Visiting the World's LARGEST Residential Snow Removal Company!Added:
We are in the nation's capital right now. JR is one of the biggest snow removal companies. 67 L660s on the lot right now at this facility. I'm about to hop in a Kamatsu 320. This is my first time really really running a loader.
We're going to let this Laroo eat. So, we're going to fire up the augur.
Absolute monster.
>> YouTube. What's up, guys? We are back and we got a special video for you guys today. Look at this DY. It's not my truck. I wish it was, but it was given to us from our good friend Cory Mount over at Professional Auto. Shout out to Cory. He's letting us borrow this truck because we are going all the way down to Ottawa. A 9hour drive for all you guys watching. We got one of our K Cabota L60s on the back with the tilt deck. And you're probably wondering, well, where are we going? Why are we going to Ottawa? What are we doing? We're going to visit the largest residential snow company in the entire world. and we thought we'd bring the camera with us for the ride and bring you guys along with us. So, let's hop in the truck.
Let's make our way to Ottawa. And make sure you stick around to the end of this video because we are going to be giving a massive, massive giveaway for anybody watching that might be interested. For now, wish us luck. Currently 5:00 a.m.
here in St. Mar, Ontario. Feels like it's December 11th. My hands are freezing and about to come off. Let's get in that truck. Let's get warm and let's hit the road, baby.
It's time to get a coffee, brother. So, we're going to Ottawa. I never been there. I'm very excited about it, honestly. Like super excited. Hello. How are you?
>> I'm good. How are you?
>> Good. And you guys? Good. Can I get um large black and a bottle of water? A medium. Two sugar. Medium double double for our child. Two two more bottles of water. Jo. So, so it will be three bottles of water.
>> Yeah. Is there anything to eat like sandwiches? Oh, yeah.
>> You know what? Give me a double sack loaded croissant.
Yeah, you know what I want. Thank you.
Did you put some ketchup in there, please? Like at least two. Yeah. And the water, right? Thank you, guys. Take care.
>> Yeah.
>> Wow. The crunch is insane.
>> Oh my god.
>> Wow. That sounds good.
Okay guys, we're roughly at that halfway point. We just got to North Bay. Eric loves this spot right here, the Joo Point Fish and Chips. Okay, I guess they got some good local fish here. So, the boys are hungry. It's about 11:00 a.m.
right now. We've been up since 4:00, so we might get some quick lunch. Look at the salt on the roads up here in Northern Ontario right now. Okay, look at the tractor. Never mind the black on black. It looks like we got a new paint job on her. You know what I'm going to call it? The white out. Look at the rig.
Toast. Absolutely toasted. Man, I don't know why they use so much salt down here. Eh, it's crazy. So, back home in Susie, like we're just used to a lot of sand down there. So, our trucks don't end up looking like this, but when we come down south, this is why people have a lot of wiring issues with their K Cabotas. Makes sense. Now, >> we almost full filled up there.
>> Yeah.
>> What's the guess? Lucky number. What do you guys think?
>> How much it taken?
>> Yeah. How much you think it's going to take? We're putting dyed in it, too.
Die.
>> Two uh 200.
>> 200.
>> $200. Yeah.
>> 220.
>> Okay. I'm saying 155.
>> 155 on diesel.
>> Little bit of this, a little bit of that, and five on diesel.
>> I want to do a special giveaway for all you guys watching right now. We're here to take care of some business on behalf of Aurora. You know, that's the software company that we use to power our business, Northern Snow. And the special thing I wanted to do for you guys watching right now is we want to give a 12 month subscription away for free to one of you guys watching. That's $7,200 in value going to one of you guys watching right now. You have to either be a business that's currently started or if you're looking to get into business. All you got to do is scan here. Make sure you fill out the form, book a demo. That's $7,200 in value going to one of you guys watching right now that might be interested in getting into business. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the vlog. Make sure you stick around to the very end. I would say, dude, the tractor's cooked right now.
>> Oh, the tractor. It's bad. Watch it.
>> Yeah. 182.
>> Look at this truck. This is the white out. The white out edition.
>> Yeah.
>> Never mind. Black on black.
>> Yeah. I couldn't see.
>> December.
>> It's peak December right now. Okay.
We're about to hit 155 on ice.
>> So cold.
>> I could hear it. It's getting to the top right now.
>> I said 180.
>> And she has 220. Oh, 200.
>> It's 200 or over.
>> I hope I don't win it.
>> It's 200 or over. Guaranteed.
>> Yeah. Who am I kidding right now with all the crazy fuel prices going on? It's definitely 220.
>> It's over 200 guaranteed.
>> Is the fish chip stand open?
>> No, it's closed.
>> Closed. Okay. Looks like we're going in the corner store.
>> The fish and chips.
>> We're going to get We're going to get the trucker delot.
The trucker's delot.
>> It's good fish, eh?
>> Okay, we're creeping up on 200.
>> Yeah. 220.
>> Wow.
>> Never mind.
>> What did you say? How much?
>> Why don't we wait in the truck?
>> I said 180, but No, you're done.
>> Let's go. You want I'm done.
225.
>> Where you Where are you going to pay?
Right here. Or you going to pay? Did you pay with the card?
>> 225.
>> Okay, that's it. New number. We need a new number.
>> What's your new number?
>> Oh, she was so close.
>> 2 226. It even splashed back at us.
>> Wow.
>> There we go.
>> A little extra room. There's always >> There's always a little extra room there. Might as well top her off at 230.
I can't even breathe right now. It's so cold out here. It looks It looks nicer than it actually is. We're going to go in the convenience or just keep ripping?
>> No, no. Let's go in the convenience. I want to get another drink.
>> So, you know what's nice about uh buying fuel on the reserve is you get it for a fraction of the cost. Back home just before leaving, we had diesel all the way up at $259.
Okay. 260 a liter. Right now, the fuel here is at 209 a liter. Basically 50 cents less, which is quite a bit.
>> Oh, can you take a picture of my boyfriend?
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Who loses his mind?
>> Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Like a selfie or together? Um, >> we're vlogging right now if you don't mind.
>> I know that's awesome.
>> We're live live right now on Facebook.
