Temperatures soaring to record levels across Colorado with highs in the 90s for the Denver metroAdded:
We are looking at record heat across the region today with high pressure just dominating both today and into tomorrow.
Things are going to be quite toasty.
We've already been hot this week and the heat is not letting up anytime soon as high pressure will continue to dominate our forecast. Today, it has the potential to bring us to record-breaking levels at the airport. Previous record is 90°. Today, the forecast high is 90.
We'll see more 90s across the Denver metro.
Lots of urban neighborhoods are likely to get into the 90s for today. Eastern Colorado will be in the low to mid 80s.
Down toward the south, we've got more upper 80s, low 90s. Mountains today, 70s and 80s and then the western slope also in the 90s. So, very hot across the board for today. We'll start the day with lots of sunshine, but by the afternoon starting to see more clouds move in. We also have a chance at some very scattered showers, a couple of storms possible for us here in the Denver area. Could bring some gusty winds this afternoon. Very similar going into tomorrow as well with a chance at some afternoon showers and storms across parts of Colorado. With the warm and the windy conditions we're anticipating today, we are looking at some high fire danger this afternoon for parts of western Colorado from 2:00 until 6:00 today. These red flag warnings will be in place. And then for tomorrow, we're just going to add to our coverage of red flag warning conditions. We have winds that will gust up to 40 mph and very low relative humidity possible the next couple of days. Also going to see some strong winds in eastern Colorado this afternoon.
As we uh look here in the Denver area, winds could gust around 20 mph. So, there will be some fire weather concern across the state, but those red flag warnings will remain out west for today and then going into tomorrow, more strong winds will take over. Tonight, 58° for an overnight low, winds gusting around 30 mph at times. And then by tomorrow, another hot day. We've got highs climbing into the mid to upper 80s, nearing that record again at the airport. The previous record is 87° for tomorrow. We'll have a mix of sun and clouds on your Thursday and it will be a little on the breezy side. As far as your statewide high temperatures, we've got more 90s out in out east. Yuma, 90.
Burlington, 89. Look at Lamar, 97° for a potential high tomorrow afternoon, quite hot. Temperatures here in the Denver area mid to upper 80s, 70s up in the high country. We do have fire weather watches in place for tomorrow, so the precursor to our red flag warnings as fire conditions will remain on the higher side going into Thursday. That humidity dropping as low as 15 9% excuse me with those winds gusting around 35 mph tomorrow. Looking ahead to Thursday and Friday, we stay very hot or excuse me Friday and Saturday, we stay very hot temperatures in the mid 80s there. Going into the weekend, a chance at some rain showers late Saturday afternoon and then also Sunday afternoon. And Sunday into Monday, we're tracking a big cool down.
We'll go from the 80s to the 60s with chances at rain that'll carry us into early next week, but enjoy the bitty cool down Monday and Tuesday because we're back in the 80s by Wednesday.
