Showers, storms expected in South Florida this afternoon with more wet weather on the way

[00:00:04]>> Welcome to the weekend. I'm Next Weather Meteorologist Lisa Gonzalez. I view outside from our Sunny Isles camera and there's plenty of sunshine with a few clouds and heating up 80 90 degrees already. Showers and storms will be developing later today. So, keep your umbrella close. Warming up for the weekend and wet weather pattern continues through next week. Looking at those rain chances, today will be our highest potential for the rain around with 70% 40% tomorrow 50 on Sunday. Look at that, the rainy season pattern continues through next week. You need to keep the rain gear close with a 60% chance of rain as we head into the early to middle part of next week. As for right now though, we're looking at our Next Weather radar and we're just seeing a few showers that are popping up down across the Keys. Right now, it's quiet in Broward and Dade County at this time as you'll notice here. But, the winds have actually lightened up and that's helping us steer in a few showers here earlier around Marathon and across parts of the lower Keys. And as we head throughout the day today, certainly not going to be as windy as the last few days. That breeze 5 7 miles an hour.

[00:01:08]Temperature 89 in Miami, 85 in Fort Lauderdale and in Key West. 88 in Kendall, 89 in Pembroke Pines. It already feels like the upper 90s out there. It is a little toasty to walk your dog. But, look at Penelope, what a cutie. You know, if you're going to be headed out there, keep in mind their paws and the pavement can get really hot and we're going to see highs continue to soar to the low 90s this afternoon. So, maybe wait until the evening for at least a more comfortable walk. But, then you may have to dodge some showers and storms. No alerts or advisories here for the Atlantic waters or or the Keys. If you're going to be boating. And we look at our next weather rain tracker, it's really the afternoon that we get to see more showers and storms, especially around 3:00, 4:00 p.m. Heading into the evening rush could be quite wet and messy. And tonight, if you have any plans to be out and about, yes, there will be the potential for downpours just like last night. So, rinse and repeat.

[00:02:32]Don't miss it. At least the Saharan dust is keeping everything tranquil for now, keeping everything at bay. But as we look ahead, June 3rd through June 9th, the extended tropical outlook, these are the areas that provide favorable conditions for any development. But our next weather 7-day forecast is showing with all this moisture around, that is going to keep our rain chances high. And later on, we're going to hear those rumbles of thunder with a potential for heavy rain and even localized flooding.
