A textbook example of intellectual detachment, where the visceral danger of a storm is sanitized into a sterile analysis of cloud formations. It perfectly captures the habit of observing a crisis through technical jargon rather than human urgency.

Severe UK Thunderstorms May 27 2026Added:
Right. Well, today we've had some absolutely just record-breaking temperatures. I think this is the hottest day ever in May, and it's been wild. We've had some absolutely incredible thunderstorms over Wales and Ireland which have been very severe producing, you know, a lot of flash flooding, some very big lightning strikes, just a very widespread outbreak. And in fact, yesterday on May 26th, we also had a nice thunderstorm outbreak. I didn't catch anything yesterday, but I got some beautiful cumulan nimbus clowns out my window.
Really nice stuff. Probably the nicest, most pronounced anvil had this year so far, easily. Really cool stuff. But today, we have an equally big risk uh for the south. It's a rather conditional risk. If the storms do fire, we are in a incredibly volatile environment. If anything fires, it's going to be massive. But honestly, you never know.
Something could happen. So, I'm just hoping at some point tonight it kicks off. The sun's about to set. I'm going to go live tracking these thunderstorms.
So, yeah, I'll catch you hopefully in the night with something big.
A little after midnight, cumulus towers rapidly started to build. And before long, flashes of lightning were visible on the horizon.
Despite being small and distant, these two cells were in fact amazing to watch.
And unbeknownst to me, whilst I was enjoying this beautiful lightning show, a large and extremely powerful cell was developing right behind me.
There's been barely any light the whole night now. Just coming over here. That' be an absolute belter potentially.
[ __ ] hell. It's right above me.
[ __ ] hell.
Whoa.
It's just to the left of us. Big bowl.
It's right in the shot there, mate. This is right above us. Really a bit scared to be honest. How is it coming up on the video? Wa! It's happening way more to the left than I thought it would. It's coming pretty much straight for us.
It's going to be tight. So, yeah, make a move in this exit.
Do not know how long I've been dreaming of getting something like this.
Homegrown beefy thunderstorms.
This stuff is literally right by us.
Wow.
Got lightning literally going on 360° around me at one point. Lightning to the left. Lightning to the back of us with literally 360° lightning. Thunder.
It's about coming right over us. So once it starts taking it down, I'm going have to move the camera.
The shells are Oh my god. Should have seen that behind me. Massive bolts.
I sp was passing the flash. Yeah, it's right here.
saying there he goes. Bad of small ones.
Nothing massive.
Oh, I finally got a good storm.
Whoa, that was big.
It's isolated. Perfect.
for another couple nice CGs already. I haven't gone any Oh my god. Massive seizure.

Nice. Those bolts.
Wow, that was beautiful.
That's beautiful. It's an epic flashlight again.
That was the perfect break.
Another beautiful So much nice she going on right now.
There's one over here.
What's up?
Something big happened just down there.
Unexpectedly, a second large cell was in progress directly behind the original massive cell.
Okay, here's what this cell going on down here started to die off.
Wow.
Hey, heat.
That was your work.
Heat.
Heat.
Stir them up.
Yes.
Stop with this m power cuts. It's just disconnected the stream and I just had a massive strike out of me. It's like 1:00 a.m. up.
Sorry old house down there. So loose. It was 1:00 a.m. when this kicked off. I thought nothing was going to happen. Oh my god.
Let's go.
What was that?
Definitely pushing off now.
Heat.
Heat.
Who's going to do this?
