Unforgiveness is not an affliction but a choice that weighs down our spiritual growth and prevents us from receiving God's full blessings; healing is possible when we actively choose to let go of hurts, forgive ourselves, and allow God to work on our hearts, as demonstrated by biblical examples like Joseph, Job, and Saul.

Letting Go Is Not Enough : Healing & Restoration with GOD | Tourch Talks with Neriah EP. 1Hinzugefügt:
Neriah, and I want to welcome you to the very first episode of Touch Talks with Neriah. I'm so happy to finally doing this, and you get to be a part of my success story. I am so happy to have you here. Welcome to Touch Talks.
Today, we're going to be talking about a very peculiar topic. It's even peculiar to me because this is something that I struggled with in the early years of my Christian journey.
Unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is a word that is so common to us in the Christendom that we've underestimated the impact that it has on our lives as Christians. We've underestimated the impact that it has on our speed. Let go and let God is what I have tagged this particular episode because it's not enough to let go.
The best is to also let God in to bring in the joy. It's not enough to lie to yourself and make yourself feel good knowing fully you've not healed from the situation. Unforgiveness is a baggage. It's a baggage that is so heavy that it restrains and restricts you from receiving the full package that comes with being a child of God.
The [snorts] book of Mark 11:25 to 26 says, "And whenever you stand praying." This is the amplified version.
"And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop.
Leave it. Let it go in order that your Father who is in heaven may also forgive you your own failings and shortcomings and let them drop." This simply means that God is not overlooking the pain. God is not overlooking what the person has done to you. What is more important to God is you.
What is more important to God is where you are going to. Let us first explain what the word unforgiveness means.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, unforgiveness is the state of being unwilling or unable to forgive someone for hurting or offending you.
Another dictionary says, unforgiveness means a refusal or failure to forgive. This means that, in simple terms, unforgiveness is not an act.
It is an act that is mastered over time.
It means that it does not just come upon you suddenly. It is something that starts from you boxing it in, you not praying about it, you not addressing it, you not letting it go, you not letting it go. You not letting it drop.
According to what that Bible verse that we read just now says. It The first category of people we're going to be talking about are the people who has allowed hurt to hold them back.
The hurt that holds you back. That they made you feel hurt doesn't mean you have to stay hurt.
You have a choice to get out of that circle out of that circle of offense that you've imprisoned yourself in.
They lied against you, they betrayed you, whatever the person has done. That they did that to you doesn't mean you should stay there. Some people will be like, "Energy for energy. If you give me buzz, I'll give you boost." At the end of the day, you are becoming like the person.
Because tell me why Christ called you to be like himself, but then you are allowing somebody else to influence your personality.
If someone is making you be something that is out of Christ, the best thing you can do is distance yourself from the person, intercede for the person, and be sure that you do not hold any grudge against that person. You will not allow somebody to keep you somewhere that Christ does not want you to be in.
Any anger or hurt that is making you hold back, you should let go. We all know about the story of Joseph the dreamer, but one key thing that stood out to me that God inspired in my heart was that if Joseph did not allow his family back, if he didn't receive them back, if he didn't accept them to the land of Egypt, then who are those that would have taken his bones to the promised land in the book of Joshua chapter 24 verse 32, because that verse says that they took his bones, they buried it in the promised land. They bought a a piece of land, his descendants, and they they buried his bones, because that was one of the things that he said before he died, he does not want his bones to remain in Egypt. So, if he had not let go, would he have moved? Maybe not his body in the physical, but that was a place that God promised, and he was able to see the promised land because he chose to let go. Number two, this next category is the category of people that has allowed the hurt that they feel to increase in them. If my uncle had helped me, if my sister had helped me, if only she can just help me, if only this person did, you know, this category of people that you helped somebody in the past. You guys had an agreement, you guys had something going, and you expect that oh, by the time this fruit yields, this person is going to actually come back, and you have placed all hopes on the person. My message from God to you today is if you're holding a grudge against somebody, maybe an uncle abroad, you know, in this part of the world it's very common. You have one uncle, one auntie, somebody somebody somewhere that you are calling, he's putting your phone on voicemail, and you are having a grudge. My message from God to you today is in the book of Psalms 121:2.
Your help coming from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. God is telling you that why have you shifted his gaze from him to somebody here?
Because if you are aware of the person that you are in Christ, you will not be angry about what a mortal man did not give you.
It's just like seeing the son of a very prominent person in society. You know who your father is, and then you want groundnuts. And I keep giving me groundnuts. And this like, I cannot give you groundnuts.
