Storm chasers like Scott Peake use specialized equipment including high-framerate cameras, two-way radios, and Doppler radar to track severe weather systems, identifying key indicators such as rotation, convergence, and storm base characteristics to assess tornado potential. The best chance of severe weather occurs when storms develop organized supercells with strong updrafts, adequate moisture, and favorable wind shear, while outflow-dominant storms with 'whale's mouth' formations are less likely to produce tornadoes.

Yeah, if I have time to do it cuz driving and chatting are difficult sometimes.
>> Yeah, it's a sad sounding.
>> Oh, service tips.
>> What's lions only?
>> Uh, it's us. Uh, all the elite stormchasers.
>> Nice.
>> All I'm the oldest one in the group by far. Well, not by far, but I'm definitely the oldest, >> right? Yeah.
>> Probably about five years.
>> Yeah. Just rock and roll.
>> Well, I've been chasing for 25 years.
>> Do you want 30 FPS or 60 FPS? Like what what do you usually have this at?
>> I don't know. Just whatever it >> comes up as. Yeah.
>> I mean, what's better?
>> The pull up to the south or the one to the west. My goodness. 60 is a little smoother, but you're fine.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> I just have to watch out for my bit rate that I'm >> or my how much I'm pushing out cuz >> the structure on that thing is gorgeous.
>> I think I'm at 720.
>> Really is.
>> So, what makes you go to elite level status?
>> Pretty much >> stop being an idiot. I mean, just getting good stuff every time. Like, I'm consistent. I'm one of the one of only a handful of stormchasers that consistently gets like maybe out of five sometimes, but I'm definitely one of the main ones that gets the most consistent >> footage, >> like consistent in-your-face tornado videos every single time.
>> That's cool.
presentation.
>> That's what's holding me off from like going west on it is I'm just like like it looks really nice >> swimming right there.
>> Yeah. I don't know.
>> It looks like a less split of this one.
It's >> not the highest tornado tears me away from going. Right.
>> It's just But it's >> nonzero on this soft road trying to form a new mezo on the southern >> how big of the how much hail or how big was the hail that made those dents? It looks pretty substantial.
>> Golf balls.
>> Golf ball size. Yeah.
>> Yeah, >> that makes sense.
>> Yeah. And some quarters.
>> But mainly golf balls.
>> There you go.
>> Yeah, >> dude. I bet those things sound like so loud when they hit the >> It can be loud. Yeah, it's an aluminum hood, but everything else is metal.
>> But yeah, it has an aluminum hood cuz it's lighter.
>> Magnets definitely don't stick on it, but >> you tried.
>> Yeah. Oh, yeah.
>> Yeah.
Just passed uh the good old Mike, right?
Old state police.
Witchah police.
Yeah. Yeah.
Should probably turn my lights cuz I'm using my windshield wipers now. Yeah.
What iPhone is this? It's >> 15 uh Pro. Uh >> it's a step a little before they put that little slider thingy for your new You mean like the camera button whatever? Yeah. The button >> capture or whatever. But >> yeah, what what a >> Yeah, it's 15. Yeah.
>> Yeah. 15.
>> 15 Pro.
>> What I had? Yeah, it's a First Net phone. Nice.
>> So, I get I get Firstn Net on it, which is for first responders. Oh, nice.
That's cool. Yeah, it's really nice.
So, it's very nice.
>> I understand there being a lot of roads here, but for all of them, >> you'll have to put the seat back when the chase begins.
>> Okay.
>> Cuz the camera >> Oh, shoot. Never mind.
>> Oh, you're good. No, just letting you know you can put it you can lay back and hang out >> and just chill. But >> that >> just know that you'll have to put the seat back the way it is.
>> Yeah, >> we're about to go on my phone, but I don't know if it is.
>> I don't see anything new on my end yet.
Anyway, >> bro, it's not sending yet.
>> That's really weird. It just says till 5:15 Mountain time. Well, I don't think there was ever a tornado warning for this county. So, why would I be getting it? That's weird.
>> They're getting a warning over in Colorado for some reason until 5:15.
>> If he has Starlink, >> weird connected Starlink. Yeah. Then that means he's getting the warning from Colorado. That's why he's getting the >> That's why he's getting the warning even though he's in Kansas.
Oh, no. I'm sorry, Nebraska.
So, no, I'm sorry, Nebraska.
>> Well, this thing's definitely developing some good service feeder vans.
>> Yeah. Andrew Clark says, "Hey guys, watch out for Johnny Law."
>> I ain't worried.
>> Yeah. Andrew Clark says >> just watch out for the audio because you get feedback on that.
>> Yeah.
>> I wonder if it just needs to move.
>> Keep moving north and have better better moisture because I know there's better moisture sitting up there where the pan starts.
>> Oh yeah, >> without a doubt. I mean, this thing's already been doing it being pretty spicy, even with lacking moisture. So, don't worry.
And with a little fertility and freaking less, >> if you want to answer any questions, decent speed here and stretching. I mean, the second this thing gets in the adequate moisture, it should should pipe.
There's these roads.
Yeah, I need a new iPhone.
This thing just freaks out. Doesn't have enough space.
>> Yeah, Paul's asking, "Are you using a two-way radio or app for communication?"
>> It's a two-way radio that all the uh like Freddy McKini, Bran Hopic, >> Jaden Pepham, and I all have. There's multiple guys in the group, >> but yeah, they're all we're all using the same radios.
>> They could be in different states or even different countries. We can still communicate with each other, >> especially if Starink can link to it >> and then it'll be smooth. Looks really cool. It is nice.
>> Literally hit my window button to get it to start rolling up.
The pothole I hit was so hard that it rolled the window back down.
>> Jeez.
>> Yeah. Right there.
15. Now, >> the way I'm looking, at least like the road I'm on to the east and then west again. So, we shall see closer to this east west highway up by Imperial and Creek. Even the even the dirt roads are better.
>> Now, good enough, sir.
Nice little hug feature on this storm on the last brief activity scan here.
>> We're in Witchaw, Kansas. We're not up in Nebraska, but um >> I missed the right.
That's copic.
>> That's copic. Yeah. Brandon Copic. Yeah.
on the red man's wall.
>> I'm about to turn right up here towards Champion.
>> That's right, man.
>> There you go.
>> Yeah, it looks like you're about to stroke. The area of interest should be virtually right next to me. I have noticed some rotation though, like weak.
Definitely not strong.
>> There's a base back. There's another base, right? What do you call these clouds up here forming on the horizon?
>> Oh, just Kumos clouds up there above the road. Yeah, cumos clouds. But there's banding. See how these flat clouds that are linear >> and they're streaming in?
>> That's inflow bands.
>> And then those clouds can mark inflow as well, but they're you see everything's kind of pointing right into here, >> right?
>> Not rain right now. They're only driving through a field.
>> So everything's streaming in over here.
>> Yeah. news.
>> It was some cheap gladiator of white just straight up driving through a field.
I mean, I I guess I I guess whatever they want to do, I guess. I don't know.
>> It's a car. There's a gladiator driving in that field.
>> I've thought about doing that doing that before. has been tempting.
[clears throat] >> Oh my god, the sheriff's in front of me.
>> Yeah, for search and rescue. Nice.
>> Yeah.
>> Like, what the heck is going on right now?
>> People be driving fast.
>> They do.
Oh, thank you Christina and Callie for the donation. Good. Glad to see you on here again.
>> I I stream now. It's really close.
>> I don't see any areas of well-defined rotation, but there's definitely a cut over here.
>> See option does become paved not far east.
>> Yeah, we're on a severe severe thunderstorm warning right now.
How did you get up there?
>> Oh, wait. You're behind me now. Okay.
>> I went west of Yeah, I dropped it behind you. I'm at the base of the west. This is so looking so interesting. It's got a little under there, huh?
>> Yeah, that's the best looking base on this cluster. I mean, this this east one is really just kind of withered away. So I think uh right now >> towards Imperial and just see what happens. Maybe try to hedge that east south.
>> Yeah. I also worry and I know the moisture is better. I also worry like the south west now on the Colorado side.
I'm just worried as they merge together silly Colorado business that happens and I don't want to miss that either.
Yep. I'm also keeping an eye on that, too. Once I get to six, I'm just going to make my decision.
The one thing I don't like about the east though, now that I'm looking at a little bit closer, it looks like it's kind of removed from the boundary. It's like further north.
>> It's become isolated. It's kind of become all by itself. It's >> still a cluster presentation in the world right now.
>> It's isolating itself.
Yeah, I'm looking at it a little bit closer and I feel like it it may have down trend a little bit.
