every little side quest they do, they go to one island. Oh yeah. And they're not supposed to eat the cows >> and they get hungry enough and his whole crew, that's how they got rid of the rest of the crew.
>> They uh ate all the They ate all the cows and the and the god killed them.
And we didn't even get the joy of watching Hamish Patel's character get destroyed. He >> flo away.
>> Yeah. He just We just kind of assumed that he went away. He was the most annoying character in the entire movie.
He was second in command. Always questioned the captain, which I'm like thinking >> terrible casting choice.
>> Yeah. No, he's horrible. And he couldn't act either. And the fact that he said we're we're Greeks from Ithaca. I was just like >> Yeah, that was funny.
>> I literally went like this at this I was like get out of here.
>> Are you though? Are you >> Are you >> We had laughter. So now the crew is he has no army. So he makes it back home >> and he disguises himself as a beggar to kind of scope everything out and see what's going on, you know. Um he saves his son from Athena's temple, correct?
Cuz he goes there to like plead to the gods for I don't know, man.
>> Was it Athena's temple? And this is the problem with the movie.
>> It was a god temple. Whatever. It was a temp.
>> All the people in all the places in all of this world >> are, like I said, looks like a New York subway. You got people of all kinds of races and creeds and stuff like that.
And we're supposed to believe that it's incredibly hard to sail in between these places, but yet we have black men, we have Asian women, we have what? White, you know, we have like all insinuating that people know how to get around, you know, to so the fact that they have so much trouble on a boat and you have people from all over the world in these places is so stupid. Yeah, sorry. That's what it looks like. They're just waiting around looking all diverse and crap. And you know, it annoys it annoys me >> because I hope people that watch it enjoy it because three hours is a long time of your life. Uh, Catalyst, another 500 on kick says, "What did you think of Matt Damon's portrayal of Insidious?" I see what you did there.
>> Matt Damon, >> it's I see what you did there.
>> I'm crapping on it a lot. It's not as I will give it credit where credit's due.
It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be at all.
>> John Leguisamo.
Uh, he was in it. So, the uh he disguised himself as a as a bum. He makes his way in. He's setting up and sees in the moment. He finally reveals himself to his wife and she's like, "Okay, uh, we're going to do one last thing. If anyone can What do you call that with a bow?
>> String." Yeah, if you string this special bow and shoot this arrow, I will be your wife and you will be the king of this. So, she goes, "But here's the rules. Everyone's got to come in here with no armor and string this bow." It's like they set it up perfectly for him to kill everyone.
So, well, and here's something that didn't make sense to me. So, you supposedly still love your husband after like seven years of him being gone or whatever. You don't re recognize his voice.
>> Yeah.
>> Like >> that really you would think you would recognize your husband's voice if you really did still care about him, you know? But whatever. And then yeah, >> in the book he's in a full disguise.
Like when he comes back, he's fully disguised. He's like he's an old hermit when he comes back. Not like Odysius in a cloak. He's a full-blown old hermit.
So I in the beginning of the movie there is an old beggar that does show up on Ithaca and I thought they were setting that up as that was Odysius when he came back that was just a beggar and then we get to Ithaca at the end of the movie and it's just Matt Damon in a cloak and they're like don't tell anyone and then they go to wash his feet and the servant sees it's Odysius and he's like right right in front of the his wife too and she just doesn't see anything Like what are we not going to talk about that?
>> Oh, it was 20 years. I got it wrong. He was with Calypso 8 years, right? And then >> he was with Calypso for seven and then the rest of it was was another It was 10 years. So it was like seven years.
>> Man, I was bored. Sorry, I didn't keep up.
>> Okay, then that does make sense why maybe she didn't recognize his voice.
Then >> I still think the Trojan campaign was 10 years by itself.
>> But yeah, I don't know.
>> Yeah, it just it's a hard cell. It really is with the rest of the movie.
Uh, you know, I there there's grandparents I lost a long time ago. I would recognize their voice if they started talking and they're way less important than a wife or I'm a queen and that's my king and I spent a ton of time with him. It wasn't like she was watching TV the entire time. Wasn't much to do back then except for hang out.
>> Well, it's also like just the way he was talking to her too. Like it was just that kind of seems like she would pick up on that and be like, "Wait a minute.
