This video offers a thoughtful theological antidote to modern burnout by shifting the focus from material accumulation to spiritual presence. It effectively challenges hustle culture by arguing that true peace is found in eternal values rather than temporary gains.

What the Bible really says about contentment (and why you’re still not)Added:
We have been lied to.
We have fallen directly into the trap of the enemy.
God is calling us to something deeper, simpler, and freer all throughout scripture, and we haven't been listening.
We've been distracted, and it's time to open our eyes and wake up.
If you're new here, I'm Leah, and on this channel we talk a lot about slowing down and living an intentional, unhurried life centered around Christ.
Sorry if that first part sounded a little harsh, but I think I'm just at a place in life right now where sugarcoating seems pointless, right?
Jesus is coming back soon, >> [music] >> and I want all of us to be ready.
So, there are tons of places in scripture where God talks directly about what I'm going to be talking about today.
>> [music] >> He is very clear on how he feels about worldly gain versus eternal gain.
So, in this video [music] later in this video, I'm basically going to be going over scripture, lots of scripture, and >> [music] >> just kind of let God do the speaking.
But before I do that, I want to say something very clearly.
Satan is a deceiver. We know this. This isn't new to us.
We've all been deceived in different ways, and when God opens our eyes to that, we can tend to be really hard on ourselves.
But just like scripture says, God works all things together for good.
So, in those times where we were deceived, and we were in dark places, and we were going through our thoughts >> [music] >> God was working all those things intricately for his good and his purpose. How many times [music] have you looked back on a time that just felt very dark and heavy, and you felt very low and you look back and you go, "God, I see you in all of it. I see what you were doing in me. I see why I walked through that the way that I did."
He's there. He's working on us, and so have grace on yourself in those situations.
I was talking with a friend recently, and we have a very similar outlook on life. We were talking about places we've both found ourselves, places of questioning, of discontentment places I have found myself in more times than I can count.
An example in my life is where my husband and I are physically living right now.
For years, we prayed for God to move us somewhere else, but it was never right, and I didn't understand why. I could not understand why >> [music] >> he had us where he had us.
Over the last few years, though, we have felt him asking us to settle in a little bit more, and he gave us a really deep community here, a very small community, but of like-minded, godly people that we haven't had in the seven, well, I mean, now 10 years, but at the time it had been 7 years of living here, being married, and we just had each other, basically.
And don't get me wrong.
I would still love to move to a different house, to our own land but God has been really clear, especially in this last year, about why he has us right here, right now. It's something bigger than what I can see or understand, and I trust that.
A place that for years has made us feel stuck, [music] now brings peace.
So, going back to what I was saying as I was talking through that, I realized something.
>> [snorts] >> Out of some kind of protection of myself, what my body was trying to do I never let myself fully dive in where I was.
Like no defenses up, arms open, serving, living, giving right where God had us.
Because I wanted to move so badly, I held back.
I thought that fully plugging in might somehow keep us from the next thing.
But honestly, how silly? How silly is that?
God isn't calling us into a place yet, so I'm just going to sit here waiting for the next one, [music] and I'm not going to be happy, and I'm not going to make friends, and I'm just going to be here waiting.
How much time do we waste?
He is calling us to be fully where he has us, fully here right now to be open to serve, to love with everything we have, whether he calls us somewhere else tomorrow or in 10 years.
You make [music] your home a home. You serve in your community, your church.
You go all in where you are right now, even if tomorrow is going to look different.
Because this is what God is calling us to today.
These seasons of waiting aren't supposed to be idle.
We don't just sit waiting. [music] That's not what the purpose of it is.
We give everything we have where we're at right now, doing everything we do unto the glory of God.
We aren't meant [music] to just sit around waiting for the next thing. We are meant to be working, to be diligent, [music] to be obedient.
Hopefully you're following, cuz that was a bit of a tangent, but it actually ties into what I want to talk about next.
As we walk through this world it's really hard to be content with where God has us >> [music] >> and with what he has given us.
The world is greedy. The world loves money, and obviously we need money to live.
But when that becomes the reason we do everything it starts to feel like the only thing that can satisfy us.
We no longer look to God for that satisfaction, because the more money we have, the better our flesh feels.
So, what happens when that money's gone?
Money possessions, things everything we are storing up here it's all going to decay one day. It's going to turn to dust. It's not lasting.
And we're definitely not bringing any of it with us into heaven.
So, why are we letting it distract us so much?
Why are we letting our homes full of unused, unnecessary things cause us so much anxiety?
Our time is short. Why are we surrounding ourselves with things that don't bring us joy?
But instead bring us stress and overwhelm. It's not worth it. It's just not worth it.
Our minds are so overloaded with media, with stuff, with constant consumption wanting more, better, different than what God has already given us.
And that, my friends, is exactly what Satan wants.
He wants us so distracted and far from truth that when Jesus comes back we have regrets in our heart.
We wish we would have done more. We wish we weren't so distracted or disconnected with the blessings that God placed before us.
We wish we would have been more disciplined >> [music] >> to do better, to do good.
So for a minute, [music] listen to God's word.
Maybe he's trying to show you something today.
Matthew 6:19-21.
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:33.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, >> [music] >> and all these things will be added to you.
First Timothy 6:6-8.
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into the world and we can take nothing [music] out of it.
But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.
Mhm.
Hebrews 13:5.
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have.
Because God has said, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you."
So, why do we put our trust in things that will leave us or forsake us?
Philippians 4:11.
I am not saying this because I am in need for I have learned to be content with whatever the circumstances.
First Thessalonians 4:11.
And to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life.
You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you.
Luke [music] 12:15.
And then he said to them, "Watch out. Be on your guard against all kinds of greed.
Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.
Matthew 6:24 >> [music] >> No one can serve two masters.
Either you will hate one and love the other, or you'll be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve both God and money.
Proverbs 11:28 Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.
Proverbs 15:16 Better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble with it.
And Ecclesiastes [music] 5:10 He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income.
This also [music] is vanity.
So, if today you're feeling discontent, distracted, overwhelmed, you want to focus on God and have an eternal mindset, but you don't even know where to start because your brain just feels completely overloaded. I have a free workshop where we start with one of the most obvious distractions, our phones.
Thousands of people have found freedom just by taking that one step. And if you want to be a part of that, the link is [music] below.
So, my question for you today, will he find us ready when he comes back for us?
I'll see you soon.
