Why James Hillman Prefers the 7th Generation over the Future

[00:00:05]I like thinking [music] in terms of the biblical unto the seventh generation.

[00:00:11]That's ties one much more closely to the earth and what happens to the earth. What you're doing in regard to the earth so that it persists into the seventh generation. And if it's farther removed from thinking about the future, which tends to be an abstract [music] thing.

[00:00:31]Whereas the next generation involves burials or it involves [music] the sense of a generation dying and the next one coming on. So, thoughts of what I would like the generations to come to think about is the generations [music] to come. That they keep on thinking of continuity. They think about about maintenance. They think about long-term things. They think about and they act in terms of long-term things.