Like you're you're saying certain things that only my husband would know or someone close to me would know. Like but she didn't like put that out at all. I don't know. It it was Yeah. Very weird.
Well, all the suitors they tried to uh string the bow and they couldn't do it. And then the homeless guy was like, "Hey, I want a shot." They all laughed at him and pushed him around. He strings the bow. So he reveals himself and he just starts going ham and like killing everybody was uh one man verse 20 at one time but then like you could see the one thing that I thought was kind of cool is like while he was killing people and his son got involved to help a little bit. He wasn't the greatest fighter but he did his part was that the other kingdom started kneeling you know they just gave up and they just started kneeling at him. They're like I'm not fighting you. I'm going to kneel. You're the king. That's Odysius, dude.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Like we're gonna we're going to kneel. I thought that was kind of cool. And so I I I did appreciate the ending. It was just getting there, dude.
The whole scene >> the whole scene with Tom Holland and John Bernthal, all that could have just been completely taken out of the film.
It just it just didn't need to be there.
I just thought it was just dumb.
>> Menalis was tough. That was a >> Helen of Troy has a twin sister.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> Who murdered the other king? Who murdered the other?
>> Yeah. Because he he sacrificed their daughter. They showed they didn't show the daughter being sacrificed. They just showed him carrying the daughter.
>> Yeah.
>> To uh be sacrificed. So >> Helen does have a twin brother. If I'm not mistaken, Helen does have a twin brother. And Agamemnon's wife does murder Agamemnon, but it's not Helen 2.0.
>> Yeah. And the one with John Bernthal, like her fa they they like scarred up all her her face.
>> Yeah, that was supposed to be Helen of Troy to like make fun of it, I guess.
>> 500 ships.
>> Five. He said 500. I'm like, "Oh, dude, what are we?"
>> Dude, it was so self-reerential. I'm like, who would know that that face sailed a thousand ships? Why would that be a term you >> It was in She is insufferable. Lepita Nango's character just just talking back and warning and just like just it like takes you it because that's all this modern day isms that they put in this movie that when you're into the movie and you forget about it for a little while because you've inevitably do the action happens when they're in the sea and Zeus is angry and Poseidon's trying to destroy them or not Zeus is angry but Poseidon's trying to destroy destroy them. It's interesting. So, you forget about it, but then they're like, "Hey, remember this? Remember Helena Troy?
Remember how she was wronged?" And it's like they cannot they cannot help themselves by putting the putting putting agendas in here. And it's annoying because there's a really good movie underneath all this, but Christopher Nolan just couldn't help themselves.
>> It's because The Odyssey is like one of the greatest stories ever told. That's why there's that's why everyone's like, "It's a story. It's just not done well."
You're like, "Yeah, well, that was Homer."
>> Yeah. That's cuz that's why this is under a microscop microscopy. microscope more than other films because this story's been around a long long time.
Name something that you like, Mo Magn.
>> A much better movie in this realm. Clash of the Titans 1981. Thank you very much.
>> Masters of Universe Avocados.
>> You be quiet. You're lucky. I could have just said I don't know where he is and you wouldn't have been on this stream.
You live >> I like so far He-Man's my favorite movie of the year. I like And Michael's up there, too. I love Michael. Um, Ivan for 20 woke up super early for the Odyssey watched before work. The best part about the movie were the two hot dogs and drinks for breakfast.
>> Nice.
>> Okay.
>> Yeah, fair.
>> Not a bad way to start the day.
>> Not a bad way, but yeah, I hear you.
Jane Theory, what's up, Jane? They didn't need the false diversity in the Mediterranean of all places.
Menon, did I say that right?
>> Yeah, Menon. King of who? Uh uh Ethiopia.
>> Ethiopia. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> I just got to make sure. Was there was there could have just added him.
>> And I see people talking about diversity. They conquered lands. It doesn't mean everybody lived in the same place evenly.
Like it's it's not believable to me.
>> That's the thing, dude. When you when everything is diverse, nothing is.
>> Yeah. Like seriously, if you didn't tell me that they went to Sparta, I thought they were still in Ithaca when they when they ran into John Bernth all day. They they had to and they're like, "Well, the the king loves to see strangers." I'm like, "How can you tell they're strangers?" Because there's everybody looks different on this island. Nothing nobody's strange cuz there's nobody there. It was so >> There were to be fair there were no black lashonians.