>> No, I'm joking. I'm joking.
>> Let's get a quick pick and then >> Yeah. Yeah, let's do it. Here, I'll hold it.
>> Okay, awesome.
>> What's your name?
>> Rory.
>> Rory?
>> Yeah.
>> Nice to meet you.
>> Nice to meet you.
>> Okay, we'll take a pick.
>> Cute. That's awesome.
>> Thank you. Thank you.
>> So, where where are you from? Right around here in um >> I'm from Along Park area, but I went to Sue and Sue.
>> Oh, really?
>> For fish and wildlife.
>> Nice. That's awesome. Yeah, it's been a been a ride.
>> Yeah, good on you.
>> I love North. So, >> yeah, the north is nice. A lot of fun.
Fishing's a lot of fun, that's for sure.
>> Definitely different than down south.
So, >> you do any hunting, too. Yep.
>> Nice. Cool. Fishing.
>> Cool. Well, safe travels. Nice meeting you. Nice meeting you.
>> Yeah. What was your boyfriend's name?
>> Conor.
>> Connor. Tell him I say what's up.
>> Okay. Cool. Cool. Awesome. What are you grabbing, bro?
>> Oh my god.
>> What?
>> Different dots.
>> What? Dude, you're not getting >> Are you getting those crazy?
>> Are you getting one?
>> I used to have those.
>> Okay, which which kind? Which kind?
>> Hold the camera. Chocolate ones.
>> Dude, they got different.
>> These are nuts.
>> No, they seem expired.
>> No, no, no. They don't expired.
>> They're expired. That's for children, bro. Get yourself a Coke Zero.
>> Okay, hurry up and pick. We got to go.
>> Well, guys, we just had to do a little quick stop in there. I came out empty-handed because I I want to get some real food, man. I don't want no truckers to lie right now, okay? I'm not feeling like getting uh any sort of snacks from the corner store. I do that too much. So, yeah, we've been doing that all winter, you know what I mean?
Between Tim Hortons and gas station stops. So, I'm going to go wait for some real food that we could get on the side of the highway or when we go into a smaller town. But, how about this rig?
Eh, I think I'm due for a new truck.
Honestly, I've been saying that for what? I think it's been almost a year and a half, 2 years. The audience is ready to probably kill me. I'm sorry, guys. I don't know. My truck's mint. I have this weird love for my my Dodge Laramie. It gets me from point A to point B. And I'm telling you right now, there is no seat I've sat in in a truck that is more comfortable than my Dodge Larie 2015. Just saying. The >> snow guy from Susie.
>> I'm that snow guy from Sus Marie. Nice to meet you.
>> I watch all your videos.
>> Oh, you do? Thank you so much. YouTube or uh Facebook or Instagram?
>> Facebook. Yeah.
>> Hey, thank you for supporting, man.
What's your name?
>> Tom.
>> Tom. Nice to meet you. You're from around here?
>> Yeah. Sturgeon.
>> Sturgeon. Nice. I thought we were in North Bay. Yeah, I guess we're a little bit away still.
>> How much longer? An hour?
>> 20 minutes, half hour.
>> 20 minutes, half an hour. We're going to stop there for lunch. Well, Tom, it was nice meeting you, man. Thank you for supporting. I appreciate it, dude. Take it easy. Thank you. Thank you.
Well, our ride from the gas station to Mr. Sub lasted a whole 20 minutes. Did a couple loops in North Bay. Couldn't find anywhere good to eat. So, we're here at Mr. Sub. That's it. That's it. That's all. Eric's going to have something disgusting. I'm going to have something equally as gross. And then we're going to be back uh to sitting in the chair for another 4 hours and then we'll be there. Here we go. Well, guys, this is what we got. It's a little a little bit of a a burnt hamy. Cheers.
So, the question I want to ask Eric right away is, how goes the trip, Eric?
How was the ride? How do you like the DY? I didn't like the the drive for like an hour that we were driving on snow and it wasn't really like scraped. So, it was a little bouncy and everything. But after that, like right now, the streets are clear and yeah, the sun is shining.
It's not, you know, dark like depressing dark.
>> It is nice out.
>> It's really nice.
>> Can you tell everybody how cold it is, though? It's super super super cold and it's very humid as well. So, it makes it uh feel even colder, right? It goes to the bones for sure.
Okay, guys. We just made it. I think we're pulling in the back here. We're at JR Lawn and Snow here in Ottawa. Right.
I think right here or right here. This way. This way. This way. Yeah. This way.
Look at the boys. They just got the pickets undone. They're cleaning all up in the back. What's up, brother?
>> Holy.
>> We We came in style. Our mechanic let us borrow the truck.
>> Okay. Pull up back here. I'll get you cleaned up.
>> Okay. Thank you. We appreciate it, man.
Look at these tractors, bro. 67 L 6060s on the lot right now at this facility.
>> I'm going to leave it right here. So, seven tractors more than us back home in Sue St. Marie and they service 9,000 driveways here locally. I forget what town we're in in Ottawa. Let's go meet everybody though. Set up. We're going to go for a little bit of tour, meet the owners, meet some of the staff.
Currently 400 p.m. Man, we left at 5 this morning and we just got here now.
An 11hour drive. It was tough. Here's the proof to show you guys.
Incredible. And you know what? The DY held up absolutely amazing. Cory Mount, thank you again. Appreciate you letting us borrow the truck. We came back in style this time, broki, how you doing, man? Thanks for having us, bro.
>> Good to see you.
>> Yeah, great to see you. Look, you got the full crew ready here, eh?
>> Yeah.
>> Long drive or what?
>> Yeah. How was the winner? It was >> great.
>> It was busy, eh?
>> Yeah. Not you guys, but you guys are just taking pickets out right now.
>> Yeah, exactly. Yeah, we're pretty much all got them removed the past 2 days.
So, >> how many events?
>> How many events? We at 23.
>> 23. Not bad. Sick. Sick.
>> Cool.
around the 250 mark. I know it's significantly less than you guys, but >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Cool.
>> How's it going?
>> Good to meet you, man. Thank you for having us, bro.
>> Absolutely.
>> How do you guys do that?