>> Yeah, I'm just hoping what cell that we're on right now gets itself organized.
>> Great Freddy. I don't know if I love the look of any of these at the current moment.
Echo tops are really struggling.
There's like two that have been fighting here for a while. Let's see what my tops are on this. So, yeah, it's not bad. It's uh tops are at 50 uh 50,000 ft.
Nice.
>> So, there's actually multiple tops, but it's trying to get organized.
>> Yeah, it's just a multi-ell cluster at the moment. Right. So, >> I do like the hook trying to form on radar, though.
>> They're in Nebraska. Talking about the Nebraska cell.
Uh, I believe that's the Nebraska cell.
Oh, someone reported a from a cloud.
Yeah, jeez. No kidding about the tops on these things. It's struggling to hit 40 now.
>> Storms are struggling.
>> We had it blow up so quickly. And it's it's just so odd to see that.
Yeah, I'm just I'm just very not impressed with the with the base of the cell we're all on now. The one to the west though, man.
The western base looks solid.
Okay. Okay. But we do have a merger on the east side of the storm.
gas while I was saying I got a little burger.
Yeah, I'm gonna sit here for a second and watch this just briefly.
Well, I definitely The area of interest is literally right out my left window right now.
Bunch of deer run across the road.
Oh, got a little deer.
Little deer. Oh dear. No, they're talking on the radio about the deer.
>> Looks like it's got some good inflow feeding into the base and everything. It just I don't know.
>> They were talking about the deer on the radio. Gotcha. Some deer ran across the road in front of >> It's very strange. All of it.
It's got that kind of beautiful seahorse look to it.
We all love seahorse boats.
Oddly enough, it really does have that seahorse look to it.
All right, I'm going to keep going north here a little bit more and maybe go east a bit.
The only thing I'm liking right now, so I haven't been liking that that storm over by Cory or that Cory's on has been moving northwest. That's been my big like factor I don't like about it that's completely held held me on from even thinking about going towards it. But now it looks like it's about to have a northeast lor slam into it. So I'm curious if that's going to change the storm's direction.
Got a solid area rotation now.
There's a northeast mover going into that store over there by knee center.
There's another updraft that either exploded on the west side or something, but it's moving northeast while the main updraft's moving northwest. And I think that might either change its path or at least slow it down.
>> And I got it. I got you. I was looking at the storm. I didn't see it. I'm like, >> what storm is going northeast?
>> They're both pretty much together right now.
>> But there's another there's a lowering right there.
I don't know what to do.
Uh, is that a thing? I got to figure this out.
It's getting to uh Oh, mosquitoes.
>> Yeah, can't stand them. Yeah. I live on the 21st floor and past the fifth floor there's no mosquitoes.
>> Hey, that's nice. Yeah.
>> Yeah. They don't go that high.
>> No, they don't.
>> So, you're up too high.
>> Oh, yeah. It's awesome.
>> Oh, Kingman.
Let's see.
>> We're losing our seahorse.
I think we're we're losing Yeah, we're losing it all together.
I was going to say I think we're losing the whole thing here.
>> Yeah, there's storms falling apart.
>> Yeah, that's annoying.
>> Yeah.
Can you figure out what's clicking back there? I think it's my my uh it's that plastic bottle. If you just throw it on the other side. Oh, thank you. Appreciate it.
of course they're working on this bridge. Of course, everybody get past that. Let >> me make sure no one's coming. [laughter] Safety first.
Rural Water District 2.
Fun times.
Tiny little water tower.
The water tower is insulted.
[laughter] Just kidding.
Oh, there's chickens. Oh, nice little egg cart.
>> Yeah, it's funny. You see chickens?
You ever like saw any animals get caught out in a tornado before?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> I've seen cows running through a tornado. [snorts] It was weak, but it's like I don't want to be that >> Yeah.
>> cow >> and get pelted with little bits of sand and dust.
>> Yeah.
>> What's the >> We're going to go east and start heading after that cell. You know, the east one.
It's got a pretty good base on it.
>> We've already begun.
>> I was just done with my chat. I'm on my way as well.
back to Mundo.
>> We still don't like We got to watch see how it evolves over over time. We still don't like that it's moving north like north and west. But if if we have to choose between that and this, I'd choose that over this.
Kind of has that uh look to it. Uh >> now it's blowing up down there. days when it was back towards uh Jamestown or like before it looks like >> which uh yeah uh >> you trying to trying to stress me out Cory I'm 55 minutes away wouldn't be stressed out I kind of like that supercell up northwest of Ogalala right now that thing's looking pretty nice and then talking about that one for 20 minutes. I I just don't know if reasonably I could get there to get there in time, but I can get to the other one quicker.
It's the best looking storm right now.
So, if one's to the north I was talking about earlier, we get looking all this crap around the top here.
The struggle is real.
>> Wild is the ones to the north, the updraft cluster that came out of was way less robust than ours to the south fired. It just was funky.
I wonder if those got a favorable merger and that's that's why.
See you going east. comics.
>> Thought did I pass you?
How about that dirt road? Oh my. There's a photo to the west on that western one.
>> Well, there's our cell or there's one part of our cell.
>> Yeah, >> it's got a little got a little scud or like a shelf cloud look to it.
>> There's a skinny thick funnel.
>> Shelfie cloud.
Take a selfie with the shelfie.
[laughter] Interesting.
>> Mitch said, "I hope you're doing well."
>> I think everybody at this point is about to just start bailing for the eastern cell.
>> I have a feeling you're right, Cory. Enjoy the peacefulness while it lasts.
The party is coming.
Got read here. There's only been like 10 chasers top I've seen so far.
>> There's barely anyone on these storms.
>> I I'm genuinely shocked at the little amount of people out and about.
>> Yeah, I think we've been pretty good there. There's not as many people out, but if you look on the spotter network, there is quite there's still a decent number of green dots. Some some are being are going west into Colorado.
Dude, this thing is getting sculpted.
>> See, you won't hear me complaining that people [clears throat] are uh spreading out.
>> Latest severe warning on your storm, Cory. He has it moving more northerly.
So, I like that a lot better.
Yeah, you zoom out. lower case center is really not that far away, but it's kind of a dumb way to have to get there, but that's the case everywhere out here.
>> Yep. Yeah, that's I was looking for any other options and yeah, I think Haz Center is the the best start going north. That'll be perfect cuz it's about be lined up with this road.
>> Well, I mean, if it starts going north, that'll be better for easterly surface winds, too.
That surface winds really really ramped up like in the last 10 minutes.
Yeah, storm way north by Arthur definitely looks the best, but the area it's moving into is yikes chasing.
>> Yeah.
>> Does one doubt the sand hills?
>> I doubt getting a view.
This thing's got a cute shelf cloud, but that's about >> going into the Crescent Lake National Wildlife Refuge.
>> Looks like a good track right up 61 though to you could at least get it on that road.
It's almost like something has happened up there before.
This thing is getting gorgeous.
Does our dead storm look like it's just one mean beastly base?
Like you're not here of course, but like you look north and it's like, "Oh, there's something up there." No.
Well, I was about to turn north on the road and then it's like dead end. Oh, I guess not.
>> Somehow the echo chaps on this guy jump back up to 51k.
>> I just got >> Drew, how are you, man? Thanks for the donation. Good to see you on the chat.
Hey, Drew went on on a tour with us when I was doing the storm season tour.
>> Nice.
>> Um, a private one. Um, got three tornadoes in two days.
>> Dude, that's incredible.
>> Yeah.
>> They've never seen before. It was awesome.
>> Yeah. What a great tour.
>> Oh, yeah. So, I'm like to grow it as well.
>> Um, for extra income, you know, just like >> Oh, yeah.
>> I jumped out in front of all y'all again. So, I'll just let you know if the driver >> Where's Drew from? Uh Connecticut.
>> Connecticut. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Not too many tornadoes up there.
>> No. No. Yeah. That's why uh they came down here.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh my my grandma's from Connecticut.
>> When she talks to me, she's like, "How do you guys sleep at night with [laughter] tornadoes?" I was like, "Just I don't know. You just do.
>> You just do. Pay attention. Just make sure you're paying attention to the weather."
>> Yeah. I grew up here, so I just don't you know, don't think about it anymore.
Hey, I found a paved road.
>> You sure that's all?
>> Yeah. Uh, who got who got pulled over in Kansas again a couple months ago? I can't remember who that was.
>> Who was behind me going even faster?
>> No, I wasn't there. I just heard about it.
All the dust getting sucked up into the base off to our north.
>> Happen is we'll all leave this storm and then this storm will do it and then we won't be here for it.
>> Okay.
It's a nice soad.
