RC vehicle performance depends on proper matching of power system components, including battery capacity, ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) rating, and servo specifications. The XP10 RC truck requires a 4S battery with appropriate capacity (450mAh recommended for standard use), and the Hobbywing Fusion Pro Elite ESC (120A) can safely power a 450 servo with approximately 10A of headroom. Successful RC vehicle operation requires understanding mechanical limits and driving technique, as pushing beyond component capabilities can cause damage. The key principle is that component ratings must be matched appropriately, and driving style significantly impacts component longevity and performance.

NO LEAKS W/ RTR RICH :REEFS TALK EP:102Added:
Both those dudes are are out today so you got my quiet and myself.
So welcome everybody. We're going to try and have some fun here with today's discussion. Quite frankly, why didn't I even talk today? Just to make a point of just we'll just bust it out here.
Anyways, let's see here. Let me see who we got here.
Let's see here.
>> Thursday meeting engaged.
>> [laughter] >> All right.
Throw some of these up here. Terry Barber.
What's that? Legend Muzzy?
Yeah, there are a bunch of guys in the uh Yeah, there was a lot. Not here.
Wonder if Richie will be doing episode 100 giveaway on episode 102.
Nope, it's going to be moved to episode 103. No, wait wait wait a second. Maybe I will so you guys will stay and watch.
But >> [laughter] >> well, you gave that up early. Yeah, I know. Oops, my bad.
Yeah, Reef had to unexpectedly not be here.
His plan was to do that. So it looks like we're going to have to postpone it cuz I don't know what the plan was. And then Brock also had to step out as well.
So obviously both those guys couldn't make it. So yeah, we're not going to be doing the giveaway today.
But I will talk for Reef right now and say next week.
There you go.
So I don't know what he's giving away. I know he said it was going to be something good but I don't know. Let's see here.
>> Can we can we give something away as in like a hint or something like that? You You know better than I do.
>> [laughter] >> I actually don't know what he's going to do. Ooh, SL3D. What's up, Neil?
Hey, you know what? While while we're talking about you know, he's saying what's up with the inserts. I got a question for you.
Right off the top, those new Pro-Line inserts with that rate weight that goes around, you know, pretty cool ingenious idea.
Do I wanted to get your opinion. Do you think that those will take off or do you think the 3D printing industry will develop something to work over those?
Yes. Or is it just too much crap to be used?
>> No. No, I think there's already one or two inserts made for those.
Really? Yeah, so I I like the idea. It's it's not a new idea, but I like how they executed it.
Um the only thing I've heard is like the little magnet mount is kind of flimsy, but I don't know if that was on purpose because to me like you go out on the trail, you see people running like an inch of offset, no offset, like so maybe they maybe they're flimsy on for a reason to like flex the magnets out more, push them out more, tuck them in just by bending that mount. I don't know.
Um it's definitely something, yeah, I would like to get my hands on a set just to try them.
Yeah, I was looking at a set that Reef had and and and actually and I could see where people might accidentally put them together incorrectly, but if you do put the ring on one way, they'll bind up.
And they actually won't fit, but but I think it's just a weird kind of messing with it. Um I haven't had them. I haven't seen them in person yet, so >> It's it's pretty interesting. I'm just like I said, I'm just not sure like how well they're going to take off.
It's like I said, it's not a new idea.
They're but most of the time people do weight hangers on a bearing and then make like the wheel to have like a U shape in it. So, like you're getting the same feeling whether you're doing a weight hanger or that as like just a harder inner and just a soft outer, so I think that is kind of baseline. It's just are you putting trying to put those weights on a hanger attached to your knuckle or you trying to put them in your wheel and with a magnet system.
Right.
I don't I'd be curious to see if you took, you know, whatever outer diameter of where the weight sits on those and did a weight hanger similar and just random side by side, I I don't think you would see a difference. Mhm. But, because at a certain point, center gravity is a center gravity. Your weight is either down there or it's not.
So. Right. But, yeah, it's it's cool. I like how they did it, and I believe they're adaptable to our wheels.
I think that they mount right up to our 1.9 wheels. Mhm. So, cuz it they said that um they work with the Pro-Line wheels, and then I think people are saying they work with the.8 Vanquish wheels.
Oh, okay.
>> And ours are within like a couple mil width wise.
>> Yeah, of that. So, um yeah, I'm pretty sure that would work. Interesting.
Let's see. We got some more comments here.
Hey guys, just stopping by to say hi. So Clayton.
So, is ready to rest rich or ready to retire rich?
>> [laughter] >> Uh I'd love it to be ready to retire rich, but it ain't going to it ain't going to be happening for a while.
Let's see here.
Give me the leaks.
Yeah.
And we don't have leaks. We design shocks specifically for that. Right.
>> [laughter] >> Good one.
Uh let's see here. Oh, man.
So, I can do some answers to see if it's worth it to offer or not. Okay, cool.
Yeah, I'm not surprised that he's already on that. So.
>> Yeah.
I I just to me it just seems like there's just so much room for problems. So. I I heard it described the best way I'll ever hear it described, and I'm not going to say who said this, but they said it'll be one of those things in about few years, I'll say, that it's like, "Oh, you're running those? Those were cool."
Right. And and that's it. Like, it's just going to be one of those things like, "Oh, you have a set of those?
That's cool." My fear My fear and one of the things that I think, just based on experience, is that basically they'll knowing how it works sales will be hot for the first 3 months. Yeah. And then they won't move very much after that and they'll just say they're dead.
So, unless it's continuous people using these things and they find reasons to use them, they'll be gone in 12 months.
It's just cyclical. It's just It's just part of of the turnover at the place we used to work at. It's going to be the the people that want to try it or their friends that tried it and said, "Hey, get a set."
And then other than that, it's just going to die out, unfortunately.
Yeah. Yeah.
Let's see here. What else we got? Good.
Um Flapping Lips had a good take on it. He said, "Just like the Pro Moto Pro Spec rims."
Oh, yeah. They had real spokes. They looked good, all metal, like awesome.
The people that got them got them and now I think they were blowing them out for like nine bucks or 12 bucks for a set or something.