>> 5:00 a.m. So 11 hours it took us.
>> Shouldn't have took us that long, but it did.
>> Whose truck is a snow gauge here, guys?
>> No, no, no. So, it's uh if you look at the sticker on the front, it's Cory Mount's truck. He's our mechanic in town who does a lot of our mechanical stuff for like safeties, all that, all that sort of stuff. and we had to go bring our our white truck that you see in the videos that Eric always drives and we needed a yellow sticker and he's like, "Boys, I can't get this done in time."
So, I'm like, "Well, we're screwed. We don't have like a heavy duty truck to take down with this tractor." He's like, "Here's the keys. Take mine."
>> Sick.
>> So, I let us take it. It's only got 7,000 clicks on it.
>> It's a beast.
>> We'll get it cleaned up here.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I feel horrible.
>> Once we clean the trailer, we'll get you to park it in the back. Just leave it here so you're not doing that around town.
>> Cool. Who Who do we got here? Stephano and Arduchi, man. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. I think I seen some of you boys in the videos. You for sure. Nice to meet you, man. Cool. You guys work around the shop?
>> Yeah.
>> Nice, dude. Que, sweet, sweet, sweet.
Yeah, I can see you guys are just taking all the all the pickets and sleeves out right now, eh?
>> Yeah. Who's got fiberglass in their hands? Everyone.
>> No gloves. We went.
>> Yeah. Smart, smart. I don't think it's going to start after all that wind. We should have PUT >> NICE. BINGO. You can see how heavy it is. See the front end just lift up there. Wow. It looks rough right now, eh? We're going to give the truck, trailer, and the tractor a bit of a bath. They're already treating us like like royalty over here at JR. They're going to make sure everything's nice and cleaned up for us. And real quick, super casual. I didn't introduce you to the audience. Just >> let them know who you are.
>> Oh, I'm Vincent Marquet, the owner at JR and Sunshine Snow.
>> 67 tractors sitting on the lot. 9,000 homes you're servicing right now.
>> That's it.
>> And just an absolute beast of an operation here in Ottawa. So, they they got the whole region taking over over here. and they got a really cool, very clean, organized outfit that we're going to be touring for the next couple days and we'll make sure we take you guys along for the ride. Thank you, Vincent again. Appreciate it, man.
>> No problem.
>> So, this is another company you guys just acquired.
>> Awesome. We bought their winter and summer.
>> Okay.
>> They have their landscaping division, but they're moving out of the yard here.
>> Hey, I'll come shake your hand, bro.
What's your name?
>> My name is Zach, bro.
>> Zack, nice to meet you, bro.
>> I'm looking at you every day, bro.
>> Thank you, man. Thank you.
>> Have a good one.
>> Yeah. We'll see you soon, bro.
>> We acquired their lawn and snow. We kept their landscaping and gardening. So >> cool.
>> We tried them out in the yard for a year. They're moving out.
>> Okay, that makes sense. Is this diesel?
>> Yeah, >> we have like a hot seat.
>> It has four wheels, crate. It has a hot water boiler on it. This is hot water, right?
>> Yeah.
>> Similar, but not as This looks a little bit more heavy duty, but yeah.
>> You guys met?
>> No.
>> Okay, let's go read.
>> Okay, let's go.
>> Been with 25 years.
>> He's your mechanic.
>> He's a legend.
>> 25 years. There's no JR without Nick Cavville.
>> Really? Eh, >> he's a mechanic.
>> Yeah, he's number one.
>> Look at that setup.
>> That's a nice setup, too. Yeah, that's custom for sure.
>> What's up, boys?
>> What's up, boys? How you guys doing?
>> Love you.
>> Good to meet you, man.
>> This guy is super camera shy.
>> Oh, that's okay.
>> I love I love I love how clean and organized it is right now. What's his name again? Nick.
>> Yeah, Nick.
>> Nick, >> this is all him.
>> Yeah, nice.
>> Nice to meet you. Wolf, >> don't be shy, bro. You're good. You're good.
>> Here.
>> Get him warmed up.
>> He'll walk you through a little bit what you guys are going to do, >> guys. Oh my god.
>> It's really Oh my god.
>> Admiring the shop for a second here.
It's nice. Really nice. I love how much room it is, man.
>> Okay, guys. We're getting to a wrap here on today. We just dropped the trailer.
Okay. Die's a little bit cleaned up. It looks a little bit better. Thank you JR and the lawn and snow team here. They cleaned it all up nice. Nice for us. The rigs are all sitting quiet. Winter's over here in Ottawa. Okay, spring is here. Not back home in Sus, unfortunately, but it will be soon. Uh, we're heading out. We're going to eat dinner right now. We met some of the staff. We were chopping it up, talking business. We didn't get a lot of action for you guys watching, but that's why I'm telling you right now that you need to hold on. Stay tuned. Make sure you stick around for the rest of the vlog.
We're going to be starting a brand new video tomorrow morning or we're going to kind of just transition this video into tomorrow morning and bring you guys along for a little bit of a tour, behind the scenes stuff. Eric's going to do some crazy shop stuff as well with their mechanics here. And we're just going to have some fun tomorrow and bring you guys along for the ride and show you what Ottawa has to offer and what Jr.
Lawn and Snow is up to here in in Ottawa. So stick around, guys. Enjoy.
And uh let's go eat some dinner. Okay.
Okay guys, we just finished up dinner and we got to the Hard Rock. This is where we're staying. Vincent from JR put us up here to stay for a couple nights, which is awesome. So, shout out to JR and shout out to Vincent for making it happen, man. We're here. We got the DY.
It's still in one piece, baby. And it's been a lot of fun driving all the way from Susain Marie down Ottawa here. JR so far has been a lot of fun. And I can't wait to bring you guys along for the vlog tomorrow. And yeah, man. I guess we're staying at the Hard Rock tonight, so it's pretty exciting. This place was just built a couple years ago.
Uh there's blackjack tables downstairs, poker tables, slot machines. We don't got this back home in Sus Marina. All we know, all we got is Bush. Bush and moose. WE'RE AT THE HARD ROCK, BABY.
OKAY, GUYS. We're back. We're carrying this video over from yesterday to today.
