A University of Texas student team discovered that approximately 25% of items in a campus dumpster were new, unused, and unopened, demonstrating that a significant portion of what is discarded could potentially be recovered and reused rather than treated as true trash.

Dumpster Treasures 2.0追加:
Happy Sunday, everyone. I'm sure you can hear I'm losing my voice, and that is because graduation was this weekend.
There were a ton of students that graduated, and also with graduation comes with moving out. So, one team of nine came to UT campus and this dumpster right here. They went through the dumpster, and they were looking to see what people classify as trash, what is new, what's used, what's unopened, what could be recovered. That team of nine found that only about a third of what was in this just one dumpster was true trash, and about a quarter of it was new, unused, unopened, and usable trash.
>> hasn't just affirmed, it's kind of blown me away.
Um before we started, leading up to the week, I was getting really excited. I said, "Yeah, I I think a couple of percent's going to be new, unopened, with tag on." Like, 3% in my head. We found 12% tag on. And so, that was shocking to me.
They say that one, these numbers were alarming, but two, one man's trash could be another man's treasure.
