Storms and Soggy Weather Attempting To Make A ReturnAdded:
Look at this live camera shot. I was able to get it over downstream. You can start to see the storm clouds approaching. Now we're looking west, looking towards Oklahoma and Kansas.
That's where worst uh the worst of this activity is at this time. Can also see some rain coming down here, rain coming down, rain coming down. No rain out ahead of it. So, beautiful shot and also it's a sign of that soggy weather starting to work its way back into the area. Radar's pretty messy. There's lots of activity going on, very scattered, different zones of varying degrees of intensity. I'll break it all down. Let's start with kind of the weakest of everything is what just moved through Springfield. It's now south of I-44.
Kind of a band of some light showers getting closer to Highway 60. This is showers to sprinkles, not too impactful.
Not seeing a whole lot of rain with this. The heaviest impact is happening over in Oklahoma. This is the bullseye.
They're getting monster-sized hail. This severe thunderstorm warning that's just southwest of Oklahoma City has a destructive tag on it for hail size up to maybe softball, kind of similar to what we saw on Tuesday. That's what they're getting right now with some big hailstorms that are moving in. For us, we have some thunderstorms that can produce some hail. Nothing looks too severe at this moment. This kind of severe thunderstorm warning, it expires in 1 minute and the National Weather Service said they have no plans to reissue it as the hail core, the what's been happening in St. Clair County and Benton County and Vernon and Bates County was intense about an hour ago. It was producing about quarter-size hail and since then it has weakened, it has weakened and right now I'm not really seeing any hail. Maybe there's some baby-size, pea-size hail, but I think anything beyond that isn't occurring at this moment. This line of heavier showers and thunderstorms that's in Benton County, St. Clair County will start to move closer to I-44 for tonight and as it gets closer, it's going to be getting weaker, it's going to run out of gas, but still provide another opportunity that we can see some rain for tonight. It's all because of this cold front. That's what's stirring up this activity. The fuel for the bad storms are over in Kansas. They're under severe thunderstorm watch. We're not under a severe thunderstorm watch. For us, just a marginal risk of some wind and hail. And I think if you're not seeing it now, you're probably not have to be too worried for tonight as it is starting to run out of gas at this hour. This is how it plays out on FutureCast. That band of heavier thunderstorms will start to get close to I-44 around sunset, and that's going to be our next chance of some rain and could impact areas in South Central Missouri, but that's going to be it. We get past tonight, and that's our big chance of rain throughout this weekend. Sunny skies come back for Saturday. We'll see if we can get temperatures into the 80° mark.
Kind of rainfall estimates for tonight are saying about a quarter inch of rain, and I think this may be overestimating just how much we can get into our area.
So, not expecting a downpour for tonight, just a period of rain that may last for about a half hour to an hour, and then it gets out of here.
Temperatures for tomorrow, 81° getting back to sunshine as well. We have another chance of rain Saturday night into the start of the day on Sunday. The focus for severe weather is once again in Oklahoma. Looks like they're going to be getting all the bad stuff, but for us, just a chance of some soggy weather to start Sunday morning. Now, the latest models are wanting to cause by the time we get into Sunday afternoon for some sunshine to come back out, for temperatures to warm up, and I hope that's the case. Sunday's going to be Mother's Day. So, if we can finish on a sunnier note, that will be nice.
Temperatures will be a little bit cooler because of it. 80 on Saturday, only 70s on Sunday. We'll start to warm back up into the 80s once we get into the work week, Bailey. All right. Thank you, man.
