UK police have expanded their investigation into Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to include potential sexual misconduct and corruption, not just the alleged leaking of government reports to Jeffrey Epstein, demonstrating that investigations into public figures can encompass multiple types of misconduct and may involve complex legal processes including searches, international cooperation, and potential charges that could significantly impact the royal family.

UK police expand investigation into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor over potential sex crimesAjouté :
The extraordinary royal photograph that went viral around the world for all the wrong reasons. Andrew caught moments after being released under investigation in February following his arrest and questioning. Detectives investigating alleged misconduct in public office searched his former home at Royal Lodge in Windsor and his temporary home in Norfolk. The initial allegation emerged from the publication of files related to Jeffrey Epstein in the US and centered on the alleged leaking of British government reports to the convicted pedophile.
Now detectives are making a fresh public appeal urging anyone with information about any alleged misconduct by the former prince to come forward. They are reportedly concerned the public may assume the investigation is limited to the alleged leaking of government material, but it is also looking into possible sexual misconduct and corruption. Detectives are also seeking material from the US Department of Justice. Despite the release of heavily redacted files, no documents have yet been provided to British authorities.
Meanwhile on Thursday, the British government published papers regarding Andrew's appointment as a trade envoy in 2000. I want to assure the house that we have proceeded on the basis of maximum transparency. I reiterate the government is fully cooperating with Thames Valley police in their investigation. The papers reveal the late Queen was very keen for her son to take on a prominent role as trade envoy and that he underwent no formal security vetting.
Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to his association with Epstein and has denied receiving any personal benefit from his time as a UK trade envoy.
Senior members of the royal family have been trying to continue with their normal duties this week, but hanging over all of them is the prospect that depending on the information detectives receive, charges against Andrew could be brought in the coming year plunging the family into an unprecedented crisis.