>> It was all white people, >> the giants, the half giants in the army.
that this I don't know if you guys heard, but apparently somebody's making like a fully AI version of the Odyssey and they're releasing it in like a month or so. I feel like that version's going to be more popular with the audience.
I feel like it's going to be more accurate to the story.
>> I'll watch it.
>> Yeah. I mean, I'll watch it. It can't be worse than what we just watch.
>> I got to tell you, man, like I don't care. I had to read this book. You know, I was forced to read it in school. I've seen like uh my favorite Odyssey adaptation is Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? I thought that was fantastic.
>> Agreed.
>> Um you could watch that version if you want.
>> It three hours. This was a tough movie for me to get through. It was it was it was tough. I didn't even like look at this is just me personally. I didn't even look at like, oh, there's there's so many too many black people or white people or like I like I didn't even care about that. I just wanted to get through this film because that first hour I have to keep repeating myself was just it was awful. Like it just was so like thank god I had like a big tub of popcorn to flick you know uh to keep myself occupied because >> thrown it as a little kid.
>> There were no little kids in my theater to watch this film. Thank god. And then it was like I was kind of like when they when they did the Trojan horse stuff, I was like, "Okay, I'm in. I'm invested a little bit." And then they just had modern tongue, you know, when they're like saying the f- word and stuff. And I'm like, man, >> American accents was such a wild choice, dude. We're we're we're so used to this as like good little white westerners.
We're used to everyone from history being a British guy.
>> Yeah.
>> Like if it happened in Greece, it was a British guy. It's Michael Fbender.
That's your That is your ancient Greeks.
And like that would have been so much more digestible than what we got.
>> Empire out there. What are you doing?
>> Yeah. And you have Tom Holland who's British >> doing an American accent.
>> Exactly. I I feel like all these people were they just were Christopher Nolan's friends and he's just like, "Hey man, I'm doing the Aussie. You want to get in?" "Sure. What part do I play?" "Pick one."
Just Well, I'm not Greek and we don't care about that.
>> Just say you're Greek in the story. You I know you can't act.
>> But if John Lingamo says something, just cheer him on. Cheer him on.
>> Yeah.
>> Well, he was in this film because he's related to Cash Patel and we don't want the CIA going down on uh >> Oh, yeah.
>> Chris Nolan or anything like that. So, you know, that's how that's how it was.
Well, real quick, I do want to go over and thank you guys for being here and for the super chat love and just hanging out. There's plenty of other live streams you could watch, but you decided to hang out with us. So, thank you. The criticless score whitten tomatoes around here. So, if you don't have an account, it's free to join and let your voice be heard. Maybe we'll feature you on a upcoming video. So, uh it's sitting on 58 or 59, excuse me. So, it's right up there. people aren't hating it. I gave it a 40, which is decent.
My my biggest, again, my biggest gripe is I just was bored. I didn't I didn't look at any like political messaging.
Maybe because I just couldn't focus.
They had some moments that were great, but the sound the sound and the noise just wrecked it. Like it just it it it took me out of it. So anyway, I gave it a 40. We got a 39.
Bogus 27. Mo gave it a 40. Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo Mo liked it better than me and then uh Philip Pierre gave it a five.
>> No comment added.
>> Yeah, just it sucked. 65 here. 65.
68. I I probably won't go through all of them. Just a couple. Uh 20s. Another soulless lifeless stale and boring.
Man, some people are angry. 5% here. 32 one 20. There was a 90. Top tier Nolan movie.
>> Sure.
>> Is that it?
>> There you go.
>> That's all you said.
>> Yeah. I just uh the the way I tried to describe it last night, I was I was talking to Beer about it was like the Odyssey is an extremely colorful and deep canvas and he took it and he painted it with like pastel crayons. It was just very thin. It was very surface level. It was very thin. It was very boring.
>> Um, >> there's Ben. He gave it a 70.
>> It's tough. I don't know.
>> Uh, 51, 22, 60, 90, 40, 65, 100.
Wow.