>> Yeah, I actually bought a set cuz they were like I think I paid like $28 for set with tires and I was like Yeah. I I couldn't even bring myself to spend that much. I I tried the dirt bike. I got all the upgrades when it initially came out. I can't even turn the dang thing around in my cul-de-sac. So, I I don't It's just not for me. Well, it's funny though, too, cuz, you know, it's like you see guys So, one of the developers at Horizon was Frank Frank Root. He was the one who developed that product. Dude, he could ride that thing like it was like nothing like If you gave him that dirt bike and me an eight scale buggy and put him on the same he's beating me. Right. Like he ripped that thing. He was whipping wheelies down the street. I mean Yeah. no questions. I get it and I'm like turn Marshall.
Uh they're like you didn't make it down the first straight. I'm like yeah, I know.
Let's see here. Sweet XP compound cheaters.
Nice.
>> Nice. We got Farmer Brock. He's I don't know where I don't know where Brock is.
>> into his turkeys. Yeah, he had something going on. Yep, he went and bought a flannel and overalls. That's just his life now.
>> [laughter] >> So let's see here. He has three sets.
What does this guy say? We sold out of BTC. Okay.
Yeah. Yeah, I I they'll sell initially.
I don't see them sticking around. Yeah. Mr. Bradley Fine Line Design is here.
See >> see on the XP 10 pages is people giving their bodies and being blown away at the work. Yeah, dude. He has done so many.
He said that he basically just sees them in his sleep now. Like he just can't That's all he sees is plague bodies.
Yeah. So yeah, he does phenomenal work.
He needs to he needs to bust out some new bodies for you to get ready for the worlds.
[ __ ] Yeah, but Euro Crawl this year. Yeah, Euro Crawl not worlds Euro Crawl. Yeah.
Yeah, maybe I'll send him another one.
It is a I got a message actually. That reminds me.
Um officially the plague body is legal for performance scale in WRCCA. Oh, sweet. It's like I not I don't want to say an exception, but it's like so borderline that they're just deciding it's legal. That's cool. I mean it's not like we purposely are trying to skirt any rules.
>> No, I You know. It was actually a different mindset when I designed the pro.
I was looking at the rule book. So I got all bumpers this width, sliders, height like I try to make everything just right there. Right. I know it.
>> Whereas XP10, I was like, I'm not looking at rule book. I'm just designing it how I design it. It falls where it falls. Yeah.
>> So, it wasn't meant to be like right on the edge, but it ended up being and so Yeah. Well, I appreciate the fact that they're willing to do that because there's been times where people have just banned vehicles and other products outright and it's like, how do you get manufacturers to support these categories if you're just going to ban everything that they make?
>> Yeah. I mean, and I get it, too. Don't get me wrong. I mean, if it was a chopped top and it was 2 in tall, all right. Yeah, you're really pushing it.
But, if you're within a few millimeters or whatever might be and it's not going to be that drastic of a difference, I think they got to be able to find a way to let it go. Which reminds me, for SORCA, have we made any progress yet like on the play body? Is that thing legal or not? Have you found anything out about that?
>> no, that's that takes some work. So, Yeah. I don't know the rules. You're You're going to be helping me get my stuff ready for the nationals. So, >> I My truck's still sitting in a box.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah.
This is as far as I got. Okay.
I got it out of the cardboard. So, yeah, I'm I'm building buggies right now for WRC Rock and then once I finish that, go to that event, then I'll start on SORCA rigs. When is that When is that event again? Uh that's the first weekend of June in Grand Junction.
>> Oh, okay. All right.
That's cool.
Uh let's see here.
Um let's Yeah.
Gold members get a discount on XP10s.
It's a good question.
Uh I don't think so. I don't I don't remember if there was a discount on that.
I honestly can't remember right now for the life of me.
>> No, I do.
Let's see here. What do we got here?
It's kind of important. What's up, Brad?
Uh this says, "No, we didn't We talked to Vaughn Gittin Jr. He said no Mustangs." So.
>> [laughter] >> An RTR, I'll be dead honest, I would love to be able to do an RTR. I don't know It's a lot of work. Yeah, it sounds like on the back end. Well, I think the other thing, too, is like where does the brand sit with certain things? Because obviously our crawler, I mean, we're getting beat up cuz it was $899. It's a deal. I don't care what anybody says. If you go and try and price together other I mean, [ __ ] did you see what Reef's What was it that the Toyota Hilux that he put together?
And it was like $2,300 or something like that once it was all done with all the electronics and all the upgrades.
>> yeah, from an RTR and then putting all that stuff on top of it. Yeah, so it's kind of like It's kind of like what do you do with the RTR segment? Because I don't think we could be at a point where we could beat an Axial or Vanquish with that $299 or whatever the hell the prices are now on that stuff. But it's like, can you do an RTR and and command a little bit more money? I don't know. I don't know what people think, but Yeah, that's We've already like set the bar for quality and aluminum and carbon and hardened steel, like all the stuff you look for for a high-end build.
And it'd be like, can we do that and then throw electronics in it and ask, you know, a price? Like, I don't know if people RTR market's going to pay that.
Yeah. So, that's kind of tough. It's tough. Rich has bladder problems. That's the leak. I'll be right back. Hey, hey, hey, hey. sensor is going crazy. Okay.
[laughter] I ain't that old.
Let's see here. What else we got?
Uh, let's see.
Uh, yeah. David, you haven't really missed anything important other than the fact that Brock and Reef are not here today. Uh, we're filling in. We're not doing the giveaway today. Reef's going to have to handle that, so it'll probably be next Thursday.
We're just kind of BSing here, quite frankly, just cuz that's all we got going right now.
Uh, our steer rear steer axle's dropping soon. Need a set for the mighty pro.
Um, no, not anytime soon. Uh, we're still working on trying to get some axles done. All right. I've been uh There it's just not an easy thing to do, so we're working on it.
Yeah, even even why What did you do? You took two rigs apart?
Yeah, so I took the black edition truck that was in the video. I took the front axle off that, and then I took the front axle off my world's truck.
And so I can run buggies the first week in the next month, and then I'm taking it back apart to put those trucks back together.
So, yeah.
Yeah.
>> That's me. It's Trust us, guys. I got everybody beating me up asking for axle sets and a steer axle and all that stuff, and we'll get there someday. So, it is 10% for the subs, according to Brad.
All right, Brad. You're going to get fired if you're wrong.
Can we pre-order the X8 10?