Do you know how you feel like? Do you know how many groundnuts I can buy?
Like, why can't you think that way?
Why are you holding anger or grudge against somebody that is living their life because you've chosen not to help you? This sounds very very simple like, ah, but the person can help, but it if it's not a thing, if it's not bothering God, he will not tell me to talk to you about it.
Whether they owe you or they do not owe you, you have a choice to make your life better.
And you are not actually stranded because you have God.
So, if there is somebody that you are fixing your gaze onto, if there's someone that you have been seeking their help, and then that that seeking has now turned to hatred, or probably it has turned to malice or grudge. You don't even You should have hear that the person that you'd be happy that eh eh, see be all those money where where the person carry to. Eh, all the money that he has refused to spend. I should go and spend it in heaven. How can a Christian think like that?
Everybody has somebody in their life that has said no to them. And the person had everything in their capacity to actually do that thing for them.
But this is God telling me to tell you that every no that you get doesn't mean that he has left you. Please, come out of that circle of offense that you've put yourself in.
And choose to trust God. God wants to work with you, but you choose to stick to a You stick to You choose to stick to a corner of your life hoping and staying on a promise from a man. You know, when Jacob did what he did about the birthright, and everybody knows the story of Esau and Jacob, right?
A typical like a normal average Christian even I would advise you have to you will involve the police.
You will We will go all out. We will We were going to You know, we we want to scatter everywhere. And he was angry at first.
It's I feel I don't even know what what came I don't know what happened to Esau that made him not pursue that made him not even you know, hold on to that oath and be just be there. If Had it been Jacob did not take my birthrights, I would have been this. Had it been because this is how some of us think and we talk. Had it been he has taken me abroad. Had it been you will not be well with something something something. It will not be well with If you had taken me, you have a choice.
You have God.
You have God. Esau was so rich.
He rejected the gifts that he Jacob brought him. He said like I have it more than enough.
I have more than enough. Many people do not name their children Esau because of how, you know, the circumstances around his birth. But if you look at the life of Esau, he is the example I think he's he's an example of the word forgiveness.
The first I chose to let go, and he didn't just let go. He let God.
Because letting God is realizing that I can do something with my life.
Yes. I choose I this person is fine whether they are fine whether they help me whether they not sticking to God letting go of the oath. And the person is dark and you are light.
Light enough to move. The third example, this third category of people that this one is very very sensitive. These are the people that have allowed hurt to distance them from God.
This category of people, my message for you is that is from the book of Job 1:21 to 22. I'm going to read it in KJV, then I'm going to read it in Christian Standard Bible version.
Which says, "The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away.
Blessed be the name of the Lord."
In all this, Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
CSB says, "Throughout all this, Job did not sin >> [snorts] >> or blame God for anything."
Don't blame God yet.
I know it hurts. I know you cannot understand how a God that loves you would watch bad things happen.
If I have not seen, when God gave me this example, when he showed me the vision, I felt, "No, this is unreal."
But I've seen situations where people have been people are angry.
People are angry with God.
They cannot understand how a God that says he loves them so much will watch them go through all of this.
A lot of you that are watching me right now, you are angry. I've seen people that stopped going to church.
I've seen some of you, you don't even want to hear it.
You don't even want to know what the person has to say. You trusted God. You told him if you still save this one, don't let this one die.
Save this one. Don't let this one die.
If you save this one, I promise you I'm going to live my life for you. I'm going to do this." And it took maybe your wife, your friend, your sister, your brother, and that hurt has distanced you from God.
So much you don't want to hear him, and you do not want to hear what any of his servants has to say.
My message to you is don't blame God yet.
Because you might not understand the why, but seek to understand the who.
God is not a wicked God.
This is someone that gave his son for you.
He gave you a spotless person.
For people like us, he gave up his son for people like us, and [clears throat] he allowed it for a reason.
So even that pain, that death, you might not understand the why, but seek to understand the who.
Once you know God, you understand that and there must be a reason. It's Thanksgiving is hard.
Trusting God in situations like death or circumstances in which, you know, the effects or the result of that circumstance >> [snorts] >> it cannot be it cannot be reversed, and you are thinking, "This one cannot be restored.
This one that happened cannot be restored."
Trust God.
Don't blame him yet. You served him You served him so faithfully. You were true to him. You were so faithful in the vineyard. You are the last to leave. You are the first to arrive. Everything that pertains to kingdom work.
Don't blame God yet.
I want you to know that when injuries are left untreated, they stink.
That weight that you have refused to drop will hinder your speed.
It will reduce the rate at which you should progress.
