Content creators who provide financial advice often have their own self-interests and may give contradictory recommendations (such as telling viewers to sell investments while simultaneously offering to buy them), making it essential for individuals to develop their own investment strategies, set clear buy/sell points, and commit to them rather than following others' advice, as being late to market trends typically results in buying high and selling low.

PokeNE Told You to SELL Your Pokémon Collection… Then Tried to BUY It 😳Added:
PokeNE said to sell all of your sealed Pokémon because it'll be worthless when you can't sell it in the future. Team Rocket Joey says hold it till it goes to the moon because Pokémon is the easiest thing to sell ever. Guys, this is why I keep telling you you have to stop listening to content creators about your financial decisions. So, if you pay attention to other Pokémon channels outside of my own, you probably noticed over the past couple days a little back and forth happening between this man Team Rocket Joey and this man PokeNE.
And so, this all started when PokeNE made a video about Pokémon investing and why you should be selling your stuff before it gets to a certain point that he calls unsellable. So, quick recap from this video, he said that if everybody holds because the investing channels want you to hold for 5 to 10 years, eventually stuff gets to a price where it is no longer sellable. And in his case, he says when booster boxes are 3 to $5,000, it's very difficult for them to sell. If everybody has this mindset, everybody then tries to sell it 5 to 10 years down the road, nobody will be able to sell it because there won't be enough demand to buy the boxes at that price any longer. That's an extremely simplified version, but basically the message of the video is if you are a sealed investor and you are up on your stuff, you should probably just sell it now before it gets too difficult or too expensive to actually move. Now, when I came across that video, I was on my phone, so you only see one thumbnail at a time. This is the video right here.
That is the thumbnail. It is time to sell. That is what I came across, how I came across the video, and when I watched it. I kid you not, the very next thing in the timeline for YouTube was this post from PokeNE saying I am buying all collections. This video telling you to sell your collection, sell your investments, all your sealed products was posted 2 days ago. The post about him buying collections was posted the very next day. So, 2 days ago, he tells you to sell. The next day, he offers that he is buying all collections, any collections, basically any size. Then Team Rocket Joey makes a video about PokeNE saying that Poke is the biggest shill ever where he told you to buy all this stuff, Pokemon is going to the moon, and now he's telling you to seal it at the same time that he is also telling you that he will give you an out, he will buy your collections. And so, I don't really care who's right or wrong in their videos, whose information is the most correct. That's not what I'm worried about. I want to make this video to tell you guys you need to stop listening to these people. Joey, Poke, anybody else in the space who is telling you what you should be doing with your financial decisions, need to stop listening to them because none of them have your best interest in mind. And actually, to his credit, Team Rocket Joey actually does say that in this video.
That content creators, himself included, make videos and give information that is beneficial for them. Everybody has their own best interest in mind. But you need to stop taking these spur-of-the-moment videos, these content creators who are telling you to buy one month, sell another month. Stop letting them influence and make your decisions for you. If you are always trying to chase the next thing, whether that is selling or buying. If we are trying to buy and invest in this stuff, or if it is, you know, the bear market, it's time to sell. If you're always trying to chase, if you are always waiting for somebody else to tell you what it is time to do, you are always going to be late. And when you are late onto trends, if you are always trying to chase the next trend, and you're not the one setting the trend, if you are the one who is listening to other people and following it, you are always getting the worst end of the deal. You end up buying too late, things are too expensive, you end up selling too late, price has already come down. So, you, if you are always chasing, you're buying high, selling low. That's the opposite of what you're supposed to be doing in any financial situation. And because these people get thousands of views, there There thousands of other people who are listening to this doing the same thing. When they say do X, Y, and Z, you now have a ton of people who start following in that direction. You are not the only person that they're speaking to. They're not giving you inside information to get ahead of this stuff.
You're always on the back foot because they've already made their moves. Then they post the video and then thousands of other people follow it. This is very much how the stock market works and why a lot of people who individuals who try to chase different trends end up losing money in the stock market while the big banks and the mutual funds and all those stuff, those are the people who end up making all of the money and it's because they are the ones who have the inside information and then they post once they've already bought into something, they post that they are, you know, the price is going to go up and so people start buying and then the price goes up and then they sell it and then they tell people, "Oh, now it's time to crash. This is looking bad or whatever." And so, they're always the ones uh at the peaks and the valleys who are making the moves and then you guys are the ones in the middle who keep doing this. And that's what's happening with the Pokémon community, with the content creators, all of that. They tell you to buy, they tell you to invest, and then at the same time they tell you, "Oh, actually, you're not going to be able to sell it, so you need to sell it now so you can actually make some money because uh you know, even if the market price is $10,000, you can't sell it, it's worth $0. So, they're telling you, "Sell it now. Oh, and by the way, I'm also going to buy any collection from anybody who is looking to get out." The best thing that you, the individual, can do for yourself is to pick a strategy and commit to it.