Unfortunately, our system doesn't uh doesn't work that way. So, I can give you guys a heads-up. I know guys have been saying they're going to be here at the end of the month. It's probably going to be the first week of June. Um, so hang in there, guys. We're working to get them done.
Uh, we just want to make sure they're right.
Let's see. Option packs from also vendors sold as a package.
I think he's saying for RTR, maybe?
Like, he's saying like, sell our truck, and then you can order a package from somebody to make it an RTR.
I don't know, maybe.
Yeah, sorry, guys. I'm not keeping up fast enough with these things. Uh, when will 179s or 99s to back in stock? Saw that one a few minutes ago.
Oh, soon. Are you talking brass or the regular? Because I think the regulars are anytime soon. Brass are around the corner as well. I can tell you there's two things that we did get in stock that we've been out of. Plague bodies are in stock right now.
Um, we don't have a lot of them, but we do have some. And then 1.9 brass rings, the inserts or the the the actual ring inside.
Those are back in stock as well. We actually sold through a lot of those things. It's been pretty good.
We got uh we got Pete out there from Alabama.
He's at ECC this weekend, so Okay.
>> team driver out there for us representing.
So All right, cool.
>> before he heads back to his homeland.
Uh very close to same.
I mean, it's that's a loaded question.
Like, is it leaning just when you set on the ground? Is it leaning when you're driving? Cuz if it's driving, that's torque twist.
That will happen depending on portals or straight axles and what how many gears are in your transmission.
We'll see if we can get some more information from Andy.
>> Yeah. That that can be a few different things.
Let's see. What's the servo?
Uh I think that was What was it? 30 days? At least 30 days or 60 days. It was 60 days if I remember right.
>> Yeah, I think it was a couple months just to make sure nobody's jumping on ordering it and then jumping off.
And next weekend I bought the Beat the Creek for the first time. Loved it, but can't wait to add horse pins. Oh, yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, there was I watched Pirate Talk uh from the Rock Pirate guys Tuesday night Mhm. their live stream and they had Isaac from Axial on there confirming the dates for It's by the fire, not Pro-Line by the fire now. By the fire brought to you by Axial. That's what it is officially that I've been told.
>> [snorts] >> Oh my god, why? Now the dates are, let's see here, November, I wrote it down, not missing it.
November 5th through the 7th.
Thursday is entering at like noon or 1 for only pre-registered. I got the whole memo on this one, so. I'll do I Isaac's job for him. Okay.
>> [laughter] >> And then after that it's just Friday, Saturday event. So, um yeah, it's by the fire brought to you by Axial.
And there's no >> Okay, I'm sorry. That is outrageous, that's freaking stupid. I'm going to say it's stupid. That's the dumbest [ __ ] I've ever heard.
By the fire presented by Axial.
That dude, it's just Pro-Line by the fire. I don't understand their freaking logic.
>> it's not like Pro-Line left. They're on bad >> Yeah, dude, oh my god.
>> [snorts] >> That's that's a straight take for me.
That is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Pro-Line by the fire's been around forever. Everybody likes it.
Everybody knows it. Everybody knows Horizon owns Pro-Line and Axial.
Everybody knows there's no Axial Fest this year. Just Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah, we we told Isaac that we said go check out three peaks in Cedar City, Utah. It would be a great place for Axial Fest to come back.
Cuz they had said there there it's not completely off the table, but they said they're trying to find a place for it.
Right. So >> I believe that. Yeah.
I think that's Shout out to Bradley his full shirt.
Either of you going to collars and coffee in June? I am not. No.
I just have to check my calendar every time. I'm like, what's going on here?
Actually power.
>> [laughter] >> Uh let's see. here.
They messed it up this year is winter in most places of the country won't be able to make this year drive from my town.
Oh, man. Yeah, I can see that.
I think they ran into a bunch of issues with just there's so many events going on and and I think knowing how the back end of that works, they probably were waiting for budget allotments and that type of stuff. So maybe that's why it was kind of delayed a little bit.
12th and 13th, cool.
>> [laughter] >> I'm driving my wife's Tesla.
Free. Just energy. No comment.
>> [laughter] >> I know you hate on that.
I know what, I like I like the Tesla.
It's not bad. It's not bad. A lot of people like weird stuff. It's all right, Rich.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah, but um no, at least at least though the event is happening. So that's going to be cool. I mean, it sucks that if it will be during winter time for some people to come out, um but at the same time, too, I think the odds are we'll have a little bit cooler weather for us, you know, at that time. Um so for Southern California, that'll be kind of on the nice side.
Uh you do early October, late September, you can still be super ridiculous hot.
So, you know, but we'll see.
Yep. Let's see here. What do we got here? Jeremy, I have not messed with it.
I've flipped the dual dig overdrive.
>> I've gotten them and put them into rigs I'm trying to finish instantly. So I haven't messed with taking them apart and seeing They're trying to flip the gears so that the motor goes towards the rear.
For the scale points or putting a engine scale engine over the motor for buggies.
>> Oh. Like that. So they're trying to flip it around so that the overdrive still goes to the front, but the motor goes to the rear.
Um I Yeah, I haven't messed with it. Why?
>> [snorts] >> So.
Uh let's see here.
What does it say?
Yeah. Yeah, but he doesn't even drive RC cars.
>> [laughter] >> It Well, you know what? Look, my wife drives it. That's her car. I have all the gas cars. So, everything I drive is gas, but when it comes to some of those long drives, hey, I mean, the last time when I went >> Long drives, there's no such thing. You have to stop every couple hours with that >> No, dude. Dude. Dude. It's not even that bad. So, what I do So, like what I did when I went up and we did the testing and we went did testing with the plate or the the Founders Edition. We were doing that testing. I literally drove it to Vegas at state line, stopped, got something to eat, charged the battery, and then drove to you. Was fine. On the way back home, I just stopped in Vegas again, and that was it.
I really didn't even need to. I probably could have made it if I hadn't been driving like I do. I drive like a normal I'm convinced Teslas are for book readers.
Because what do you do for like 4 hours or three two or whatever when you need like a full charge to go to your next charge? You're just going to sit there and read a book. No, YouTube. Dude, that's that's the brilliant part. I watch Netflix, YouTube, Hulu. That's all in the car. The screen is there. The audio is good. The screen is good. Dude, I I get people hating it. I don't like Elon. I agree. He's just a 50-year-old iPad kid is what he's saying. He needs to take the iPad out of his hands.
