A Predator engine swap on a vintage commercial mower can significantly improve performance, with the 173cc Predator engine providing superior torque, power, and throttle response compared to original engines like Briggs and Stratton; however, compatibility issues may arise with blade adapters, requiring experimentation with different adapters (such as MTD adapters) to achieve optimal blade positioning and cutting performance.

1 Year Later! Predator engine Swap on a Sensation Commercial MowerAdded:
Heat. Heat.
Heat.
Heat.
What's up, guys? more medic here and today's video is going to be on the predator engine swamp that I did on this sensation commercial mower last year.
So last year I picked up this uh commercial sensation mower and it had a blown up Briggs and Stratton engine and uh this is a aluminum deck. It's a sensation commercial.
Uh, I did a couple parts on this as far as videos go. Uh, when I got it, it didn't have any front end. We went into the Harbor Freight and bought some wheels and some hardware at Tractor Supply and we were able to get the front wheels mounted back on here.
Uh, it's got the 173cc Predator from Harbor Freight. And so far, it has been an absolute beast as far as a mower engine. Let me get away from these animals barking.
Uh, man, this it just mows awesome. I uh did a couple of things to it to had to modify the blade adapter. The original sensation blade adapter or the original uh blade adapter for the Briggs engine would not fit this uh Predator engine. However, if you take a good look at that right there, that is a blade adapter for an MTD bore.
And it tucks the blade in just about right. And it does cut just about perfect. Is it worth the $200?
or in my case, I think it was 159 for the engine to put on a mower. Yes, most of these little cheapy mowers aren't more than $200. They're I saw one on Amazon for, I don't know, $1.99.
And of course, it would be foolish to put an engine on one of those. But if you have a commercial mower that's already lasted 40 years and you want to repower it, you get another 40 years out of it if the engine will last that long.
But it cranks really easy. It doesn't even have a choke on it. I've actually put an onoff switch here.
Prime it a couple times.
It's probably flooded now since I had it on the side.
Even says step here when starting. I can do that.
I will link in the description and in the first comment will be the three videos that I did on this. You can go back and watch the whole process of taking the old engine off and swapping it over doing a brake delete and getting this thing back going like it's supposed to. But anyway guys, hey, I just wanted to do a little one-year review on this little Predator.
Awesome little machine. That thing will absolutely eat, buddy. But anyway, hey y'all have a good rest of your week.
More medic one.