>> How many? Uh, I've replaced one windshield this season, but one side window.
Uh, one side window. That was uh what, two months ago or a month and a half ago?
Yeah.
uh reflectivity.
>> By the way, that video from Nebraska, >> the Saint Library >> tornado video is going to go V. It's going to hit a million views.
>> That way I can stay on this one. The eastern one's also moving north. So, I think that actually is probably the safer bet to stay north on this and then you and then I can go east to Wallace if it still looks like poop.
Once you get on this north side highway, if you look east, you can see the face of that hay center cell.
Someone's windshield wipers >> right now.
>> You can hear their windshield wipers.
>> See your I see the face of your storm, Cory.
>> Oh, >> everybody's going north on that storm, but I'm not interested.
>> He's got MD locally higher tornado potential on this one on the alpha boundary.
>> Mhm.
>> And this one up there on that boundary up there. Nice.
>> See that boundary that I was pointing out to you? Yes. And it's connecting right into this storm.
>> You were just telling me about that eastern one. I feel like if I just go east now.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> So the MD says >> it just doesn't look good though to me.
Uh summary, severe threat will likely increase across central Kansas the next couple hours. Thunderstorms migrate into a corridor of extreme buoyancy.
Discussion two clusters of multi-ells embedded with supercells have merged from south of Hayes, Kansas to the west of Witchaw, Kansas area. The regional velocity imagery shows the early development in the mid-level mezocyces with few with few uh these cells hinting that deep deeper layer shear is likely adequate for supercells.
Nearby VWP observations from KICT which is Witchaw have sampled 0 to6 kilometer uh BWD values near 35 knots which is actually not bad which are stronger than estimated by the recent RAP meo analysis.
Additionally, it means the shear is stronger than it was forecasted. Uh these VW VWP observations are depicting 0 to3 kilometer storm relativeity on the order of 300 me square per second squared to the north of the subtle alpha boundary which will further support potential for supercells and perhaps a locally higher tornado threat over the next few hours as convection begins to interact with the boundary.
Similarly, a subtle alpha boundary is noted further north downstream of a cluster of storms near Hayes, Kansas as well. Enhance a little vorticity.
So, it's my spot uh in proximity with north of this boundary may promote better storm organization and locally uh localized tornado threat. However, any tornado potential will be conditional on maintaining at least semidiscreet storm modes. Based on recent radar trends, it may it remains to be seen whether these clusters will become primarily outflow dominant which will likely diminish the tornado potential. Whether or not convection will increase or become outflow dominant should become apparent next couple hours regardless. Both clusters are migrating to into a regionally buoyancy maximum where mixed layer cate values are estimated to be 4,000 jewels per kilogram. This will promote further intensification of ongoing confection, especially in potential for severe wind gusts.
>> Yep.
>> So, we'll see.
>> Nice.
>> That's pretty cool.
>> Yeah, they're pretty, but not what I want.
>> Right.
This is just becoming a poo poo platter.
>> Yeah.
I don't know what those are doing, but Yeah, tornadoes are definitely rare in Michigan.
Yeah, we were just talking about that on the chat. Oh, yeah. Um, everything's turning into a poop.
It's way up there.
Sounds like a bogus report.
What are we doing here?
>> It's just a poo poo platter. Wait for me then.
>> Coming. So over to pop it tires.
>> Oh, it flipped the trailer. Yikes. Yeah, not ideal. Yeah, that's not good. That was a couple years back. That's what he said.
That has a lot of motion above me and I wouldn't be surprised if it tries to drop a spook. But for a legit tornado, that's kind of bad.
[snorts] There's a new super soap trying to get going to the east of that one now.
That'll probably be the one that does it.
>> So, what do you want to see on here for >> I want to see a storm take over and just uh become isolated.
>> There's too much clustering going on at the moment.
>> Yeah, >> there's a little boundary. There's a convergence boundary. You kind of see that thin line, >> right?
>> It's convergence boundary going right into that cell.
>> Interesting.
>> Very interesting.
I don't know. I'm going to go for >> pull up my uh stream real quick and look at the updraft on that one just to the east. I think is a nuke.
>> If this storm did our west, Jaden wasn't uh so high at base. So, I think he could uh do something here. I guess change.
>> Oh, wow. Cory, holy crap, that looks incredible.
>> And so, the storm's way off in the distance.
>> We just all need to get to Interstate 80 and just pick a storm.
You just go poke them down the line as they move.
>> Let's see. Cuz this stuff isn't going to do anything. It's just muddying in the water.
>> This thing actually looks kind of neat up underneath it. Uh but in front of me, so >> pretty whale's mouth. I don't like that.
>> Yeah, this is a whale's mouth.
>> Okay. Seen a tornado here underneath the whale's mouth. If >> you look at the underside of a well's mouth. You can see how it just it's curved and >> right it's that's what it's doing. It's it's arched up underneath the >> Right.
>> You look so cool like those and everything, but I just >> You should sell a course teaching people lingo and everything. So when you're >> Well, they do they have they have spotter training classes at school.
>> They do teach you the lingo.
Yeah, >> kind of see.
>> It's kind of fun.
>> Yeah, >> those guys over there looking promising.
>> Yeah, those are better bases. I just don't know how high base they are. They could be really high base, >> right? Cuz your temperature and your D points are so spread apart.
>> Yeah, ideally for you need to be a little lower, >> right?
this one.
>> Batteries another one down in the south.
This thing looks so gorgeous up underneath that eye. It looks wow.
That just hue as well. Really looks nice.
Well, that was fun while it lasted.
We'll see. We'll see what happens.
We haven't lost all our daylight yet, but yeah, this is junk now. This is >> Yeah, it's not what we want. You can see the outflow pushing out.
>> Yeah, >> but this guy back here, very interesting.
Very interesting.
>> Right.
That clicking is turning. Oh, what? At least the bag.
>> Perfect. Oh, it might have been the video camera.
Sweet.
We don't want the eastern side.
on his hand. There's like three different missiles on it.
>> Yeah. She's trying to curl up into feeder and everything right now. She's trying the girls heads.
>> Oh yeah, there's a little base over there. get over there when I can, but I got a stick on me. So, >> so I can go up to it and poke it and say, "Come on, do something."
>> Somebody is doing about 45 here holding the whole line up.
>> Oh, chaser traffic already on their storm.
>> Yeah, they're in Nebraska, right?
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. What part? Like Southwest.
>> Southwest Nebraska. Okay.
>> Near the Colorado guy with Arizona tags.
>> Going really slow under the speed limit.
holding up all the stormchasers.
It's lame.
>> That's you behind us.
>> That's me.
>> He's not from Arizona.
>> It's funny.
>> He froze.
>> How many other people drive rainbows?
>> I was going to say there's only one rainbow car out there.
>> Oh, that's given the light.
>> That's comic. The car just looks black >> with the rainbow car.
>> Looks like a radar unit. It's a radar.
>> Oh, really?
>> Yeah. It's got rainbow colors on it.
>> Who's the guys that drive the tank around?
>> Uh, the Dominator.
>> Yeah, >> that's Reed.
>> That's Reed.
>> Excuse me. That cell didn't go to war.
It went destructive.
>> Yeah, he's >> I don't know why it cracks me every time I see that in a video of anybody on online. I just see that thing rolling around. It's just >> Oh, yeah.
>> So funny looking.
>> It should be fixed. The diesel blew on it.
>> Oh, really?
>> Yeah.
>> I think it should be done by now. The thing's got to be like what?
>> 10,000 lb.
>> It's It's got to be really heavy.
>> It's like 9 or 8 miles to the gallon.
>> Really? Diesel, but still.
>> Yeah. What's it What's it built on? Like a >> It's on a Chevro Oh, I'm sorry. Ford F >> 350.
>> Yeah. 350 >> chassis. Yeah.
>> Diesel.
>> Yeah. Yeah, >> this uh this whale's mouth up here is going to get me to leave this storm pretty quick.
>> Got multiple areas of wheels out on going.
>> Gross.
Yeah.
>> If you look behind you, that's that's at no other way. That's the outflow.
>> Oh yeah.
>> So a storm when a storm gets a whale's mouth look to it or shelf cloud means it's outflow dominant. Or at least that part is >> right.
>> So >> yeah, it's no good.
>> Nope. Not good for ners or anything related to tornadoes. What is this thing? Okay, now that's taken over.
Okay. All right.
>> Mom, come pick me up. I'm scared.
[laughter] Skies are crystal clear blue south of these storms.
>> I got you. Copy. I'll come get you.
>> It's just Scott on the rocks. [laughter] >> Oh, not bad. I just been listening to you guys for a couple hours, so I didn't want to interrupt, but good luck today.
