Stormwater Harvesting at Edinburgh Gardens

[00:00:00]Rainy days here at Edinburgh Gardens are doing more than you might think.

[00:00:03]Stormwater harvesting [music] is collecting the rain that falls on the hard surfaces in our city. So, instead of letting that water go down the drain, we are using that to collect and [music] use for other purposes. Water is directed through drains into this rain garden. By slowing it down [music] and filtering that water, and then at the end of the rain garden, the water goes into a big tank under the ground. It sits in a big tank until we need [music] to use it. So, when it's not raining, we use it to irrigate the ovals and the parklands. Instead of using drinking water, our precious drinking water from our catchments, we are using the water that falls on our city to [music] water our local parks and gardens. We're so lucky to have all of these green open spaces in Melbourne, but [music] we want them to be green, and stormwater can play a really important part in keeping our open [music] spaces green and lush and the beautiful places that we want to come and relax.
