[00:00:00]Our native wildflower species are really important for our native invertebrates.

[00:00:04]Here we've got a cuckoo flower. This little flower pops up in spring and it's really important for the orange tip butterfly. The orange tip butterfly almost exclusively lays its eggs on this [music] plant. So without this flower, we don't have orange tip butterfly caterpillars.

[00:00:20]If you look closer, they like [music] to lay their eggs just underneath the flowers of the plant.

[00:00:26]And they're bright orange. So if you can see here, there's a [music] bright orange little butterfly egg right there.

[00:00:35]The [music] orange color actually comes from the caterpillar that's inside the egg. So when it's first laid, the egg is a greenish-white color, slowly turns orange [music] as the caterpillar develops, and then in a couple of weeks a bright orange caterpillar will emerge.
