As AI takes over code implementation tasks, cloud engineers must focus on higher-level thinking including system architecture design, understanding trade-offs, and problem-solving to help businesses, while still being able to review AI-generated work.

The Future of Cloud Engineering In The AI EraAdded:
A big thing that we will we'll start doing as engineers is as time goes on we will do a lot of thinking and problem solving whereas the implementation will be done by AI right so the actual writing of the code of the terform scripts all that stuff AI can do that way faster than us right so we have to be able to understand what's the architecture how we solving the problem how does that help the business right understand the trade-offs design the systems and then AI will do the implementation there's no doubt about that but we have to be able to review the work that AI is doing so like I was saying that I've said this a few times but when I was consulting I was essentially I was doing architecture basically and I was saying to my family and friends at the time that I get paid to think right so like what do you do well I get paid to think like they're like what does that mean well a client comes to me with business problem I have to think about how I'm going to solve their problem using technology right and as time goes on more and more of what we do is going to be like that they're going to come to you and say we got this bottleneck this issue these customers having these problems this is the system, right? And you have to figure out how you're going to solve it, right?
So, how are you going to solve it? What are trade-offs? What about database?
What type of data? Different data gets stored differently, right? How much compute do we need? What happens if this fails? All this kind of stuff we have to think about. Who's going to access this?
How long do we keep it for? All these kind of questions that we have to think about. So, the fact that you guys are allowing yourself to ask questions and wonder and all this stuff, that's totally fine. And that's actually really good thing