And men can perceive your injuries that you refused to stay and let God work on.
That injury that is so deep, that soul wound that is so deep within that you are ignoring, that you are pushing aside, and you are still, you know, living your life, but you know that it needs to be addressed. It is stinking. Injuries are treated in the hospital, and until they are treated, you can't They will not even allow you to even step outside because they want to be sure that you are good. You will never see a patient that is supposed to that they are performing a surgery on walking around.
That is the same way it is in the Christendom.
Sit still.
Allow God work on that wound.
Allow God work on that wound.
Hebrews 12:15 says, "Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God, lest any root root of bitterness springing up trouble you and thereby many be defiled."
Fine.
Your ex did you dirty.
Your former boss probably did you dirty, or somebody from your former workplace did you dirty.
And then you are in a new place of work right now. And because of what happened in your former workplace, you are like, "This one you be frowning face. You will not smile. You don't want to You You will not compliment anybody." You're like, "I just want to mind my business.
I just want You're just like You're just like And that is not who you used to be.
You've lost yourself in the matters of life.
When you belong to the life, you belong to life. You belong to Jesus. But you've chosen to lose yourself in the matters of life. You've chosen to allow men dictate how you live your life. How you when you to smile, when not to smile.
You are now living like a porcupine.
When the Bible clearly says that you are the light of the world. You are the salt of the world. You shine and preserve.
That hurts.
That pain is weighing you down. And deep down, you know that it's weighing you down. For example, we are still going back to the story of Joseph.
Joseph's his gifts of interpretation of dreams got him into trouble in the first place. If you were to be me, I will not interpret dreams for anybody again. In short, if you come to me and say, "I am friends, please just stay on your own." He still used his gifts.
Guess what? That gift got him out.
Do you know that even if Joseph interpreted that dream or not, what would have happened to the happened? The guy would have gotten out of the prison after 3 days.
He merely just told them what was going to happen.
He would have gotten out, but his gifts was what made that guy remember him.
That gift still got him out.
You're shrinking back because they did this to you in your former work place. I just pray that the Lord gives you understanding.
I know that this word is for somebody.
Hallelujah. Now, this fifth category of people, And there's a last category of people.
The fifth category of people are those who has allowed the heart to hit them so much that they hate themselves.
Many of us need to forgive ourselves.
We have done We have We've done some things to ourselves that we're not proud of. Fine. You've made some really stupid, foolish decisions that you cannot forgive yourself for making decisions like, "Why? Was I blind? Was I stupid? Why did I What How did I What What even made me do that? Why would I Like the heart is so deep you cannot forgive yourself.
You have told yourself that you are not even saying it, though. But some of you, you know, as a man thinketh, so he is.
You feel you do not deserve love. Even when somebody good comes to you, you feel like this person is too good for me. Oh, just let them go. Go Go and meet um Go and meet someone better, someone more clean. I do not deserve you.
Have you met Saul?
Have you met Saul in the Bible? You know, I was thinking about it some minutes ago. When the Holy Spirit was like, "Everybody deserves forgiveness. Even you deserve forgiveness." Because tell me how Saul killed hundreds of Christians.
It's not like he went to a program He now heard a pastor preaching. God met him You know, the encounter that we will pray for who will have an encounter with you. God met him in the middle of the way. He was even still going to kill the children of God. And God met him in the middle of the way.
And he said He still told Ananias that you open his eyes. I'm sending someone to you.
Do you know how Ananias would have felt?
Do you know I he have felt that but this person has killed a lot of wars. Why? Why? Why? Because if in the eyes of God everybody deserves forgiveness and he does not like it when we are carrying a burden or a narrative of ourselves that it doesn't even have of us.
Cuz tell me why you feel you don't you don't deserve forgiveness.
Tell me why you feel you don't you don't deserve to be loved.
No matter what has happened in the past, you will still have the best husband in the world.
>> [snorts] >> Fine, abortions. You have children and they will be glorious.
The same Paul that used to write letters to collect permission to kill and enter territories wrote letters. Many of the epistles all the epistles they were reading today, most of them were written by Apostle Paul.
God can use any man.
And everybody is deserving of forgiveness in the eyes of God. So why would you not forgive yourself?
Tell me why you've chosen to box yourself in in a dark corner. Even you are not even allowed the light of God, the light of the men that he's sending to you to shine on you.
I'm sure everybody oops, people you at one point or the other we've met some people we want to help.
They're always depressed. They're always unhappy. They're always like I mean no.
The joy of the Lord is your strength. If you are weak, there is something wrong.
You've lost your joy. You've lost the person you used to be.