I think uh going super hard positive for this is disingenuous. I think going super hard negative for it is disingenuous as well. Unfortunately, this is it's kind of a nothing burger.
>> There's a two-hour cut of this movie that would be vastly superior to what we got.
>> I agree. I think if they trimmed an hour and 20 minutes off, like I I probably would love it.
So >> yeah, >> if he they could do that with if he was just retelling the story to Calypso and that's how they framed the movie was him just retelling the story to Calypso and it just jumped from spot to spot to spot. You're cutting an hour off that film off rip.
>> Just remember you're gay.
Um just wanted to throw that out there.
Yeah, I don't Any any final thoughts?
Any last thing chat? Uh chat, if you for those that saw it, if you could give me a rating from 1 to 10, like just put it in the chat, please.
>> So, >> I just feel like there's much better epic adventures that have been done over the last 80 years that dog walked this movie that you could watch. You could watch Benur, you could watch Spartacus, you could watch Clash of the Titans is more enjoyable. You know, it's just like it's it's >> gods in that.
>> Yeah. Yeah. There's and and an awesome clockwork owl. Don't sleep on that guy.
That was one of the best parts of the movie. And and Burgess Meredith or Yeah.
So, >> it's it's just not a it's it it's a bloiating movie that is trying to deliver a message and anybody says otherwise hasn't watched a movie. They do it and they hit you over the head with it multiple times. That's what I don't like about it. If they cut that out, cut an hour out, made it flow better, it would be a very good movie. So, >> yeah, he uh accidentally made a based movie, believe it or not. I think he really tried to make like the big point to be that the trans person was the most brave in all of this, right? Uh, and that we should honor them at the end of at the end of all things.
We should honor this very brave trans person. But the big story was the nuclear family. It was all about getting home, honoring your wife, honoring your husband, honoring your children. Um, as hard as he tried, he just couldn't scrub that out of the story. Couldn't get rid of it.
I I would recommend this film. I recommend all my movies to people to watch if I feel like I could watch I could sit in the theater and watch it again. I cannot do that with this film.
>> Just me. It's just I I would be so bored. I would have to have like my laptop with me.
>> So, and what I hear a lot from and I see you someone's going have to read Jane theory super chat because I can't pronounce half these words. So, if someone can give me a little hand here.
>> All right. Uh, go ahead. X-wing.
>> I don't know why I like I was going to do that. I apologize. Um, Agamemnon and Menon were different. One Greek and the other Ethiopian. How they are referred to the people south of Egypt. JS. I don't know what JS is.
I'm just saying uh they had legitimate diversity but chose to make it silly for no reason.
>> Yeah.
I can't even watch the trailer again.
That bad, huh?
>> I think I'll watch it when it releases at home.
>> Jeremy. Yes, I am.
>> I can't recommend going to the theater for this one. I would say just wait until it's on streaming because then you can pause it and take breaks. it or >> I didn't miss anything when I walked out those few times. So, >> fast forward through Cersei's because that's a stupid >> monologue. Penelopey towards the end is a stupid monologue. There's a lot of places where it's just like >> I get what they were trying to do with Cersei. I mean, they're talking about like the the uh human nature, right?
That's what that was the exposition was human nature.
>> But did Odysius have to say, "I'm sorry I offended you because that made me ill."
>> No.
>> During that line, no. The thing is like I hear a lot of talk that Christopher Nolan is not my favorite director and I know he's made a lot of great movies that people absolutely love. I'm just it's just not my style. You know, I'm not a critic or anything. It's just you like what you like, right?
>> Yeah.
>> Um I'm more of a James Cameron kind of guy. Okay. So, and there's nothing wrong with that. But it's like people keep telling me when it comes to Christopher Nolan, you got to watch you got to watch the movie twice in the theater and then it'll you'll feel better about it. I'm like, well, I don't want to do that.
>> Yeah, >> it's a long time, man. You're talking three and a half close to four hours with previews, man.
>> No way.
>> The only way I'm doing that is if it's Avatar. Sorry. Not sorry.
>> Yeah.
>> Or if I'm watching T1 and T2 back to back, then then maybe I can.
>> And I had an hour drive up there, too.
So, this was truly an odyssey for me, dude. I had an hour drive up and you got all the previews and then three hours of movie and an hour drive. It's back.
