[00:00:02]In 1898, black Americans, just 30 33 years after emancipation, they built a functional local government in Wilmington, North Carolina. They had elected officials. They had black-owned newspaper. They had a truly thriving merchant class.

Every time the power structure lashes out, every time they lash out is it is a recognition that you succeeded in what you built. But they only want you to remember their destruction, not your construction.