Everybody can talk all the [ __ ] they want. I like our Tesla, but I just don't drive it very often.
Uh what's up, JJ and Sal?
Let's see if Reef >> Reef commented in the comments. Um I don't know where Reef is going, but if it's an RC event, probably not.
>> [laughter] >> I don't think so.
If it's Cars and Coffee, I'm assuming not.
That's what they're talking about. Is the crawling where is the crawling and coffee at?
Is it at Horse Power?
>> I'm assuming somewhere in California.
Yeah.
Yeah. So I see there's a little bit of love.
I would rather Okay. I would rather have a Prius with 250k on it than a new Tesla. No. Again, I I I get it. Dude, that's why my license plates on our license plate says "Yeah, we know." That's what the license plate says. I I actually got that as our personalized plate for the back of our Tesla.
The thing is it's like again it's it's a good motor transportation.
It gets around, it's fast, it's somewhat quiet. It's got the I don't have any of the self-drive stuff like Reef has self-drive. He doesn't even drive himself to work. Like he just pushes a button and drives him all the way here.
I couldn't do that. We had it for free for about I think it was for a month we had it free. I didn't trust it.
>> be hovering the steering wheel. That's what I was doing dude. I was getting cramps more so than it was like this thing's going to do something stupid. So Kind of like see a bird and swerve on the sidewalk or something. Yeah. Can you hear that beeping? Yeah.
Okay. Let's fix it. I don't have the fancy printers like you guys do so >> [laughter] >> All right. Let's see here. Oh, so it is at Horse Power's. All right. Cool.
Jeremy's here.
I like the Hyundai. Yeah, that's the Kytl House Hyundai. That thing is pretty fun too. Actually, I should take it back. I have been driving that thing for the last few months off and on. I kind of switch between cars.
Um that thing is pretty interesting because it's the N and it's got like uh all the high performance stuff on it.
You can do paddle shifting and what's cool is that it's like playing Gran Turismo.
It's not the real thing.
Um, but it does it's pretty cool. You can do like the actual paddle shifting and downshifts, upshifts. It has all the audio noise inside and it's fast as hell. They're talking about the N.
Oh, yeah, yeah, the your little Hyundai thing.
>> Yeah, but I have to give that back here at the end of the month. It's It was just a temporary quote unquote company car to use.
So, yeah, but uh What we got here?
No EV truck and trailer. Yep.
All right, let's see here.
Hello everybody from Jeep country.
All right, see. All right.
Oh, Horsemen's Cars and Coffee's at Horsemen's.
Yeah. Yeah. Again, I don't blame people for their reasons or whatever like like my buddy had the Cybertruck.
I think stupid.
Like It's And I He had it Luckily it got totaled, so he doesn't have any more and he bought himself a Raptor R. I wish the one that Tesla got totaled. Best sentence ever. Yeah, >> [laughter] >> he got totaled. And then he's like it was funny he hit me up and he's like, "Hey, what should I get?" I was like, "Just If you want a pickup truck, get a F-150, you know, the Dodge and [ __ ] They're all They're all pretty close to the same thing."
>> And if just go pick whichever 1500 you like the look of best.
>> Yeah, and it was funny because he's like, "All right, that's all I'm going to get. I'm just going to get a basic pickup truck." And then he sends me a message like, "Hey, should I get the F-150?" It was like a high-end version.
I was like, That's hilarious.
>> "Or if you want." Then he's like, "Dude, they have Raptors here. Should I get a Raptor?" I'm like, It you know, he's like, "I'll get this."
Then he goes for a test drive. Next thing you know, "Hey, I bought a Raptor R." I'm like, "Oh my god, dude." It'll never be used.
>> going to say that's the one you want to buy used in 10 years for 20 grand. Yeah.
It's the one that went to the mall and I'll buy his because that thing will never see dirt. That's fine.
Let's see here.
For crying out [laughter] loud, sake.
Oh, man.
And Mr. Cartoon, no, this is actually it was a drop from whoever makes these hats.
And it's The Simpsons. Somebody in LA, it looks like.
Yeah, it's a dad hat, so yeah, I got this one. I was pretty happy with it.
I have the other one, too. They made another one. It's like a uh like a cream color. It's got like a teal and whatever color on it, and then it has Krusty the Clown and um Krusty the Clown and uh Sideshow Bob um on the hat, as well. So.
>> I don't know who those people are. I'm a Simpsons fan, so I had to get it.
>> Oh, is that Simpsons stuff?
Yeah.
Yeah, it definitely is an upgrade from that Tesla.
Hey, good luck, Tommy. Yep, good luck.
I was just glad you had it. Yep.
I've been thinking about one of those, too. I mean, I have my Tacoma now for 8 years, and I've been thinking about that.
But And I don't know.
I think if you went from a Tacoma to a Gladiator, you'd be disappointed.
>> Yeah, that's that's what I So, I I It's funny because I think about the fact that it's like, well, solid axle, it'd be nice to be able to wheel it and have more articulation, that type of stuff.
But then, quite frankly, when's the last time I wheeled my truck? I was just going to say you wheel your truck out once a year, and it's an obstacle, not a full trail, so it's like >> Right. Right, so I don't know. We'll see.
Let's see here. RS6, oh. You could have oh. Yeah, I I know mine, I hands down, the Audi A RS6 Avant Wagon.
June has one.
Yeah, twin turbo, 650 horsepower, magnetic suspension, Brembos all four corners, grocery getter, with a warranty. Yeah, dude, that thing is badass. But they're like what? 140k, I think? 150k, something like that?
Yeah, somewhere in there. Yeah. Yeah, June bought a brand new one of those things in November. Yeah, that's like I don't know how else you get a better all around car.
Like it's it's big enough you put stuff in the back, the seats fold down, it's fast. Like it's all-wheel drive, so you can still I mean you don't want to, but you can take it on fire roads and what like Yeah.
Let's see here. Oh, let's see here. Let me do this one. Oh, that sucks.
>> Bummer.
Bummer.
Hopefully you're all right. What shock oil weight are you running in your Reese 80 mm shocks?
