The Twisha Sharma case demonstrates how privilege and influence can delay justice, as former judge Giribala Singh remained protected by anticipatory bail for nearly two weeks despite serious allegations of dowry harassment and cruelty, until the Madhya Pradesh High Court canceled her bail after reviewing postmortem evidence showing antemortem injuries and CBI findings of character attacks and dowry demands, ultimately leading to her arrest by the CBI.

Twisha Sharma Case: Ex-Judge Giribala Singh's Arrested By CBI After Anticipatory Plea Cancelled本站添加:
After days of outrage, questions, and growing public anger, the moment finally arrived. The CBI has taken former judge Giribala Singh into custody in connection with the Twisha Sharma death case.
The development happened on Thursday in Bhopal, just hours after the Madhya Pradesh High Court canceled her anticipatory bail.
For nearly 2 weeks, Giribala Singh remained protected from arrest while the case around her daughter-in-law's death kept getting darker. Now that protection is gone, and the walls finally appear to be closing in. CBI officials reached Giribala Singh's residence on Thursday morning and later took her into custody.
The arrest marks the biggest turning point yet in the shocking Twisha Sharma case, a case that [music] has triggered national outrage over dowry harassment, alleged abuse, and the role of influence and privilege in the justice system.
Because many people have been asking one uncomfortable question from the very beginning. Why did it take so long to arrest her? Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old actor and model, was found dead inside her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12th. At first, it appeared to be a suicide case, but very quickly disturbing details began emerging. An FIR was filed on May 15th against Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, under charges linked to dowry harassment and cruelty. And then came the controversy that shocked many observers. Within hours of the FIR being registered, Giribala Singh, herself a retired district judge, received anticipatory bail from a local Bhopal court. That decision immediately raised eyebrows because this was not an ordinary accused. This was someone who had spent decades inside the judicial system.
Someone who understood exactly how investigations work. And now, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has strongly questioned that earlier bail order. In a sharp ruling, the High Court said important evidence and allegations were ignored by the lower court while granting protection from arrest. The court pointed specifically to Twisha's postmortem findings. According to the High Court, six injuries were found on Twisha's body apart from the hanging marks. Four injuries on her left arm, one on her finger, and one injury on the head. Most importantly, the court observed that the head injury was antemortem, meaning it happened before death. The court also noted that these injuries were not caused while taking the body down or carrying it to the hospital.
That observation changes the seriousness of the case completely. And then there are the allegations made by the CBI.
The agency told the court that WhatsApp chats recovered during investigation showed Twisha's character was allegedly questioned after she became pregnant.
According to the CBI, she was allegedly forced to terminate her pregnancy after accusations were made that the child belonged to another person. Just think about the gravity of that allegation. A young woman allegedly harassed inside her own marriage. Her character questioned. Her pregnancy allegedly turned into a source of humiliation.
The CBI also told the court that witness statements pointed to repeated dowry demands. According to investigators, Twisha's in-laws allegedly complained that the dowry given during the marriage was not up to their standard. And even after Twisha's death, the controversy only deepened. The CBI accused Giribala Singh of trying to influence the narrative by circulating selective video clips on social media.
Investigators also told the court that she repeatedly failed to cooperate with the probe despite multiple notices being issued to her. At one point, notices reportedly had to be sent through WhatsApp. The High Court took serious note of this alleged non-cooperation while canceling her bail.
And honestly, this arrest feels delayed.
Because in ordinary cases involving dowry death allegations, arrests often happen swiftly. But here, many felt the system moved differently because the accused was powerful, connected, and legally experienced. That perception damaged public trust from the very beginning. Meanwhile, Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, remains in CBI custody.
Investigators recently took him back to the house where Twisha was found dead as part of the reconstruction of events.
The CBI is now probing allegations of dowry harassment, evidence tampering, and the exact circumstances surrounding Twisha's death.
This case is no longer just about one family tragedy. It has become a test of whether influence can shield people from accountability. For days, the people watched a former judge give public statements while investigators struggled to move forward. Now, the situation has changed dramatically, but the biggest question still remains unanswered. What exactly happened to Twisha Sharma inside that house on May 12th? And will the investigation finally uncover the full truth? The country will be watching very closely.