You've lost the person you used to be.
Why would you box yourself in a dark corner when God himself is telling you to come, lay down, drop it off. That's what that Bible passage says. Mark 11 says drop it off.
The book of Matthew >> [snorts] >> 11:28 to 30 says, "Are you tired, worn out, burnt out on religion? This is a message version. Come on to me.
Get away with me and you will recover your life.
I will show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me.
Work with me.
Watch how I do it.
Lend your unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't lay anything heavy or unfitting on you.
Keep company with me and you will learn to live freely and lightly.
Unforgiveness is a choice.
It is not an affliction.
It is a choice. You can choose to forgive and you yourself can choose to not forgive.
But my message for you from God today is you can be whole again.
You can be whole again. Healing is very possible, but you have to allow God in.
Like I said earlier, patients do not walk around when surgery is being performed on them. You have to stay still.
This restlessness that you feel in your spirit can be exchanged for peace.
What choice are you making today?
Because I want to believe that you've understood that the grace of God is not limited to sins.
The grace of God is available for everybody. And for the certain categories of the this categories of people that I have mentioned, whether the hurts that the ones that are in category of those that they've allowed hurt to hold them back, they've allowed her to imprison them, they've allowed her to weigh them down, those that have allowed hurts in so much that they can't forgive themselves. Whatever category that you fall into today, I want you to know that unforgiveness is a choice.
It is possible to forgive. It might not be possible to forget, but it is very possible to forgive. And it is very possible to remember without being tainted by those memories of whatever the person has done to you.
It is possible.
Come to God not just for the things you want to do for him.
Not just to work for him.
Come to God to work on you.
To work on your heart. Don't Don't be a wounded soldier.
Do not be a wounded soldier on the battlefield. You can't keep speaking in tongues and claiming and assuming territories for God or keep flourishing yet you are wounded.
I just pray that the Lord gives you understanding of these words that I've spoken today. And whatever category you fall in, I pray that the Lord helps you to come out of that. And that the next time that we're going to be meeting on this podcast, I want to meet a very a better version of you.
One who has forgiven herself.
One who has chosen to let go of hurts that has been caused and afflicted on them by other people. The one who has chose to let go of every burden that has come with their past or mistakes. The one who has chosen to move out and break out of darkness and chosen to give theirself a chance.
Chosen to shine forth.
I pray I meet that version of you the next episode. Now, let's pray together.
I want you to pray with me.
Say, "Father Lord, I exchange every restlessness for your peace. I exchange every anxiety for your peace. I exchange every hurt that I am feeling for your joy. I exchange every bitterness for the ease that comes with you. Lord, I give it up. Lord, I let go of everyone that has hurt me. I let go of everyone that has has caused me pain.
I let go of that person. Begin to mention the name of the person. I let go of this person. I let go of you. I know you caused me hurt. I let go. I know you made me feel so terrible about myself and my decisions, but I let go. I know you've made me you stunted my growth.
You You made me stuck for years. I could not move, but I let go because I choose myself. Because I believe that I can recover it back. The Lord has told me in his word that if he will teach me what the meaning of grace really is, so I choose to let go.
I choose to let go and I let God.
Father, Lord, I pray for as many that are listening right now.
I pray that you bless their hearts. And I pray that you give them peace to surpass understanding in the name of Jesus. I pray that you breathe your name upon them. I pray that a peace that they've not experienced in a long time will come upon them in the name of Jesus. That even after the podcast, when those memories, when those voices want to taunt them and take them back to that circle, I pray that you will you will raise a standard against those voices in the name of Jesus. That you will shine your light so bright that every darkness in any part of their life is exposed to your word in the name of Jesus. I speak light into their lives. I speak freedom into their life. I speak strength into their life. I pray that you give them grace, Lord, that even as they journey in the in the in the course of their Christian journey, that Lord, you will help them to easily let go of offense, to forgive easily, in the name of Jesus.
Amen. Oh Lord, we thank you. Hallelujah.
Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. So, if you would like to give your life to Christ, if you love to give your life to Christ, I want you to place your right hand on your chest as I'm doing right now, and take this prayer with me and say, "Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus, I surrender, Lord, today, and I accept you as my Lord and my personal savior. I choose you today, and I choose you forever.
Lord, write my name in the book of life.
In Jesus name, I have prayed. Amen.
Amen. You're officially a child of God, and now you can enjoy from the package that comes with being a child of God. If you said this prayer now, and you just gave your life to Christ, I would love to hear from you. Kindly send me an email at nera.lit at gmail.com. I'll be expecting your email.