Um I the pistons are all the same, so I'm going to say 50 weight. Yeah.
And that's a that's in our our rigs.
What are you doing like in any of the other rigs that you might have that are not necessarily an XP 10? Do you have some other one on your other ones?
>> Um I put 50 in everything other than on my super.
I put 80. Okay. Just because it's, you know, 6-in or 6.5-in wheels and like a bunch of leverage on them. So, I just want to slow it down a little bit. But uh yeah, pretty much everything I have is at 50 now.
Got you. Yeah, buggies, um comp trucks, scale trucks. So Okay. Pretty much anything from like 4 lb to 7 lb I have 50 in.
Oh, okay. Well, there's a tip for you guys.
Cool, maybe one of these days I'll try it. Let's see here. What do we got? I had a 2015 on 35s and liked the Gladiator better.
Interesting. I got 34s on my truck, ooh, but I got 529 gears, so it actually runs pretty good.
Yeah, well, you have suspension work done, too. Like you didn't just slap the tires on.
Yeah, I did try. Yeah. Greetings from Alabama.
Yeah.
Wish I was there right now. Those guys are having fun out there at Cherokee Rock Village.
Are you guys see any stores stock an XP10? I've been to a bunch of shops in Ohio, no one has them, but they're they are Reef fields. Because they're sold out. Yeah, they're sold out completely.
We're waiting for the next batch to come in. I mentioned that earlier. I know Reef has been promising, you know, next week or two.
He doesn't know the news yet, but it's a little later than that. So, it's probably going to be the first week of June that we'll have those things in stock again.
So, don't miss out. Don't wait. We'll have some, but they're going to go quick.
So.
What else do we want to talk about? We talked enough about my car. Oh, what So, you said your car. I'll tell you my car.
I don't really have a You know what You know what I really want? What I really, really, really want? I want an '84 Toyota 4x4 extra cab on 44s.
I want >> What size wheel though? That's what loose people are or No, 15s. Like 16s or 15s [clears throat] or yeah.
Now we're talking.
Old school, mid-80s monster truck. I want to put 27 shocks on it that don't do [ __ ] Like seven Ranchos per side? Yes, that is my dream truck. That is what I want.
That's Someday I'm going to build one of those stupid trucks and and I know that they're totally useless, but I love the look of it and I remember as a kid I One day, that's what I'm going to get.
>> Oh, the boss is in here. Watch out.
Oh, is he What's he saying here?
Something about slipping on little parts.
I'm I'm See, I don't even know what he's talking about.
>> Yeah, I don't know.
>> I'm not there. So, >> [laughter] >> I won't slip up cuz I have no idea what you're talking about.
Any future special editions with the XP10? Um, I'm not going to lie, I've talked about it. I've asked Reef about it. Uh, there's a lot of I mean, it'd be kind of fun since everything's aluminum, it'd be kind of cool to maybe do some anodized axles in different colors.
Um, you know, maybe a raw edition would be kind of cool. There's There's a lot.
Um, there are no direct plans right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if Reef busts something out and sends me an email after this show and says, "Hey, get on this and let's do that." or whatever it might be.
What happens every time.
Yeah.
Morning.
>> Morning Reefers, where's he from?
Yeah, actually that's pretty cool.
Actually, so it's funny. I came a blue edition, that'd be cool.
Dual dig and gold, do it. That'd be cool, too.
I actually So, I didn't even tell you about this.
I didn't even tell you about this, but about 2 months ago, a buddy of mine who does refurbs on houses, he found a It was like an '80 Toyota lifted on It was like 38s or 35s and it had a hydraulic tilt bed.
Well, the guy wanted a 1,500 bucks for it and I said, "I'll take it." I don't even know how I'm going to get it. I'm going to take it. Now, it was pretty rusty.
Um, I still I think I still have a picture of it.
Uh, but I was like, "Okay, here's my opportunity." Now, the cab was pretty pretty rotted, but but the bones were there. Yeah, but the cab, sheet metal work, you can It's a Toyota. Go find a cab somewhere and stitch it in.
>> So, actually it looks like these are 33s.
Oh, heck, yeah. Dude, I was like, "I'll take it." The classic bull bar, too.
Yep, had everything on it. It was a It was The tilt bed didn't work, so it was stuck in that position. No, just leave it there. Drive it like Yeah, and I was like, I was like, "Dude, I will take it.
Done deal." Worked it out with him. All I had to ask him was like, "I needed the paperwork and just wanted to make sure that it would roll so that I could get it on a trailer."
2 weeks later, "Dude, she sold it."
I don't know if my friend worked it out from under me and sold it for like three or four grand to somebody. I wouldn't be surprised. He's one of those kind of friends.
Um He's like, "Oh, there's a deal here."
is what you're saying. Yeah. Dude, I was so pumped for it. I was like, it it it was missing the dashboard.
Like, someone had taken the dash out of it. Like, they were going to do something.
>> You can do just a flat aluminum dash with all your little gauges like Exactly.
So, I came close. I came close, but Yeah.
Let's see here.
Is the black edition the one going to be in stock? Yes. Yeah, we're coming soon.
The 200 is no more. Never. Only 250. Slim Reeper is in Australia.
Good morning.
That would be about morning, then.
My old little parts. I have no idea.
>> [laughter] >> I think he's talking about my old little parts. Got you. 1900 is perfect.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah, so I came close, but that Actually, I think that probably be the only thing I'd probably give up my right-hand drive Corolla would be for that that lifted truck. I would do that.
>> as that thing fit in the garage, yeah.
Well, that's the other problem, too, is like, where would I park it? Cuz I can't leave it outside cuz someone will jack it in my neighborhood. That's for sure.
>> Oh, yeah. Old Toyota. I guess I could leave it I got a friend that has a house with a big backyard. I could probably park it.
I'm going to drive it all the time. I've tried that before. Like, "Yeah, if I just store it at my buddy's." And then you never use it because it's not just there at your house. Yeah. Well, I wish I could say the same thing about my red Corolla. It sits in the garage and I haven't driven it I think like in 2 months. It's probably been sitting there. Yeah. My car's been in the garage.
Somehow dirty from being in a garage, but >> [snorts] >> I see. Anybody else Anybody got any questions for Wyatt while we've got you here?
Let's talk some tech questions, some engineering questions. What do we got?
