[00:48:49]And that's what proves that we're children.

[00:48:54]No one else has this kind of affection.

[00:49:02]No mere authority figure would have this kind of compassion and mercy. These are the attributes of the father.

[00:49:18]See what manner of love the father has loved us. Holy spirit, we open our eyes and our hearts today to see aresh the love that our father has for us.

[00:49:32]As we look at the meekness of our Lord, what we see is a God who has every right to demand love and yet chooses to love first.

[00:49:45]We see a creator who is owed everything by his creation.

[00:49:51]And yet, it's because of his love that creation responds.

[00:49:58]You're not a bully.

[00:50:04]You're not an angry boss who's trying to get the most out of his workers.

[00:50:13]You hold all things together by the power of your word. And yet you're not sitting there using your words to manipulate control.

[01:03:12]As we continue to look at the father heart of God, we're going to look at a story out of the gospels in Matthew chapter 19.

[01:03:28]It's a story of how Jesus interacts with children.

[01:03:33]This isn't just a story about how Jesus acted in a moment, but Jesus, who only does what he sees the father doing, is modeling an attribute of the godhead.

[01:03:51]We'll pick up in verse 13.

[01:03:55]Matthew 19:13 Then children were brought to Jesus that he might lay his hands on them and pray.

[01:04:11]But the disciples rebuked the people.

[01:04:17]Yet Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven."

[01:04:27]And he laid his hands on them and went away.

[01:04:37]This story is told in multiple gospels.

[01:04:42]Some of them saying that Jesus was indignant and greatly displeased when his disciples tried to keep the children away.

[01:04:57]In every telling of this story, you see this line where Jesus says, "It's to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.

[01:05:12]Jesus, you were modeling the heart of your father.

[01:05:16]As you reached out your hands, as you welcomed them in, as you prayed, you're expressing the heart of your father. Holy Spirit, would you open our eyes to see what Jesus saw?

[01:31:35]Lord, for all the members of your church that need a reminder today of your character. That you remember our frame, that we're only dust. That as a father has compassion on his children, so you have compassion on us. The same God who said that it's to those that are childlike that the kingdom belongs.