>> Are you Where are you sitting in your car?
Yeah, I'm in Witchaw heading on the west side of Witchaw, Kansas on the tail end stuff of this stuff down here.
>> Oh, nice. Okay, I thought I didn't know if you were chasing since I was like you were listen I thought you were you said you were in your car. I was like is he sitting in his driveway like like not wanting to say anything?
>> Yeah, Scott, I'm heading west out to uh De Mo tonight.
Ah, fair enough. Uh, yeah, I'm probably going to head out that direction for not tomorrow, but the next day's chase because it looks like I'm in the same area.
So, all these new storms popping. I say maybe an hour or two tops left of tornado potential.
is over already.
>> I've got another 21 miles of dirt.
>> Dirt?
Yeah, he's on a He's on a road that is not paved. There's a lot of not paved roads out there that are just dirt and they they last a long time. That's the only roads you can take because there's no no other >> there are some road right now. I don't know if they're baseballs yet, but they're junkies.
>> No other roads around. Yeah. Remember that up in Nebraska baseball?
>> Yep.
Would you say it's the best quality road out in the middle of nowhere? Like pave Nebraska has some >> has some pretty good roads.
>> Yeah, they're high quality p uh dirt roads.
>> But there's some uh nipples in here.
>> We do see drive-in movie theaters. Um >> Oh yeah, really nipples now. That's pretty awesome.
>> Uh they're mainly open during the weekends. Um, but yeah, I've passed a few uh here in the plains.
He's asking.
>> Yeah, I think there's one in Guthrie.
>> Oh, there is one in Guthri, Oklahoma.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah, that's right.
>> I feel like they threaten to shut down like every single year, but I don't know if they're still open or not.
>> They're like, "We're losing money. We don't have enough money." And they like act like they're going to shut down and they're like, "Oh, psych."
>> Yeah, ex like every year I feel like.
>> Right.
I see you, state trooper. You're not that sneaky.
>> Done.
>> Someone else report it. Report it.
>> Yep. Apparently, I can't help baseball on their own.
>> They think they're so sneaky.
>> Yeah.
>> He's like, "Nope, nope."
>> Yeah.
>> Not today.
>> Always love the small town cops hide behind some trees or something.
>> Yeah. Like >> that's funny.
>> Trying to meet their quota.
>> Yeah. for the week.
>> But we don't have quotas.
>> Yeah. [laughter] >> Right.
>> I feel like they have they have to have personal quotas, you know.
>> Yeah.
>> Like Yeah. It's been a while. I got to got to do something.
>> Exactly.
>> I feel like the really small town cops probably get bored after a while.
>> Oh, they get super bored. Oh, yeah.
>> I mean, you know, a lot going on.
>> Yeah.
Bad for them.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Look at all these towers going up.
>> I would say we're getting this severe thunderstorm here.
>> It's cool.
If not, we'll go home, chill out on Sunday, and then head up to Sunday afternoon, we'll head up to uh Colorado, Eastern Colorado, Nebraska. Pretty much almost pretty much northwest Kansas near Goodland if you're if you're up for it.
>> Oh, yeah. We'll figure it out.
>> Oh, yeah. I see a wall cloud over there.
>> Yeah.
>> On the north side of that.
>> Yep. Uh, I just lost it.
There it is.
>> Yep. See it?
Lowest thing to the ground.
Head up that way.
Yeah, it's just turning into a cluster way up there in Nebraska. It's just Yeah, just kind of meh.
I just didn't feel like it was worth it at the time. Like I just didn't feel like I mean Nebraska is so far up there.
>> I mean it's not bad. I don't mind doing the drive. It's there's rotation now >> where we're at.
>> No. Uh where the storm are going to >> nice.
>> That's this part.
>> Oh, nice. Okay.
>> See the hooks starting to >> Yep. I see it.
>> Uh we're heading that direction.
>> Thank you.
>> That was that lowering you saw. going to be our base down to the south and east.
>> But they're starting to get else >> starting to get a little bit of rotation now.
>> Yeah, >> I see it.
>> Kellogg 400 about our storm routes crawling up and getting more mass and it's acting more like a tail on Charlie.
But this uh the whale's mouth doesn't make it like >> Yeah, it's starting to get rotation now.
>> I like the shape of it. I just don't know.
We're about to blast west. So when you evaluate a storm before you go out to a location than the one that >> do your like predictions kind of line up what you usually see when it comes down to like tornadoes specifically or is it kind of like I'm assuming you probably have an idea a little bit of since you've been doing it so long.
>> It depends on what the models are. Are you asking me compared to what the models are saying?
>> Right.
>> Yeah. Sometimes it can be way off.
Sometimes it can be pretty darn accurate.
>> Today they're pretty they're pretty accurate. It's it's very close to now they might be off by county or like they may be 50 maybe 100 miles off but >> right >> it so cuz yeah sometimes the models can be off on location but they're right on um >> there it is uh right on what what the it's showing for that time period.
Sometimes it gonna be off by timing, >> but they're right on everything else on location, but it just there's there's those factors that you know, >> right?
>> You're not gonna get a perfect prediction every time.
>> Yeah. But most of the time it it doesn't it does all right. You know, there are starting to get it's not rotation. It's more convergence, but that's that's a sign that it's starting to get organized. It's becoming a supercell, >> right?
>> So, well, or it's just rotate. It's getting organized.
>> Yeah.
And we're >> over here. We're going west towards it.
So >> good.
>> I mean, you can see it.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> You can see it over there.
>> You see the wall cloud and stuff?
>> Yeah. It's kind of behind that those trees.
>> Yeah. Why am I blurry? There we go.
>> It's a little bit far away to really zoom in on it at the moment, but >> yeah.
>> Oh, yeah. There you go. Now it got even greener.
That's convergence.
>> Okay.
>> And you see the red is inflow at least in this.
>> Yeah, there's there's got a little uh >> Yeah, it's right where it should be.
Sweet. So, that looks kind of decent.
>> Wall fleet. There a star blowing up right on top of Wall Street fleet. I >> might Yeah, that's looking more like a supercell. Yeah, >> better not be digging.
>> The models did say there would be a tail in storm.
>> It'll be, you know, back over. It's a little off. It said to be over Waw, which is not. It's actually west of there, but that's fine.
>> Sure.
>> I'm not going to complain. I figured it out.
>> Are you going to complain to me?
>> Yeah.
>> There's the Doppler radar I'm using right now.
>> Oh, that's cool. The little ball >> right there to our south. That's it right there. K I T >> is a cooler name.
>> I disagree. I think Dickens is a cooler name.
>> Charles, not sure what's going on here.
>> Charlie, I know you can hear me. I'm calling you Charles Dickens for now.
[laughter] Yeah, guys, there's just a land spout uh west of LC on the leading edge of this like outflowy thing. This turbulent outflow.
>> There's your wall mud. There it is right there. Yep. It's unorganized, but it's there.
>> Copy. Thank you.
>> That's right. East of Imperial.
>> Yeah. Uh just south of Madrid.
like it was probably about 2 or 3 minutes or so.
>> And Charles is very confused right now.
>> Forgot these have lights. Stop it.
>> Not a fan.
>> Yeah, that's not fun.
>> No, not at all. just gets me so much right now, rigs, cuz I'm literally coming to the trend right now.
>> It It's out of the way now. But like this like whales mouthy looking thing that's like not full-on outflow, but whatever it is, it came out of that on the very southern tip of it.
>> Have you seen those guys that put the traffic light changers?
>> The what?
>> Traffic Clay changers on >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh or the uh >> it was like a full laminer dust column all the way up.
>> The uh um what do you call those ones that change the blinky lights on the towers?
>> Yeah. Um Oh, I'm trying to think.
>> Yeah, radio tower.
>> Yeah.
>> Um light blinking technicians, whatever.
>> Yeah, >> this is getting a little more uh little bit more organized.
>> Yeah.
56° in Madrid does not feel good.
>> That sounds chilly.
>> Yeah, there it is.
>> I don't know, guys. I think possibly that well fleet sell if if that can remain discreet. That one's >> blowing up. It's now well over 50 or just over 50k. I think uh that front might uh might be our our best option there. [clears throat] >> Yeah, I can see that here. It's not >> it's not hooking hooking, but it's right to do it.
>> I think it caught the boundary.
>> I think that you know the alpha boundary that was left from over uh these storms way over here. They had it finally caught the boundary >> cuz it's starting to rain.
>> It's got a little It's got a notch. We call that a notch.
>> There is a chaser on it. Who is that?
Lane.