Uh we're going to be spending the entire day here at JR Lawn and Snow in Ottawa.
We're taking care of some business on the Aurora side. JR is one of the biggest snow removal companies in all of Canada, quite literally. And uh they are going to be joining us on the software side through Aurora. So Matt and I are going to be taking care of some business. We got Eric taking care of some business in the shop for Northern Snow where they're going to be showing us just a little bit more bulletproofing that we could do to the tractors. So stay around for some shop stuff there.
We're going to hit the boardroom for some work and then uh we'll go play some games later. There's a couple things that I wanted to do. He was going to walk us through the yard and and ask us uh which tractor was his oldest one and see if we could point it out and we'll have some fun. We'll bring you guys along for the ride. Okay, let's head inside. Eric, what do you got going on today? You got the full mechanic suit.
All the way from Susan Marie.
>> All the way from Susan Marie.
>> Work boots on. First time having a Starbucks. First day on the job. We were late today. So, we just got to let everybody know that. Oh man, I didn't know you had a coffee machine like that here.
>> That's beast mode.
>> This all the time. Yeah, you can open up. Take a peek.
But >> that's a nice setup. Yeah.
>> What do you want to do here?
>> I'm going for a test drive.
>> How was it?
>> Honestly, man, she's smooth right away.
Like the biggest differences you're going to notice right off the bat is obviously the blower being 5 to 600 lb lighter on the rear end. Huge difference. I'll talk to you about it right away. I don't know how how the ride was for you, but I'll tell you about mine first. Obviously, the blower being what, probably 500 lb lighter, I'd imagine roughly is what it is. It handles better. The traction the traction on the road feels better. It's not jumping up as badly on the rear end as that is. Like you don't you don't really feel it as much. It's very light.
I mean, all around it's just obviously the better the better thing to have on the rear end is to have a lighter blower. Doesn't feel like the rear end's kind of I mean, the front end's lifting, you know? You felt that in ours a little bit. So, what can you say like what's like the the feeling you have in there?
>> So, accumulator set up perfect.
>> It's perfect accumulator >> for the weight of that blower. Yeah, accumulator is perfect.
>> Yeah.
>> Nice ride. Like you don't feel the blower like slamming slamming the front tires off the ground. But yeah, just too heavy.
>> Too heavy.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Bottom line, >> that's it. It's just too heavy and it just like like breaks everything because it's too heavy. But >> is this your gravel packer setup here?
>> It's not even a gravel packer. It's Yeah, just better pressure on the ground. Yeah.
>> The weight of just the back dragger. You have pressure down.
>> So you you guys make the guys have to put those down.
>> No, they don't have to. No, >> it's just there for a better scrape.
>> Yeah, >> that's kind of smart.
>> Yeah. Yeah, bro. It does like Look, watch.
So, kind of like the the gravel packer setup what they run here is similar, but they do it for better scrape rather than the pack gravel, which is kind of funny.
It's a little bit different. Well, we're hearing it from uh the mechanic himself, Nick. It's not a bad ride.
>> He's talking about our machine that we brought up here from Susan Ray over there. He brought it for a little bit of a ride, tested it out. The accumulator is set right. So it is dampening the ride of the blower quite nice. He does feel a little bit in the front end that that little bit of a lift. We did buy like oh six totes of Agriim which is almost like another form of calcium but a little bit better for the rims. And we're loading the front tires on all of our tractors this summer to make sure that we have that little bit better traction during the winter and we keep that front end down. As for the blowers, man, it's been going through my mind all night last night and now I'm thinking about it again this morning. like something to sleep on, something to still think about, but like in reality, there's no way of us changing all of our blowers out. I wish that we could take all the packers off because I do personally believe that running the 82in Cyclone by itself on the back of the blower without the packer is good.
You're right at that max weight limit for the L660, but you're still in the neighborhood of being safe to use that blower for the rest of the tractor's life. The problem is when you add 300 lb right to the tail end of the tractor, as you guys know, with our gravel rollers, that's where we're having the problems now. That's why it's putting a little bit more stress on the rear end. But in reality, it's not horrible either. Man, we've had a lot of snow shifts with only breaking like one or two pins over 60 tractors in the entire yard. But then we have snow shifts where we've broken like 5 to 10 rear end parts in the tractor. We have a total what, Eric? Five splits this year.
Five tractor splits.
>> Yeah. So, >> it's not the split like there. What do you guys have like a split a year?
>> Yeah. Not since we put the sub.
>> Not since you put the same split as you're talking about.
>> No, >> it's not the same split.
>> Different split.
>> We have had two of those splits. That's a That's a middle like rear end split.
Like >> kind of what just happened to the John Deere. I think that's what it was. Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Some improvements to make, guys. That's all. That's all it is. And it's great because going through issues like this just causes us to innovate and bulletproof more and just run a better fleet and operation. That's another big reason we're here. You know, we kind of made this a two for one. We made this a bonus for Northern Snow so that we could learn from some experts in the industry and see how they're maintaining their equipment, how they're bulletproofing their equipment and how they're making it as robust as possible for long winters and to keep them past their warranty life. And then at the same token, we're also here to to seal a deal on on working with JR and getting them fully on board with Aurora software for their residential business and commercial. And guys, remember 9,000 driveways they're doing with 67 tractors. It's absolutely incredible.
And then on top of that, their commercial side is even bigger and they're going to be powered by Aurora this next winter coming up. And uh we we can't wait to do business with them. And I'm also really happy to be here to learn from them as well. So thank you to the JR team when you guys watch us later. Uh you guys run a of a business and it's been really cool so far. But we're just getting started. But for now, just keep enjoying our time here at JR Lawn and Snow, baby. Okay guys, you know, we're back at JR Lawn and Snow.
And this is just a friendly reminder for everybody watching. And I'm not trying to get salesy on you guys, but this is a really big giveaway, okay? $7,200 in value is going to be going to one of you guys watching. And listen, when I first started my business, I only wish that a software like this existed. And I'm telling you guys that from the bottom of my heart as an absolute truth. We built something really special for anybody interested in getting into the lawn or snow industry, whether that be residential or commercial. And we're giving away a free 12 months on the Aurora plan. our max plan, which is the best plan that you could get. Comes with five operator seats and a ton of other features that I'm not even going to get into because you need to scan right here. Make sure you book a demo. And when you book a demo, we're going to pick one qualifying winner that is either starting a business or in business to give one full free membership away for the entire year.