Let me get ready for F11, F8.
That part.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah, I wouldn't doubt that. Yeah, I bet. But it's a bit far away. That's like [clears throat] my F150 I'm working on. My cousin's like, "Yeah, I just keep it at my place. I have the shop, you know, everything. We'll do this engine swap here."
I'm like, "All right, great." And now it's 6 hours away and I go up there once a year to work on it.
That's ambitious, right? Yeah, which it's safe, it's fine. Yeah.
And like, man, I look back at my phone like, man, I got this sweet engine on an engine stand just ready to go.
>> [snorts] >> And you got to get over there and get that thing done.
Yeah, I really do.
This Not that it's going to be any better, but my daily driver options right now are rough on fuel.
>> [laughter] >> A Leaf radio combo?
Don't think you'll see that and I'll tell you why. I don't want to deal with any of the CE compliance, any of that other bull. Yeah, that's There's a lot of back end work to do a radio. Yeah, it's like, you know, there's enough competition out there. I mean, it's already tough enough. You see SkyRC doing these radios that are like way cheaper than everybody else and have just as many features and it's like, dude, that is a lost battle, that's for sure.
I thought you would say Supra Mark III.
No, I'm not a big fan of Supras.
I like them.
I don't mind a nice one, but they're so popular now that you kind of see them everywhere.
And even one in like I won't say bad condition, but like not show condition or built specifically for drag or drift, like everybody's still like, "Oh, it's a Supra." Like Yeah.
Yeah.
Thanks, Fast and Furious. Yeah, pretty much.
>> But I know he's talking about the Mark III, which is the one before that one even.
>> Yeah, the Mark the Mark IV is the one you see everywhere.
>> Yeah, I I like the Mark III, too, but Yeah, I like anything that's brick shaped. Yeah. So. How do we get the servo wires out the back of a 99 micro and 79? Got to talk to Reef about that one.
>> about man, Dremel.
Go anywhere you want. What's needed to install a dual dig in a VS4-10?
I have never tried, but we do have a VFD skid to dual dig trans adapter. So, I'll start with that 3D print file.
Um I don't know if it it should fit because I was just thinking the buggy the H10 has four upper links because it's four link front rear, whereas the VS4-10 would only have three. So, the links shouldn't get in the way.
Right. So, I I would download that file and print it and it should fit.
Might be some slight modification like drive shaft length wise, but Um yeah, I I don't know if anybody's put I don't own anything vanquish. So, Yeah, me either. I'm not a great guy to ask for >> [laughter] >> Like I own some axles here and there, but I've never owned like a full rig.
So, what's Wyatt's new favorite part?
New favorite part?
Um man, I don't know.
I would I'm still I'm still on the dual dig trans. Dude, that is So, that and I know that um Logan and Connor got their bug new buggies out. They're UAC fab cars. They both put dual digs in them, cut and shut rear steer and like they've been having they've been doing some rad lines. So, I'm trying to finish up this I got this guy working on trying to finish that up so I can go run with them. Right. And yeah, that's That's probably my favorite right now. Yeah, and you know, it's it's probably my favorite, too, because it took us a while to get to that point.
Your design with that with that [clears throat] wave washer type, you know, type of engagement.
>> revolve feature. Yeah, so for those that don't know, when we were first developing that thing, we knew right away we didn't want to do the normal cogs like we've had to do with Axial and Vanquish does and everybody else cuz it's always so clicky, clankity, inconsistent, roll back or roll forward to try and get it to engage. So, when Wyatt came up with this wave thing, I was like, "What the" And it was on both sides, though. Yeah.
It was on both pieces as opposed to just the one cog and then the and what do we call What do we call it? A rev- a revolution? A revolve. The revolve. The revolve feature. So, anyways, when Wyatt first did it, I was like, "I get your concept."
Well, before I did that in my brain, I was looking at slipper pads and how much force are on those springs when you tighten them all the way, trying to convert that to the leverage of what a servo will push to see if we can match the force. So, when just do a slipper, I'm like, "No, there's this We're so far off." Yeah. Cuz it's Yeah, those springs are way stronger than you think when you torque them down. So, I was like, "All right, we got to put some sort of feature on there." Yeah. Yeah. So, so we got the first samples and when we we drove it, it was like, "All right, it engaged in one direction, but it didn't want to hold in the other direction."
Yeah, once you loaded it up driving it, it would like skip. Yeah. So, I was like, "Yeah, that won't work." Yeah. So, that took a few more months of getting the design you changed didn't take long to get done.
No, I was just trying to fine-tune like the angle and the and it's not just like a I don't know if you look at it, it's not just a straight across angle. It's actually like a con- the whole piece is concave and has the ribs in it. So, like there's more engagement towards the outer diameter as the inner diameter. Yeah. Cuz then that, you know, your outer diameter with the difference torque from the inside like you need more to hold that cuz you have more torque. And so, like a lot went into it. And then everyone's like, "It shifts." I'm like, "Yes." Yeah.
>> [laughter] >> Which is funny cuz cuz like I said, all the work, I mean, all the time and thinking about it and all that stuff that goes into it. Like people don't realize what's involved to make that happen. And it's just cool that it's successful. I mean, we have the patent pending on it, you know, we're working through that process cuz we don't want to We're still probably going to get ripped off in China. That's just bound to happen. But at least we have the original design. We actually created this thing. Like it came out of your brain and straight to, you know, manufacturing, which is really cool. I'm proud of the fact that we got it done and it works so good. Yeah. Kudos to you on that one. It's just like the Pro when you brought the Pro out that one time.
And we were >> Oh, yeah. I remember it was I still have that truck sitting on the shelf >> You still have that one? Yeah. And we were messing with it and then SCX6 and then you brought that thing out. And I was Todd, we have to make this. We're making this.
Yeah, that was There were like four different manufacturers of parts and drilling and tapping and like Yeah, well, a lot went on in college dorm room of RC building. [laughter] Outside of electronics, what is your first addition to an XP10?
Um black edition, I'm doing If you can only do one part, I'm doing probably overdrive gears.
Mhm. I would do overdrive gears over any brass. I think just the way it makes the truck handle is different than just adding weight on it. Right.
>> And it helps suck the truck down on climbs.
You're just trying to pull it up, stretch it apart with your overdrive.