Uh Pierman. Well, I've never >> This mouth has been >> He might just spotter, but >> whale's mouth because obvious reasons, but this has been quite the show.
>> We are heading in that direction. Too bad that we have this whale's mouth out here because that storm that blew up behind us doesn't have a terrible shape to it.
>> It just uh >> Yeah, it can't. No, no, no inflow.
>> Just interesting because it's not behaving like like surging outflow. I don't I mean I know it's a whales mount.
I just don't know like what it is exactly.
>> I mean look out your guys' right window or left window, excuse me, Ben and Garrett. Like look at that featured doom >> Ben and Garrett >> Stormrunner Media.
>> Yeah, I was just noticing that right before you.
>> It's got surging inflow into it by the looks of it. And if you look at the clouds, the motion of the cloud is feeding into it.
>> Got two hours and 15 minutes before >> the sun sets >> rotating at least time. It's interesting. That's the most I think I've seen today.
Gabe is my ride along.
>> I'll give it that much. And looking at these low, >> we've got a wall caught in front of us.
>> I'm like, okay, >> got convergence.
>> Some winding up there.
>> Yeah, they just reworn this. Did they reworn severe warn it? They did not. But it's got lots of convergence.
Oh, I would have kept the warning on it.
a severe warning. But >> yeah, >> there's What's that? What's going on there?
>> Yeah.
>> Wait, you're like right.
>> Well, if it's doing something, we'd be able to see it, but >> Yeah.
>> Yeah. We were ahead of you, but we >> That is a nice little notch.
>> We're going to go north out of uh we'll see where it is.
>> I don't think that's in the right place.
No. is not in the right well it's in the right area but it's not >> definitely interested in that feature on our north that's very intriguing >> going to get close to the wall cloud west of Witchah Kansas here it's got uh convergence not necessarily rotation but it's got a lot of convergence happening >> um on the um on radar. So, we're going to head west to uh the cell here. Chat.
We're almost to Gddard and it's going to be west of Cheney by about >> 10 miles west southwest of Cheney is where this rotation is >> or convergence.
>> It's reaching a little bit. It must have caught the boundary cuz it's starting to re it's reaching for the boundary I think.
>> Nice. So, I think that's what's happening here.
>> My gosh. And the explosive tower.
>> That'd be great because this is the secondary target.
>> So, we should let me have we have full view of it if it does.
>> Right. Yeah.
>> So, so we're heading west now. It's got to be awful.
>> There is there is a lowering on this stuff. Uh >> west of >> Cheney.
There's decent lowering actually.
>> Yeah, it's not bad.
>> Maybe that's just >> Oh, beautiful lightning.
>> Yeah.
It's definitely >> Yeah. I mean, at this rate, honestly, I think the only real shot it's going to be that Wells lead cell, at least in my opinion. I could be completely wrong, though. I like the way this one behind us looks, but I don't know. Everything is starting to cluster up and the only thing that hasn't yet is that well, I agree. And yeah, we'll see. I guess >> that uh Holly Oak storm is probably about to do something really dumb with all the favorable mergers. They just re tornado warned it and it's now stationary with a bunch of to it.
>> By the time we got to it, it'd be almost dark. So that's annoying.
>> I think so.
>> I agree. Yeah, the northeasterly surface is Colorado. Probably going to do some foggy.
Yeah, we were tempted a blast after convergence. You got a yingyang looking things.
>> Yeah, >> you've got a lot of Yeah, it's rotating a little bit. So, it's >> Colorado.
>> That's That's a nice uh >> notch, right?
>> So, that's We're looking right down the throat of it right now. So, >> it looked pretty pretty bad when we all left it. There was vortex up our eastern. And that's the notch in a little bit more so they can see the posting.
>> Yeah. Colorado.
>> What' you say, Red Van?
>> I just said it's always tempting to play Colorado.
There's a little bit of rotation there.
Yeah.
Look at those towers off to the east.
That looks so gorgeous.
>> I don't know. It's pretty cool seeing the horseshoe vortex in front of us.
>> Not highly organized, but >> yeah.
Still there.
>> I see that little guy.
>> Better than a cluster.
>> Way better than a cluster. I'll take that over a cluster of storms that aren't doing anything.
>> Yeah.
Yeah, that's cool. There it is.
>> Lowered area.
>> Yep. See all that water dumping off the thing.
Doesn't look organized visually.
No, >> visually it looks unorganized.
Start to see the base of the wealth storm. That horseshoe vortex is like turning into a hole now.
You look so cool.
>> I love how everybody's going fast.
>> Yeah.
>> Also, I did some research on the drones.
>> Uh-huh.
>> And pretty much all the stormchasers that use drones are basically just kind of one use. Like it's a suicide mission for the drone essentially.
>> Yeah. I don't want to do that. Not unless I had insurance on it. But >> yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> But after a couple times, I mean, it's infrastructure. It is good that >> I'd want insurance, but it's not good if you lose your drone and you had really good stuff on it from that whatever you just got.
>> Right. And they're using they're probably gathering the footage other ways as well. Like they're going to throw I think the one I've seen is the the plane looking one like the single engine.
>> Yeah.
>> And they just kind of throw it and they fly it into the >> Oh, >> the tornado. I mean, >> you're talking about the Otus project.
>> Although they use a custom made FPV now.
Yes. So, so that guy's getting Look at that guy's getting after him.
>> Yeah. Pretty fast.
It's a cool shot.
>> Yeah. It's cool when the airplanes are doing the crop dusting and they're >> Oh, yeah.
>> See that a lot. You'll see that a lot if you go to the northern planes cuz I mean they're crop dusting down here earlier in the spring, but now they're you know, >> right?
>> The spring is shifted north a little bit. So, at least the main part for early crop stuff getting closer.
>> Yeah, it's just it's it's still convergence.
So, >> yeah, >> that's what we're seeing.
Still just seeing convergence, but like I said, this is more organized than anything we've seen so far. So, >> Right. Yeah. I mean, it's Do you need?
>> Yeah.
>> We're outside of gutter going toward plane. Goddard. Sorry. I think so.
>> Is it gutterd or it's gddard? Yeah.
>> Yeah. GD.
>> Going to garden plane.
>> Garden plane.
>> Over towards Cheney.
probably stop at Cheney. We're getting close. So, do some live there.
Just pass the storm rider. So, I guess we're going to do two and a half.
Right now, it's got a thumbs down.
>> See how it's thumbs down? That means it's outflow dominant at the moment. It needs to pull it outflow back in.
>> Yeah.
Anytime you get a thumbs down look on a radar, that just means it's outflow dominant at the moment.
>> Yeah.
Pull it back in to become a hook again.
So, >> Gotcha.
>> So, it gives you the thumbs down. It's basically saying like, yeah.
>> Yeah. It's like get your button gear and >> get organized.
See, >> actually, this base is kind of looking better now right in front of us.
>> Uh 4074 outbreak. Uh, I was definitely not alive.
>> I'm 40 years old, so I uh definitely would not have been alive.
>> Yes, Scott, you look really good for 50.
>> Oh, yeah. I was 50. I >> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Like a dog to a tattoo.
It's a beautiful little >> If I'm being honest, based off smell alone, probably not.
>> I can guarantee it.
>> Cold a little bit.
>> Yeah, looks a little cold. Like the storm needs a jacket, but once you feed your dog, the over shirt.
Yeah, but I feel like in general catfoot is just absolutely atrocious no matter what you feed it.
>> Yeah, but like what color do you think it tastes like?
>> I didn't know. Well, I I don't know.
>> Brown sugar raspberry cookie dough.
Raspberry Jolly Rancher flavored.
>> I don't get it.
>> What the heck kind of flavor is that?
>> You're talking about what cat poo would taste like? They must be really bored.
What's going on up there in Nebraska?
>> Brandon. Uh, what color is uh five?
>> Uh, nothing move.
>> I feel like green.
>> Nothing.
>> 10.
>> There's not even any rotation.
>> It's blue.
Wow, they're really bored.
>> Blue actually.
>> That's bad.
>> Black.
>> Would you say blue is dead?
>> Wow.
>> I go with turquoise.
>> Yep. I think it's done up there.
>> Sounds more like two.
>> I think it sounds I don't know what's going to happen here.
>> Expect the turquoise answer for five.
>> I'm going to park up here. Oh, there's some chasers up there.
I will say seven is definitely yellow.
>> Seven is yellow without a doubt.
>> Seven or eight is yellow.
>> Yeah, I copy that on the seven being yellow.
>> The what color is uh six?
>> Orange.
>> Six I feel like is like a forest green.
>> Forest what? I wouldn't say that.
