Political leaders can face serious legal charges such as defeating the ends of justice and fraud when they interfere with criminal investigations, as demonstrated by Fadiel Adams, leader of the National Coloured Congress and MP, who appeared at Pinetown Magistrate's Court charged with meeting an accused person in the murder case of former ANC Youth League leader Sindiso Magaqa while that person was in custody.

Fadiel Adams to appear at the Pinetown Magistrate's CourtAdded:
Well, let's uh take you straight to KN.
National colored Congress leader and member of parliament Filil Adams has arrived at the Pinetown Magistrate's Court West of Durban in connection with those charges that he faces of defeating and or obstructing the ends of justice and fraud. Now, it's alleged that Adams interfered with the investigations into the murder of the former ANC youth league leader Cindiso Makatka when he met with an accused in that murder case.
Nua who had been in custody at the Westville Correctional Services. Now we cross to our reporter Ayandamongo who's been uh there at that facility since yesterday morning. Ayanda just keeping an eye on all of those developments but of course as we understand Fadil Adams has arrived and are we any clearer especially on the fraud charge that he faces along with obstructing the ends of justice?
A very good morning to you and good morning to our viewers. Yes, we are outside the Pinetown Magistrate Court.
Of course, since yesterday, we've been reporting that it is here that Fidel Adams would appear on those two charges of fraud and defeating the ends of justice. He arrived this morning just a short while ago under a heavy police presence. And just to show our viewers, just a second just to show our viewers uh what uh is happening outside. You can see there is uh more and more police officers that have started to arrive here. We've got members of the public order. Police of course as I was saying there that um Mr. Adams arriving here under heavy police guard accompanied by the members of the political killings team. They're of course investigating this particular case. there is going to be a strong police presence in and around the Pinetown Magistrate Court. I can also say Sakina that upon arrival of Mr. Adams, we also saw his family arrive, his wife uh who we were with and engaged with last night when we were at the Westville Police Station awaiting um his arrival accompanied by the leaders of the National um colored congress. And so today it's finally he gets his first appearance at this court and um just had a brief interaction with the leaders of the NCC Zakina and they still stand by what they've been saying that they believe that this is nothing uh but a witch hunt. Um and so they believe that um Mr. Adams is being targeted by the PKTT and by the um provincial commissioner of the police here in Gunotal and that is Lieutenant General Inuaz.
But of course um all that will be um deliberated in court um by his legal team and his defense team that was already at the Westville police station for most of the day yesterday. We did speak to a brigadier at Linda Mati who's the national spokesperson of the SAPS last night. Just to unpack uh uh the two charges, the defeating the ends of justice. We know that he interfered uh with the um police work or so the police say by engaging or meeting with an accused person in the case of Cindi Maka that being as busy. But um Brigadier Mate not willing to give us more details in terms of what the basis of the fraud charge will be saying that everything is then going to be unpacked today in the court by the state. So, of course, we will be following those proceedings, Sakina, that um should get underway around 9 or thereafter here at the Pinetown Magistrate Court. But his family, Saka, as of last night, they were still not happy and still this morning maintained that they're not happy with the manner in which Mr. Adams was arrested and that the police according to them were not transparent from transporting him from the Western Cape to Guazut. And the police of course have responded to say there was nothing out of the ordinary in terms of how they transported him and most of it was to ensure that he was safe. But 9:00 we will be in court as Fidel Adams appears before the Pinetown magistrate's court.