>> [snorts] >> Yeah, and and it's been pretty fun, too, because when we shot the product video, it was pretty amazing to see what you were doing with the bone stock rig with no overdrive.
Yeah, it was good. It it was cool, but to think that that just add that and it makes a huge difference. Then what was the other question? Oh, a non-Reece part.
Um oh, wait.
Oh, okay. Reece part that non-Reece part um I'm doing SL3D inserts. Yeah.
Yeah. Same same thing. Yeah, cuz that's I mean, that's that's what your direct contact is with the terrain is your tire and your insert or foam. So, like if that's not working, I don't care what truck you have above that, it's not going to work properly. Right. So, and yeah, Neil's got it down over there.
We've talked plenty. I've had ideas to try and and he's I like how he does it because I'll be like, "Hey, I have this idea that this rig I'm building and I want this." And he goes, "All right, I'll make it for you. I'll ship it to you." And he goes, "Just let me know." And so, I get it and I'm messing with it and I get a few runs and I message him back, "Hey, this is kind of what I'm finding like you know, it doesn't really work how I thought it would this way." He goes, "Yeah, I've tried it before, but I was just curious to see what you would do."
>> [laughter] >> Oh, we go. All right. [snorts] Thanks. But, some yeah, one thing I did do and I think he's adopting now is a specific insert size for the 2.2 scrub.
Okay. I went into our file and made exactly the same tolerance, if you will, like difference in tire carcass to insert diameter and width and everything as the 1.9.
And that and it was I mean I'm splitting hairs here. I'm like, "Hey, can you make the outer diameter 0.73 mm bigger?" Like but it made a difference. And he tried them and he's like, "Yeah, that does make a difference." Mhm. It's just the air gap between the tire and the insert.
And so now I think he's doing those.
But that's what I have in mine and I think Reese that's what Reese just got is a set of those.
And they're just a hair bigger than I think the Traxxas insert I think is what he was saying is like universal. Okay. It's that much bigger and it Just taking that little bit of air gap out. Yeah, it makes a difference and it's exactly the same as like the 1.475 insert to the 2.2.
Like you have the same exact differences in air gap. So. Cool. Recommended upper shock position for the XP10?
I'm in the dead center hole in the front. So there's like a grid of 3x3.
I'm in right in the middle and then the rear I actually moved all the way forwards and put the stiff spring or blue spring instead of the yellow that comes with. So I'm trying that right now.
But yeah, I would say the rear is either second to front actually.
This truck's not built yet. So.
This is So this I have in the very front hole or the second one, one of those two.
And then the front I'm just dead center.
So.
>> Look at you with the fancy screws.
Yeah, you like that? I got my winch mounted. I got some gold hardware, gold shocks, gold trans, little DLX Stumpy in there.
So I'm going to make a make a mount between the motor and servo for battery and electronics and everything. So.
But yeah, this is far as I got on my founders.
That's further than mine. Yeah, I got the the gold wheel nuts we got now. Yep.
My buddy >> way, we've got seven colors of wheel nuts now. Yeah, my buddy hooked me up when he went to Japan. So.
He got me all this cool hardware. Oh, nice. I can't find here, but he brought it back from Japan for me. Nice.
See, Chaddy with Reeves said by the Beat the Creek, didn't realize how connected he is.
Oh, he's got all kinds of connections, that's for sure.
It fits in the 410, needs drive shafts.
Thank you, Jeremy. Sure.
Uh, let's see here. What if I got to I have to reference this. SAFRC said, "What about the RX-7?"
RX-7's a great car, but I'm more intrigued about the rotary engine than I am the car itself. Right.
I'd be into an RX-3 with the with those little rotaries, the old school ones.
Yeah.
So.
Nice. Let's see here.
How much those are?
I might be way behind.
Okay.
Sorry guys, we're trying to catch up here. All right. Remember someone last week asked if your standard servos can have the wire coming out of the other side.
Oh, for just putting it in the axle tube.
It's it's it's We should talk more about that. I know we were talking about wire routing.
Yeah. There you go.
Um, Keep RC Fun. Mike said, "What links did you use for the foil drive MB1?" So, I'm XP10 axles front and rear, and I used the links that he sent with it.
So, it's for like a 13-in wheelbase on Capra axles.
The only ones is the front and rears worked I I believe and the rear uppers are for the two drag axle instead of four-wheel steer, but they work fine. Um and then I used, since they're adjustable caster, I went to 10°, so now I have basically no caster in the rear. I'm like flat.
Oh, nice. So, those and then my servos tilted way up to clear like with the drive shaft.
So.
I can't wait to see that thing run, dude. That's That thing's going to be cool. I hope so. Yeah, I got the wheels and tires together, some black impacts with some raw rings and uh SL3D inserts.
So. Nice. On my my 5-year-old crawlers are almost bald.
>> [laughter] >> Oh, actually, let me grab that really really quick.
Reef's are smart, not LP. Reef's BEC, what 4S battery for XP 10?
Um [clears throat] 4S, it's for like trail running, I would say 850 to 1,300.
Hang on here.
No, it's BEC.
Hold on. Hold on.
Go ahead, Ethan. Hurry up. What's the battery?
What's the servo? No, we're just We're working here.
We're about batteries and servos. He had to He He looked it up. I understand.
Yeah, but it's it's a BEC.
Well, that depends on what system he's using.
Not with a BEC. Yeah, not with a BEC.
He has already a Reef's BEC in there.
Okay.
What would you recommend for a four for a 4S battery?
>> need to know what his ESC can draw.
Okay, send an email Yeah. to customer service and Ethan will answer your question, but in the meantime, And have Wyatt answer it. What do you think, Wyatt?
>> I'll give you an off-the-record answer right now. Okay. [laughter] Off the record.
450 and up.
A good 450.
>> Good 450 so >> Amazon $8 450 battery.
>> The Spectrum 450 4S is awesome. I've had zero issues with those with the Spectrum batteries.
Okay.
>> I run the 450 4S. I run the 650 3S and the 300 3S. I've had zero issues with BEC powered servos. Yeah.
An off-the-record answer right there.
Right. That's unfortunately though too, a lot of stuff that doesn't that works for Wyatt doesn't work for a lot of people for some reason. I don't know why and it doesn't mean our warranty policy to run a battery in the truck.