Guys, you're going to absolutely love it. And I'm really excited to see one of you join on board. Let's have some fun, man. We're here at J.R. Lawn and Snow.
You guys know this is my passion and seeing this many tractors and a beautiful streamlined fleet and how organized it is and learning from some great guys like like the team here at JR is just this is awesome, man. I'm just like so happy to have this opportunity, happy to make connections and social media is the best thing ever. And I always got to remind you guys watching right now that listen, my journey has been incredibly different because of you guys. And you know, life is changing, business is changing for us, everybody's lives is changing for us with creating content and being able to meet so many great people, influence great people, and just do a lot of amazing things. And I just got to say from the bottom of my heart real quick, guys, honestly, I love you guys to death. And just like thank you for making this possible right now because you know J.R. Lawn and Snow, maybe they wouldn't have given me the time of day if we didn't have a good social following and made an impact in the industry and kind of proved ourselves, right? You know, we proved ourselves. Vince has been in the business for a lot of years. This business has been around for 25 years.
And, you know, I'm just a newbie here, right? I just got into it 6 years ago.
So, I'm still kind of fresh to the game.
I'm still a little bit wet behind the ears. I don't got my decade under the belt yet. It's coming up soon. And a lot of guys like this just would not give me the time a day if we weren't making content, I don't think. So, I think it really proves who we are. And it just wouldn't be possible without all you guys. And I just got to set that friendly reminder. Love you guys. Enjoy the video. Oh, and I'm going to shut the up. Okay, so let's head inside. Is that hydro?
>> Yeah, >> right there.
>> Yeah, it's from the lines. Uh, >> you could smell it. It smells burnt a little bit, eh? I've just had so many like horrible memories of that smell and a crack rear end >> like together as a combo.
>> Hey, now bring back nightmares.
>> Oh yeah, the boys are going to get hard at work here. We're going to set Eric up with some cameras. And for everybody watching right now, make sure you stick around. We're going to be going to see some of the commercial assets.
>> Yeah, we're going to go to the snow dump and we'll show you sunshine.
>> Yeah. So this is just like if you could explain to everybody just like one small kind of outfit.
>> Yeah. So JR is 67 tractors. We do about 9,000 laneways. Uh that's our residential firm and for Sunshine we have about 26 loaders and we're servicing about 350 parking lots across the nation's capital. And then we also house a snow dump on St. Lauron where we're holding about 19,000 triacal load equivalent. So we'll be able to show you a little bit of stuff today. And >> so for everybody watching, this is important for the audience watching right now. This is just like uh he told me yesterday it's kind of just like for fun.
>> Well, not fun where you started.
>> Not for fun. It is where you started, but I guess I should say like it's it's not the same as the other business by Miles.
>> No, it's not >> a whole different beast.
>> That's it.
>> And I'm sure that a lot of people would appreciate that watching right now because I think there's a lot of guys that are in the commercial space, but they watch cuz like it's kind of foreign to see the residential content, >> but there's a lot of guys that love commercial that watch the videos. So, I think this is going to be cool for them to see.
>> Yeah, they'll be pumped.
>> Yeah, I'm excited. I'm excited. We are in the nation's capital right now.
Ottawa for everybody watching.
>> Everybody's got the sweet Fords, man.
What's going on? Just Ford everywhere.
>> So, these guys are probably all cleaning this stuff, huh?
>> Look at this. Now, we're on the commercial territory. This is sick, man.
>> This here, this guy's name is Jorge Senior. That was my first ever LMA guy.
>> Jorge.
>> And that's >> What's up, bro?
>> What's up?
>> How you doing? All the way. All the way from Sus Marie, bro. Came just to see you. No English.
>> I don't know English.
>> I wish I wish I had Eric with me.
>> Yeah, we'll bring him over.
>> Good. Get Oh, man. Eric would have been a blast to have here.
>> Yeah. You thought that was >> I thought I had him, you know.
>> Oh, no.
>> Uh, sorry. No speak English. Like, I've heard that too many times.
>> So, we'll pull back around. I'll grab >> Bro, this is so impressive. Oh, yeah. We got to get out here. Man, I am like like JR was like obviously really impressive, but this is crazy, bro.
>> Oh, this will be nuts.
>> This is crazy. What do you got there?
>> I was not expecting this at all. No, >> I was expecting like five, six loaders.
I didn't understand how big, >> bro. This is crazy, bro.
>> Five, six loaders.
>> I don't I don't know. That's like our big outfit back home.
>> Lose it here.
>> I really want Dan to walk you through us. He's a hardcore Frenchman.
>> Too many Fords around.
>> Oh, >> yeah. Honestly, I've been They've been growing on me. They're all good trucks.
This guy, this is a nice truck.
>> This is Dan's. He cleans his He has like a pass at Halo Car Wash. Yeah.
>> 50 bucks a month. I think he goes three or four times a week.
>> Yeah. It looks >> addictive.
>> It looks so beautiful.
>> Oh, he loves a clean truck.
>> Like like it look Yeah.
>> You'll never see my truck look like that.
>> No. Like clean like that?
>> Never.
>> No. No. Me neither, bro. I haven't washed mine all winter. Not once.
>> So, on the way to his house, this is where he stops and gets it clean. It's It's like going to Timmy's for him.
>> Okay, dude. I was going to say like this this thing looks beauty. Yeah, >> that's awesome.
>> Dan, they're admiring your freshly clean truck.
>> Yeah, brother. It looks good. Nice to meet you, Stephanuchi.
>> Likewise, >> Matt. Nice to meet you.
>> Lucas, nice to meet you.
>> Hey, boys.
>> What an operation here. We haven't seen much of it, but the yard looks good.
>> Yeah. Yeah. We're in cleaning mode right now. So, >> that's awesome.
>> It's a nice day to be touring the yard.
>> You guys uh storing everything away for the winter or you just leave it right where it is?
