[00:00:00]Testing confirmed that 50% of deer ticks can contain the bacteria that causes Lyme, known as Borrelia burgdorferi. You shouldn't let this scare you away from going outside. Use sprays with aromatic essential oils around your ankles and around your neck. Be sure to tuck in your pants to your socks, and plant aromatic herbs and alliums throughout your garden to repel the ticks. And as a reminder, the deer ticks generally have to be attached for at least 24 hours to transmit Lyme disease, although it can happen sooner, but is extremely unlikely. There are many signs you could have gotten Lyme disease, not just a bull's-eye. So, it's important that if you think it's been attached for a while, you go see your doctor.