>> going to say that's off the It's off the record.
>> Because warranty is gone. Yeah.
Yeah.
>> But I think I did find the life of a scrub tire.
Look, you did what?
Like I don't think there's much life left in this scrub tire. [laughter] Holy crap, dude. Yeah, you can use those. Yeah. So I found that out. Those are pretty much paper thin now.
Okay, I can answer this one. The XP10 portal covers should be back in stock.
I'm hoping by the end of next week.
And then the knuckles will probably be the week after that.
So hang in there. We're we're we're pushing.
Randy says it's a Hobbywing Fusion Pro Elite. So those are 120 amp if I remember right. So that's a higher So that's a higher um and higher amp draw than like a lot of the silent ESCs. Right. So you're doing 120 and it's safe to say like 10 amps for the servo.
So you're 130 amps and then that you're trying to be able to pull max. Yeah. And this is where a lot of you got going on.
And then you're 4S, so I think that's man, what?
14.8 or 16.
4, I think it's fully charged.
And then I'm trying to do the math really quick.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah. I mean, I I think the thing here is is again, you're you're playing with fire.
Um the big thing is to make sure you got a good good quality battery that you're really calculating what you have involved with your stuff. And and and if you're not, you're not you're your warranty's going to be voided, quite quite frankly. I mean, like I said, we we see people always running these cheap batteries and they see a 450 and they think, well, they're all the same. They're not.
They're not the same. There's I mean, that's that's just the way it is. Yeah. The ratings are not accurate from a lot of battery manufacturers.
>> Right. Unfortunately. And that's the that's where I'll give I'll give Horizon one thing. They are so worried about being compliant and meeting the regulations and they've been sued so many times in Europe over people claiming that they didn't have their things and they've had to prove it, that they don't screw around when it comes to that stuff. So, if that it's probably why your Spectrum battery has been able to work with that just because of that fact. Now, they do have their problems with their freaking smart charging and things like that and they do goofy stuff, but when it comes to the ratings, um at least on that stuff, battery wise, they're right.
So, yeah.
>> No, they're saying 60 amp for the E-flite.
Hm. Okay. I thought it was higher than that, but All right. So, anyways, wait, that that's that that whole battery and the minimums and you know, all this power trying to pull off >> how you drive and how you set up your truck, too. Like If you If you're in a crack and you're like, "Well, I want to turn right, but mhm that doesn't look like it's going to.
I'll just try." Oh, no, but it's not moving when I'm moving. That's not going to do it. Yeah, you can force it, but as soon as you go further with your hand then you physically see your servo moving guess what? It's max faulting or max amp drawing your servo. You know, So, that is on max amps until it does what your input. Yeah, and I think that's I think that's what they I'm sorry, I didn't mean to step on you, but the the one thing is is like that's the difference between Wyatt driving and myself.
Like and it's a reason why you're a world champion and a national champion and that type of stuff. No, I mean, that's part of it. It's it's your mindset when you're driving and you know where the limits are on your vehicles. There's a lot of us that don't that we get into it and we're just like "Dude, I've got this thousand inch ounce torque freaking servo. It has to work and I'm going to keep cranking on it and make it do it." And I think that's the thing that it just a lot of times some of us we forget that part of it and that's when you run into issues. So, that's why I think a lot of times Wyatt can get away with things Yeah. that a lot of other people can't because they're not driving at the level that he's driving at. I know you're >> Yeah. you're trying to be humble and all that stuff, but >> It's just mechanical sympathy. That's what they call it. It's >> Yeah. It's just knowing what you have and how you're trying to treat it and just having a something in your mind saying "That's not working out or that's not reacting how I want, so I'm going to back off."
And a lot of people like you said, they're like, "Oh, I bought the best baddest servo or motor or whatever, so it should be able to do anything I ask."
Well, Right.
>> it's still this big.
Yeah, Rockers are a lot bigger.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah, especially too when you get these guys that are running like 10-lb rigs and 7-lb rigs and they're like, "I don't understand why I'm blowing stuff up."
And it's like and then you watch them drive and dude, I even see you guys cringe when I'm driving and I'm like trying to do something like thinking and you guys are like, "Just stop already."
You're not I'm like, "Maybe it will."
And that's again, I think that's where it comes down to is is not knowing the limits of these things and and they can take it over the edge.
Yeah, it happens. We're all trying to push the limits. Yep. So.
Let me see here. All right.
But yeah, it can get confusing if you start doing all the math trying to figure everything out. So.
Yep. Yep. So.
But uh anyways, we only got a couple minutes here. Let me see if we got any more questions.
Um I appreciate you coming on at the last second and helping bail me out of this thing cuz like I said, Reef was all sudden take can't make it, you're on.
Who do you want on? I'm like, "Oh, let me ask if you can do it."
XP 10 being so he's going to make a follow up truck really tough.
You know, I I agree to a point. I think Wyatt really nailed it.
However, there's always going to be that extra little thing that he's going to find or maybe someone else will find that we can kind of play off of and it's just it's just like anything else. I mean, I think you raised the bar incredibly.
Like it's crazy what that thing can do.
But but again too, I think that there is room for growth in the chassis and considering it's our first one. There's always room for growth and and there's even just from like if I built a personal truck to a truck that's going to the public. Like that is probably another 30%. Right. packaging, how small you can make stuff where you can put your weight. Like if it were up to me, I'd sell a truck with one shock mount in the front, one in the rear, one link mount. Like it would just be this is how the truck is. You have to run this motor, this battery. Like But that and that's some of the guys that are doing crazy light builds or like some crazy stuff, they can build to that spec cuz it's for them. Right.
There's a barrier there.
And I still think even just general public available truck, there's definitely still more on the table. I I I think so, too. And and and like it's you know, the same thing, too, is I mean, when you designed the uh Hillman with the all the cutting brakes and all that type of stuff, again that the next level of the way you did this dig was your ideas of of messing with these different types of designs.
So that's where I think that there's still a lot of growth there. I think we hit it out of the park on the our first one.
But I think that you know, I'm not saying don't go out and get one because we're not doing a different version anytime soon. But there is growth there and I think that we're going to be able to just learn more and be able to just take it to the next level and keep taking to the next level. So I think we're off to a pretty killer start. So.