>> No, no, we store it away.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Some of it stays, some of it goes.
I guess we'll go through that now.
>> Yeah. So, all our stuff, either the L660s, all loaders, like I'd say 95% of it gets put away in a barn in a farmer's field. We want no sun exposure on this.
>> Yeah.
>> So, we treat every equipment the same.
It all goes to the same spot location.
>> And then as the guys go and pull stuff in, we'll work on it throughout the summer. But Dan will walk you through it. Maybe we'll start just from just start from the left and we'll walk all the way around.
>> Show them everything.
>> Yeah. Let's rock and roll.
>> So, wait, you are you guys partners or like you manage this whole operation or manage?
oversee I guess the entire operation.
We'll start here in this shed over here will hold anywhere between 500 and 650 metric tons of salt. Um >> 500 to 650 metric tons.
>> That's right. Wow.
>> So right now our guys are working on car or uh picking up all our salt bins from our sites. We have about 1,300 salt bins across all our sites. Uh 320 commercial sites in total across Ottawa. The goal right now is to um pick up all the bins from sites. We empty the bins out, clean them up. We stock them here for the summer. All the bins on the right here are the ones that are broken. So, the guys go through those and we start fixing those, get them ready for uh for the next season.
>> Sweet. Where do you guys buy your bins?
>> Uh different couple different suppliers this year. We'll go through um site one, I believe, is the name. Site one. Yeah.
So, here we have all our fuel.
Truthfully, we should have like 20,000 liter tanks, but the way our setup is, we're limited to 34,500 liter tanks.
>> Yeah. Like that ain't enough.
>> That's because we don't own the land.
Yes.
>> Ah, >> yeah. So, the landlord is uh >> So, we we even have more tanks in this just for the fuel. We have more than >> I didn't see I didn't see we didn't really do a tour there.
>> Okay. Well, I'll tell you when we get back.
>> We'll have to do We didn't really do a JR tour.
>> No, we'll get there. Um, so yeah, here the fuel truck comes twice a day.
Morning and at night. We'll go through six to 7,000 liters a day of diesel >> really when we're pushing when all our loaders are out.
>> Yeah. So this one's the collar diesel.
That's for heavy equipment. The middle one is for uh clear diesel and then we have gas for the pickups and sidewalk equipment.
>> Awesome. Now you run dyed in the tractors or you're not allowed.
>> Yeah, you can. Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Only.
>> So all equipment is dyed fuel and then the clear is for all our heavy trucks and our 550s.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Cuz you get pulled over. You can't uh you can't be doing the D. Oh your major.
>> Exactly.
>> Okay, cool. Let's Let's get into this.
>> Wow, this operation's exceptional. I'd like to see everybody fire off in the comments and I want to ask them what they think of this. This is a real commercial operation here. It's it's incredible.
>> Over here, we have all our sidewalk equipment.
>> Yeah.
>> Obviously, right now we're in spring cleaning mode, so everything's kind of out and about. It's kind of a mess, but typically speaking, all our sidewalk equipment is going to be lined up here.
We use vent tracks for 95% of all our commercial walkways. up on the board there. All our crews are colorcoordinated and numbered so that each uh each crew knows exactly what they're using. Um if if the equipment comes back and it's damaged, we know who's damaging it. We know who's neglecting our equipment. So, it's just an easier way for us to keep track of of all our equipment.
>> You pick at your properties or no? Cuz I see pickets up there. You pick at your properties >> like with the sleeves?
>> No.
>> No, no. You don't want anybody to know.
>> Liability.
>> Yeah. Okay. I seen sleeves. That's why.
>> Yeah. The sleeves. We have some uh condominium properties. that have residential laneways. That's why we have the >> Okay, makes sense.
>> Okay. So, you can put you can put plows and you can put mowers on them. Is that why you you stick with these?
>> These these models, they only make them for snowmobile operations.
>> Okay.
>> They have vent tracks that you can sit on um that you could use for like a plow, but really for visibility, I'd say 80% of the snow removal guys on the commercial side, they'll use uh Komodo F series, those tractors. Uh the problem that we found with those numerous things, number one is visibility. When you're sitting in a cab during tight corners doing commercial properties, especially around windows and when your ascent is swinging, guys tend to hit uh doors, windows, corner of the building.
So we found a lot of damages was happening. At least I found. And then number two for these ones is the guys aren't in and out of a heated cab. So they don't get as tired. They're just always out in the cold, which I know it sounds crazy, but for the operator, it's a lot easier for them to always just be outside rather than be in and out, in and out. They don't get as lazy.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> And honestly, just feedback from the operators, they they always rather the vent track. So, these are super versatile machines. They're easy to operate. Um, >> it's kind of like our Mammoth. We just got an Aryan's Mammoth.
>> Very similar.
>> Yeah. Is this uh gas combustion or diesel?
>> Gas.
>> How much one of these run?
>> 25 grand.
>> 25 grand. Can you put a blower on the front or plow only?
>> Both.
>> Both.
>> So the blower is belt driven. Um and then the plow is obviously just hydraulic, but >> so just like controls. This is like forward reverse on here.
>> Yeah.
>> This is for just the plow angle.
>> The plow. That's the handbrake. This is your PTO for your blower. And then this will be for your your lights. Newer models. We have a couple. The ones with the black uh the black top 13.
>> Oh, it has heated handles. But honestly, that's really the only difference. Those ones also have a Kawasaki engine.
They're harder on gas. We find that the older models. Um, and there's a rumor that these are going to be stopped. Vent track's going to stop producing them.
So, we're going to have to start buying the used ones cuz we have no issues with these guys.
>> You really like them, man?
>> Honestly, the new uh Arens that they gave us to try. Really cool. Really, really, really cool. a little bit, I think, of a longer footprint than this, but it was it's quite a quite a sweet unit if you're into the uh sidewalk stuff for commercial.
>> So, these are all the 908s that we have.
That's like the smaller loader that we'll run. A CAT 908. Those are really good for condominiums when we're pulling parking stalls.
>> Yeah. More the smaller spots, eh?
>> Yeah.
>> You do like little like commercial complexes and stuff with them, too.