I would agree with that. Well, you know, a dark a darker maybe pine color.
>> Got the council over here.
>> Hell yeah.
>> All right. So, we got 10 67 and two.
>> What?
>> What about everything else? Got to fill in the gaps here.
>> Did someone say 67?
>> Bro, they're boring.
>> 67.
>> Oh, boy.
>> 67.
>> I'm sorry, chat. Might have some goofy friends.
>> [laughter] >> I mean they all know who they are because they follow them as well but still >> drafted out well this looks amazing.
>> H there's a rotation >> looks amazing cuz on radio >> if you sit in SE you can see the rotation.
>> Yeah >> it's not the greatest but >> this closest to us it's going that way.
Furthest it's going that way.
>> I see if you sit and steer it go a solid seven there.
zoom in on or leave it.
>> If you're [snorts] gonna if you're going to move it, move it down here.
>> It looks uh looks >> Yeah, that's good.
>> Appreciate you.
>> Very nice. Um, somebody my >> chat is out chasing it. Says it looks very pretty.
>> Plastic for >> someone in your chat is chasing the better looking storm and watching your stream.
>> Oh, pull over.
That was my first thought.
>> It's a stor It's a supercell, but it's elevated.
>> You need the base to be lower.
>> Yesterday and got a nice little >> structured supercell on the wimpiest updraft ever. So maybe maybe we can at least get >> very slow. Yeah, >> tell you this draft is what we were yesterday. So, >> we have easterly winds going into it.
>> Yeah, but I don't know if it's getting feeding outflow from Yeah, it's just ever so slightly outflow dominant. See that little >> Yeah.
>> Well, let me remark it.
See that little line, >> right?
>> See how it's You can barely see it, but subtle. That's the outflow.
>> Mhm.
>> But it's cur it's curved in to that notch.
>> Yeah.
>> So, inflow.
>> It needs There it is. Yeah. You need You need to >> It's attaching itself. The inflow is right about there. Oh, it's right about there. It's getting a new wall cloud.
>> Yeah. But I mean, see how that see how that rising Scud see how it's rising, if you watch it closely, it's rising up into the >> Yeah.
>> So that's uh that's trying to become surface based.
>> Kansas, at least from a conductive standpoint, it looks like they're not getting as much conction as they thought.
Kansas is underperforming. Let me pretend to be surprised. It's so out of character for it.
It's an updraft. Uh one just behind me just like a shaft sticking down.
>> Yeah, it is.
>> Is that like a wall cloud forming next to us? I'm sorry. You had me on shaft.
[laughter] >> You had me on shaft. I I two seconds before you key up. I said it looks like there's a little wall cloud.
>> Are you like uh >> see you're not telling us about or >> Oh, there's some rotation there. Oh, I see.
>> Are you talking about this thing to our like southeast here?
>> It's trying to become surface base.
>> I feel like it's speeding up. But >> yeah, it's pulling the inflow and it's it's going in right to that lowest part of the storm.
>> Yeah, >> whatever you said, Ben. my radio locked up after Brandon >> saying look two seconds before you key up I I tell Garrett I said it looks like we might have a little wall cloud here and then I hear you key up and say the same thing I'm wondering if you have some kind of a telepathy powers you're not you're not telling us about >> I heard shaft >> what's the sound about >> I'm just stupid What?
>> I just hear what that sounds inverter.
Good. I'll give it that.
>> Okay. Sorry.
>> It's the fans are on.
It's cooling the uh power inverter chasing been cut off over here. The roads have gotten too slick.
>> So, I turn around.
>> It's rotating in the mid level.
>> You can see how it's pulling in here and in that lowest part. And then if you look up, it's pulling in this way. It's going that way.
>> Yeah. So, I see your frogs.
>> It's actually looking really >> much wind out here right now.
>> No, that might be a problem.
We need We need stronger inflow winds. I mean, there's wind, but it's not.
>> We need stronger inflow winds.
>> But y'all's definition that nice is different than my nice.
>> See, we're right on the road here.
>> We're looking d west. Yeah.
>> Right into the notch.
>> Come on.
I agree as well.
>> It's just now your rotation's right there. It's shifted.
>> Actually, there's two areas of rotation.
There's one right there >> and right right in front of us.
>> Yeah.
>> SC.
>> And I hear metal larks out there too.
>> Yeah.
>> Tweeting away.
>> Maybe the Maywood cell could turn into something.
>> And a frog.
>> Is that what you said?
that every cell that develops can do something >> guy up here doing anything.
>> He's probably with that group.
>> Where have I seen this before?
>> Let me guess. Tornado threat increasing.
>> I promise you that's what it says because we were just talking about anything.
I'm convinced watching their live stream like how can we keep them out a little >> tornado potential may increase slightly around sunset before waiting much later this evening the severe threat I'm tired of this grandpa >> it's unorganized again there's not really a focus area of rotation >> Arkansas Kansas list goes on and Yeah, it's not a not an Arkansas day. I only got like 20 MDs.
>> Really slow, too.
>> Yeah, >> look at all these updrafts down here south of this one.
>> I do like the birds.
>> Yes, the birds are nice.
>> All the prairie birds.
>> That's cool. Yeah, >> they're probably laughing at us for being out [laughter] here. It's probably what they're doing.
>> Like these these idiots, >> right, back here.
>> There's a little area of interest right here. Now, it's not much, but it's >> just an area of interest, but there is >> anything immediately the MD comes out with tornado threat increasing.
>> This is rotation right here.
And there's an area of interest right there. Yeah.
Yeah. So, this little area base in front of us there. It's pretty pretty small.
>> Freddy, I don't know if you're on here, but does this area bring back uh >> It's definitely right there, too.
>> Mhm.
>> Yeah. Two areas.
It's It said a little dusty and quote unquote tornado, but I I obsessed on the west side of the storm, so I'm not buying it.
>> And then there's a line of 15 cars in front of me and everyone's behind a trailer.
>> Doing 45 miles an hour.
>> That's starting to look more interesting.
>> It is moving faster.
>> Yeah, it's starting to spin a little more.
Did it catch its outflow?
Kind of.
>> Love how people are starting to blast after that Colorado storm now, too.
>> No, it's really increasing right there.
>> Mhm.
>> I mean, it's nothing amazing. I'm But whatever. It's I mean, yeah, it's better than we've seen today.
>> That thing just doesn't even look good on velocity like You're being I'm pretty sure you're right. Copper's got some telepathic capabilities cuz I literally like five seconds before we keyed up and said that I said the exact same thing.
It's It's freaking me out.
Yeah. Now, now I'm concerned.
>> I don't get it.
Just a nice big flat face.
>> And it's rotating right there. I don't know if it's going to do it. I mean, it's >> Maywood cell is over 50,000 ft now.
>> Looks like the storm's trying to reorganize to the south, but >> yeah, >> trying to pancake a little bit.
>> Looks like it's going up.
>> Yeah, >> there's a lot of rising motion right there. Yeah, there's a little bit of rotating motion where the stream is focused in on.
>> Yeah.
>> What is going on in front of us right now? A freaking traffic accident.
>> One very slow non stormchaser.
>> Like people are just whipping around the brakes and I'm just like what is >> funnel cloud or something?
>> What's going on?
>> It's one trailer and nobody knows how to pass. So we're just all on a conga line doing 45.
>> Thing is is like if I pass two people >> Yeah. It's kind of ringing right there.
>> That line in the middle kind of. Yeah.
>> Everybody I'm already going to be to where I want to be.
>> It's all just Yeah.
Interesting.
This one here doesn't really seem to be Well, there's a new cell popping up to our south, so that might take over.
>> Okay.
>> This little part right here is >> Oh, I see that. Yeah.
>> I'm going to see echo top. See how tall the storm is?
Enhanced echo top.
Ooh, the storm top is at 60 almost 60,000 ft.
>> It's right at 59,000 ft. So, that's pretty tall top.
>> Yeah, >> that's really good. That really uh that spiked.
That's a tall top. Oh, wow. Yeah, that's really nice.
had a taller top at over 60,000 ft a little bit ago right there.
>> So, it's got good tops. It's just uh it needs to >> Oh, it's a great view. They put one right down right there.
>> It's just not surface based. You don't have a good lowering.
>> Yeah, >> you need you need it to be surface based.
>> Maybe He's just doing it to make us >> chief.
>> Oh, is that cool air coming away from the storm?
>> That might be outflow. That's That's the problem.
>> It needs to get out organized.
>> They had to stop you >> and back. It needs to pull air back in.
>> Yeah, that's the alpha boundary. We just They just got us.
We need the air needs to be going into the storm, not away from it. Yeah, >> that's the problem.
