Metal casting involves significant safety hazards including steam explosions and molten metal splatter, which can cause severe burns and injuries; always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with molten metal, and ensure proper mold design with adequate vents to release trapped air during the casting process.

I just finished a brass castingAdded:
into this video in the future.
I just got finished a brass casting. It didn't go great. Um I had a I had a steam explosion. I I think that's what it was. I think it was a steam explosion.
I'm not injured, so that's good. Um Uh there's a couple reasons that I think it may have happened. I'd have to re-look uh replay the footage to see cuz I think I hesitated.
I think I started pouring the brass and then I think I stopped and then continued pouring again. I think that's what I did.
I'm not really sure. I'd have to like I say said I have to replay the footage.
Um Both castings uh didn't really come out that great.
It's because I used a really small mold. There wasn't really much room. What up, Cindy?
The mold I used today it was just really small. Um I'll show you here.
I've done it before.
It just barely fit into this mold.
So I really think that was the problem.
It worked with aluminum very well, actually.
But for some reason the brass didn't work too great.
Um I I probably should have put a vent in.
I probably should have put a vent in like right here to release any of the air.
Uh but I didn't.
>> [clears throat] >> But again, I don't know what the problem was today.
Uh oh yeah, let me see the scraps. So this is These are the scraps of brass that exploded at me.
Look at it. Look at it all. This is all the brass that popped, guys. This all exploded. Luckily, I was wearing my personal protective equipment because if I wasn't I might have got hurt.
But I don't think anything hit me anyway.
But [clears throat] it's still scary, guys. Metal casting is definitely scary.
You need to wear your personal protective equipment. Uh what up, Silver Fox Castings? Good to see you, pal.
Yeah, I had a little bit of a a little bit of a pop or explosion coming out of the second cast.
Um you guys are going to wait for next week to see the video.
But yeah, it it wasn't wasn't the best.
But my So, I cast three things today.
The third one came out good. At least it looks like it came out good. I don't know yet until I fully clean it up, but I think that one came out good.
But uh these these ones I did with the green sand, the molds were just too small.
I definitely need to use a larger mold for next time I do this, cuz I want to make this again. Cuz I don't think the ones I did today are salvageable.
I don't I don't think so.
It was fun. It was fun.
Like I said, I'm safe, so nobody Nobody got injured. Um Like I said, I have all this this brass.
I actually really need to clean this up.
I'm going to remelt this again.
This is a This is actually quite a bit, guys. Oh, and also check this out. I melted my my vice. This is what I used to hold the hold the cast together. And you can see here there's a little there's a little sliver sliver of brass embedded into the plastic.
So, you could see it just hit here. It hit all over the place and started melting it.
I uh That is really in there.
That is That's really in there.
I'd have to get my my channel locks open up so I can try to see if I can remove it.
There we go.
You guys missed it, but I got it out.
Another piece. So, this is all good. I'm going to reuse these clamps. They're still good, actually.
There's another little piece of brass lodged in there.
I'll get that out later.
So, yeah, guys, brass casting or any metal casting is definitely dangerous.
So, always wear your personal protective equipment because you just never know when something bad is going to happen.
And if it hits you, you're going to get burned and severely injured.
So, always wear your personal protective equipment.
I'm definitely going to try it again, uh, Cindy, with a with a with a larger mold, one that has vents in it cuz again, this one I I had no vents.
And uh, I think that was part of the problem. I have to rewatch the video to see cuz I think I poured I stopped pouring and I poured again.
And uh, that possibly caused some sort of air pocket.
So, I I think that may have been what it was. I also made these molds yesterday.
So, they sat overnight and I left a glove over top of the mold, so it may have created some sort of moisture inside of the mold as well.
So, uh, that could have been a problem.
I don't I don't know.
What's up, Violet?
8579 So, guys, I want to show you something.
So, I I recently cleaned up my old car.
I want you guys to check it out.
I recently cleaned up my car.
Check it out.
Don't mind the oil slick underneath of the car.
This is my car. I just finally cleaned it up, guys. It's been sitting for years.
Haven't even touched it.
Thank you so much, Cindy. Let's go.
Let's go.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, just uh just started cleaning it up, guys. Like I said, this has been sitting probably for about 8 years. Haven't even driven it. Um I would probably say 8 years. Yeah, that's probably about the good the good timeline for it.
Um it's pretty clean. I did not vacuum the rug, but other than that, everything is everything is clean.
All the chrome, everything, the motor, everything's cleaned up. Looks great.
I just got to drive it. I haven't driven it in so long. I just have to drive this thing.
I just don't have the time. You know, work work work and work.
Work my 9:00 to 5:00, work my YouTube channel, work my other YouTube channel, and work my third YouTube channel.
I have a lot going on, guys. A lot going on. Making videos, recording videos, uh editing, voice-overs, everything. My videos it's just I'm I'm I'm constantly working, guys.
>> [clears throat and cough] >> Um but I do hope to get some time to to drive it this year. Since I just cleaned it up, I don't feel like cleaning it up and not driving it. So, I definitely should take it for a spin.
>> [clears throat] >> But guys, yeah, today's casting uh it was a it was a half casting. Half worked, half didn't.
>> [clears throat] >> But like I said, you guys have to wait till next week to see the video.
Thank you, Marcus. You, too. But guys, don't forget I just posted a video at 9:00 this morning.
That was like a half an hour ago. I don't even know what time it is.
But, guys, make sure to go check out my other video that I recently posted melting down some aluminum.
I'm sure it's great just as just as well as all my other videos, but don't forget to check that video out.
Later on, Violet.
Enjoy your day. Enjoy your day. It's a beautiful day over by me. I'm going to go outside and enjoy this day.
But, I have to do some video editing and some other stuff before I actually get to do that.
>> [clears throat] >> No, no, Cindy. I have I have so much more so much scrap metal here. I just keep collecting. I melt it, I get some more, I melt it, I get some more.
>> [laughter] >> Uh yeah, I also have I have a you know, uh a stack of ingots here, too.
I mean, it's not that It's not that much. It's not that much. I've seen I've seen many many other channels that have more ingots than me, but I don't care. I'm not in a competition with them.
Um [clears throat] but, I have so much. And, that's much easier to store. The the ingots are much easier to store than all the scrap metal that I have in my uh in my yard or around my yard or around my garage. I have so much.
When I see I'm like addicted to to to taking scrap off the side of the road.
When I see aluminum, I grab it, and I want it. Even though I don't melt it down yet. I'm probably going to have to um recycle [clears throat] some of this stuff in the future, and uh cash it in for some money because I have I'm going to end up having way too much.
The Twinkie ingots. Yeah, um they are actually they're actually not stacked up there.
Uh they actually might be in the back cuz I have it's like two layers. I think it's in the back some of it.
Emiliano, what's happening?
Damn.
Hmm.
>> [snorts] >> Well guys, like I said, I'm going to I'm going to get out of here. I just finished up the cast. I'll just show you Emiliano real quick. I did some green sand casting. Didn't work as well as I had hoped. Um, I had some explosion of molten brass happen. So, that's dangerous. Make sure to wear your personal protective equipment.
But, I'm good. Um, but like I said, I'm going to get out of here.
I'm glad you guys were able to stop by and just say hi.
Like I said, don't forget guys. I just posted a video less than an hour ago.
Check that video out. Make sure to comment on that video. Give it a thumbs up.
And I'll see you guys next week after my casting that I do next week.
All right guys. Catch you later.