>> Yeah, we do. We try We try not to do like too small of an area, but more often than not, when we have a road, if we're driving by a site, we might as well just hit it. I'm going to pause for one weird question. What's up with just the one K Cabota?
>> That's our salt loader. So, that's what we use in the yard. They're just cheaper to buy and for a loader to just be That's like our yard machine.
>> They're a great yard load, right?
Honestly, >> it hasn't let you down.
>> No is loading salt. Like that thing gets beat to it's idling all night longus 30 weather full of salt. The thing's no issues.
>> How's the cat in the cold?
>> It's good. We have no issues. We don't even plug our machines to be honest with you. They start our mechanic shows up an hour before the shift to start all the equipment. So when the boys show up, the the equipment's nice and warm. We don't really have any issues.
>> Are you guys >> These things have to stay inside otherwise they won't start.
>> Really? Yeah.
>> They're all gas.
>> Yeah. Gas. Okay. So the this is your bread and butter for the smaller places.
>> Yeah. 908. So we'll do Yeah. It's definitely a catch.
>> Oh yeah. It's branded and everything. I couldn't >> We'll do condominiums with these. A lot of the parking stalls as well. We'll pull the spots, but we also pair the small loaders with the big loaders on commercial lots. So these guys will go around do all the detail work. We want our big our big machines just pushing >> big pushing waste time lose >> I love how streamlined it is. It's nice.
>> Yeah. So all the 908s are parked here.
Then we go up to the 910s or 914s. These guys tend to have their own list by themselves. It's kind of a mediumiz machines which >> we think it's the most versatile all around. It'll put big volume. It could load trixles.
>> So sorry. Uh just for model numbers again. This is what again?
>> These are Cat 908s. 9008s.
>> Yeah.
>> 910.
>> 910s to 914.
>> And then what's your biggest size?
>> Uh Kamasu 320s.
>> Kamasu cat. Does cat go that big too?
>> They do. We honestly we prefer Kamasu for the >> for the big boys.
>> Yeah. Two main reasons. We haven't had any issues with them so far and the cost to purchase it's just they're cheaper.
>> Cool. Nice to meet you Stephanie.
>> Nice to meet you Anthony.
>> Nice to meet you, bro. Guy was asking me about engines.
>> I was just wondering is is there any sort of specific cat model that has a K Cabota engine in it or is that on the skid steer?
>> Most of them do.
>> 908s run a it's a 3.3 uh 3300 series K Cabota engine.
>> Yeah, >> it's a four-cylinder K Cabota. When they switched over to the bigger series like the 914s here, those run a Perkins engine.
>> A Perkins. It's cool. Like nobody knows that. That's that's amazing to know.
Like Kabota makes a good engine, man.
>> Yeah, exactly. A lot of their stuff like in the cats are just rebranded from them. So all the smaller stuff Cat doesn't do, it's all subbed out to like Kabota or stuff like that.
>> I'm I'm excited to talk to a guy that knows the equipment. So I want to ask uh what's the most reliable piece here that just like never lets you down?
>> To be honest, loader wise, when you're going into the bigger stuff, those tamas are >> they're tanks.
>> They're tanks. You can't kill them.
We've had some that are 12, 13 years old. They they're up to 8,000 hours.
Zero need for maintenance. Small minor stuff. And even those 908s, if you're going into a compact machine, those 908s, like they'll they'll live for years without needing much maintenance.
>> Regular oil changes, if you keep up with that small maintenance, they don't need much.
>> Yeah.
>> So, they're pretty good. Pretty good machines.
>> The Kamatu are Japan. Japan built.
>> Yes. They're Japan company, but they're built, I think, >> Germany, >> I think. So, >> Europe somewhere. Yeah.
>> But it's owned by the by Japanese.
>> Yes.
>> Wow. Kamasu, >> on the left here, we have uh that's our grit shed, which transitions into our >> It looks like an episode of Breaking Bad in here.
>> Over here, we do our undercoating. So, all our oil spraying.
>> We have it set up.
>> Nice. Nice. We're We're big into that, too. Yeah. I got to say the the equipment, both JR and here, your guys' stuff is premium. Like premium premium.
Looks like a deal dealer dealer ready for sale. Brand new. Like from here, it looks great.
>> That's the standard.
>> Yeah, that's awesome. So full full undercoat spraying in here. I like how you guys keep it confined. Eric would really appreciate this right now.
>> Yeah. So it's super simple. It's just a tote with a pump on it. We run power to the box, so everything's contained. We don't get oil spray everywhere in the yard. We don't track it anywhere. We got the guys and >> they go hard. So, you do all the JR stuff here, too?
>> Yeah.
>> We service them throughout the summer.
We'll do batch of the tent, then we undercoat them, ship them back out to the bar.
>> Yeah. We used to undercoat before, then the mechanics we got pissed cuz they're all sloppy, full of oil. So, now what they're doing is everything gets washed first. We put them to the storage.
Before they go to the storage, they go through the shop. We make a list of what the equipment needs. We buy all the products that they need, the parts, whatever.
>> Wow. Then they go to the storage and then as Anthony brings them back or I guess the the boys at JR.
>> Yep. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Um they get fixed and they come here for the final spring and back to storage till winter.
>> That's perfect.
>> Which unit do you want them to drive?
>> Biggest one.
>> Biggest one.
>> You want the blower or a blade?
>> No. Blower on the front for sure. That's m That's mandatory.
>> Speaking of blowers, we have four of them. We have three D65s. Probably going to buy another one this summer.
>> So I want to ask everybody watching right now. I'm about to hop in a Kamatsu 320 with a big D65 Laroo on the front.
And I want to ask everybody watching right now, all my beautiful Americans, everybody from Canada, maybe you're watching from Norway right now, what is your loader of choice? If you had to pick one, which one are you choosing?
This is my first time driving a real loader. I've driven some smaller ones back in the last couple years, but I've never driven a loader this size.