>> So, you're going to get lots of crazy mid-level rotation, but >> storm >> surface rotation is not going to be uh you're not going to get any surface rotation cuz storm's undercut >> way out flow needs to pull it needs warm air to feed into the base, not >> cold air coming out away from it.
>> Oh, yeah. It's definitely cool air coming. It's not cold, but it's You definitely got westerly winds, which you don't want.
>> Yeah, >> you want air going in. Sorry.
>> Away from it, right?
>> Yeah, I saw that one.
>> Dude, it's pretty out there.
>> It's beautiful out. Yeah, >> this is looking very, very good.
Feels nice.
>> Yeah. [laughter] >> Oh my gosh.
Oh, lots of outflow.
>> Oh, shoot. Here comes the wind.
>> Yeah.
>> And Ben and the car ahead of him just had to swerve around them because they did it so abruptly.
Just in case, >> man. It's cool. It's >> just not organized, man.
>> All over the place.
>> Yeah. You got you got all kinds of >> You got some interesting >> Yeah. You got you've got rotation, but it's already undercut because you're we're obviously looking >> we're in cool air and that's obviously >> cool air rushing out away from the storm, >> right? And you got a Eddie up there.
Look at that little spin.
>> Look at that.
>> Oh, really? Oh, that's fun.
>> That spin.
>> Look at that. It's a It's a cinnamon swirl.
>> Yeah, it is. [laughter] That's so fun, dude.
>> I mean, it's not going to reach the ground. I don't cuz obviously the air is stable at the surface. So, >> yeah. Oh, dude. Look at that up there.
>> I know. Look at that cinnamon swirl.
It's great.
>> Yeah, you definitely have some rotation.
>> It's got Yeah, it's got great rotation.
If only it was in warm air.
>> Yeah.
Wow. We got a tornado on the main confidence of 72.3%.
>> Dude, it's so interesting seeing rotation that close.
>> I know. It's so sad that >> it's in stable air.
>> So, it will not reach the ground.
>> Yeah, man. It's throwing up great on the stream >> one.
Yeah, got all kinds of turbulence and stuff, but that's cold air.
>> Yeah.
>> Can I get out?
>> Yeah, it's poo poo platter.
>> Don't lose anything.
>> Oh, so sad. It's gone.
>> That was fun.
>> That was fun. It lasted. Yeah.
You see, the storm needs to lose a windshield.
Going to lose a windshield if there's not a tornado.
You have an 11 game bet.
>> What kind of people you got living with you Friday? Jeez.
>> Tomorrow's a Sunday and I want to chase tomorrow, too.
>> I don't know. I've been trying to get them to blow out a windshield, but they just they just won't do it. Even when there is a tornado, they still don't do it.
It's not true.
>> Sounds very small dog if you ask me.
Can't think of one scenario where there's been a tornado and I didn't get out of a tornado.
All right, I'm not going to lie. Next passing zone for this guy. I am going by. That storm is looking very nice and I would like to get to it.
>> Seemed to line up myself.
Haven't even came up to the to your guys's that you were dealing with.
>> See any traffic? B.
>> We're going for it.
Just want to get to 83 and start heading south. Uh Corey, let us know how the hail is in there.
>> Understand. Uh somehow we're at the like at the head of the conga now.
Lions do >> outflow.
>> Is that >> Yeah, that's what the lions do.
>> Is that good?
>> That's why cold got that fast.
>> Yeah, >> it probably dropped like what? 30°.
>> Get it?
>> Something like that. Yeah, this is crazy.
>> I think it handles in here.
>> I still want to find out uh some cool what it's like in there right about now.
>> Anyways, >> sad day. Let me go back to the next I'm going to get back in the warm for where you're at.
>> You just go down the road and you'll be back in warm air while you're right next to me though.
Just judging by >> sad nature of the storms today. I'm thinking if that much DBZ shows up, you probably got some massive stones.
>> That's too bad.
Got some decent >> by showing up on it.
>> Sad to get cold on it.
>> Someone give that storm a jacket. It's chilly.
>> Yeah, we're about to make ourselves hurt.
all the way down speedy.
>> So sad. Oh well, just want to get through this thing and get to the other side that really drive their hazards on.
There's a rain in rain. Cannot confirm any on the ground.
>> Okay, sounds good.
Heat. Heat.
Hey there again. All right.
accurate funnel rapid rotation 5 miles from that road because the hail >> okay dissipated but that thing is rotating >> no he's on the uh he's north of >> Makook storm is he >> what is happening right now this Doesn't make any sense.
>> Oh, they're over by Wolfley. Uh, there's McCook.
>> This whole day hasn't made sense.
>> The whole year hasn't made sense.
I remember that.
Yeah, they're on this one.
Wall fleet.
It's trying to become surface based over there again. It's got that little scutty lowering, but >> yeah, it's trying its best. It really is. I just don't see it happening. Just I don't know. I've seen crazy things happen.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. What do you guys think? You should be heading north with it or just punch this corn into the south side.
I randomly lost radio, but we're going behind us. There may be a lower.
>> Okay.
>> So sad.
>> Temperature has not gone up yet.
>> Come on.
>> It's too cold.
>> It's not even worn.
shocking cuz it's got hail.
>> Sure, we saw ground circulation on that that second attempt it came down. That was I'm almost positive a quick tornado.
>> What are you guys looking for?
>> That thing was definitely spinning.
Uh we got rain bands wrapping into this now. Good man.
>> Gotcha. Okay.
He lost his lost his hug. Lost everything because of the fact that nothing.
>> There's no reds and greens next to each other anymore.
>> See when the temperature jumps up when we cross the boundary, the outflow.
>> Yeah, >> we should have passed it right about now. I guess my north >> 73.
>> I think we just passed it cuz our winds are back.
>> Yeah.
>> The other way.
>> Yeah. Just bad at least.
>> Winds were uh >> Nope. It went down.
It's too bad.
How far is this outflow pushing out away from the storm?
What's the rest of it looking like?
>> What's that?
>> It's what the rest of What's the rest of it looking like? Pretty much the same.
>> Jumping.
>> Yeah.
>> A poo platter as you say. It's a poo poo platter.
If I wanted to see a poop platter, I'd go to the Chinese restaurant, [laughter] >> dude. I've been to some gnarly buffets.
>> Oo, I love Chinese buffets. I hope you like Chinese buffets.
>> I do. It depends on the buffet. Ah, >> one in my hometown. Like every sick, don't go there.
>> Oh, well, I I know all the good places, so >> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> I think there's like a China King in OKC that's really good. It's a big that big >> the 240.
>> Yep. I know about that one.
>> That was a really >> That's a fantastic one.
>> It's really good.
>> But it's expensive, but it's good.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. If they pay for it, but >> that is truth. Um >> Yeah. What do you think about Golden Corral?
>> Golden Corral's all right. It's like kind of >> Yeah.
>> Feel like if you want to eat your butt off all day, then I think that's a great Oh, yeah.
>> It's a great way to get >> Do we have a Golden Corral here in Wood?
It's got to be.
>> Do you like Golden Corral?
>> How big is the hill?
>> I mean, it's all right.
>> It's It's not like it's, you know, it's not like Michelin star level obviously, but it's not bad. I mean, if you get what you pay for. Yeah. I mean, it's like you get what you pay for.
>> I got a front of me slowing everybody up.
>> I'm really hungry.
>> Yeah, me too.
>> How big.
>> Do you want golden craw or do you want a Chinese buffet? Honestly, Chinese buffet.
>> What do you think?
Yeah, it's really good though.
>> That one sounded bigger than a golf ball.
>> Oh, these are actually real pictures, too. Oh, >> let's do that. Let's do it.
>> Hold on. Let me >> Oh, that was nice. [laughter] >> I like how you have a random picture.
>> There's your all you can eat steak and chicken and >> Oh, that's not bad.
>> Oh, actually, uh, >> yeah. Let's go get Let's go gain 30 lbs, Scott.
>> Oh, heck yeah. [laughter] >> 2 in or so, but it's not bad. We're just stuck behind a semi that's doing freaking 20.
>> I haven't been thinking about going crow recently. I passed one area. I was like, "Man, >> when the last time you going?"
>> Yeah, it's been a while.
>> When's the last time? Oh, >> it's been like It's probably been like I don't know 8 n months, probably.
>> Oh, dang. Okay, you're doing way better than I am.
>> Okay, [laughter] definitely get some more limes again.
>> Dude, I'm so bad at eating fast food, man. I got to >> I know. I love eating, but just >> Yeah. You know, I have a high metabolism because I'm very active with my >> Yes, sir.
