[00:00:00]Well, our main news this morning is that Israel is now warning that anti-semitism in Britain is out of control after another terror attack.

[00:00:08]>> Yes, two Jewish men were stabbed in broad daylight in golden green. In reaction, the terror watchdog has declared anti-semitism the biggest national emergency since co.

[00:00:19]>> Well, police confirmed the suspected attacker is a British national originally from Somalia who has a history of violence.

[00:00:27]Well, Israel's warning that the prime minister can no longer claim the issue is under control comes after a protest in North London last night. Those who joined the march could be heard chanting K starmer due harm.

[00:00:40]>> Well, let's talk to reformer UK's education spokesperson Suela Braman.

[00:00:44]Good morning to you. What are we meant to do about all of this? Because I mean, as our guest said in the last hour, who who's dealt with terrorism in the UK throughout his career, this isn't just about resources now. It's about we need to somehow cool the temperatures, change the mindset.

[00:01:03]>> Thank you for uh joining, good to join this morning. What we need to do now is see action. We've had years of platitudes, meaningless words, and fatuous tweets from those in charge. And when I tell you about those in charge, I talk about this current Labor government and the previous Conservative government. This started many years ago.

[00:01:28]And we've not seen any meaningful action which displays any real commitment to tackling this problem. The government are gaslighting the British people and importantly the Jewish community.

[00:01:41]>> What action do we need to see? Swellow Bravman. Could we start with prescribing the IRGC?

[00:01:47]>> Absolutely. That would be a very good place to start. Now the previous Tory government refused to prescribe the IRGC which puts the blame at their door. But this government is continuing to refuse to prescribe the IRGC. At least this this government's gone a little bit further than the last one. It's actually promised to do so. But this promise is wearing thin as it made it before the last general election. It should be of it should have been done by now. The IRGC is often the root cause of this kind of thuggery, harassment, and violence that we see on the British streets. We need to prescribe the Muslim Brotherhood, another Islamist group that is often linked to many of these attacks targeted at the Jewish community. And importantly, we need to ban the hate marches. There has been a an extreme indulgence of anti-semitism and extremism on our streets. It has to end.

[00:02:43]>> Um, when you were home secretary, you brought in a series of measures. Um, as you criticizing the last government on this, you were home secretary and therefore having to deal with things like this. But one of the criticisms, I mean, you did bring in sort of directives on zero policy policing and those sort of things, but you were criticized for potentially um getting involved in the the Metropolitan Police um operational independence on this. How do we move forward so that people aren't actually putting up those sort of barriers?

[00:03:16]>> Well, let's just correct the record. At the last when I was home secretary, I was infuriated by the failure by the Met Commissioner to stand up against Jew hatred. Following October the 7th, it was clear that the hate marches were out of control. People were no longer just peacefully protesting. They were chanting jihad in the streets of London.

[00:03:39]They were planning to march on Armistice Day. There was anti-semitism. They were firing flares. They were scaling war memorials and scaffolding.

[00:03:48]um that it was out of control and yet the Met police led by the commissioner Mark Rowley failed to take any meaningful action. As home secretary, I grew increasingly frustrated with him and I lost confidence with him because I felt he wasn't doing enough. I blew the whistle. I blew the whistle and I called it out. I stood up for the Jewish community. I stood up against the police failure. Unfortunately, the Conservative prime minister and the Conservative cabinet, including Camilo, did not support me and I lost my job for it. I would do it again because someone had to speak out. Someone had to tell the truth about the total and utter failure at the heart of the Met police to take anti-semitism seriously. And I'm afraid what have we what are we seeing nearly three years on? We're seeing Jews being murdered on the streets of Manchester.

[00:04:37]and we're seeing almost a a regular or weekly attempt on the lives of Jewish people in North London.

[00:04:44]>> Do you welcome then the intervention by Israel who have said that anti-semitism is out of control in the UK?

[00:04:52]>> They're stating the facts. Yes, it is out of control. I mean, I was saying this in 2023.

[00:04:57]Um, and if the last Conservative government had actually listened to me and instead of sacking me, had actually agreed to ban the hate marchers, agreed to um, uh, ban the IRGC, we might not have been in this position today.

[00:05:14]>> How do we get to a point though because I mean this is in in a wider society, you know, you can't ban everything that is pro Palestinian. You've got to allow people. So, how do we educate people to have a pro Palestinian march if that's what they want to do, but without incorporating levels of hate within that and those um anti-semitic slogans and chanting?