Actually, this one time, my good friend Ryan Posi uh back home in Sus Marie, he picked me up in a massive loader. It was actually bigger than this, and I can't remember what it was. It was an old John Deere, but this is my first time like really really running a loader. And uh we're going to we're going to blow some snow, too. So, look at this. In the back here, you can see them chopping up the big snow pile. You see the the kamatu over there with the loader bucket on the front. And he's chopping the snow up for me. And we're going to go back there and we're going to let this Laroo eat. I'm excited. So, you'll turn the augur on rods. You're going to see the augur start. Okay guys, we got the Laru fired up. Kamatu's warmed up and we're ready for business. We're going to fire up the augur first.
Heat up here.
Guys, all I got to say real quick is this 320 Kamasu with this Laru D65 365 horsepower Cumins on the front is an absolute absolute monster.
Okay, I'm about to let this thing eat again. We got one last pile and we're going to have some fun here. Okay, stay tuned, guys. This has been an absolute wild ride here at Sunshine Snow Removal in Ottawa. What an operation. My god, that was crazy. Like insane. That's got nothing on a cyclone, I'll tell you that. That's incredible. That was my first time really like running a loader, so I was just kind of trying to figure it out. But it's pretty simple. Kind of just reminds me of like a bucket on the front of a tractor. Same idea. Same same concept. Yeah. But the one thing that really tripped me out is like uh like the maneuverability of a loader is so much different than a car just cuz like the whole front >> articul.
>> Yeah. The the articul I was like, "Wo, this is weird."
>> And I was trying to line it up and it was tripping me out. But I figured it out at the end there.
>> Oh, for sure.
>> Well, dude, thank you for that, man.
That was that was awesome, bro. You guys are great. Man, man, that that means the world. So, I heard that they call uh Quebecers like the snow gods of of the world. Is that true?
>> I hear that. I think Ottawa >> would you guys take the crown on that or no?
>> Uh not for all of Canada, but for Ottawa, I think we might be able to take the crown.
>> I know, but they always say like Quebecers make the best snow equipment and like they're the snow guys of the world. Like I think that's probably true. No, >> I think they definitely taking the lead on innovation in the industry. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Like anything snow like Quebecers are are are the ones.
>> Exactly. Like I mean for North America I think.
>> Yeah. Nice for sure.
>> Yeah. It's incredible.
>> Hey, what's nice to meet you?
>> What's up, bro? Me and my mom watch a lot of the videos.
>> Oh, you do?
>> Thank you, bro. I appreciate it, man.
>> My mom's Italian. Italian here, but her siblings were born.
>> That's awesome. What was your name?
>> Cameron.
>> Cameron. Nice. We get a picture in front of the That's my setup. I run the roof.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. That's what you run in the winter.
>> Yeah, I run the the 90s. Lower 90.
>> The one I was in.
>> Yeah, the one Oh my god. I got you mine.
I got you, Mike. This is >> Oh my god. Let's do it. Let's do it. So, he watches the YouTube videos and and the rig I was in that we were just blowing snow with the big D65 Laru with the 320 Kamatu. That's his rig. And he's a he's he's a subscriber.
>> Yeah. Yeah. I'm a subscriber, >> man. I appreciate you, bro. Thank you.
Let's take a pick right here.
>> Yeah. Can I give you my phone?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Let's do it.
>> Yeah.
>> Cameron.
>> Cameron. Big Cameron. What's your last name? Cameron.
>> Uh Jones.
>> Jones. Nice. Your mom's Italian. You look Italian.
>> Thank you. Okay, sweet. Let's do it, bro.
>> That's awesome.
>> My man, bro, Cameron, >> I wish my buddy Gio was here. I have another buddy is full of full full Italian and he me and him work together in tandem some of our sites and we have most of that night we run our headphones and we just talk and we're always talking about >> I love it, bro. Thank you, man. I put a lot of time into doing all this stuff and I think a lot of inspiration from what you guys got going on here. This is really cool.
>> Yeah. What do you think of the fleet over there at the >> JRS is awesome, but I really like this fleet a little bit more. And I I know that's crazy to say because I'm a residential guy, but commercial is like a new world for me. So, getting to know it and getting to see the equipment and it's really cool.
>> Yeah, that's where I started. I did two years here and this is my third season here.
>> Nice. You're full time here?
>> Uh, mostly just in the winter time.
>> Okay. Summer. You got your own gig?
>> Uh, yeah. Summer.
>> Good. Good, man. Good on you, bro. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you.
>> What happened?
Oh, we're enjoying our time. I'm sorry.
Today, today I'm telling you what he's trying to >> Okay, listen.
>> Listen, hang tight. Hang tight. Has he been nice to you guys?
>> Because he gets really pissed. He gets super pissed off when he's hungry. Like, >> yeah.
>> Okay. So, talk to me. What What are you guys doing? Draining front axle oil.
>> Yeah.
>> What was it?
and he told me to like take the vegan light off, do the intro.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay, guys. We're back at the JR shop right now. We got all the boys about to eat some Greek food right now. Eric, look how ready Eric is right now.
>> I'm surprised you didn't kill somebody.
He's so hungry.
>> So, we got some boys here from the shop.
Couple guys that were out doing pickets and we're going to enjoy a nice lunch together on this beautiful Wednesday.
It's going to be exciting. This is awesome.
>> It smells good. Yeah. Let's get into it.
I'll sit beside Eric.
Okay guys, we are at the end of today's vlog and I hope you guys enjoyed it watching. Listen, I got to pause for a second to just give my hat off real quick right now to say thank you so much to the JR Lawn and Snow team. My god, Vincent, you are an absolute beauty, man. You run an absolute incredible operation. The entire leadership team, all the great people I met today. This business is serious, guys. And they truly treated us like family and really took care of us. Showed us a lot of great stuff that we're going to take back home with us. And what just a great relationship that we established.
Hopefully, we're able to get them on our software over with us at Aurora, which is more than likely going to be happening. And one last time, JRON and Snow, I love you guys to death. Truly treated us like family over the last 48 hours. And uh this is a tour I'll never ever ever forget. So, thank you guys once again. And to the beautiful audience watching, listen, this stuff wouldn't be possible without you guys.
And I owe you everything. It's why we keep continuing everything that we do dayto-day as a business. So, I hope you guys have been enjoying the video. Love you guys to death and as always we will catch you on the next one. Peace.