>> pollinator habitats and things and stuff and things like breaking or >> China is good in every place I know of.
>> But I'd say there approaching a tennis ball.
>> Oh, let's see who's going to break the windows this time.
>> Hey, people doing 30 mph.
>> Ooh, they're getting slammed with hail.
>> Yep. It's probably in the line of traffic I'm in because uh we're stuck behind a a semi that's not going >> and they can't escape because there's a semi truck slowing everybody down. So they're probably getting pelted by >> Yeah, that sucks to suck.
>> Yeah, >> poor guys.
>> That's rough.
>> Yeah.
>> How big does her >> have to get to break your windshield?
>> Yep. It's all because of the semi and the two cars in front of me will not go around you.
>> It was not plugged in. tore down.
>> Hold on a second. Get that wire brief.
This is just insane down here.
>> Is it down or no?
>> Briefly.
>> Can you just go out in >> Hold on. Hold on.
>> I can't. There's a whole con. There's cars in front of him, too.
>> Oh, everybody's getting stuck in stormchaser traffic now. That's right.
As soon as I get an opening, I'll go around.
>> Cannot stand stormchaser traffic. Yeah, >> it's all good. It's already >> They're going to lose windows.
>> That's not good.
>> They already replaced their windows like twice this year. So >> Oh, shoot. Dude.
>> Yeah.
>> I mean, windows are so expensive back there.
>> Dude, try and go around them. The semi-truck cuz they have to.
>> Yeah.
up and down right now, guys.
I couldn't tell you cuz they gave up, but you're fine.
>> So, he just lost his new window there for that.
>> Yep. Shout out to the Congo line.
>> Yep. Here comes bigger stones. I got a small crack in the bottom of my windshield.
>> Oh, he just cracked his >> lowering in front of us. Oh, big hail.
>> Oh my god. Oh, they just >> Jaden just fixed his window a week and a half ago >> and it's already lost it again.
>> I got a car in front of me once I can get around this curb.
>> Oh, this is fun to listen to now off to the east of the road.
>> Oh, poor guys.
>> That looks nice.
>> Yeah, how about that?
>> Dude, I had like Psiz gravel or like gravel size like a little P gravel >> size hail like a few weeks ago when I was in Ada. Yeah.
>> I thought that was like the worst thing anymore cuz that might I don't want to damage my car, you know.
>> Broke my one side window, but I had like strong like RFD winds, too.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> It's got some strong rotation right there.
>> Okay. Okay.
>> Need another east road. Oh, I don't know what the heck this guy's doing.
>> There are no east roads where you are.
>> Coming up, but I don't know how how long we can go east.
>> There are no east roads, >> dude.
>> So, I have not much in the way of options.
>> Nope. So, of course, it's going to tornado out where there's no roads, cuz that makes a lot of sense. Tornadoes love to do that.
>> They love to produce >> They love to tornado where there's no roads.
>> The RFD. Oh my gosh.
>> They're going to lose their windows.
>> That's not good.
>> Or crack their windows.
>> Oh, dude, that's rough. Yeah, >> that's really not good.
>> They're in Wallfleet, Nebraska.
>> Okay.
>> They're on this uh >> That's not good.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> In the RFD. Oh, >> swung at me and Copnick here just north of just east of Welfley.
>> So fun.
>> That's why it's just not worth the risk if there's no tornadoes.
>> Yeah, >> I'll risk I'll risk it if there's a tornado. But >> yeah, like if you're just going through a storm to go through a storm type of thing.
>> Yeah, that's not worth it.
>> We just Yeah, >> I mean there are probably tennis balls.
We're out of it now.
>> That's pretty good. Cool.
>> You mean you have any signal on Starlink? I got nothing.
>> Oh, he just lost his Starlink again.
>> He just replaced it.
>> Is it above his >> He's on on the roof.
>> Why would he?
>> I can't get my road network either. Is there any like north over here or No, >> that means he broke his car as well. So, they broke >> I honestly have no idea. I've got no data to tell. Um it looks like there is a north road. I got a little bit of data on the weatherwise. Oh yeah, they just broke their Starlink antennas. That's what it sounds like.
>> I think those are insured though. So I think I'll send you a new one just >> there's a lot of sky being risen up a bit.
>> You can't tell if there's a bomb, but there's some white hanging down.
So let's go north here.
>> I bet you'd feel like invincible in the Is it the Dominator you said?
>> Yeah, Dominator is pretty that could take a lot. Yeah, that could take a beating.
>> Look at that copic. That might be trying to do it.
>> Yeah, this road is a stronger break. No.
Wow.
Definite funnel. Rapid rotation in the funnel.
Not this one.
>> Yeah.
It's got decent rotation on it.
Best looking se thing so far.
Got two different areas of circulation right now.
Rapid motion in front of us.
Pipe trying to come down.
Okay. Be careful. This road is bad.
We're going to get stuck in the mud.
Dude, don't do it. Not worth it. I don't know. It might be worth it cuz it might be trying to produce a tornado.
This GPS is going crazy.
You look >> like he thinks I'm on the on-ramp, >> dude.
>> The frontage road. That's weird.
>> For me, too.
>> Oh, dear.
Oh, now it has me back on the Oh, now it's Oh, now it's uh I don't know what it's doing.
Now it's flipping out again.
Um just cranking.
You're available one day, right?
>> I can be. Yeah. Okay. Well, we we'll figure it like Yeah. I said, I'll figure it out.
>> Yeah. It doesn't really try to keep trying to take off.
>> Oh, dude. That's >> I'm hungry. I can't lie.
>> I got really hungry really fast.
>> Yeah. I don't know what happened there.
I was just like, man, where do you eat?
Have you ever been to Cracker Bell? I don't think I've ever even been there.
>> Cracker Barrel >> once, maybe.
>> Oh, it's so good.
>> Is it really?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Nice.
>> Very good. It's home-cooked meals.
>> Oh, nice.
>> Just got that home-cooked taste to it.
>> Yeah. Do you like grits?
>> No.
>> I never had grits before. I would rather stick toothpicks in my toenails and kick a wall.
>> Oh, shoot. Okay, >> just kidding. Yeah, I just don't like grits. I don't like the >> I don't like the consistency of it.
>> Yeah.
>> Not Not too gritty for me.
>> Yeah, makes sense.
>> Yeah, it's just a texture that doesn't >> Yeah, it doesn't agree with you.
>> I just don't like it.
>> It has no flavor. Yeah, >> you can add stuff to it. It's like definitely me.
>> Or they have mashed potatoes.
>> That's fair.
>> Yeah, that's very fair. Cracker barrel is good though.
>> Yeah. Cheddar.
>> Yeah, cheddars is very good as well.
>> Shift a few miles west.
>> Motion windshield.
>> I hope they see a tornado to make it worth it.
>> Yeah, it's not going to be worth it. I mean, they won't be able to sell much or anything cuz it's out in the middle of nowhere. No one cares about a Nebraska tornado that's out in the middle of >> Really?
>> Unless it hits something. Yeah.
>> Huh.
>> Yeah. That's how the media works. They just >> Yeah.
>> I mean, YouTube might care about it, but I don't know.
>> Is this thing seriously still not to warn?
>> All right, guys. I think we're going to we're going to get food. The storms are kind of like they're not even severe warned at this point, so we might just call it for the evening.
Uh it might rain later, but it's just kind of junky.
So, but anyway guys, thanks for being here. We will be back on on Monday.
Monday. Oh, they rewarned it. Northwest.
Um, but we will see you guys on the next chase, which will probably be Colorado, Nebraska, like uh what's going on today.
But today, I mean, yeah, it just wasn't worth it going that far, uh, north and west.
Um, so, but I think it looks better on Monday, but we'll see. That's to be determined. So, don't hold me to it just yet, but Appreciate you guys being here. Thank you so much. We're going to get some food.
>> It was a multi vortex.
>> I say I saw like vortices, but I didn't never I couldn't see the ground on a hill way, but looked like it was >> coming off the base.
>> We got the oasis over here.
>> Stop right here. I don't know. Get up.
>> The oasis in the desert. [laughter] >> We're in the prairie. Prairie. Yeah.
more accurate. Park is close to the >> some decent size hail still sitting in the road.
>> I'll sacri >> I'll sacrifice the windshield tornado >> if >> tornado war and everything else that's had the best chance of producing >> the tornado I I have a chance to get really close to the tornado.
>> Yeah. So >> I tell you because North Plat is terrible. They always have been.
>> Norplat Northplat. There you go.
>> Said North Plat Crunch.
>> Hold on a second.
Oops. Didn't mean to do that.
