DURABILITY TEST – AMBASSADOR DRIVING LIGHT – STRANDS LIGHTING DIVISION

[00:00:05]Welcome to this durability test. We at Strands are moving up to a freedom 5-year warranty on some of our products. Ambassador, which we're going to test today, it's one of our best sellers over many years.

[00:00:21]So, today we're going to put it to the test when it comes to water. So, this durability test will be made in three steps.

[00:00:29]First step will be couple of meters from and it will simulate when you drive fast on a on a rainy day.

[00:00:37]Uh second step is maybe 1 m from. Here is where we want you to use your pressure when you wash your car. Then we will test it really close up. We know that you do this sometimes when it's extra dirty and you have bugs, but we really don't recommend it, but we still need to test it. So, let's go to the first test. Okay, so we're at 2 m.

[00:01:00]We will start from the front and move to the side, so we will get some different angles. It shouldn't be too easy for the light. Let's go.

[00:01:14]>> [music] [music] >> Okay, so this 2-m test, no problem for the light whatsoever.

[00:01:30]Of course, we tested it not that long time, but we would now we'll go to to about 1 m. This is where you should be when you wash your car. We will do it a little bit longer. The extra simulation that when you drive on a rainy day, probably drive more than 5 minutes. So, let's go to the 1-m test.

[00:02:10]Okay, so we will try and dry it off see so it's not any water inside.

[00:02:18]Visually, nothing has happened as expected. So, now we will go to the 50 20 cm test, but once again, we really don't recommend you to be that close when you when you wash your car. But but let's see what happens.

[00:02:37]So, the test rig was not heavy enough. We will put it against the tire on the car, so we have something behind.

[00:02:54]>> [music] >> See any visuals of the of any water ingress?

[00:03:13]The only thing that happened is it's a little bit cleaner than before.

[00:03:17]Just in case, we will take it back to the our laboratory and have it on couple of hours to see if we can get some fog inside. A smaller amount of water ingress can give us a little bit fog on the inside of the lens. So, we will try it a little bit extra, but so stay tuned. So, we're back at our headquarters and we have tested the light. It shows that it no water ingress is made. How we test that is we put it with the lens up and have the high beam on for like 20 minutes.

[00:03:52]If nothing shows, then there's [music] nothing in it cuz the heat will make it foggy inside if there is water [music] inside. And by the way, foggy inside is it's not a fault.

[00:04:06]It can be a little bit [music] foggy inside when the temperature changes drastically.

[00:04:12]So, water inside, that's a valid claim, but a little bit of fog inside shouldn't be a problem. The breather here [music] on the back, it's made to to breathe out the fog, the the moist air. [music] So, the light will stand really tough pressure with the water and that is what we can [music] expect from the from the roads when you drive when it's not so good [music] weather.

[00:04:40]So, this will give you a peace of mind when you drive and you use our lights [music] that uh they withstand harsh environments.
