[00:00:25]Minneapolis a very good team. All right, let's talk about this weather. Let's get to the radar right now. We've got these storms dropping in and we've got two new severe thunderstorm warnings since the top of the show. The first one, Medina County and just clipping Somerset and southwest Bear County. And you can see that polygon extends all the way down to the south and east into Addiscosa County. And then just about 5 minutes ago, the second thunder thunderstorm warning that's in effect until 11:00. It starts in southwest Medina County and is running down into Persaw, which is Frio County. Let me put a few more counties on the map and show you where this storm line is moving. I'm tracking the entire line here. And you can see it's moving southeast at about 35 milesPH going to impact Divine by about 10:41. Northern Pieraw 1050. Dilly 11:05. Strawberry capital of Potit at 1113. Charlotte, Pleasanton, 11:20 to 11:28. It should hold together. I mean, you've got to realize we've got so much moisture availability. Due points have been running mid to upper 60s. The atmosphere very, very ripe. You felt just exactly how ripe it was today with all the humidity. Now, these are the other warnings a little farther north up I35.

[00:01:45]So, put some parameters here. Here's New Bronals and Sigin. So this warning polygon does clip Guadalupe County, but when you see Guadalupe County under a warning, it's not going to impact Sigin.

[00:01:58]There will be rain in Sigin, but it won't be severe. The severe part of this line is farther north and now just moving east of Austin and heading towards Giddings. Give you uh-oh, new warning. This is brand new now into Bear County. So now San Antonio under a severe thunderstorm warning. Let me step off and get this down and and see exactly what we've got here for San Antonio and give you a few instructions on this guy. So, let's see what we've got here. You can see that that warning just now issued is going to be in effect for San Antonio as that portion of the line of storms is producing should be at least 1 in size hail as well as winds of at least 55 to 60 mph. That's typically what you need for a severe thunderstorm. Right now, it's radar indicated and we've got this cell about 11 mi northeast of Castraville moving southeast at 35 mph.

[00:02:55]So, no change there, but the hazards are 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

[00:03:01]So, again, the minimum on a severe thunderstorm. But here's what we've got.

[00:03:06]Again, this just went in. This was just issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Bear County. now. And this is until 11 p.m. It covers the heart of the city.

[00:03:16]And you can see Halotus, Castle Hills, Hollywood Park, all of downtown inside Loop 410 under this warning until 11:00 p.m. Now, I'm going to be honest with you, this storm does not look very impressive. Okay, we're going to be keeping a very close eye on it, but with radar indicating a 60 m per hour wind gust and hail quarter size, we we've got to pay close attention. This is definitely going to be something you want to protect your car from, okay? And and just keep in mind that you're going to have uh the possibility of seeing some hail damage on any vehicle that's exposed. But remember, a quarter size isn't going to be too too bad. Let's go ahead and track now this entire line and move this southeast at 35 milesPH.

[00:04:01]And now take a look at these communities impacted. You can see Casterville 1029, Converse and Northeast Bear County 10:32.

[00:04:09]Whenever you see San Antonio on a list like this, that's downtown. So that's typically right at the courthouse. Alamo Dome at 10:50 and then Somerset 1058 and then you see Potit at about 11:20 as well. Okay. And then that was the last track that we were doing. So again, this line expect is doing everything it was expected to do. But here's the good news. It's just this line, okay, that's moving through. And that's why we have the severe thunderstorm watch up until midnight. Embedded here, of course, all of these severe thunderstorm warnings.

[00:04:40]Let's bring in some weather coverage. We do it by teams here at Ken's 5. Whenever we're at a level two or level three, David, you know, we start communicating on the Ken 5 weather team, how are we going to handle this? Because again, we got to keep San Antonio zone ahead of the storms. You were tracking these this afternoon. You saw larger hail and more damaging winds then, right? When these storm lines started up out west. Yeah, that's right. We saw some definitely some large hail out towards the west in Valverity County, Kenny County, and Edwards County. In my opinion, I think the most impressive uh impacts were up farther towards the north. Now, I just want to start off showing the radar showing most of the Lone Star State. And you can see that the storms are pretty much organized. It's in a line draped across much of the I35 corridor heading up towards Dallas. Dallas is seeing some rain in the Tex Arcana region as well.

[00:05:31]This is due to a cold front. So typically when we have a cold front, you have a line of rain and storms ahead of the front. It's because of the difference in temperature and cold air is more dense and that warm air goes over the cold air and that is allows for storms to spark up ahead of the front.

[00:05:47]So that's the reason why these storms are more organized in nature. And I was talking about why the impacts were more impressive up farther towards the north.