You have to stick to one strategy.
Whatever that strategy is, it doesn't matter. Whoever is giving advice that you enjoy, that you appreciate, that that makes sense to you, pick that strategy and then that's it. That's the only strategy. There is no other options, there's no choices, there's no moves. You just stick with it and then as long as you stick with it diligently and you're not letting these other people control your emotions, letting these other people control your decisions, you will most likely come out ahead as long as it's a good strategy.
There's obviously terrible strategies out there, but pick a good strategy and commit to it. You have to stick to it.
No matter what this Reddit post says, no matter what these content creators tell you, you have to say this is what I'm doing. Let's say this all started he's talking about the sealed investments. If you are a sealed investor, okay? That's what that's your decision. That is what you are choosing to do. I'm going to buy as you know, a couple sealed products from each set that comes out and I'm going to hold it for 5 to 10 years.
Stick to it. Don't let somebody tell you, oh, you're not going to be able to sell it. Don't let somebody create the fear inside of you that, oh, it's going to be worthless. You have to commit to it, okay? And look, there is a possibility somehow incredibly small possibility, but there's a possibility that Pokémon goes out of business and the cards become worthless. Nobody ever wants them in the future. Sure, that's a possibility. Same way that like you could, you know, invest in a mutual fund and the US economy could crash and everything could become, you know, zero. Like that's technically possible as well, but you have to decide like this is my thing and I'm going to just stick with this thing. If you are the sealed investor who holds on to stuff until you get what whatever whatever rate of return you're looking for. I mean, let's say like if you want you know, 300% return, right? So, three times your money. Like that's a really, really good return. It would take you a very long time in the stock market to reach that return. And depending on where you buy some of these stuff, your investments or I mean, your sealed investments, depending on what you buy this stuff at, it's actually it gets to 3x in a relatively short amount of time, a couple of years. If you just do that over and over and over with every Pokémon generation, every set you buy one or two, you know, maybe five a handful of of things on set release. Let's say you're able to find it at MSRP in uh the stores. You hold it until it becomes three times its value, and then you sell it. And you just do that for every single set, every single generation. Once you get to the point where everything is starting to hit, cuz they kind of all Most of the sets will move in line with each other.
You have outliers like Destined Rivals, um you know, Evolving Skies, Prismatic Evolution, stuff like that. But they all mostly start to hit around the same future time period, and then you are making three times the money for each one. And you just do that for, you know, forever. But if you buy something currently with a the elevated prices that we're getting, if you're buying, let's say, booster boxes at market price, so you bought Phantasmal Flame booster boxes at $300, cuz that's what it was when it was releasing.
And then you are, you know, like listening to this, and you're panicking right now, and you're selling your Phantasmal, you know, booster box. I don't even know what it is right now, but I'm pretty sure you'd end up losing money after the fees. I mean, unless you end up doing a cash deal with somebody, but you'd end up losing money if you listen to the people who are telling you that you've got to sell your stuff now.
And maybe they're not talking about Phantasmal Flames, but the point is the same. If you are letting them dictate when you're buying and when you're selling, it's against your best interest. It's not going to be what helps you. It's not going to be what is the best option for you. You need to just stick with this is my thing. Your thing could be, let's say, graded cards.
Stick with the graded cards. And again, pick a point. This is a more like broad financial, you know, strategy. When you are in the If you're doing like day trading or short-term investing, not like the, you know, long-term retirement stuff.
If you're doing short-term uh investing, they tell [clears throat] you to pick a point. Like this is your your your sell point, and then your your your buy or I mean your your get out point basically.
Like it's it's your your gains and your losses is what it is.
Pick the amount of money because you very rarely will lose money on Pokémon unless you freak out and sell like now like they're telling you to. If you buy, say you want two times, three times, four times. Try not to get greedy. Like if you say I want, you know, 10x my money, now you're you're getting very greedy and that's probably going to be very difficult to achieve. But two, three x, if you double or triple your money, again, like I said, that would take you a very long time in the stock market.
People in the stock market are hoping to get like 8% return. If you get a 200 or a 300% return, like take it. Just just say yes.
Okay, good. We're we're we're good.
Perfect. Awesome. I just tripled my money. You can't complain about tripling your money.
