[00:00:02]Vice President Sara Duterte's legal team says the House of Representatives finding of a probable cause to impeach her came as no surprise.

[00:00:11]In a statement on Wednesday, April 29, Duterte's camp maintains that the chamber had supposedly departed from its constitutional design. According to Duterte's team, the impeachment process at the House expanded into matters that they believe belong to a full trial.

[00:00:26]Duterte's defense says the committee should have confined itself to the verified complaints and their attachments. The House Committee on Justice earlier Wednesday found probable cause to impeach Duterte with 53 lawmakers voting in favor of the motion.

[00:00:40]This came after three clarificatory hearings on two impeachment complaints against Duterte. Duterte, along with her defense team, snubbed all these hearings. Instead, they relied on press conferences and statements to air denials and their side on the allegations against Duterte. After determining probable cause, the committee will have to craft its report containing the resolution and the articles of impeachment. Once the report is approved, it will be transmitted to the plenary for deliberation.