[00:05:38]>> Well, I of course peaceful protest is permissible. The key is peaceful. The key is that people can express their views. They they they are free to criticize Israel and uh foreign policy decisions. Of course they are. But when that slips into, and I'm afraid it's too easily slips into anti-semitism, for example, chanting uh slogans like from the river to the sea is uh Palestine will be free, which is a call to arms, which is calling for the erasia of Israel and of Jewish people from the from the map. uh globalize the inifardada. That's a call to arms chanting jihad. That's violence. That has then crossed the line into violence and unacceptable protest. That's when the police should have stepped in. But it also goes beyond the streets and public order. And I should just say we've seen on occasion hundreds and of thousands of people take to the streets behaving in this way with this with the police standing meekly by arresting after the event in a very um ineffective way. I it's just been a a very halfhearted response to those pro Palestinian marches because ultimately Samar Rowley and Sadi Khn don't want to upset certain communities in in London.

[00:06:58]But it goes beyond the streets of Britain. It also goes to the workplace.

[00:07:02]We've seen anti-semitism spill out of control in the work in the NHS, in schools, on campus, in universities, in the BBC, dare I say, and yet it all goes uh unsanctioned without any consequence.

[00:07:19]People shrug their shoulders, they condemn, they might say something critical, but no action is actually taken to remedy this crisis. Um, you're here today to talk to us about Reform UK's plans, your plans to prohibit foreign nationals from accessing UK student loans. So, can you outline that for us today? And can you also um talk about reforms plans for British people who have plan to student loans? We've been hearing so much about, haven't we, in the news recently. They're now going to be capped at 6%. But you will appreciate the 6% interest on 45 grand, 55 grand, up to 75 grand for British students who who've done um undergraduate and mast's degrees in this country. That's hundreds of pounds a month that they are repaying which is affecting their chances of going on to buy a home. What's going to be done about that?

[00:08:11]>> Yes, it's what I call and I I I I regret having to use this terminology, but it's the only way we can be honest with uh young people and people going through the system. the great university scam.

[00:08:22]Because what we are seeing is hundreds of thousands of our young people being funneled to mediocre universities to take up mediocre courses, waste three years of their lives, um sometimes attend lectures only twice a week and come out uh often with very low job prospects. We've got 700,000 graduates who are unemployed today. Uh 250,000 of them are on welfare. uh all with a price tag of about £50,000. It's just not worth it for many young people. And my advice to a lot of young people today uh if they're bright, if they're keen to get on and move forward with their lives is actually avoid the debt trap of university. Be smart about your choices.

[00:09:06]Take up an apprenticeship. Find a job when you're 18 and start earning, learning, and gaining a skill and moving on with your life. But part of that scam is fueled, I'm afraid, by the influx of international students that we've seen in recent years. And despite offering poor outcomes, many of these substandard universities are staying afloat thanks to the cash from international students.

[00:09:34]and hundreds of thousands about 300,000 foreign students last year took up a taxpayer funded student loan to fund their studies in the UK. Now, that's not right. It's not right that uh the British taxpayer is paying for foreign students to come and take up places in our universities to keep afloat uh poor performing uh universities. All the while British students are penalized in the system.

[00:10:05]>> Um we're just getting some breaking news in uh Sella Bravo and can I get your reaction to this? The government says it's going to invest a further 25 million into increased police patrols and protective security to keep Jewish communities safe. So that brings the total funding to 58 million pounds this year. So increased police presence and patrols in communities, proactive and protective security in synagogue, schools and community centers and specialist and plain clothes officers in the community as well. I mean this is welcome in a lot of respects, but it doesn't tackle the underlying problem, does it?

[00:10:43]>> Well, I think it's a damning indictment of the state of safety on our streets.

[00:10:48]Why is it that the Jewish community um integrated contributing to Britain in a very positive way has to live in fear that they have to live with patrols that they have to have security checks when they go to their synagogues or to their schools?

[00:11:07]Protecting the Jewish community is obviously welcome and it's a necessary step to take today, but it's not the solution to the long-term problem. The solution to the long-term problem is to stamp out extremism, anti-semitism, and Islamism from our streets. Sectarian politics has no place in Britain, and yet it's tolerated. Um the the anti-semitism and the racism in our institutions is tolerated. The hate marches are tolerated. Extremism from the IRGC is tolerated. The government could act today if it wanted to. And yet it's choosing to fail the Jewish community.