[00:05:56]It's because that area, the Koncho Valley area, was within a level three out of five risk for severe weather. Uh we definitely saw some changes over the past couple of hours of this severe thunderstorm outlook by the Storm Prediction Center. But earlier in the day, San Angelo was part of that level three out of five risk for severe weather. And that's where we saw much of the impacts. We saw hail up to an inch in diameter, thunderstorm wind damage in that area as well right around 5:15 in the evening. Hail damage uh just north of the Hill Country and also a flash flood warning in Bell County as well.

[00:06:32]But we're still seeing those impacts as of right now with those new severe thunderstorm warnings for the San Antonio metro and also for Medina County and for Freo County. So that's why we still have a level two out of five risk for severe weather is because we can't keep our guard down. As Bill was talking about, we have that abundance of moisture and of course we still have that difference in temperature. So the storms will continue to spark up as long as that line of of uh cold air continues to move towards the southeast. So we'll still have a weather impact alert for the rest of the night and for Monday early morning as these storms continuously trek towards the coastal bend. So the need stay weather aware and also have a way to receive alerts from the National Weather Service. I know for sure throughout the rest of this show we'll continue to keep you updated if a new severe thunderstorm warning pops up.

[00:07:34]We'll be providing coverages on social media and also with the stream. So, Bill, it looks like you have the futurecast. Can you show us the timing of the line of rain and storms throughout the rest of the night and the early morning?

[00:07:45]>> Yeah, we've got to honor some meteorologists first. SPC, Severe Prediction Center doing a great job of getting the two and the three areas correct. And remember, those are issued at least 24 hours ahead of time. And then also the HR model. This one is nailing this forecast and it's been very good lately on the last few systems moving through. And I just want to show you 10 o'clock that again the storms were moving in right on schedule according to what this uh model thought.

[00:08:11]All right. So at midnight you can see that the strongest storms are expected to be over Sigin up the I35 corridor. We still see rain, but a lot of this beginning to weaken across the area, drying out by 2 in the morning, but still some active weather east from Gonzalez into Howletsville, south from Victoria to Beville. And another cluster expected to develop from Ualdi south to Eagle Pass, maybe impacting Ciso Springs, Crystal City, then Piersaw gets another round of heavy rain as does Cula. This is 4 a.m. And you see these lines again passing off mainly to the south of San Antonio. So, I really feel that by say 1 or 2 a.m. the city and metro are done. And then anything that does occur is going to be south and southeast of the city. And it looks as though the storms that are moving closer to the coast will still have enough power and certainly enough moisture and energy to stay pretty strong. Speaking of strong, look at these winds. This is 1 in the morning. Wind gusts are forecast to go 30 plus. San Antonio over to Hondo. And then here's 7:00 a.m. with a 25 to 30 mph gust straight out of the north. It's going to be a windy morning commute. The good news is with wind speeds like this overnight, the rain that we're going to get right now should dry out by the morning commute. So the roads should be dry as long as we get these wind speeds in. That always dries us out despite the lack of sunshine in the overnight hours, right? All right.

[00:09:36]So even midday temp I mean winds are going to be expected to be 20 to 25.

[00:09:40]Could you imagine if those were temperatures at midday? 20 degrees. No thanks. All right. Humidity. You know what? Back and forth. Most of the week it's staying relatively lower. You know, you can see that it's not going to be in the 60s and approaching 70s. So, this will be a little more comfortable if we can keep those numbers in the 50s. All right, a live look outside. So, we should be seeing the skyline right here.

[00:10:00]But man, you can see what's going on with the wind speeds out there currently. Temperature- wise, we've got 81 on the thermometer, but look at the animometer. North and northwest at 30 mph right now. Due point still very high. So again, conditions are in place for more rain. Look at the highs that we went into this with right around 90 across most of the area. Wow, look at these highs. Del Rio 98, Eagle Pass, Ciso Springs, both a pair of 99s. All right, 14-day forecast time from San Fernando Cathedral. Again, the last of the rain early tomorrow morning and it'll be south of us. So, I would say by 4:00 a.m., maybe 5:00 a.m. at the latest, we should see even the communities to our south drying out.

[00:10:43]Then we're off to a partly cloudy Monday. Highs will hit 85. It will be breezy in the morning and then winds died down in the afternoon. Tuesday, 86.

[00:10:51]You can see we're warming up on a dry week, but we'll bring back rain chances as early as Saturday the 16th, Sunday the 17th, running at 40% and get even better on Tuesday the 19th. So, we've got some rain days as we head into miday.