>> Before we close, so far in 2026, and you might have only watched one or two movies XW. What What has been your top movie? We'll go around. We'll go around the room.
What's been your top movie this year?
The Rocketeer >> that came out in 2026.
>> I think the only other one I've gone to the theater for was He-Man.
>> And that's it, baby. He He-Man. Let's go.
>> I would say um Obsession is probably my pick, but for a good theater experience, it's He-Man for sure.
>> Nurse Slap, what about you, buddy?
Well, honestly, Project Hail Mary, great film.
>> Like, that's my top movie. I mean, obviously, my next choice would be He-Man, but uh I got to go with Project Hail Mary because I watched that one like four or five times back toback within the span of like a month. So, >> yeah.
>> Nice.
Uh yeah, uh Project Hail Mary, there was a return to sci-fi goodness, uh where there was some I know it's not the heaviest compared to the book, The Science in that movie, but I loved it because it's proof that you could do something like Star Trek and not have it be Star Trek and still get hit all those notes that Star Trek fans like me love.
So, I thought it was great. But my favorite experience was probably Michael being in the theater. Literally the theater was shaking with people tapping their feet. They might not have been dancing the entire time, but it was that was the most electric theater experience I've ever experienced in my life. It was awesome. So, >> if we're saying experience, uh, Young Washington, cuz my theater got real excited with >> that was a great >> I want to see that.
>> It's so good, dude. You might be able to get free tickets. People are like pre-bying tickets for people.
>> Really?
>> Young Washington was fantastic. Uh, highly recommend Young Washington.
Um, He-Man's still my favorite movie of the year.
>> Dune 3 is going to be the one. I'm telling you. I keep telling everyone, dismiss it at your own peril.
>> I have no interest to see a Dune.
>> Ah, it's going to be >> I hope you love it, brother. And listen, I'm not trashing it. A lot of people are looking forward to it. I hope I hope everyone that's looking forward to it love it. The Dune movies just weren't for me. Young Washington, >> you will love that movie. It is >> I hope they do the whole Yeah, I hope they do the whole trilogy. and uh we get to see that. But anything else? That's it. We did an hour and some change.
Thank you to X-Wing and NerdLap and Mo for coming on and wasting four hours of your life with the Odyssey.
So, and uh but if you enjoyed the movie, I really am happy that you enjoyed it.
Don't ever listen to us. I would never tell you what not to enjoy and what not to spend your money on. That's ridiculous. You earn that money. go spend it. And uh man, have fun and enjoy what you enjoy. So that's that's what it's all about. Life's too short to sit back and be like, I don't want to say anything because I like the film. No, if you like it, you like it. I liked He-Man and that movie bombed bigger than Hiroshima.
>> Did it Did it bomb?
>> It did.
>> It did.
>> Unfortunately, it was good though.
>> I loved it though.
>> The biggest bomb ever.
>> Uh they probably lost like 200 million, but whatever. Uh, let's go Dune. Jane Theory is looking forward to Dune.
>> Let's go. Let's go see.
>> I think I for those that uh, you know, that want to see it.
>> I hope you guys really love it. I I probably will see it just to do a review cuz I I watched the other two, but man, >> you're going to love it.
>> If I got to hear that again, man, I'm done.
>> It's in there.
>> All it is is people like walking in the sand singing that tune with worms.
That's all it is.
>> Hey, don't forget Zenaia.
>> And Zenaia.
>> And oh, and guess who's back? Robert Patson.
>> Zenaia will return in Dune 3.
>> Zenaia is in like all the top movies this year.
>> She's in everything.
I've got Zenaia fatigue, >> you know. Good for her, you know. Good for her. At least she's not coming out like making statements, right?
>> Yeah. She's been quiet.
>> Can we agree on that one?
>> Yeah. She's not Pedro Pascal or anything like that.
>> She's just getting that money.
>> Yeah, she's not coming out making statements that we're here for girl power. If she has, I haven't seen it.
Anyway, I'm hitting the red button.
>> God bless you guys. We'll see you right here on this channel for the Monday Hangover as we go. We're going to be watching Jurassic Park.
>> Yes.
>> So, Monday 6 PM in honor of Sam Neil. in Jurassic Park. This