And then just stick to that. Just do that with every single set. Do it with your graded cards. Buy chases, get them graded, you know, wait till they get to 2x, sell. Like graded cards don't appreciate quite the same way that sealed stuff does. So, you have to be a little bit more okay with smaller returns. But again, it's the same it's the same concept. You just have a number. When I hit this number, I sell. And that's just what it is. And if you have discipline, if you set these limits, if you set the the the number, your goal, for every single set and you just sell when it hits to that point, you're not greedy, you're not trying to hold this stuff for 20 years, you're just buying, selling when it gets to your point, taking that money, buying more, repeat. If you just keep doing that and you are diligent with it, you don't let, you know, these people influence you, guess what? You're up. You're good. The people who are telling you to sell want to buy. Why does Why does Poki Any want to buy? Why is he offering to buy collections if he's saying this stuff is going to be unsellable at a certain point in the future because he knows it's going to sell. He knows that it will sell on a long enough timeline and he's fine waiting. He doesn't need the money the way some other people could need the money and that was part of his videos talking about like if you need the money in the future and it doesn't sell then it's worthless to you. He doesn't need the money so he doesn't care how long it takes to sell. He knows that it will eventually sell.
So he's buying everything at the same time that he's telling you to sell everything.
You don't have to be a genius to see that this is not in your best interest.
The advice that is being given is not to benefit you. It's to benefit him and every content creator does the same thing. Me included some of the videos that I make where I talk about stuff. It is to benefit me too, but I'm also here to tell you that like that is what it is. I'm not somebody who tells you I don't do investing like you know advice. Like I that's not the sector that I'm in. I don't understand it anywhere near enough to give advice to people. You shouldn't listen to my investing advice.
I mean I guess I just gave a bunch of investing advice, but you know what I'm saying, right?
Don't listen to to people in general content creators telling you that you need to do something because they will turn around at the same time and then do the opposite of that thing. They tell you what to do so that they can make the move in the opposite direction and then it just flips. Vice versa it just boom boom boom it just keeps going back and forth. I mean like you have this comment right here from Poke about if [clears throat] you know if he talks about selling then people say oh you just want to build your inventory and if he tells you that you should buy then oh he just wants people to buy your stuff. And he says which one is it? Por que no los dos. Why can't it be both?
Cuz it is both. It's a cycle. It goes back and forth the same way the Pokémon market goes from a bear and a bull market back and forth. It's the same exact thing, okay?
They you tell people to buy so you can get rid of stuff. And then you tell people to sell so you can get more stuff. And then it just keeps flipping back and forth. You go between the cycles of buying and selling, buying and selling, buying and selling. It's what businesses do, and that's what Poki Eni does. And that's okay. That's There's nothing wrong with that, but I don't think that it's a good thing um to to be trying to tell people what they have to do. And I know for a fact it's not a good thing for you guys to listen and make your decisions based off of this. Now, this may have just been a ranty video, and I apologize if it was uninteresting to you guys, but I really do think you need to stop listening to anybody who is telling you what you should do with your money. This isn't even just a Pokémon specific thing. Don't listen to people telling you what you should do with your money.
You have to come up with a strategy for yourself, something that makes sense, and you have to stick with it, and you don't let other people influence that because most of the time, unless it's a family member, a good family member, not a bad family member, you know the difference. Unless it's a family member, they're not giving you advice for your best interest.
They're giving you advice that is going to benefit them. If it benefits you at the same time, okay, that's that's good, but it's still in order to benefit them.
So, stop listening to content creators telling you what you need to do with your Pokémon, with your money, investments of any kind. You need to just stop listening to people. You have to be autonomous. You have to be able to make your own decisions. You have to set your own limits, and you have to stick to it. That's the only way to come out ahead. Otherwise, you're always chasing.
And if you're always chasing, you're always late. And whenever you're talking about financial stuff, if you are late, you're the one who's getting taken advantage of. Hopefully, this rant all made sense to you guys, and I'm happy to answer any questions down in the comments down below if you have some.
So, please leave them down below. I'll try to answer every comment and and stay up-to-date with this this video uh specifically. No hate to anybody that I talked about in this video. There are tons of people, Rudy Invest, uh Alpha Investments, uh Nostalgia Nomics.
There's like a million people who make uh this content, this style of content.
No hate to them specifically. I don't think any of them are doing anything wrong. They're doing what's in their best interest, and that's what everybody really ultimately seeks to do.
I just want you guys to know that that is the case, that they all do it for their own best interest.
And that your best interest is not to listen. But thanks for watching this video, guys. If you did make it this far, you definitely should subscribe to the channel.
