After spinal fusion surgery, patients can expect to experience pain, pressure, and heaviness along the spine during recovery, which is normal as the body heals and bone fuses together; imaging studies like X-rays are used to verify that hardware (screws and rods) is properly positioned without damage; patients can typically resume normal daily activities such as driving and working, though they may need to take frequent breaks throughout the day; physical therapy is often recommended to address any pre-existing conditions or recovery-related issues.

Almost 6 months post op laminectomy and spinal fusion for a tumor. #spinalfusion #surgery追加:
Hey guys, so it has officially been 5 and 1/2 months since I had a laminectomy and spinal fusion from T1 to T11 after they removed a large vascular tumor that was compressing my spinal cord. Here's my little update of how I'm doing today.
First, I just want to go over my recent imaging that I had done. I had a appointment with my neurosurgeon's office and they did do x-rays to make sure that all the screws and rods are exactly where they placed them. Good news, everything is exactly where they had placed them. There's no evidence of any loose or damaged hardware at this point in the recovery, so I am so grateful for that. So, as far as pain goes, I do have pain and pressure and heaviness that is along my spine and my back and my neck a little bit, but I think that's kind of to be expected at this point in recovery. It's a lot that your body has to deal with and go through. My spine is healing from surgery and trying to fuse bone together. So, it's a lot going on in there. So, I'm just trying to be patient and just rest when I need to, but as you can imagine, it is pretty frustrating. I do need to take breaks a lot and lay down whenever my back is feeling more flared up just to give my spine a break.
For the most part, I'm functioning like normal. If you saw me out and about, you wouldn't even probably notice that I had spine surgery. I'm driving. I'm doing whatever I need to get done. So, I just have to take a lot of breaks throughout the day, but I'm very grateful for being able to function as well as I am. I have been doing physical therapy for my back as well. I am doing physical therapy for a separate issue that I will touch on in another video. Basically, I had this issue in my left arm, shoulder area that I had prior to surgery. So, I had this issue and the tumor, but at the time the tumor, we found out, was growing really rapidly and squishing my spinal cord.
So, that kind of took priority. Got the tumor figured out. Now, it's almost been 6 months post-op and we're realizing that this issue is a separate problem from the tumor. So, we are trying to figure out what's going on because it is very debilitating, very painful. I can't use my left arm like I normally should be able to. So, if you want to follow along, I will be posting more about that, as well.
But, for the most part my spine is healing as it should. I'm just dealing with some of that pain and pressure still. But, I assume as the months go on, it will get better. I think my body is just trying to adjust and adapt to living differently.
