Shooting involving Spokane PoliceAdded:
Creme 2 breaking news now.
>> Hi everyone, thank you for joining us here on Creme News at Noon. I'm Laura Pepetti and we do begin with breaking news at this noon hour. Spokane police are investigating a shooting involving an officer. This happened north in Gonzaga in the Logan neighborhood near North Standard Street and East Indiana Avenue. Creme's Brandon T. Jones is live. He is on the scene with the very latest. Brandon, what do you know?
Well, Laura, police tell us they got this call for a domestic violence situation around 500 a.m. this morning.
And take a look, a wellongoing investigation still taking place here in the Logan neighborhood. You can still see a few blocks here are blocked off.
We're standing at the intersection of Cincinnati and Armina right now. And so the blocks are going all the way down to Indiana. So be prepared for that if you live here in the general area. But again, according to police, officers received reports of the disturbance at a home on North Cincinnati Street off North Hamilton Street around 5:00 a.m.
this morning. And after a police briefing earlier this morning, SPD said a dangerous struggle then took place involving a weapon leading to at least one officer shooting a man. Again, this is stemming from a domestic violence call they got here earlier this morning.
The man identified as the suspect in the disturbance was pronounced dead at the scene.
At least one officer uh used his firearm to protect the community, himself, and the involved parties.
Uh all our information at this point is preliminary.
So, police said no other officers were injured in this shooting and they also added that there is no ongoing threat to the community. But again, as you can see, that investigation still well underway. and the Spokane Independent Investigative Response Team is taking over the investigation. So, if we get any kind of new information, any new details from this investigation, we'll be sure to keep you updated. But for now, reporting live here in the Logan neighborhood, Brandon T. Bounce Cinez.
